- 0:00Hi, my green card has arrived. Well, you
- 0:03already know that from the video title.
- 0:05Let's make this quick. The video won't
- 0:07be very long, I need to run to work. I
- 0:09just want to show you the green card
- 0:11itself and say a few words. Oh, and
- 0:13generally, how much it cost.
- 0:15First of all, the green card arrived at
- 0:18another address a while ago, and I just
- 0:20picked it up the other day.
- 0:22I still don't believe it.
- 0:24You know, for those who live in America
- 0:26, this is the kind of moment you wait
- 0:28for so long, and when it finally comes,
- 0:31you are insanely happy and overwhelmed
- 0:33with emotions, but you can't believe
- 0:35it's real.
- 0:37Every morning I wake up, walk over to
- 0:39this envelope, pick it up, and I can't
- 0:41believe it—that this is it, that I've
- 0:43legalized my status to some extent, and
- 0:45that the passport is ahead, though I
- 0:47wonder how much time is left until then
- 0:50.
- 0:50I am just in shock. So let's take a look
- 0:53. So, in the envelope—by the way, this
- 0:55is our first unboxing. I've been wanting
- 0:56to film unboxings. I'm constantly buying
- 0:58things. So let's do it. The first
- 1:00unboxing is a green card. I think it's a
- 1:02wonderful gift. Especially since
- 1:03Christmas is coming soon. Well, how soon
- 1:05—in a month and a half. So, first, let
- 1:07me cover this up somehow. There were
- 1:09three pieces of evidence in the envelope
- 1:11, let's call them that.
- 1:14The first is the envelope itself, or
- 1:15rather the letter where it was attached
- 1:17.
- 1:18So you open the envelope; it arrives via
- 1:19first-class mail. The first thing you
- 1:21see is this paper. And the green card
- 1:23was stuck right here. I’ll show you the
- 1:26green card now. Second point. So, there
- 1:28was this guide in the envelope.
- 1:30Let's record this in one take, shall we
- 1:32? You'll forgive me if anything goes
- 1:33wrong. It’s a guide for new immigrants.
- 1:36It says something like: "Welcome to
- 1:38America, to the United States." If
- 1:40anyone is interested, press pause and
- 1:42you can read here about how to live in
- 1:45this wonderful country.
- 1:48Well, they talk about—honestly, it’s
- 1:51quite funny—how long you have to wait
- 1:53for a green card now; I waited a year
- 1:55and a half, but people now will be
- 1:57waiting for about three years.
- 2:00And the first point says: set up your
- 2:02life in the USA, find a place to live. I
- 2:06laughed at this for so long, thinking
- 2:08that by the time you deliver it, we’ll
- 2:10be old already. But nonetheless, it
- 2:13covers finding a job and your rights
- 2:16here.
- 2:17obligations, naturally, the most
- 2:19important thing in bold is that you are
- 2:21required to pay taxes and that what lies
- 2:24ahead, strictly speaking, is, well,
- 2:26becoming, if you can put it that way, a
- 2:28U.S. citizen.
- 2:30So, the green card. Oh, wait, the most
- 2:32interesting part, the green card itself
- 2:34, I haven't even shown it.
- 2:36Ta-da. I am insanely happy. This is just
- 2:40, okay, let me take it out.
- 2:43But, do you know what the downside is?
- 2:45They used the photo from my first work
- 2:48permit. I look so terrible in it. I
- 2:50remember when I took this photo, and
- 2:52when the card arrived and I saw it, I
- 2:54thought: "Well, damn, how could this
- 2:56happen?" Well, I thought, it’s fine, in
- 2:59a year or two I’ll redo it, but no, I
- 3:02didn't redo it. So, strictly speaking,
- 3:04this is the green card itself. Guys, I
- 3:06am so happy, look, I have it, I want to
- 3:09say. Thank you.
- 3:11>> So now we are permanent residents. See
- 3:13what the photo is like? It’s just awful
- 3:14.
- 3:16Well, those are the things. So, the
- 3:18green card has arrived, and well, this
- 3:20is not legal advice, I am not a lawyer,
- 3:22and all that blah-blah-blah. So, until
- 3:24citizenship, from the moment of
- 3:26receiving the green card, it is 4 years
- 3:27and 9 months before applying for
- 3:29citizenship. So, this green card arrived
- 3:33a year ago.
- 3:34Well, I actually waited for it for about
- 3:36a year or a year and a half. And it
- 3:37arrived a year and a half—well, it
- 3:39arrived a year ago. Consequently, I have
- 3:423 years and 9 months left until
- 3:43citizenship.
- 3:45Well, accordingly, it will be soon.
- 3:46Therefore, in 3 years and 9 months, I
- 3:48need to learn 100 questions, I think it
- 3:50is now. And brush up on the language, I
- 3:52think there will be three tests,
- 3:54something written. Well, we will study
- 3:56all that later together, because, well,
- 3:59I still can't believe it. I walk up in
- 4:01the morning, look at it, and I'm like,
- 4:04wow. I mean, really, wow.
- 4:06I mean, now I can do absolutely anything
- 4:08; I can move around the country, I can
- 4:10travel, I can leave America.
- 4:12You know, I read this phrase somewhere
- 4:14recently and laughed, because,
- 4:16unfortunately, many are stuck here and
- 4:18cannot leave. And some woman wrote that
- 4:20, well, you either can't get into your
- 4:22America, or you can't get out of it. So
- 4:25, what about the cost? For those who
- 4:28don't know, a green card costs money.
