- 0:00Have you ever walked past a stranger on
- 0:01the street and thought, "Wow, I love
- 0:04their outfits." But you can't put your
- 0:06finger on why? Well, I have the answer
- 0:08for you. It's because they're doing
- 0:10these eight things. And the best part is
- 0:12it's not about following trends, needing
- 0:15a huge wardrobe, or wearing designer
- 0:17labels. I also have a short integration
- 0:19with Bwako where I'll be showing you
- 0:21this gorgeous necklace. So, more about
- 0:24them in a bit. They have personality
- 0:26accessories. When it comes to getting
- 0:28the most from our wardrobes, having the
- 0:31right accessories is everything. If you
- 0:33rely on a neutral wardrobe like I do,
- 0:36then having a few great personality
- 0:38accessories is a way to inject some
- 0:41color and texture into your outfits
- 0:44without compromising on the overall
- 0:46versatility of your wardrobe. One of the
- 0:48realizations that I've had for my
- 0:51personal style recently is that I chose
- 0:55way too many black handbags in the past,
- 0:58thinking that they would go with
- 0:59everything and match with all my
- 1:01outfits. Don't get me wrong, I love a
- 1:03black handbag as much as the next
- 1:05person, but adding another one into my
- 1:08handbag collection didn't really give me
- 1:11anything new. I realized I was craving
- 1:13more color, more texture, more
- 1:16personality in my accessories. To me, a
- 1:19personality piece is something that is a
- 1:22little bit more fun, maybe unexpected,
- 1:25and it could perhaps highlight something
- 1:28unique about you. It could be something
- 1:30you've picked up on holiday, something
- 1:32you found vintage or thrift shopping, or
- 1:35something that has a story behind it and
- 1:38means something to you. or maybe there's
- 1:40no story behind it, but it just brings
- 1:41you so much joy when you look at it. If
- 1:44you are familiar with me and my channel,
- 1:46you'll know that I love a good belt. I
- 1:49enjoy wearing quite simple outfits and
- 1:51so sometimes a belt just makes the whole
- 1:54outfit for me and I can add a bit of
- 1:57color, a bit of texture, maybe a bit of
- 1:59pattern, and it also adds in that little
- 2:01bit of hardware as well. And that's all
- 2:03just from one piece. I have this brown
- 2:06one that almost has this like snakes
- 2:08skin pattern on it. I got this from a
- 2:10leather shop in IA. I have this chain
- 2:13one that I bought last year and I'm
- 2:15really excited to style it this summer.
- 2:18I think it could be a really nice
- 2:19addition against like cotton or linen,
- 2:22just something a little bit more
- 2:24unexpected. And then of course my
- 2:26beloved snakes skin belt from Dhanch. I
- 2:29wore this belt to death last year and
- 2:32it's not stopping anytime soon. I just
- 2:34think it makes every outfit I wear look
- 2:36a little bit cool. And as we head into
- 2:39summer, a statement necklace is the
- 2:41easiest way to add a little bit of
- 2:43layering, a bit of texture, and some
- 2:45visual interest to your outfits. I
- 2:48touched upon statement necklaces in my
- 2:50spring summer trends video, and so many
- 2:53of you in the comments agreed with me,
- 2:54and that's why I'm really excited to
- 2:56share with you this beautiful necklace
- 2:58from Bwakco, who are sponsoring this
- 3:01portion of the video. Buco is a
- 3:03familyrun brand from Japan that
- 3:05specialize in the most stunning
- 3:07freshwater pearl jewelry. They create
- 3:10timeless designs that blend tradition
- 3:13with a modern feel. The piece that I'm
- 3:15wearing right now is called the eternal
- 3:17embrace choker and it's made from
- 3:20freshwater baroque pearls. Each pearl
- 3:23has this very luminous organic shine
- 3:26that shifts depending on the light. And
- 3:28I love that no two pearls are exactly
- 3:31the same. I think it adds so much depth
- 3:33and character. The necklace is fastened
- 3:35with a gold heart and a tea bar closure.
