  21. 0:46intimidating to a lot of people they're
  22. 0:48like how do i get a life like that but
  23. 0:50one of the things that we've really
  24. 0:51discovered over the years is that it's
  25. 0:53not as difficult as you might think to
  26. 0:55move powerfully in that direction and
  27. 0:58what it comes down to
  28. 0:59is not the big choices and actions that
  29. 1:02you take it's not the you know it's not
  30. 1:04those few big decisions that you'll make
  31. 1:07in life like what company to work for or
  32. 1:09what college to go to it's the small
  33. 1:12daily choices and actions that really
  34. 1:14determine the kind of person you're
  35. 1:15going to become and the kind of life
  36. 1:17you're going to live so in this video we
  37. 1:19would like to share some of our favorite
  38. 1:21habits that have really helped us create
  39. 1:23the extraordinary life that we have and
  40. 1:26these are simple daily habits that we
  41. 1:28have done every day for years in a row
  42. 1:31that add up to the life that we've
  43. 1:33envisioned exactly
  44. 1:35so the first group of habits is in our
  45. 1:37health and fitness because health and
  46. 1:39fitness is such a foundational category
  47. 1:41of life if you've got your health and
  48. 1:43fitness firing on all cylinders you're
  49. 1:45going to have energy to bring to your
  50. 1:46career you're going to have a better
  51. 1:48love life you're going to have you're
  52. 1:49going to feel better emotionally this is
  53. 1:51a super important category and we've got
  54. 1:53two great habits that we've created over
  55. 1:55the years the first one is easy and it's
  56. 1:57simple and everybody knows it we
  57. 1:59exercise every day
  58. 2:01and we have movement it's body movement
  59. 2:02exactly it's just being conscious of
  60. 2:04your body getting into your body moving
  61. 2:05your body you can do it a million
  62. 2:07different ways just get into your body
  63. 2:09whatever works for you yeah and so we've
  64. 2:11done that every every day just about for
  65. 2:14the last 30 years it doesn't have to be
  66. 2:15an hour it doesn't even have to be a
  67. 2:17half hour even even 10 minutes just
  68. 2:19becoming conscious of your body and and
  69. 2:21making sure that you're exercising and
  70. 2:23using it habit number one number two is
  71. 2:26our green smoothies we have green
  72. 2:28smoothies little glass of green smoothie
  73. 2:31probably two times a day and it's a
  74. 2:33really simple recipe you can do it in
  75. 2:34your vitamix or your ninja
  76. 2:36and it's some avocado
  77. 2:39cucumber any kind of leafy greens you
  78. 2:41can put it in celery
  79. 2:43all the vegetables that you love and if
  80. 2:45you like a little sweet add some mango
  81. 2:46or
  82. 2:47carrots it's like having a liquid salad
  83. 2:49and you slam a couple of those during
  84. 2:51the day you've got your nutrition
  85. 2:53handled for that day pretty much
  86. 2:55everything is they make you feel great
  87. 2:56they really do you can feel them in your
  88. 2:58body unlike a lot of supplements that
  89. 3:00you take you can't even feel what it's
  90. 3:02doing to you man you can feel those
  91. 3:04green smoothies you get an immediate
  92. 3:05entered energy jolt okay next is our
  93. 3:08love strategies so we got a couple
  94. 3:11really good ones um
  95. 3:13our love relationship strategy center
  96. 3:15around connection rituals and we have a
  97. 3:18number of different ones we're going to
  98. 3:19talk about two here
  99. 3:20the first is our daily connection ritual
  100. 3:23so every day after work miss and i take
  101. 3:26a walk in our garden for as long as we
  102. 3:29can half hour at least an hour and we
  103. 3:32just catch up from the day we she
  104. 3:34downloads what happened the challenges
  105. 3:37and opportunities of the day i do the
  106. 3:38same thing we really get a chance to to
  107. 3:41connect that way and if we do that daily
  108. 3:43then our dates tend to be about love and
  109. 3:45not about work or the daily activities
  110. 3:48that we're doing every day and that's