- 4:30Well, in theory, if you don't have any
- 4:32exemptions and can't request a fee
- 4:35waiver due to financial circumstances, a
- 4:37green card is usually paid.
- 4:40In my case, the card costs about 1,500
- 4:43dollars.
- 4:45The medical exam, that's another 500.
- 4:49At the medical exam, you go through a
- 4:51check-up, you do general tests, and then
- 4:53you get any vaccines that you're missing
- 4:56.
- 4:58As far as I understand, if you’ve lost
- 5:00your vaccination records, you can get an
- 5:03antibody test and just get the vaccines
- 5:05you're missing.
- 5:07So a green card costs roughly 2,000.
- 5:10And then I also requested a travel
- 5:11document. The travel document costs 185
- 5:14dollars. You have to wait a year and a
- 5:16half for it.
- 5:17It's just, damn, it's a travel document
- 5:20.
- 5:21It's a little booklet, just a paper
- 5:23booklet that is valid for a year.
- 5:25It's valid for a year, and you have to
- 5:28wait a year and a half just to, well,
- 5:30travel abroad. I still don't understand
- 5:32how that's possible.
- 5:34I mean, okay, and the green card too, I
- 5:35don't really—it's just, damn, it takes
- 5:37so long. I mean, the time I waited, it's
- 5:39just insane. And I could say I hadn't
- 5:41even really waited yet. I mean, a year
- 5:43or a year and a half, that’s just
- 5:45ridiculous.
- 5:47If you go to the immigration service
- 5:49website right now and look at the
- 5:51processing times section, the wait is
- 5:53about 36 months right now.
- 5:5636 months to wait for a green card. Well
- 5:59, for my category, I think everyone
- 6:01understands that category. It's just
- 6:03brutal. I mean, first you go through all
- 6:06this hell, then you finally apply, and
- 6:09then you wait another 3 years for that
- 6:12card to arrive. And then there's the
- 6:14path to citizenship. I mean, it's not a
- 6:16short road, but I still can't believe it
- 6:19.
- 6:20I am incredibly happy. You know, this is
- 6:23the moment when you realize dreams come
- 6:26true.
- 6:28I know there’s going to be a firestorm
- 6:30in the comments, but you understand,
- 6:32it's such a moment when you hold it in
- 6:34your hands.
- 6:36You're like, "That's it, I'm a US
- 6:38resident, a resident of the United
- 6:41States, now I can, maybe now I can
- 6:43actually live." And, of course, the most
- 6:46important thing for me is that I can
- 6:48finally travel abroad to see my mom and
- 6:51my sister. I haven't seen anyone for so
- 6:54long, or my friends, and I just can't
- 6:57believe it. I cried a lot. I mean, for 2
- 7:00days, I was basically in hysterics. Do
- 7:02you know when my hysterics started? So,
- 7:05I have this tracker where you can check
- 7:08your status.
- 7:10I was thinking about filing some kind of
- 7:11lawsuit later, because it's all taking
- 7:13so long. And just the other evening, I
- 7:15came home from work tired and made
- 7:17myself something to eat. I open the
- 7:20tracker. I mean, I’d been checking it
- 7:22every single night for over a year. And
- 7:25before that, when I was waiting for my
- 7:26work permit.
- 7:27So, I just refreshed it as usual, and it
- 7:30turned green, and it said "Green Card"
- 7:32approved.
- 7:34At first, I thought it was a glitch. I
- 7:35swear, I deleted the app, reinstalled it
- 7:38, checked it again, and it still said "
- 7:41approved."
- 7:42And I was like, "What do you mean,
- 7:44approved?""Like, why is it approved?"
- 7:48Honestly, I’m telling you, I can’t
- 7:49believe I’ve lived to see the day where
- 7:51I can record this video.
- 7:52Anyway, that’s the party we’re having.
- 7:53If you’re not subscribed, subscribe,
- 7:55because we have a move coming up. Well,
- 7:58for me, at least—I’m on my own now.
- 8:00Which means moving by the 30th. I’ve
- 8:03already got boxes sitting over there. I
- 8:05have to move out of this apartment by
- 8:07November 30th. I mean, we’re supposed to
- 8:10move out, but we’re splitting up, so
- 8:12we’ll be packing together. Apartment
- 8:15viewings start this week. I’ll take you
- 8:17with me, of course; we’ll walk around
- 8:19with the camera and check everything out
- 8:20. I hope I find something. There’s not
- 8:22much time to find a place. I’ve already
- 8:25written down a few options. Honestly,
- 8:28the timing is just terrible right now—
- 8:30not a good time at all. I have so much
- 8:31to do. I’m swamped with college work,
- 8:33for one thing.
- 8:35Yeah. I have one question for those who
- 8:37watched until the end. I absolutely
- 8:39loved the format where I talked to you
- 8:42from my car. I loved it so much.
- 8:45So, I wanted to ask you: if we were to,
- 8:47I don’t know, have dinner together or
- 8:49just have heart-to-heart talks at least
- 8:52once every two weeks, do you think that
- 8:54would be something you’d enjoy? Because
- 8:57I don’t just want to set up the camera,
- 8:59film, talk, edit, and post; I want some
- 9:02warmth, I want to chat, maybe laugh a
- 9:04little, and discuss things. I think it’s
- 9:07a cool idea to get a bit closer to you
- 9:10all. Yeah. So, those are the updates.
- 9:13Thanks for watching. Subscribe to the
- 9:15channel. And as always, I’ll see you
- 9:18down in the comments.