- 3:38It feels playful and romantic, but it's
- 3:40still incredibly polished. I already
- 3:43know that I will be styling it
- 3:45throughout summer. Whether it's with a
- 3:47crisp white shirt or a simple outfit
- 3:49like this, it just elevates everything.
- 3:52And that really is the beauty of a great
- 3:54accessory. It doesn't overpower an
- 3:57outfit and it's able to just integrate
- 4:00really seamlessly into your wardrobe and
- 4:02this one in particular just plays really
- 4:04well with more neutral basics or more
- 4:07romantic summer pieces. Bwako's designs
- 4:11also feature an ojimmyi bead which is a
- 4:13traditional lacquered bead that was worn
- 4:15by Japanese nobility. It's such a
- 4:17beautiful nod to their heritage and one
- 4:20of their brand values of owning fewer
- 4:23but better things. It's something I've
- 4:25spoken about a lot on my channel and so
- 4:27their brand values resonate with me a
- 4:29lot. I've had a few of their other
- 4:31pieces for a couple of years now and I
- 4:34always get compliments when I wear them.
- 4:36One of my personal favorites is the
- 4:37Solitaire pearl pendant. It's a single
- 4:40baroque pearl on a fine gold chain. It's
- 4:43so minimal and refined and it really
- 4:45lets the beauty of the pearl speak for
- 4:48itself. I also have their gold twirl
- 4:50pearl earrings which have a twisted hoop
- 4:52design inspired by traditional Japanese
- 4:55braiding. It's a really clever way of
- 4:57blending cultural heritage with a modern
- 4:59silhouette. And for me, a pearl earring
- 5:02is such a jewelry staple. You can wear
- 5:04them casually or dress them up and they
- 5:06look absolutely beautiful on everyone.
- 5:09One of the things I most admire about
- 5:11Bwako is how they make pearls feel
- 5:14wearable and modern for everyday life.
- 5:17Pearls generally have this reputation of
- 5:20being quite formal or old-fashioned, but
- 5:22this design completely flips the
- 5:24narrative on its head. Buco has been
- 5:26farming and trading pearls since 1976,
- 5:29and so their knowledge of pearls runs
- 5:32deep, and you can really see this with
- 5:34the quality of each pearl. The
- 5:36craftsmanship, the materials, and the
- 5:38storytelling really make this brand
- 5:41stand out. If you're looking for
- 5:42something special, I will have
- 5:44everything in the links below. And you
- 5:46can also use my code adelene 15 for 15%
- 5:49off. So, thank you so much, Bwakco, for
- 5:51sharing your jewelry with us. Can you
- 5:53hear that rain? It just started
- 5:55absolutely pouring down
- 6:00outside. The most stylish people shop
- 6:03pre-loved. Whether that's thrift stores,
- 6:06curated vintage, charity shops, or
- 6:09luxury consignment. I just can't think
- 6:11of any negatives to shopping pre-loved.
- 6:13Although I will say that you do have to
- 6:15be mindful that you aren't over
- 6:18consuming just because it's secondhand.
- 6:20So obviously environmentally it's great.
- 6:23Buying things that already exist in the
- 6:26world is the second most sustainable
- 6:28option than just already using what you
- 6:31already own. Buying pre-love also means
- 6:33that maybe you can find pieces that
- 6:35would normally be out of your price
- 6:37range if you were to buy it brand new. I
- 6:39love coming across an item that I
- 6:42originally passed on because it was too
- 6:44expensive for me only to find it a
- 6:47fraction of the cost pre-loved. You know
- 6:49what they say, one person's trash is
- 6:51another person's treasure. And sometimes
- 6:53that is just so true. It's such a
- 6:55satisfying feeling when you find
- 6:57something that you've really wanted for
- 6:59a long time and you find it secondhand.
- 7:02And not only this, but I think shopping
- 7:04secondhand actually helps hone your
- 7:07styling skills more. Let me explain why.
- 7:10When you go into a shop or a department
- 7:12store, everything has been specially
- 7:15merchandised meticulously to look good
- 7:19together. Merchandisers get paid a lot
- 7:21of money to make sure that what is on
- 7:24the shop floor is going to sell. The
- 7:26brand has already done all the thinking
- 7:28and the work for you with coordinated
- 7:31outfits on the mannequin, showing you
- 7:33what is going to look good with what.
