- 0:00Hi everyone!
- 0:01My name is Mia,
- 0:02and today I’d like to talk about stress
- 0:04in modern life.
- 0:07Stress is not unusual,
- 0:09and it can show up in many parts of an ordinary day.
- 0:13It may come from work, money,
- 0:15family responsibilities, social media, traffic,
- 0:20or even small tasks that happen at the same time.
- 0:25On weekdays, my day often begins with an alarm at 6:30.
- 0:30Before I get out of bed,
- 0:31I sometimes check my phone.
- 0:34There may already be work messages,
- 0:36news updates, emails, and reminders.
- 0:41Even though the day has just started,
- 0:43my mind can quickly become busy.
- 0:47After getting ready, I commute to work.
- 0:50The roads are often crowded during rush hour,
- 0:53and public transport can also be full.
- 0:56A short delay may not sound serious,
- 0:59but it can become stressful
- 1:01when I have an important meeting or a deadline.
- 1:05By the time I arrive at work,
- 1:07I may already feel tired.
- 1:10At work, several tasks can arrive at once.
- 1:14I may need to reply to emails,
- 1:16prepare a report,
- 1:17answer questions, and join meetings.
- 1:21Sometimes, a task changes suddenly
- 1:24because a customer or manager needs something urgently.
- 1:28I try to stay organized,
- 1:30but it is not always easy
- 1:32to decide which task should come first.
- 1:36Technology makes work faster,
- 1:38but it also makes people easier to reach.
- 1:41In the past,
- 1:42workers usually left their work at the office.
- 1:45Now, messages can arrive at any time.
- 1:49Some people check their work email during dinner
- 1:51or before going to sleep.
- 1:54I have done this too,
- 1:55especially when I am worried about an unfinished task.
- 2:00Money is another common source of stress.
- 2:03The cost of housing, food, transport,
- 2:07healthcare, and education can be difficult to manage.
- 2:11A person may have a regular income
- 2:14but still worry about unexpected expenses.
- 2:17A broken laptop, a medical bill,
- 2:20or a problem with the car
- 2:22can suddenly affect the monthly budget.
- 2:26Family life can also become busy.
- 2:28Many adults work full-time
- 2:30while caring for children or older family members.
- 2:34They may prepare meals, clean the house,
- 2:37attend appointments, and help with schoolwork
- 2:40after a long working day.
- 2:42These responsibilities are important,
- 2:45but handling everything at once can feel overwhelming.
- 2:50Social media creates a different kind of pressure.
- 2:53When I open an app,
- 2:54I often see people sharing holidays,
- 2:57promotions, new homes,
- 2:59weddings, and happy family moments.
- 3:03These posts do not show every part of their lives,
- 3:06but it is still easy to compare.
- 3:09After spending too much time online,
- 3:12I sometimes feel that other people are moving forward
- 3:15faster than I am.
- 3:17Stress also affects the body.
- 3:20When I feel stressed,
- 3:21my shoulders become tight,
- 3:23and I may get a headache.
- 3:25I sometimes find it difficult to concentrate
- 3:27or fall asleep.
- 3:29Small problems
- 3:30can also make me more impatient than usual.
- 3:34On very busy days,
- 3:35I may skip a proper meal or drink too much coffee.
- 3:40I have noticed that stress builds up
- 3:42when I try to handle everything
- 3:43without a pause.
- 3:45Because of this,
- 3:46I now try to separate my tasks
- 3:48and deal with them one at a time.
- 3:51I write a short list,
- 3:52take a brief walk at lunchtime,
- 3:55and stop checking work messages late at night
- 3:57when possible.
- 3:59I also talk to a friend or family member
- 4:02when something has been worrying me for several days.
- 4:06Modern life offers many useful things,
- 4:09but it also moves very quickly.
- 4:12Work, technology,
- 4:14financial pressure, family duties,
- 4:16and online comparison can all create stress.
- 4:20For me,
- 4:21understanding where the stress comes from
- 4:24makes it easier to manage my day
- 4:26and notice when I need some rest.
- 4:29Thank you for listening to my story.

- 6:34To concentrate means to give your full attention to something.

- 6:53To build up means to become bigger or stronger over time.
- 6:59Small problems can build up and make a person feel stressed.
