- 0:00The beloved of Allah, peace be upon him
- 0:02, split the moon in the sky. Did you
- 0:04know this?
- 0:06>> Or is this the first time you are
- 0:08hearing it?
- 0:09>> What did the beloved of Allah, peace be
- 0:11upon him, do with the full moon in the
- 0:13sky?
- 0:14>> The people of Makkah said, "Muhammad,
- 0:15what is the proof that you are a
- 0:16Prophet?""What proof do you want?" They
- 0:17said that small proofs would not
- 0:19suffice. They said, if you can split
- 0:20this moon in the sky into two, then we
- 0:22will believe that you are Allah’s
- 0:24Prophet. Look at the absurd demand they
- 0:26brought! Would simple miracles not do?
- 0:29What, you want me to split the moon in
- 0:31the sky? All right, I will show you.
- 0:32Will you believe after this? They said,
- 0:34"We will." The Messenger of Allah said,
- 0:37"Alright, come on the 14th night of the
- 0:40next month, the night of the full moon,
- 0:43when it is shining bright." So everyone
- 0:46gathered that night. The Messenger of
- 0:48Allah pointed towards the moon with his
- 0:50index finger. This is mentioned in the
- 0:52Quran. He made a gesture like this. As
- 1:00soon as he pointed, the massive moon,
- 1:02spanning 38 million square kilometers,
- 1:04instantly split in two and moved to
- 1:06opposite sides. He said to his
- 1:10companions, "Be witnesses.""Pay
- 1:13attention, the moon has indeed split in
- 1:14two.""Ish-hadu, you be witnesses!"
- 1:16Immediately after he said this, the
- 1:18huge moon split, with one half on one
- 1:20side of Mount Hira. The other half went
- 1:23to the other side; the disbelievers saw
- 1:24it, the Muslim companions saw it, and
- 1:26many people from far away saw it. And
- 1:28there are some accounts that many
- 1:30people from India also witnessed this
- 1:32scene. The polytheists said, "Muhammad,
- 1:35we thought he only cast magic on
- 1:36people's hearts, now we see he has cast
- 1:38magic on the moon, Naudubillah!" That
- 1:41is why we should ask Allah for guidance
- 1:43. O Allah, grant us guidance. He used
- 1:47to always pray, "Allah..." He would
- 1:53seek guidance, so that we do not commit
- 1:55such acts in life that Allah shuts the
- 1:57path of guidance for us. May we never
- 1:59commit such sins. May we not become so
- 2:01involved in transgression that Allah
- 2:03blocks the path of guidance for me.
- 2:04Even after seeing the moon split with
- 2:06their own eyes, they said... "Great
- 2:10magician.""Muhammad, you used to cast
- 2:12magic on people's hearts.""Now you have
- 2:13cast magic on the moon." They still did
- 2:15not believe. The Quran is a witness
- 2:16that the dear Prophet split the moon.
- 2:18But without believing, they continued
- 2:20to wait. They wanted to see if the
- 2:22caravans that had gone out of Makkah
- 2:23for business would return, so they
- 2:24could ask if they saw anything that
- 2:26night. Three or four days later, a
- 2:27caravan arrived. They went out of
- 2:29Makkah and intercepted the caravan. "On
- 2:30such and such night, the 14th, the
- 2:32night of the full moon, did you see
- 2:33anything like this in the moon?" Some
- 2:35of them said... "Yes, everyone was
- 2:37sleeping, but it was our duty that
- 2:38night to water the camels.""Suddenly,
- 2:40we saw the moon in the sky split into
- 2:42two and move to opposite sides."
- 2:44>> Allahu Akbar, but even then, the
- 2:45Quraish did not believe. You cannot
- 2:52guide anyone just because you want to.
- 2:53Who is the owner of granting guidance?
- 2:55So, splitting the moon was a miracle of
- 2:58our beloved Prophet.
