4. 0:08measures that we can provide for
5. 0:11ourselves we need it in Divine
6. 0:13proportions that only God himself can
7. 0:15pour out upon

9. 0:19us when I was going off for college I'll
10. 0:21tell you this and then we're going to
11. 0:22pray when I was going off to college I
12. 0:24remember for a graduation gift my
13. 0:26parents threw a graduation party for me
14. 0:27and a friend and people came over you
15. 0:29know they had gifts for us and I
16. 0:31remember that you know most of the
17. 0:33people who were at the party were not
18. 0:34our friends they weren't the other 17
19. 0:36and 18 year olds they were my mama and
20. 0:38them friends cuz those are the people
21. 0:40that had the stuff to help us to go
22. 0:42ahead and get to college with you know
23. 0:43something in our pockets so my parents
24. 0:46friends were there one of the ladies
25. 0:48that we have known um for so many years
26. 0:50now she I remember gave me a book
27. 0:53Promises of God was the name of the book
28. 0:55and I remember opening up the bag and
29. 0:56thanking her for the gift but feeling a
30. 0:58little bit deflated like like for
31. 1:02real thank
32. 1:05you so I did take it to college with me
33. 1:08and I remember having it there I
34. 1:10remember putting it on my desk and then
35. 1:11over time throughout those years in
36. 1:13college it would get packed away as I
37. 1:15came back home for the summer and then
38. 1:16it would come back out into the room but
39. 1:18it would be further and further down in
40. 1:20the drawer you know of stuff that was
41. 1:21layered on top the busyness of college
42. 1:24life and I remember during all of those
43. 1:27college Years you know doing what
44. 1:28college students do by the time all the
45. 1:30gifts that you may have gotten to go
46. 1:32there run out then you're scaming around
47. 1:34with all your friends for every nickel
48. 1:35and dime and dollar you can find to go
49. 1:38and buy a little meal with your friends
50. 1:40here their hang out over there and so
51. 1:42you're just searching what for whatever
52. 1:43you can find I remember so many days
53. 1:45like that until one day in my last year
54. 1:49of college I remember that I was looking
55. 1:51through one of the big drawers in my
56. 1:53room and I looked down and realized that
57. 1:55that book was in the back sort of
58. 1:57pressed up in the corner of of this
59. 2:00drawer so I reached back there under all
60. 2:02of this stuff and I reached back there
61. 2:05and I pulled this little book out and
62. 2:06kind of smiled thinking about Mrs Holt
63. 2:08who had given me that book and I cracked
64. 2:11it open for the first time and out
65. 2:14fluttered a
66. 2:18check the whole
67. 2:21time that I had been
68. 2:28scringy whole time there was something
69. 2:31accessible and available to me but I had
70. 2:34to open up the
71. 2:39book and every time we open up the book
72. 2:42y'all we find out about treasure we
73. 2:43didn't know was
74. 2:44there so we don't have to to to live
75. 2:47below our spiritual means anymore we can
76. 2:51operate according to the inheritance
77. 2:53that has been given to us and so it
78. 2:55feels like a gift to me a privilege
79. 2:57every time I open it up
80. 2:58personally but the privilege that it is
81. 3:01to do it with you um is a joy tonight
82. 3:03and I'm praying that God will speak to
83. 3:05you as clearly as he had to has to me
84. 3:06encouraging me through this little
85. 3:08portion of scripture let's pray Lord I
86. 3:11Thank you so much for your word that it
87. 3:13is living and active than and sharper
88. 3:15than any two-edged sword I pray father
89. 3:18that you would give me a clear mind and
90. 3:21I yield my mouth and my words to You
91. 3:23Lord to do with it what you will father
92. 3:26I ask that the words of my mouth and the
93. 3:28meditation of my heart would be
94. 3:30acceptable to you in Jesus name I pray
95. 3:35amen second Peter is where you're headed
96. 3:38if you've got your Bible maybe you still
97. 3:40actually use a Bible with paper Pages
98. 3:41like I do all old school and stuff or
99. 3:45your iPhone your iPad any manner of
100. 3:47eyess can take you to Second Peter
101. 3:50chapter 1 that is where we're going to
102. 3:52be and In this passage of scripture we
103. 3:54meet Peter the bonder servant and
104. 3:57Apostle of Jesus Christ this is that
105. 3:59that Peter the one who you know the kind
106. 4:01of lead disciple whose name continues to
107. 4:04show up all throughout the gospels he
108. 4:06has written to us a couple of Epistles
109. 4:09that end up being letters that you and I
110. 4:11can glean from and he says in 2 Peter
111. 4:141:2 through
112. 4:1715 therefore I will always be ready to
113. 4:21remind you of these things even though
114. 4:24you already know them and you've been
115. 4:26established in the truth which is
116. 4:28present with you verse 13
117. 4:30and I consider it right as long as I am
118. 4:32in this body in this Earthly dwelling to
119. 4:35stir you up to wake you up to awaken you
120. 4:40and how I'm going to do it is by way of
121. 4:44reminder knowing that the laying aside
122. 4:46of my Earthly dwelling my body is
123. 4:48imminent as also the Lord Jesus Christ
124. 4:50has made clear to me verse 15 so I'm
125. 4:53going to be diligent that at any time
126. 4:55after my departure you're going to be
127. 4:57able to call certain things
128. 5:00to
129. 5:01mind Peter says my whole goal is to
130. 5:04remind you of some things I want to stir
131. 5:06you up I want to wake you up by way of
132. 5:09reminder one of the things that
133. 5:11sometimes becomes a little overwhelming
134. 5:13to me as a parent are the
135. 5:16reminders it's that I end up having to
136. 5:19say the same thing over and over and
137. 5:23over again it's the redundancy that gets
138. 5:25me sometimes we have a couple of things
139. 5:27that I've been telling my boys since
140. 5:29they were very little they are getting
141. 5:30ready to be 19 17 and 13 years old now
142. 5:34and the same thing I was telling my
143. 5:3519-year-old when he was one seems like
144. 5:37the exact same thing that I'm telling
145. 5:40him right now like sir when I talk to
146. 5:42you the response back to me is not yeah
147. 5:45- I can't handle that I need you to put
148. 5:47a handle on that yes ma'am yes sir I'm
149. 5:52still telling him that after all these
150. 5:54years one of the other things that
151. 5:57happens in our house is that when the