- 7:35But when you shop secondhand, a lot of
- 7:37the time these pieces are out of
- 7:39context. You have to do the work of
- 7:42imagining how it's going to look on you,
- 7:45how it's going to look with the pieces
- 7:46that you already own. And so, I think
- 7:49this pushes you to think more creatively
- 7:52about your outfits. So, not only can you
- 7:55find unique and special pieces when you
- 7:57shop pre-loved, but it also helps you
- 8:00hone your own styling skills. And that's
- 8:02why shopping pre-loved makes you more
- 8:05chic and stylish. They have a style
- 8:08signature. A style signature is a
- 8:10distinct element or recurring theme in
- 8:13the way that you dress. And this makes
- 8:15your personal style recognizable and
- 8:18uniquely you. It can be bold or
- 8:21understated, intentional, or something
- 8:23that is developed over time. Think of
- 8:26Carolyn Pette Kennedy and her timeless
- 8:28neutral looks. It was all about
- 8:30effortless silhouettes, clean tailoring,
- 8:32and minimal accessories. And yet, it was
- 8:35instantly her. Or take Fel Williams,
- 8:37whose style blends street wear with
- 8:39luxury in a way that only he could pull
- 8:41off. Jenna Lions is never without her
- 8:44statement glasses. Jane Berkin
- 8:46practically invented the idea of
- 8:48carrying a basket bag with everything.
- 8:50At the beach, in the city, at a black
- 8:53tie event, it didn't matter. I think
- 8:55Diane Kiton is another great example.
- 8:56Her love for men's wear, tailoring,
- 8:59crisp shirts, waist coats, and long
- 9:01skirts is iconic. And that consistency
- 9:05creates a signature. It's chic because
- 9:07it signals confidence. It says, "I know
- 9:10what I like, and I'm not chasing
- 9:12trends." There's something very stylish
- 9:14about someone who doesn't feel the need
- 9:17to reinvent themselves every season. So,
- 9:21don't be afraid to repeat outfits, to
- 9:23restyle the same pieces you love again
- 9:26and again. It's not boring. It's you
- 9:28figuring out what you like and what you
- 9:31love to wear. That is when dressing
- 9:33becomes fun and it does become a little
- 9:36bit more effortless. When items look a
- 9:39little bit livedin, I do always try to
- 9:42keep my items looking as fresh and as
- 9:45new as possible. I take care of them. I
- 9:48store them properly. I try to fix any
- 9:51snags or anything like that. But
- 9:54sometimes there is something so
- 9:56undeniably chic about an item that shows
- 9:59signs of wear. A few scuffs here and
- 10:02there, leather softening over time, a
- 10:05piece that has molded to your own body.
- 10:08These are little things that shows an
- 10:10item has been loved. It's been lived in
- 10:13and it has a history. I always think
- 10:15back to Mary Kate Olsen and her love
- 10:18affair with her mint green Balenciaga
- 10:22city bag. She was pictured with that bag
- 10:24for like over a decade. It was filled to
- 10:27the brim, slung over her arm. She used
- 10:30it traveling. She used it for school.
- 10:32And she really loved that thing to
- 10:35death. So much so that there was this
- 10:38giant burgundy wine stain right at the
- 10:41bottom of it. And honestly, it just made
- 10:44it so iconic because let's be real, she
- 10:46could afford to replace that thing 10
- 10:49times over. But she kept wearing it. She
- 10:51didn't care that it wasn't pristine. She
- 10:54clearly loved that bag. And in a way, it
- 10:57made it more luxurious, like it was part
- 11:00of her. There's a certain quiet
- 11:02confidence in that. Anyone can go out
- 11:04and buy a brand new looking Balenciaga
- 11:08handbag, but it's your unique bag that
- 11:11has all these creases and marks and
- 11:13scuffs on it. No one else can have this
- 11:15bag. So, yes, of course, take care of
- 11:18your things, but also don't be afraid of
- 11:21your things looking a little bit lived
- 11:23in. We romanticized this idea of just
- 11:25throwing something on and looking
- 11:27effortless. But that chic and stylish
- 11:29outfit that you saw someone wearing, she
- 11:32definitely took some time to plan that
- 11:34because looking effortless does take
- 11:36some effort. Even just 5 minutes the
- 11:39night before can make a huge difference.
