  1. 0:00Throughout the history of smart TVs,
  2. 0:02people have asked, "What the hell, why
  3. 0:04are they so damn stupid? Why do they
  4. 0:07run so slow?" Even switching between
  5. 0:09icons is a struggle for a
  6. 0:10thousand-dollar TV. Well, it turns out
  7. 0:13that 90%of a TV's performance is just
  8. 0:16used to spy on you. The poor processor
  9. 0:18inside the TV is busy using the camera
  10. 0:20to watch what you're doing and how
  11. 0:22you're lying on the couch. It also
  12. 0:24listens through your microphone and
  13. 0:25takes screenshots a couple of times a
  14. 0:27second. In case you're wondering, this
  15. 0:28is no joke. Smart TVs actually take a
  16. 0:31screenshot three times a second and
  17. 0:33send them to an analytics center,
  18. 0:34leaving only 10%of the power for your
  19. 0:36needs. That is precisely why even the
  20. 0:39simplest app scrolling is laggy. But it
  21. 0:41seems that is now in the past. As you
  22. 0:43know, neural networks have recently
  23. 0:45learned to write code almost perfectly,
  24. 0:46and people are using them to reflash
  25. 0:48their TVs and rip out all the spyware
  26. 0:50code. How effective is it? It’s
  27. 0:53absolutely insane. The TV starts flying
  28. 0:55. The interface response becomes
  29. 0:57instantaneous, and apps load in a
  30. 0:59second.