152. 5:58boys wake up in the morning or when they
153. 6:00return home from something like they've
154. 6:02been at practice or school or something
155. 6:03like that and they come home before they
156. 6:05move about their life and about their
157. 6:06day they have to come to me and their
158. 6:08dad and they have to ask a question is
159. 6:11there anything that I can do to help you
160. 6:14just have to ask the answer might be no
161. 6:17it might be yes but you do indeed have
162. 6:19to ask most of the time the question
163. 6:21looks like this is there anything I can
164. 6:23do to
165. 6:25[Applause]
166. 6:26hell but a lot of times the question
167. 6:28doesn't even come out like that I just
168. 6:30don't get the question at all so I find
169. 6:33myself having to search for the boys the
170. 6:34same boys I've been telling this since
171. 6:36they were very little and reminding them
172. 6:38to ask the question and I keep telling
173. 6:41them this is to your benefit do you
174. 6:43realize you're going to be a husband one
175. 6:45day and it's going to bless you to bless
176. 6:48your wife by asking her this
177. 6:51question I'm trying to help you and I'm
178. 6:53trying to make sure I have
179. 6:54daughters-in-law who rise up and call me
180. 6:58blessed

182. 7:04reminders when we're telling somebody
183. 7:06the same thing over and over again but
184. 7:08the reality is when we think about our
185. 7:09own life and our own experience the
186. 7:11stuff that has stuck with us over time
187. 7:13are the things we've been reminded about
188. 7:16things that have become habitual the
189. 7:18reminders have actually dug a rut of
190. 7:20routine and habit into our life so that
191. 7:23we don't even recognize sometimes the
192. 7:25kinds of decisions that we're making or
193. 7:26the words that we're saying or choosing
194. 7:28not to say the kind of relationships
195. 7:30that we choose or don't choose that a
196. 7:32lot of that has stemmed from the
197. 7:33reminders that we've been given I
198. 7:36remember my mother telling me when I was
199. 7:37growing up Priscilla it's not what you
200. 7:40said it's how you said it your mama told
201. 7:44you that too reminders she would say it
202. 7:47over and over and over again and at
203. 7:49times when we hear something that we've
204. 7:51heard before in the season of life that
205. 7:54we're in at that point that exact same
206. 7:56statement or exact same directive or bit
207. 7:59of destruction it hits us completely
208. 8:01different because we're at a sensitive
209. 8:03place in our life or we're at a hard
210. 8:04place in our life or our mind or our
211. 8:06heart has been turned in a different
212. 8:08direction and so reminders are necessary
213. 8:11because they give us a 3D perspective of
214. 8:14a particular a particular Insight or a
215. 8:17particular principle Peter believes this
216. 8:20obviously because he says that the way
217. 8:21that I want to stir you up wake you up
218. 8:24alert you to the things of God and to
219. 8:27what it means to grow spiritually and to
220. 8:29live a Victorious life and to grab hold
221. 8:32he's writing about in this book to grab
222. 8:34hold of everything that God has planned
223. 8:36for you the way for me to get you on
224. 8:39that track is to stir you up by way of
225. 8:42reminder now this is interesting to me
226. 8:45because you know this is Peter we're
227. 8:46talking about Peter Peter is the one who
228. 8:48actually traveled with Jesus for three
229. 8:50and a half years this is a guy we're
230. 8:51talking about who walked with Jesus and
231. 8:54talked with Jesus this guy witnessed the
232. 8:56actual Transfiguration of Jesus this is
233. 8:58the one who washed jesus' feet at the
234. 9:01Last Supper this is Peter the one who
235. 9:03denied Jesus three times but then knew
236. 9:06what it was like to feel the grace and
237. 9:08the mercy of God reach out to him and
238. 9:10restore him after that Devastation this
239. 9:13is Peter who saw the empty tomb this is
240. 9:15Peter who saw the resurrected Jesus this
241. 9:18is Peter who after the Ascension and the
242. 9:20coming of the Holy Spirit Peter would be
243. 9:22a leader of the church which was at
244. 9:24Jerusalem Peter did missionary work and
245. 9:26preached Jesus as the Christ for the
246. 9:29rest of his life and when it comes time
247. 9:31for him to write this letter he says I
248. 9:33don't want to stir you up by telling you
249. 9:35anything you have not already heard
250. 9:37before after everything I've seen with
251. 9:40Jesus and the Walking With Jesus the
252. 9:42discipleship with Jesus the friendship
253. 9:44with Jesus I'm telling you that the
254. 9:46things you have likely already heard are
255. 9:48the things you just need to be reminded
256. 9:50of because if you'll be reminded of old
257. 9:53things instead of constantly trying to
258. 9:55come up with new things then you'll
259. 9:57realize that the treasure that you've
260. 9:58been looking for you actually already
261. 10:00have access to so he says I'm getting
262. 10:03ready to stir you up but I'm going to do
263. 10:05it by way of reminder and so from the
264. 10:09top of that chapter he just starts
265. 10:11reminding you of things he just starts
266. 10:13calling them out one after the other and
267. 10:15we're just going to take a few of them a
268. 10:16handful of them to be reminded of
269. 10:18tonight so that we can be awakened so
270. 10:21that we can be encouraged and challenge
271. 10:23to remain alert aware and reminded of
272. 10:26these truths that he wants to share with
273. 10:28us the very first one is in the very
274. 10:30first verse at the top of the chapter he
275. 10:34writes Simon Peter a bond servant and
276. 10:37Apostle of Jesus Christ to those who
277. 10:41have received a faith as the same kind
278. 10:44as ours by the righteousness of our God
279. 10:47and Savior Jesus Christ if you read it
280. 10:50too quickly you'll miss the reminder
281. 10:52that he has tucked away and embedded
282. 10:54within this verse he says hi I'm Simon
283. 10:56Peter and just so you know I'm a bonder
284. 10:58servant and a Apostle of Jesus Christ
285. 11:00and I am writing to those who have
286. 11:03received the same kind of Faith as ours
287. 11:07Peter says let me be clear I have an
288. 11:10intended audience for this letter I am
289. 11:13writing to those who have received a
290. 11:15certain kind of Faith a faith that has
291. 11:17come to us through one channel through
