  1. 0:00it's a journey that I truly believe that
  2. 0:02I was always meant to make um because of
  3. 0:05yeah it was the day before the bombings
  4. 0:07happened that it was announced that
  5. 0:08London had won the Olympic bid and uh
  6. 0:11just weird coincidences that have
  7. 0:13happened over the last seven years that
  8. 0:16um you know it's it sort of told me that
  9. 0:19I think I was meant to make this journey
  10. 0:21so yeah I mean you know one memory was
  11. 0:25queuing up to go into the opening
  12. 0:28ceremony you know um and then suddenly
  13. 0:30walking in in front of 880,000 people
  14. 0:33going absolutely mad which was which was
  15. 0:35amazing but it it really reminded me of
  16. 0:39of the journey that I think I was always
  17. 0:40supposed to make um it's been it's been
  18. 0:43a summer for people crying in sporting
  19. 0:45events or for spectators or indeed for
  20. 0:47the you know the occasional person on
  21. 0:49telly and when you received the award
  22. 0:53from the policewoman who effectively
  23. 0:56saved your life I I could not
  24. 0:58effectively there's no question about it
  25. 1:00she sa she saved your life you know
  26. 1:02there were there were one or two tears I
  27. 1:04could see from people in the audience as
  28. 1:05a camera pan to them how how could you
  29. 1:08how could you describe a relationship
  30. 1:10with someone like that when you know
  31. 1:11that you wouldn't be here were it not
  32. 1:13for
  33. 1:14her oh I I don't think you can you can
  34. 1:17really describe it um Liz is the most
  35. 1:21unassuming woman I've ever met I mean
  36. 1:24you know not that I'm saying policemen
  37. 1:26are not unassuming or police women but
  38. 1:28she's so gentle and so um you know
  39. 1:32there's there's no question that I would
  40. 1:33not be here if it weren't for her and
  41. 1:36obviously we do share a strong bond we
  42. 1:38might we not we don't talk to each other
  43. 1:40every week or every month um but it's
  44. 1:44like you just got this you know all I
  45. 1:47had to do tonight was get up on that
  46. 1:48stage and just look into our eyes and
  47. 1:50that was one thing I always remember
  48. 1:52that day of her coming through the
  49. 1:53carriage and just give her a hug and I
  50. 1:56will never ever be able to put into
  51. 1:58words what she did for me that day um I
  52. 2:02mean I I hope she she understands that
  53. 2:05there's that I know she understands that
  54. 2:07I've never going to be able to um
  55. 2:09vocalize that but yeah you you can't
  56. 2:13describe the relationship and there's no
  57. 2:16way that I would have been here now
  58. 2:18talking to you if it if it wasn't for
  59. 2:20her