- 11:41Think about the weather, what you're
- 11:43doing, how you want to feel. That tiny
- 11:46bit of prep will save you so much stress
- 11:48and your outfit will always end up
- 11:50looking more thoughtful and put
- 11:52together. I never put together my most
- 11:55stylish outfits when I'm stressing and
- 11:57in a rush. I think back to my birthday 2
- 12:00weeks ago. I hadn't really thought about
- 12:02what I was going to wear. I thought that
- 12:04maybe an outfit would come to me in like
- 12:06a moment of enlightenment, but obviously
- 12:09like that never happened. I had about 20
- 12:11minutes before I had to leave the house.
- 12:13And I I put on like 10 outfits,
- 12:16panicked, and ended up in a black tank
- 12:19top and blue jeans. And look, it wasn't
- 12:22terrible, but the stress and the chaos
- 12:25it took just to land on a tank top and
- 12:28jeans was so not worth it. Hair is one
- 12:31of the easiest ways to trick people into
- 12:34thinking you've got your life together.
- 12:36You could be wearing the simplest
- 12:38outfit, t-shirt, jeans, very little
- 12:41makeup, maybe you're even running on
- 12:43like no sleep. But if your hair looks
- 12:46intentional, people just assume you know
- 12:48what you're doing. Hair is a very
- 12:51magical tool. It frames your face. It's
- 12:53often the first thing people see about
- 12:56you. It can balance your outfit, and it
- 12:59can really add an element of polish to
- 13:01what you're wearing. What I've realized
- 13:03is that you don't have to spend an hour
- 13:05doing your hair, or getting a fresh
- 13:07blowout every week. Does anyone actually
- 13:09do that? It just has to look like you
- 13:12meant for it to look a certain way. It
- 13:14could be a sleek ponytail, a neat braid,
- 13:17a quick straighten. Whatever works best
- 13:20with your hair type, and whatever takes
- 13:23you the least time to do it is what's
- 13:25going to work for you. A little bit of
- 13:26dry shampoo, a little bit of texturizing
- 13:29spray, maybe some hair oil to smooth
- 13:32down the ends. All these things that
- 13:34take less than 2 minutes make the
- 13:37biggest difference. And don't sleep on
- 13:39hair accessories as well. Adding a
- 13:41little like gold or silver thing to your
- 13:45hair bubble can make such a difference.
- 13:48using a cute claw clip or a French pin.
- 13:52Things that just look like you've put a
- 13:54little bit of effort in when really it
- 13:56took you 30 seconds. That is what we're
- 13:59going for here. One of my hacks when I
- 14:02need to leave the house and I haven't
- 14:03had time to do to do my hair is this
- 14:06Alice band that I have that is a bit
- 14:09puffy. So, it adds some volume to the
- 14:11top of my head. I just pop that in my
- 14:13hair. It looks like I've done something
- 14:16with my hair when I've really done
- 14:18nothing. And it is the easiest trick for
- 14:21me. So, don't underestimate the power of
- 14:23your hair. It's one of the most
- 14:25efficient tools you have for looking
- 14:27instantly more chic and stylish. Have
- 14:30chic offduty outfits. It's really easy
- 14:33to look chic and stylish when you are
- 14:35dressing up for an event. But what about
- 14:38those boring in between days? Because
- 14:41style isn't just for those big moments.
- 14:45It's for everyday life, too. And I don't
- 14:47know about you, but my life is mainly
- 14:50made up of these casual days. A lot of
- 14:53my time is spent at home where I don't
- 14:56need to be dressed up. I'm not meeting
- 14:58up with anyone. Yet, if I pop down the
- 15:01road, I still want to look and feel put
- 15:04together. I also want to take the time
- 15:06here to say you absolutely do not have
- 15:09to care about looking good for every
- 15:12aspect of your life. That just puts way
- 15:14too much pressure on us and is of course
- 15:17completely unrealistic. What I'm trying
- 15:19to get at here is about feeling good
- 15:23even in your don't care outfits. It's
- 15:26not about dressing up for the sake of
- 15:28it. It's just finding a uniform that
- 15:30works for you. It's not sloppy and it's
- 15:33not fussy. Intentional but not overdone.