292. 11:20one means he says it's through the
293. 11:22righteousness of our God whose name is
294. 11:24Jesus Christ the first reminder comes to
295. 11:27us here as he challenged es us to
296. 11:29consider And to clarify the content of
297. 11:32our faith he says make sure your faith
298. 11:35is the same kind of Faith as ours the
299. 11:38reason why he needed to remind the
300. 11:39people that he was writing to and by the
301. 11:41holy spirit is because one chapter later
302. 11:43if you read it you will find that he
303. 11:45starts detailing the fact that there
304. 11:46were false teachers that were rising up
305. 11:49within the church and they were they
306. 11:50were preaching a twisted version of the
307. 11:53good news they were watering down the
308. 11:55purity of the Gospel they were
309. 11:57introducing twisted heresies and even
310. 11:59denying the singular deity of Jesus
311. 12:02Christ and so in this second chapter of
312. 12:05this same book he begins to detail how
313. 12:07the way of Truth was being slandered by
314. 12:10people were who just were introducing
315. 12:12slight perversions and hints of
316. 12:14manipulation added opinion and
317. 12:17philosophies to the purity of the Gospel
318. 12:19so Peter right here at the top of the
319. 12:21letter he says I want to remind you that
320. 12:24there is a faith that is the same kind
321. 12:26of Faith as ours and it is the faith
322. 12:28that comes through faith alone in Christ
323. 12:32alone to redeem you from your sins Peter
324. 12:36cuts through the lies and the errors and
325. 12:38the efforts to malign the Purity and the
326. 12:39power of the good news of the gospel and
327. 12:41he says I ain't messing around with this
328. 12:43faith of ours I've walked with him I've
329. 12:46talked with him I've seen his miracles
330. 12:48I've heard his voice I saw him suffer a
331. 12:51gruesome death and become a ransom for
332. 12:52all my mankind so I came to remind you
333. 12:56that there is no other way that W
334. 12:58through which you can be saved except
335. 13:01through this one who is indeed the
336. 13:03Christ our faith he came to remind you
337. 13:06is in Christ and Christ Alone the reason
338. 13:09why this is such an important reminder
339. 13:11y'all is because we are living in a
340. 13:12culture and in a day and age where it's
341. 13:14a very similar scenario to what he was
342. 13:17describing we are in a time when the
343. 13:19culture around us is seeking if you look
344. 13:22closely to water down the gospel in a
345. 13:24culture that is seeking to generalize
346. 13:27God so that he is one of many options
347. 13:30instead of a singular unmatched entity
348. 13:33without comparison and with no
349. 13:35counterparts Peter says I've come to
350. 13:37remind the women of awaken tonight that
351. 13:40there is our great salvation and that
352. 13:42salvation comes by no other name and
353. 13:46through no other way except through
354. 13:48Jesus
355. 13:49Christ so he's stirring you up by way of
356. 13:52reminder that the gospel y'all is still
357. 13:55the good news it has not changed because
358. 13:59our savior has not changed and listen to
359. 14:01me you are going to have to be
360. 14:03incredibly Discerning in this day and
361. 14:05age you're going to have to have a keen
362. 14:07spiritual ear and listen to what you
363. 14:09were being fed through your social media
364. 14:11feed and on through your screens and
365. 14:14even as you sit in the building on some
366. 14:16Sundays in some spaces you need to make
367. 14:18sure that what you're hearing is
368. 14:20actually what it is that Jesus
369. 14:22says he says I'm I'm just challenging
370. 14:25you in this day and age where
371. 14:26everybody's just seeking to add little
372. 14:28hints and cleverly devised tales and a
373. 14:32popular opinion and that which is
374. 14:34politically correct that you're going to
375. 14:35have to tune your spiritual ears to make
376. 14:38sure this right here is the same kind of
377. 14:40Faith as
378. 14:42ours just because someone says it
379. 14:45passionately and charismatically and
380. 14:49didactically if it adds to or takes away
381. 14:52from the purity of the good news then it
382. 14:53is not the same kind of Faith as
383. 14:57ours
384. 14:59and then after you yourself after we
385. 15:02ourselves sisters have had our own
386. 15:04discernment tuned in our spiritual radar
387. 15:07up to make sure that we have balanced
388. 15:09everything against the truth of the word
389. 15:12of God we are also going to have to be
390. 15:14clear and confident and unashamed and
391. 15:16unmoved in our own
392. 15:21salvation you are living in a day and
393. 15:23age where you're going to have to have
394. 15:24some boldness to be clear about who your
395. 15:26savior is you're going have to have some
396. 15:29spiritual fiber some spiritual fortitude
397. 15:32you're going to have to have some
398. 15:33spiritual meat on your bones in order to
399. 15:35stand up and be unashamed about the good
400. 15:38news of Jesus
401. 15:39Christ to use your influence to use your
402. 15:42social media platform young people who
403. 15:44are in the room I mean I'm still young
404. 15:45but I'm just
405. 15:47[Applause]
406. 15:48saying that I'm just saying that if you
407. 15:51are in your 20s in this room the Lord
408. 15:53has given you unmitigated influence in a
409. 15:56way that previous generations did not
410. 15:58have have and it's going to take some
411. 16:01boldness and some courage to be willing
412. 16:03to stand alone separate from many in
413. 16:05your peer who will refuse to have
414. 16:07integrity and who will not cave under
415. 16:10the pressure of the culture to stand up
416. 16:12without shame and say there is only one
417. 16:15name by which men and women can be saved
418. 16:18and that is the name of Jesus
419. 16:23Christ you're gonna have to be bold the
420. 16:26holy spirit is gonna have to give you
421. 16:27some courage you're going to have to be
422. 16:29fortified because it will not be at
423. 16:31times politically correct it will not be
424. 16:34popular you will not receive the
425. 16:36Applause you will be unfollowed but you
426. 16:39have to be like Paul and say it is by
427. 16:41grace that I have been saved and I am
428. 16:44constrained the love of God constrains
429. 16:47me he's done too much he's saved me too
430. 16:50from too much he's redeemed me too
431. 16:52radically for me to add to or take away
