1. 0:01My dear friends and my dear brethren, greetings.
2. 0:05We are at the monastery of Trikorfo, under the protection of the Panagia,
3. 0:10in the Holy Metropolis of Phocis (Fokida).
4. 0:14Here, the faith and love of our people are turned into works.
5. 0:21A great work that has been accomplished is the building, from the ground up,
6. 0:26of the entire men's monastery
7. 0:29as well as our women's monastery.
8. 0:32The men's monastery, however, became known
9. 0:36for the largest bell tower in the world,
10. 0:40with its 400 semantra and 62 bells,
11. 0:44built to recall, as the old legend tells,
12. 0:47Hagia Sophia in Constantinople.
13. 0:50Here at the monastery,
14. 0:52besides the bell tower,
15. 0:56a display of mosaic icons and other mosaics
16. 1:01has now become the center
17. 1:04of our faith,
18. 1:05where
19. 1:07crowds of people come, not only to hear the bells,
20. 1:11but also to see the beautiful mosaics of our Holy Monastery.
21. 1:18First, the mosaic of our Panagia was created,
22. 1:22which welcomes the pilgrims at the entrance of the Monastery:
23. 1:27the Panagia "Gerontissa" (the Eldress).
24. 1:30Then came the mosaics of the Saints that adorn the bell tower,
25. 1:35and others followed as well.
26. 1:38After these works were completed,
27. 1:41two more large mosaics followed,
28. 1:45which were designed and installed
29. 1:48by the fathers of our Holy Monastery themselves.
30. 1:52The Crucified Christ, 16 meters high,
31. 1:57is made up of
32. 2:00720,000 tesserae,
33. 2:04that is, real stones.
34. 2:07Thousands of tiny pieces were joined together to depict Him,
35. 2:13our Jesus,
36. 2:14who stretched out His hands upon the Cross
37. 2:17for the salvation of us all, out of His love.
38. 2:22And the icon of the glorious Resurrection of our Christ
39. 2:26was placed at a particularly symbolic spot:
40. 2:30the place where, every Holy Saturday,
41. 2:34the Resurrection of our Christ is celebrated.
42. 2:38There, all together, we loudly proclaim: Christ is risen!
43. 2:45These two great works
44. 2:47have already been installed, as I told you,
45. 2:50made of thousands of tesserae,
46. 2:52and together with the Saints and other mosaics they already adorn our Holy Monastery,
47. 3:00which, my brethren, is well worth a visit,
48. 3:04not only to hear the bells,
49. 3:06but also to see these beautiful mosaics of ours.
50. 3:11Two sacred works
51. 3:13that remind us that after Golgotha
52. 3:16comes the Resurrection of our Christ;
53. 3:19that Christ is the Resurrection and the Light in our lives.
54. 3:24Our beloved brethren and friends,
55. 3:27from 1985 until today, our monastery
56. 3:33has been built without state or European funding, without aid packages,
57. 3:41and without wealthy donors.
58. 3:43For more than 40 years now
59. 3:47you have trusted us,
60. 3:49supported us and stood by us throughout this difficult work.
61. 3:54Thanks to your love,
62. 3:57works that once seemed impossible to us
63. 4:02are a reality today.
64. 4:05Today, however, I turn once again to your love with a fatherly request.
65. 4:11For these two great mosaics,
66. 4:15the Crucifixion and the Resurrection of Christ,
67. 4:18we still have to pay off the outstanding cost of their creation.
68. 4:22That is why I ask once more
69. 4:25for your support, your love and your help.
70. 4:29Whoever wishes,
71. 4:31whoever can,
72. 4:33whoever is able.
73. 4:35All of you who have supported us all these years,
74. 4:38I ask you once again now
75. 4:40to help us clear the debt and pay off
76. 4:44these two mosaics,
77. 4:46the Crucifixion and the Resurrection of our Lord.
78. 4:50That is why I ask your love: please do not forget us.
79. 4:55A small or a large offering is precious
80. 4:58when it is given from the heart.
81. 5:01All of you can help,
82. 5:04with a little or with more.