- 15:36I think Zoe Kravitz is a really great
- 15:38example of this. Her outfits are casual
- 15:42yet she never looks sloppy. And I think
- 15:44this is because she balances elevated
- 15:47loungewear with more polished pieces
- 15:51really well. So, think loungewear and a
- 15:53nice coat or comfy trousers with like a
- 15:57really cool pair of sunglasses or a
- 15:59graphic t-shirt and a cool pair of
- 16:01trousers. And you can tell that her
- 16:04basics are really good quality because
- 16:06they drape really well. They fit her
- 16:09perfectly and that's what adds that bit
- 16:11of polish even when she's technically
- 16:13just wearing sweats. And this is one
- 16:16area of my personal style that I have
- 16:18been trying to cultivate more this year
- 16:21because when it comes down to it, these
- 16:22are actually the outfits that I wear
- 16:24most frequently. So, I've been trying to
- 16:26update them with better materials and
- 16:29better fits and just adding like one or
- 16:33two polished pieces to kind of help the
- 16:37whole thing feel a bit better. So, the
- 16:38next time you are heading out for
- 16:40something low-key, try adding one or two
- 16:43elements of polish to your outfit.
- 16:45Whether that is a great trench coat, a
- 16:48statement necklace, or a cool handbag,
- 16:51these things just make all the
- 16:53difference. You can always tell when
- 16:55someone has great style if there is a
- 16:58really intentional use of color in their
- 17:01outfits. You know me, I love my
- 17:03neutrals. white, black, gray, beige,
- 17:07navy. I love them all. These colors are
- 17:10the backbone to my wardrobe. But I also
- 17:13really admire when people know how to
- 17:15use color in the right way. It can feel
- 17:18bold and refined at the same time. And
- 17:21the best color pairings have contrast,
- 17:24they have balance, and they have
- 17:26harmony. So here are a couple of color
- 17:28pairings that I have been really drawn
- 17:30to at the moment. So firstly, chartreuse
- 17:33and brown. I think these two complement
- 17:35each other so beautifully. Chartreuse is
- 17:39such an unexpected shade. It sits
- 17:41somewhere between like yellow and green
- 17:44and it almost has this electric vibrancy
- 17:47to it. So when you pair it with a rich
- 17:49earthy brown, it just creates this
- 17:52gorgeous balance of warm and cool tones.
- 17:55And honestly, chartreuse kind of works
- 17:58with a lot. It's surprisingly versatile.
- 18:01You can pair it with cream, navy, gray,
- 18:03or even lilac or dusty pink. And it just
- 18:07manages to bring out something special.
- 18:10I'm also loving brown and light blue. I
- 18:13think this one is perfect if you want
- 18:15something more lowkey, but still
- 18:17interesting. The light blue pops against
- 18:20brown. It's soft and fresh and easy to
- 18:22wear. And the brown just gives the look
- 18:25some depth. And I've also been loving
- 18:27red and white. I feel like it's really
- 18:29crisp and clean and striking, especially
- 18:32for spring and summer. So, I can't wait
- 18:34to style more red and white outfits this
- 18:37season. If you're new to color, I would
- 18:39recommend starting with accessories. So,
- 18:42maybe a handbag or a scarf or even
- 18:45trying out a new nail color, something
- 18:47that is easy to change if you don't like
- 18:51it. It can ease you in without
- 18:53overwhelming your whole outfit. I hope
- 18:55this video was helpful and it gave you
- 18:57some inspiration for the new season. If
- 19:00you want to stick around, you might be
- 19:01interested in this video on screen,
- 19:03which is all about spring summer trends
- 19:05you need to avoid and what to wear
- 19:07instead. Thank you for watching and I
- 19:09will see you in my next video. Bye.