432. 16:55from this good news this gospel that has
433. 16:57saved my Soul Christ
434. 17:02alone it's Christ Alone
435. 17:05y'all it doesn't matter how clever the
436. 17:08culture becomes with adding to and
437. 17:11trying to morph a new set of ideas and
438. 17:14ideals and philosophies we have to be
439. 17:16clear on who our savior
440. 17:20is the means of the Gospel is actually
441. 17:23quite
442. 17:24narrow Christ
443. 17:27alone but the scope of the Gospel is
444. 17:30very broad it is for everyone from Every
445. 17:34sphere of life not to some but to all
446. 17:37not to One Nation not to one political
447. 17:40party not to One race not to one
448. 17:42religious sector but to every breathing
449. 17:45human being the salvation of our God
450. 17:48through Jesus Christ has been
451. 17:52extended do you know the Great Lengths
452. 17:55that God has gone through to win you
453. 18:00do you know what a miracle it
454. 18:03is that after where we've been and what
455. 18:06we've done after the rebellious heart
456. 18:09that we had the times that we turned our
457. 18:11back on God the times he came looking
458. 18:13for us and we kept diverting his his
459. 18:16advances toward us the fact that we're
460. 18:18sitting in this room tonight in
461. 18:20relationship with him do you know what
462. 18:23he did to woo you to
463. 18:27himself
464. 18:28even when you wanted to run the Hound of
465. 18:31Heaven would not let you
466. 18:34go and I mean if we had time to tell the
467. 18:37story if we had time for me to just take
468. 18:40this little microphone off and start
469. 18:41right here on the front row and just go
470. 18:43down one by one all throughout this room
471. 18:46all the way into the furthest region of
472. 18:48this Sanctuary time would not allow us
473. 18:51enough opportunity to tell the stories
474. 18:54of how we were far away from him but he
475. 18:57came and he found us and he loved us and
476. 19:00he called us to
477. 19:01[Applause]
478. 19:04himself and this love story between you
479. 19:07and he you do know it did not just start
480. 19:09at the time of your birth it started
481. 19:11before the foundation of the world that
482. 19:13he already had you on his mind and he
483. 19:15was already looking and watching and
484. 19:17waiting for the opportunity when he knew
485. 19:19in his sovereignty and omniscience that
486. 19:21he was going to have to redeem Humanity
487. 19:23to himself he was already planning for
488. 19:26you okay I want you to think about
489. 19:29this I want you to think about what a
490. 19:31miracle it is that you were born I'm
491. 19:33talking about physically born in this
492. 19:36day in this age in this generation in
493. 19:38that body in that skin color with that
494. 19:40hair texture with those facial features
495. 19:42with your personality it is not by
496. 19:44chance you are not a surprise to God
497. 19:48your parents may have been surprised God
498. 19:50was
499. 19:52not he was not in the heavens saying
500. 19:54oops that one SLI past me nope he
501. 19:58planned for you which is Little Rabbit
502. 20:02Trail here the reason why you can be
503. 20:04confident in who you are in that skin
504. 20:06with that hair texture in that body is
505. 20:09because you have been fearfully and
506. 20:10wonderfully made with that personality
507. 20:13with the way your mind is wired and the
508. 20:15creativity that you have or don't have
509. 20:17you don't have time to be comparing
510. 20:19yourself with her and what she has and
511. 20:21what she can do God made you as you for
512. 20:24a
513. 20:27reason
514. 20:29he did it strategically and
515. 20:30intentionally it's a miracle your birth
516. 20:32and mine and by the way not only is the
517. 20:35is who we are a miracle but the time in
518. 20:38which we live has been strategically
519. 20:41designed and defined by
520. 20:44God meaning you and I didn't come
521. 20:46through 2020 on
522. 20:49accident he didn't mistakenly set you in
523. 20:52this decade on
524. 20:54accident that your lifespan and mind was
525. 20:58situated in this generation on
526. 21:01purpose because there is a testimony
527. 21:04you're going to have that you're going
528. 21:05to tell your grandkids and your great
529. 21:07grandkids about the faithfulness of
530. 21:11God he made you for this in other
531. 21:15words your great great
532. 21:18grandfather with the seven billion plus
533. 21:21people that are on the
534. 21:23planet he just happened to intersect
535. 21:26lives with the woman who would be your
536. 21:27great great
537. 21:28grandmother they came together and had
538. 21:30your
539. 21:31great-grandfather and then with the 7
540. 21:33billion plus people that are on the
541. 21:35planet your great-grandfather just
542. 21:37happened at the right time in the right
543. 21:39generation in the right year on the
544. 21:41right day to intersect lives with the
545. 21:43woman who would be your
546. 21:44great-grandmother the two of them came
547. 21:46together and created your grandfather
548. 21:48and then with the seven billion plus
549. 21:50people that are on the planet he just
550. 21:52happened to intersect lives with the
551. 21:53woman who would be your grandmother and
552. 21:54then the two of them came together and
553. 21:55created your father and then your father
554. 21:58with the 7 billion plus people that are
555. 22:00on the planet he just happened to
556. 22:02intersect lives with the woman who would
557. 22:03be your mother and then the two of them
558. 22:05came together and they created
559. 22:09you there ain't nothing chance about
560. 22:13that that's the Divine hand of God
561. 22:15orchestrating circumstances and
562. 22:17orchestrating scenarios and the
563. 22:19movements of people in different times
564. 22:21and days and generations to make sure
565. 22:23that you would be born for such a time
566. 22:26as this
567. 22:32and if you think
568. 22:34then that it's a miracle that you were
569. 22:38born how much more of a miracle is it
570. 22:40that you were born
571. 22:43[Applause]
572. 22:50again since before time began God's been
573. 22:53orchestrating stuff to make sure that he
574. 22:55could win your allegiance to himself
575. 22:58I've heard my dad describe it as a
576. 23:00cosmic chessboard God is sitting on one
577. 23:02side of the cosmic chessboard and the
578. 23:04enemy you do know there is an enemy who
579. 23:05is also been vying for your soul vying
580. 23:09for Your Allegiance vying for your