  111. 3:49our second strategy is our weekly
  112. 3:51overnight date night which we've done
  113. 3:55every week for the last 25 years missing
  114. 3:57very very few no matter where in the
  115. 3:59world we are
  116. 4:00we
  117. 4:01we handle child care with the kids and
  118. 4:04we have grown-up time just to ourselves
  119. 4:07overnight once a week it's amazing and
  120. 4:09if you're not doing that already we
  121. 4:11highly recommend you do that immediately
  122. 4:12if you're in a relationship it's our
  123. 4:14number one literally number one love
  124. 4:15relationship just keeps you connected it
  125. 4:17keeps you connected it keeps you in in
  126. 4:19that that flow of love and you know love
  127. 4:22and passion and romance it keeps the
  128. 4:24romance alive in your relationship for
  129. 4:26sure so those are our two favorite love
  130. 4:28habits
  131. 4:29and next would be
  132. 4:31just sort of our internal world so one
  133. 4:33of the most important things that i do
  134. 4:35every morning is i have my morning habit
  135. 4:37which is to get in a state of gratitude
  136. 4:41of presence embody my
  137. 4:43myself get back in my body from the
  138. 4:45night's sleep and i do that with really
  139. 4:48getting mindful and just being really
  140. 4:49grateful and i usually take a walk
  141. 4:51outside with our dog get in nature
  142. 4:53that's a wonderful way to do it just
  143. 4:56instantly connect and just really think
  144. 4:58about all the things i'm grateful for
  145. 5:00she likes candles and incense and makes
  146. 5:01a little ritual out of it and i'll tell
  147. 5:03you
  148. 5:04that the days that missy does that you
  149. 5:06can tell like the whole house
  150. 5:08has
  151. 5:09absolutely it's the time that i really
  152. 5:11do get centered in myself so that i from
  153. 5:14that place i can handle anything
  154. 5:16anything and our whole family centered
  155. 5:18centers that's true
  156. 5:20so my rituals and habits around
  157. 5:23sort of internal centering myself
  158. 5:25getting my head right getting my
  159. 5:27emotions right
  160. 5:28first of all i take a nap every day and
  161. 5:32um and i've actually read that there are
  162. 5:34a lot of famous people in history that
  163. 5:35have have been nappers the hours of noon
  164. 5:39till three are pretty much blocked out
  165. 5:42that's my siesta i i wake up early so i
  166. 5:45put in six seven hard hours of work and
  167. 5:48then i'm off the grid no phone calls no
  168. 5:51emails amazing and i just that's my time
  169. 5:53and then i pick up in the afternoon if
  170. 5:55i've got more work that's been wonderful
  171. 5:56for me
  172. 5:58also meditation
  173. 6:00interestingly enough
  174. 6:02when when we take a look at the habits
  175. 6:04that life book members most say are are
  176. 6:07the most important habits in their life
  177. 6:09meditation shows up in more categories
  178. 6:12than any other habit it's probably the
  179. 6:14highest leverage thing that you can do
  180. 6:16100 right for your health and fitness
  181. 6:18for your your mental and emotional state
  182. 6:20just it's it's amazing because it gets
  183. 6:22you centered it gets you in that place
  184. 6:24where you're centered and you can move
  185. 6:26from that place of your truth another
  186. 6:28morning habit that i do is journaling
  187. 6:30and this is great first thing when i
  188. 6:32wake up if i have any dreams i can write
  189. 6:34my dreams down it also just empties me
  190. 6:37out to get me ready to be centered and
  191. 6:39ready for the new day and i never used
  192. 6:41to really journal but i have in the past
  193. 6:43few years and it has really
  194. 6:45been a profound experience for me
  195. 6:47because i've been able to empty my mind
  196. 6:50even more if medics if you have a hard
  197. 6:51time meditating journaling it was
  198. 6:54actually the doorway for me into
  199. 6:55meditation and so the last habit we'll
  200. 6:58share is a massive habit that i
  201. 7:01discovered probably four or five years