581. 23:10attention he's been on the other side of
582. 23:12the cosmic chessboard God made the first
583. 23:14move he put Adam and Eve Perfect People
584. 23:17in a perfect environment perfect
585. 23:19relationship to himself perfect
586. 23:21opportunity to have Rapport and
587. 23:23cultivate a deepening friendship with
588. 23:25God but then the enemy made a move he
589. 23:27slithered into the garden and introduced
590. 23:29sin and now culture uh devolved to such
591. 23:32an extent that Cain ended up killing
592. 23:34Abel and now that perfect relationship
593. 23:37was infringed upon because sin was
594. 23:39introduced in the garden they were
595. 23:40separated in relationship with from God
596. 23:43and it seemed like all hope was lost but
597. 23:45our God never to be outdone he made
598. 23:47another move he caused Adam and Eve to
599. 23:50come back together again they had a baby
600. 23:52boy named Seth and Seth gave birth to
601. 23:54enosh and I don't know what it was about
602. 23:56enosh but Genesis chap chapter 4 says
603. 23:58that when enosh was born everybody
604. 24:00started to worship God again but then
605. 24:02the enemy made another move he
606. 24:04introduced sin back into the equation
607. 24:06and it proliferated so much so that the
608. 24:08entire Earth had to be destroyed by a
609. 24:11flood and this time it seemed like for
610. 24:13sure the enemy had won but our God never
611. 24:15to be outdone he made another move on
612. 24:17the cosmic chessboard and his name was
613. 24:19Noah and he said Noah I need you to go
614. 24:22build me an ark Noah said do
615. 24:26what he said I need you to go build me
616. 24:28an ark because it's going to rain and
617. 24:30through one man's obedience mankind was
618. 24:34preserved the enemy made another move so
619. 24:36that sin and Rebellion proliferated
620. 24:38through the hearts of mankind once again
621. 24:40even after the flood and it seemed like
622. 24:42all hope was lost but then God made
623. 24:44another move he went to a little Pagan
624. 24:46town called ER and he plucked out of it
625. 24:49a man named Abram and he said Abram I'm
626. 24:51going to change your name and I'm going
627. 24:53to change the GPS coordinates on your
628. 24:55destiny I'm going to send you to a brand
629. 24:57new land and he said look up in the
630. 24:59Stars Abraham you will see as many stars
631. 25:02are in the sky that's the number of
632. 25:04descendants that I'm going to give to
633. 25:05you I'm going to create a brand new
634. 25:07group of people they will be my people
635. 25:10and I will be
636. 25:12theirs then the enemy made another move
637. 25:14now God's people went down into Egypt
638. 25:18captured 400 years of brutal slavery and
639. 25:22it seemed like this time for sure there
640. 25:25was no hope they would never come out of
641. 25:27this slavery
642. 25:28but then God made another move and his
643. 25:30name is Moses and at just the right time
644. 25:33he raised Moses up as The Prince of
645. 25:35Egypt and he told Moses Mo go tell
646. 25:37Pharaoh let my people
647. 25:40go and after 10 miraculous plagues and
648. 25:4340 years in the wilderness they came
649. 25:45into the promised land the people of
650. 25:48God's promise in the place of Promise
651. 25:50where his presence and and blessing has
652. 25:52been promised to them the land flowing
653. 25:55with milk and
654. 25:56honey
655. 25:58but by the time you get to the end of
656. 26:00the Book of Judges the enemy has now
657. 26:03introduced idolatry so much so that
658. 26:06listen to me the children of Israel did
659. 26:08not have to turn their back completely
660. 26:10on Yahweh they just set idol worship
661. 26:12cultural idol worship alongside their
662. 26:15worship of Yahweh so they had one foot
663. 26:17in idolatry worshiping the idols of the
664. 26:19culture and one foot of Allegiance
665. 26:21worshiping God and it denigrated the
666. 26:23culture so much so that the last book
667. 26:26y'all of the the last line of the Book
668. 26:28of Judges says and everybody was doing
669. 26:32what was right in their own
670. 26:34eyes if that don't sound like America in
671. 26:37the year 2021 I don't know what
672. 26:42does and it seemed like all hope was
673. 26:46lost but then God made another
674. 26:49move and her name was
675. 26:52Ruth and Ruth's story got off to a rough
676. 26:54start but then at the right time Ruth
677. 26:57met her kinsman redeemer and the two of
678. 26:59them came together and had a little baby
679. 27:01boy named OED and OED gave birth to
680. 27:04Jesse and Jesse gave birth to a little
681. 27:07baby boy named
682. 27:09David and with that one move the enemy
683. 27:11didn't even know it but the Checkmate
684. 27:13was already on the
685. 27:14[Applause]
686. 27:19way and then the Old Testament closes
687. 27:22and there's 400 years of Silence God is
688. 27:24on one side of the cosmic chessboard the
689. 27:26enemy is on the other side and nobody
690. 27:28makes a move for 400 years all of
691. 27:31history and humanity is hanging in the
692. 27:34balance waiting to see who's going to
693. 27:36make the next
694. 27:38move and then the New Testament
695. 27:41opens and God makes a move the likes of
696. 27:44which the enemy still to this day has
697. 27:46never had a response for he basically
698. 27:48puts on flesh and says let me come down
699. 27:50here and take care of this
700. 27:56myself he lives a perfect life and he
701. 28:00dies a substitutionary death and three
702. 28:02days later he's resurrected from the
703. 28:04grave and he offers salvation once and
704. 28:07for all for you and for you and for you
705. 28:11and me do you realize what he went
706. 28:14through for
707. 28:15us how dare we be ashamed of a Salvation
708. 28:19like
709. 28:22that and so Peter says I came to stir
710. 28:25you up by way of reminder today that you
711. 28:27would never forget there is a certain
712. 28:30kind of
713. 28:31faith and that faith comes through
714. 28:33righteousness in Christ Jesus found in
715. 28:37Christ and Christ Alone he's got another
716. 28:40reminder for those of us who have that
717. 28:41kind of Faith he says that's who I'm
718. 28:43writing to verse one those who have
719. 28:44received a faith of the same kind as
720. 28:46ours he says verse two here's your
721. 28:48second
722. 28:49reminder Grace and
723. 28:51peace be multiplied to you not only has
724. 28:56he came to come to remind you of the
725. 28:58same kind of Faith but he wants to
726. 29:00remind you of a multiplication of peace
727. 29:03and of
728. 29:05Grace this makes me
729. 29:08happy because I like God's
730. 29:11math you see a few verses later around
731. 29:14verse five Peter's going to start
732. 29:16talking about addition he's going to
733. 29:18tell us to add to our faith moral
734. 29:20Excellence add godliness add kindness
735. 29:23add love he starts to tell us the things
736. 29:26that we need to add to make sure that we
737. 29:28are growing up spiritually and maturing
738. 29:30in our faith so he's about to talk to us
739. 29:32about addition but before he ever gets
740. 29:34to us regarding what we need to add to
741. 29:37our faith he tells you right up here in
742. 29:39verse two God's working in a completely
743. 29:41different set of
744. 29:43metrics he's going to multiply to you
745. 29:47he's going to multiply Grace and peace
746. 29:50they are not added they are
747. 29:53multiplied an exponential explosion of
748. 29:56peace to to you and grace to
749. 30:00you y'all I can't imagine anything we
750. 30:03need more right now than
751. 30:06peace and Grace and we don't need it in
752. 30:10measures that we can provide for
753. 30:12ourselves we need it in Divine
754. 30:15proportions that only God himself can
755. 30:17pour out upon us peace do you know what
756. 30:20it is peace is the capacity and the
757. 30:22potential for calm in the midst of chaos
758. 30:25peace is an internal anchor of stability
759. 30:29in the midst of unhindered instability
760. 30:31that swirls all around you peace is the
761. 30:34capacity to remain steady when
762. 30:36everything around us is completely
763. 30:38unsteady peace in the midst of a
764. 30:42storm there is a storm if you have not
765. 30:46noticed that is Raging around us and it
766. 30:51doesn't matter what your personal
767. 30:52concerns may or may not be right now in
768. 30:54this particular moment we want to tell
769. 30:56you though if you personally are not
770. 30:58going through a storm we just want to
771. 31:00tell you how happy we are for
772. 31:03you but for the vast majority of us who
773. 31:06are in this room we are in one of three
774. 31:08places we're either right smack dab in
775. 31:11the middle of a storm on our way into a
776. 31:13storm or on our way out of one because
777. 31:15it's the nature of the life in which we
778. 31:17live Jesus himself said it in John 16 he
779. 31:20said in this world you will have
780. 31:23trouble you don't have to go looking for
781. 31:25storms y'all just keep living
782. 31:29the storm is eventually going to come
783. 31:31and find you in one way or another but
784. 31:33even if personally you're not having the
785. 31:36the heavens open up over you and the
786. 31:37hurricane the rains the floods the
787. 31:40difficulties of Life are not pressing in
788. 31:42on you right now personally all of us
789. 31:47collectively have been in a
790. 31:50storm because we have not just been
791. 31:53through and still going through one
792. 31:56pandemic y'all there have been layers of
793. 31:58pandemics upon pandemics there's been a
794. 32:01medical one yes but there has also been
795. 32:03a political one there's been a racial
796. 32:06one layers of pandemic upon pandemic and
797. 32:09in order for us not to succumb to
798. 32:12anxiety and fear or cave to hopelessness
799. 32:15and despair the only way a Jalin can
800. 32:18come before us and say I've lost this
801. 32:20person and that person I have suffered
802. 32:22this difficulty and this difficulty but
803. 32:24I could still come up with a smile on my
804. 32:26face still serve the people of God and
805. 32:29still serve the house of God and not
806. 32:31succumb to bitterness or resentment or
807. 32:34skepticism about the goodness of God is
808. 32:36if there is an anchor in her
809. 32:41soul the peace of God anchors you in
810. 32:44your soul it's a supernatural peace that
811. 32:46he multiplies to you and Peter says I
812. 32:49want to remind you that if you have
813. 32:51received the same kind of Faith as ours
814. 32:53then you can know that that kind of
815. 32:55anchoring peace is is going to be
816. 32:57multiplied to you Jesus said in John 14
817. 33:00my peace I leave with you I give it to
818. 33:05you in Spade fools not as the world
819. 33:07gives it because they give it sparingly
820. 33:09and they give it temporarily with
821. 33:12condition but not this peace that I give
822. 33:14this is the kind of Peace Philippian 4:7
823. 33:17that passes all understanding you know
824. 33:20these kind of people it's the friend
825. 33:22that you have or the person that you
826. 33:23work with and and she's your girl you
827. 33:25know what she's going through she's
828. 33:27filled you in on the trouble that she's
829. 33:29had and the struggle that she's going
830. 33:31through and the calls she just got from
831. 33:33her kid school or the tragedy that has
832. 33:35just happened or the financial struggle
833. 33:37that she's been under under or the
834. 33:39doctor's diagnosis that's just called
835. 33:41you've been privy to all that
836. 33:42information and yet she keeps getting up
837. 33:46every day she keeps showing up she still
838. 33:50has a sense of calm she still has a bit
839. 33:52of a smile on her face she's not
840. 33:55ignoring her reality she it's not denial
841. 33:57she's very aware of it and she needs to
842. 33:59deal with it but at the same time she's
843. 34:02able to stay
844. 34:03steadfast
845. 34:06unmoved this is a supernatural kind of
846. 34:08Peace it's a peace that makes you go
847. 34:12huh because it passes all
848. 34:17understanding but not just peace that is
849. 34:19Multiplied to
850. 34:20you
851. 34:22Grace says I'm going to multiply Grace
852. 34:24to You Grace is God's unmerited favor on
853. 34:28your life that's what it is it is God
854. 34:31being free to do everything he wants to
855. 34:33do for you because of what Christ has
856. 34:35already done for you Grace is the
857. 34:38goodness of God dispensed to you that
858. 34:40you do not deserve that you could not
859. 34:42repay and that you cannot earn Grace is
860. 34:45of course the basis of our faith y'all
861. 34:47but there is not only a Grace that saves
862. 34:50you there is also a Grace that sustains
863. 34:52you this is what I call a Grace for
864. 34:55grown-ups
865. 34:58this multiplied Grace is the grace for
866. 35:00grown-ups it's the grace that actually
867. 35:02meets you in the details of your days