  202. 7:03ago this is a career habit
  203. 7:05and i call it my one thing
  204. 7:07so
  205. 7:08when i wake up in the morning i've
  206. 7:10discovered that my first two to three
  207. 7:12hours are by far my most effective
  208. 7:15thinking time business time i can write
  209. 7:18really really well in the morning i
  210. 7:19can't in the afternoon i can work out in
  211. 7:21the afternoon i can answer email in the
  212. 7:23afternoon do a lot of like production
  213. 7:25oriented stuff in the afternoon but my
  214. 7:27creative time is in the morning so about
  215. 7:29four years ago i got into the habit
  216. 7:32of working on my single most important
  217. 7:35project for the first two to three hours
  218. 7:37of my morning every morning no screwing
  219. 7:40around with the internet no checking
  220. 7:41emails no checking the text on my phone
  221. 7:44i go straight to
  222. 7:46have my coffee and my brain gets right
  223. 7:48and i pour all that creative energy into
  224. 7:50my most important thing game changer
  225. 7:52right
  226. 7:53amazing and again you just touched on
  227. 7:55something very important and that is
  228. 7:57learning your own natural rhythm
  229. 7:59like john is a really creative person in
  230. 8:01the morning i'm not so much i'd rather
  231. 8:03move my body maybe get you know in
  232. 8:05gratitude so really learn your own
  233. 8:07rhythms is a good thing yeah that's a
  234. 8:09that's a very good piece of advice once
  235. 8:11you learn your rhythms like i don't like
  236. 8:13working out in the morning she loves
  237. 8:15working out in the morning right once
  238. 8:17you learn your rhythms you can build
  239. 8:19your habits around that and you guys
  240. 8:21your habits will change your life your
  241. 8:23habits make your life
  242. 8:25they make you who you are
  243. 8:27and they and they create your life
  244. 8:29that's exactly right
  245. 8:30so a lot of people i think are a little
  246. 8:32bit intimidated by the concept of habit
  247. 8:35setting of choosing habits and really
  248. 8:37trying to
  249. 8:38integrate them into their lives because
  250. 8:39they're like how do i get myself to do
  251. 8:42these little daily choices and actions
  252. 8:45and when it comes to that we've got a
  253. 8:47massive advantage and here's what it is
  254. 8:50on these two pieces of paper
  255. 8:53we have our life vision very very
  256. 8:56clearly defined
  257. 8:57so we know exactly where it is that we
  258. 9:00are going to take our lives and how
  259. 9:03we've chosen our habits
  260. 9:05these are the habits that are going to
  261. 9:06get us to our life vision the habits
  262. 9:08that are going to make us the people
  263. 9:10that we want to become and lead us to
  264. 9:12the life that we want to live
  265. 9:14when you have a purpose like that
  266. 9:17you don't need motivation
  267. 9:19you don't need to get yourself to do to
  268. 9:21do something you're pulled forward by
  269. 9:23this beautiful vision for your future
  270. 9:26your habits are the vehicle that are
  271. 9:27going to get you there so
  272. 9:29you're enthusiastic about performing
  273. 9:31these little daily choices and actions
  274. 9:33true your life vision is like your
  275. 9:34beacon it's your it's your north star so
  276. 9:37your habits are going to weave in and
  277. 9:39out so that they they get you there so
  278. 9:41really once you have that life vision
  279. 9:43it's easier to know what to do during
  280. 9:46the day because that's where you're
  281. 9:47going it's like a decision making
  282. 9:49framework yeah what you want to do once
  283. 9:51you've clearly defined where you want to
  284. 9:53end up in life is you want to step into
  285. 9:56that vision and become the person that
  286. 9:58gets that life and that is exactly what
  287. 10:01habits will do for you
  288. 10:03if you would like to explore creating
  289. 10:05your own life vision and defining the
  290. 10:07habits that are going to get you there
  291. 10:09we'd like to invite you to our newest
  292. 10:10master class that we just recorded with