868. 35:04and The Darkest Hours of your night it
869. 35:06meets you in your struggles and your
870. 35:08strife and your difficulties and your
871. 35:10daily decisions it's a Grace that if
872. 35:12peace anchors you Grace is actually an
873. 35:15engine that motivates you and encourages
874. 35:18you and sustains you it's an uplifter
875. 35:20and a keeper it's a second wind that
876. 35:23keeps you moving forward with honestly
877. 35:25you would have caved a long time time
878. 35:27ago Grace gives you inspiration to keep
879. 35:30going it sustains you when everything
880. 35:33around you is not changing the
881. 35:35difficulty is staying the same but
882. 35:37somehow God gives you a Grace that keeps
883. 35:39you moving forward when the marriage is
884. 35:42still hard and the finances are still
885. 35:44low and the babies are still not
886. 35:46sleeping through the night and the adult
887. 35:48children are still living in a way that
888. 35:50is outside of the way that you raised
889. 35:52them to live and the relationship with
890. 35:54that person is still strained or your
891. 35:56heart is still broken or the business is
892. 35:59still flailing when your needs are still
893. 36:02seemingly unmet and unattended there is
894. 36:04a Grace for
895. 36:06grown-ups that can be your
896. 36:10keeper y'all I don't know that I have
897. 36:12ever in my
898. 36:16life had personal testimony of this
899. 36:19quite the same way I do
900. 36:23now we've all as I said corporately been
901. 36:26through a whole lot of
902. 36:28stuff but y'all the last two years of
903. 36:32our my life our life as a family has
904. 36:35been
905. 36:37devastating in the past two years we
906. 36:39have lost eight family
907. 36:42members back to back it started off with
908. 36:45the loss of of my one of my closest
909. 36:48friends and my biological cousin she
910. 36:52actually was a member of this
911. 36:55church and one day we were planning to
912. 36:57go to the movies I still have the
913. 36:58voicemails from her trying to organize
914. 37:00our her kids coming to my house to hang
915. 37:02out with their cousins while we went to
916. 37:03the movies that's what we did together
917. 37:05hang out at the movies over hot buttery
918. 37:07salty popcorn and a good
919. 37:10Coke and one day we're planning to go to
920. 37:12the movies and the next day at 38 years
921. 37:15old her heart just
922. 37:17stopped and that loss started a string
923. 37:20of losses in our family one after the
924. 37:25other ending with December 2019 right
925. 37:28before the the pandemic began in
926. 37:32December the same month my grandfather
927. 37:35died my father's father the beginning of
928. 37:38the month and at the end of the month
929. 37:40December 30th my mother
930. 37:43died eight months later my mother-in-law
931. 37:48died in between those two deaths the
932. 37:50doctor saw something on my left lung
933. 37:53that needed to be removed and the only
934. 37:55way they could remove it was to actually
935. 37:57take out the entire left lobe upper lobe
936. 38:00of my lung so a week after my mother's
937. 38:03funeral I had to go have that
938. 38:06surgery one thing after the
939. 38:09other and I don't know if you've ever
940. 38:12had a season of your life where you look
941. 38:14back on it and you
942. 38:16realize Grace sustained me through
943. 38:22that that it had to be grace that it had
944. 38:26to be something Supernatural that we've
945. 38:28still had our minds regulated that we
946. 38:31have still kept our faith and our trust
947. 38:33and our hope in him he is indeed a Grace
948. 38:37giver and he extends Grace for folks
949. 38:39going through grown-up situations like
950. 38:41you and I are facing he gives a Grace
951. 38:44for
952. 38:45grown-ups so I want you to know that
953. 38:47there is a multiplied piece and I want
954. 38:50you to know from my own personal
955. 38:52testimony that there is a multiplied
956. 38:53Grace that has been extended to you Paul
957. 38:56the Apostle talked about it a little bit
958. 38:58in 2 Corinthians chapter 12 he said
959. 39:00there's this Thorn In My Flesh ooh if I
960. 39:04could get rid of this Thorn my life
961. 39:05would be so much easier and better and
962. 39:07he prays he asked the Lord to get rid of
963. 39:08the thorn because that's what we do Lord
964. 39:11if you can change this situation this
965. 39:12thing that's poking me it's
966. 39:13uncomfortable it's bothering me if you
967. 39:16could get this out of my life then
968. 39:17everything would be fine Jesus or God
969. 39:20heard the prayer he prayed three times
970. 39:22that the thorn would be removed and God
971. 39:24in his sovereignty and and his goodness
972. 39:27and his grace to us sometimes does not
973. 39:31remove the thorn listen to that again
974. 39:33somebody needs to hear that that God's
975. 39:35sovereignty that God's goodness that
976. 39:38God's love for you has not been
977. 39:40misplaced just because the thorn remains
978. 39:43in your life he said to Paul no I'm not
979. 39:46taking away the thorn because it's by
980. 39:48this Thorn it's because of this Thorn
981. 39:50that you're getting ready to learn that
982. 39:51my grace is sufficient for you in other
983. 39:54words the multiplication of of Grace is
984. 39:57tied to the hard things that we are
985. 39:59facing that sometimes the Lord allows it
986. 40:02because you'll never see the
987. 40:03multiplication without it so if you're
988. 40:06praying Lord take away this Thorn Lord
989. 40:09change this difficulty the thing that
990. 40:10you wrote down on those cards that we
991. 40:12wrote Our requests down on earlier and
992. 40:14turned them in and you're praying and
993. 40:16the Lord in his goodness and sovereignty
994. 40:18chooses not to take away the thorn then
995. 40:21we begin to know we are growing up in
996. 40:23our faith and maturing a little bit
997. 40:25spiritually when instead of completely
998. 40:28caving in hopelessness or bitterness and
999. 40:30resentment against the Lord that the
1000. 40:31thorn remains we instead sit on the edge
1001. 40:35of our seat with our chin and our hands
1002. 40:37in holy anticipation that if he's
1003. 40:39allowed the thorn to remain that must
1004. 40:41mean there is a multiplication of Grace
1005. 40:43that's on the
1006. 40:49way so Peter says I came to stir you up
1007. 40:51by way of reminder that there is the
1008. 40:53same kind of Faith as ours but also
1009. 40:55there is a multiplication of Grace and
1010. 40:58peace that is coming to you and God 2
1011. 41:01Corinthians 98 says is able to make all
1012. 41:05grace abound to you so that always
1013. 41:08having all sufficiency in everything you
1014. 41:12may have an abundance for every good
1015. 41:15deed Paul has reminded us about the same
1016. 41:17kind of Faith he has reminded us about
1017. 41:20the multiplication of peace and Grace
1018. 41:21and finally he reminds us that there are
1019. 41:25magnificent promises
1020. 41:26for anything and everything that you
1021. 41:29face in verse three he says seeing that
1022. 41:33his divine power has granted to us
1023. 41:37everything pertaining to life and
1024. 41:40godliness through the true knowledge of
1025. 41:42him who called us by his glory and his
1026. 41:46Excellence his divine power he says and
1027. 41:49his precious promises have been given to
1028. 41:51you for everything that you need for
1029. 41:54life and for godl
1030. 41:56please don't miss the two layers of
1031. 41:59living that he addresses right here
1032. 42:01everything you need not just to live but
1033. 42:04to live in a way that honors God he's
1034. 42:06given you everything you need for that
1035. 42:08for both layers not just to keep getting
1036. 42:11up out of bed in the morning but
1037. 42:12actually to walk in a manner worthy of
1038. 42:15the calling by which you have been
1039. 42:16called he's given you enough Grace for
1040. 42:18that he's given you promises for that he
1041. 42:20has given everything you need to be able
1042. 42:22to sustain you to not just live but to
1043. 42:25honor God in your living to not just
1044. 42:27live not just keep on waking up every
1045. 42:30day but to face your day with a Measure
1046. 42:32of Faith and Hope and spiritual maturity
1047. 42:36everything you need to engage both of
1048. 42:38these layers of living you have already
1049. 42:40been given even if you don't see proof
1050. 42:43of it and even if based on your current
1051. 42:44level of lethargy or apathy or
1052. 42:47indifference or lack of energy you feel
1053. 42:50a little discouraged because you feel
1054. 42:51like this cannot be true for you Peter
1055. 42:54says that's why I came to to remind you
1056. 42:58that everything you need you already
1057. 43:01have y'all my boys two of them are him
1058. 43:04here with me tonight some of y'all
1059. 43:05probably saw them outside they were
1060. 43:07helping um many of you come bring your
1061. 43:09bags in earlier tonight but my boys are
1062. 43:12are gargantuan they're
1063. 43:14huge and they just keep getting bigger
1064. 43:16and I look at them now with all these
1065. 43:18muscles popping out and their voices are
1066. 43:20all deep and they're walking around with
1067. 43:22their shirts off it's
1068. 43:25nasty
1069. 43:29shs I'm looking at all of that manliness
1070. 43:33walking around and everything that they
1071. 43:35needed to become who they currently are
1072. 43:38and will be they already had at the
1073. 43:40moment of
1074. 43:41conception when they were in my womb and
1075. 43:44we did that first ultrasound six or
1076. 43:46seven weeks in it just looked like a
1077. 43:48little little nut a little ball of of
1078. 43:51like an acorn very very small everything
1079. 43:55though that they would de develop into
1080. 43:57was already there to the extent that I
1081. 43:59cultivated and and um took care of the
1082. 44:03new life that was on the inside of me
1083. 44:05that was the extent to which they would
1084. 44:07be able to completely flourish but
1085. 44:09everything that they are now they
1086. 44:11already
1087. 44:12had everything that you need you already
1088. 44:15have right now the new life of God is on
1089. 44:18the inside of you in the person of the
1090. 44:20Holy Spirit do you realize that the DNA
1091. 44:22of God himself is pulsing on the inside
1092. 44:25of you and as you cultivate and keep
1093. 44:28healthy the life of God on the inside of
1094. 44:30you everything that you will become
1095. 44:33everything that you need to be sustained
1096. 44:35through the hardships and the
1097. 44:36difficulties and the struggles and the
1098. 44:38joys the ups and the Downs of life
1099. 44:41everything you and I need we already
1100. 44:43have do you know that in the scriptures
1101. 44:45there are over
1102. 44:478,000
1103. 44:49promises that daughters Sons and
1104. 44:52Daughters of God have been given access
1105. 44:54to over 8,000
1106. 44:56but most of them he did not put in our
1107. 44:59hand he put them in our
1108. 45:01reach which means you have the
1109. 45:04opportunity to experience God in the way
1110. 45:06that that promise confirms that you
1111. 45:07should but it's not just set in your
1112. 45:09hand it's in your reach that as you
1113. 45:12trust him as you believe him as you walk
1114. 45:15with him as you remain connected to him
1115. 45:18as you deepen your friendship with him
1116. 45:20then you begin to see that outworked in
1117. 45:22your
1118. 45:24life Peter says somebody needs to be
1119. 45:26reminded today that according to
1120. 45:27Colossians 2:10 you are complete in
1121. 45:33him the enemy wants to dull you in that
1122. 45:36regard and me he wants to make us think
1123. 45:38that we need to go outside of Christ
1124. 45:41outside of what he has given us to find
1125. 45:43completion and so we become codependent
1126. 45:45in relationships and we become addicted
1127. 45:47to substances and we go outside of our
1128. 45:50relationship to God to find stuff that
1129. 45:52he has already given you access to but
1130. 45:55every every treasure that you need it's
1131. 45:58already there if you'll just open the
1132. 46:00book there will some things will come
1133. 46:03tumbling out of the book some Treasures
1134. 46:06some insights some details some
1135. 46:08strengthening power will come tumbling
1136. 46:10out for you so that you will know that
1137. 46:12everything you need to become and to be
1138. 46:15who God has called us to be as women of
1139. 46:17God you and I have already been given
1140. 46:20access to Peter says I just stopped by
1141. 46:23awaking to stir you up by way of
1142. 46:26reminder to remind you of the power and
1143. 46:30the purity of our faith to remind you of
1144. 46:33the multiplication of peace and Grace
1145. 46:36and to remind you that the Magnificent
1146. 46:38Promises of God are yours for anything
1147. 46:41and everything that you face amen amen
1148. 46:45amen
