- 0:00How many times have you thought "I want
- 0:01to change my life"? Usually, you start
- 0:04thinking about this in September, in
- 0:05January, or the day after your birthday
- 0:07, and that time you decide you're
- 0:08really going to change. You even make a
- 0:10list. That morning, you wake up 20
- 0:12minutes early, go to the gym, and
- 0:13you've even decided you'll find another
- 0:15job. Then the moment comes when you
- 0:16skip that workout, and you say, "Why am
- 0:18I even doing this?" And you open social
- 0:20media. You start scrolling through
- 0:22stories and videos of people who made
- 0:23it. And all those times, if you're a
- 0:26bit like me, you start feeling
- 0:27inadequate, blaming yourself, you start
- 0:29saying you're not enough, that they are
- 0:31better than you, and you start over,
- 0:32finding yourself exactly back at the
- 0:34starting point. And the conclusion you
- 0:37reach is that you are the problem, that
- 0:39you don't have enough consistency, you
- 0:40don't have enough motivation, that you
- 0:42are not enough. But what I can tell you
- 0:44is that you can change your life in 6
- 0:46months, even if right now it seems
- 0:48completely impossible. And I know this
- 0:50because that’s what I did a few years
- 0:52ago. And in this video, I will show you
- 0:54exactly the process anyone can follow
- 0:55to turn their life upside down in the
- 0:57next 6 months. Let's begin. A couple of
- 0:59warnings before we start. First of all,
- 1:01in this video, I won't give you a
- 1:03series of ultra-easy tips that will
- 1:05change your life, but I will give you a
- 1:06plan. And it's a plan that will be
- 1:09difficult to follow because,
- 1:11like anything of value in life,
- 1:13contrary to what they show us, it is
- 1:14not easy. The second thing is that,
- 1:17before giving you the plan, I want you
- 1:19to understand how I got there: what was
- 1:21the moment that made me completely turn
- 1:23my life around, that made me realize
- 1:24that what I was doing up until then
- 1:26would never have worked, at least for
- 1:28the results I wanted to achieve. And if
- 1:30I am here today, it is thanks to that
- 1:31moment, and it happened one evening in
- 1:33January 2021. We were in the middle of
- 1:36Covid; you remember the feeling of that
- 1:38period too, and as for my Covid, my
- 1:40pandemic, aside from very heavy things
- 1:41that happened, as happened to many of
- 1:43us, unfortunately, I didn't want to
- 1:45admit it, but I had reached that point
- 1:47in my life. At the time, I was 34 years
- 1:50old, in that January with the exact
- 1:52same list from previous years. Even
- 1:55though my life had been completely
- 1:56turned upside down and I had realized
- 1:57that something wasn't working, I still
- 1:59didn't understand how to unlock my life
- 2:01. I had a normal, regular life; I was
- 2:03working as a lawyer in Alessandria, I
- 2:05had my own firm, things weren't going
- 2:06badly, but I realized that what I had
- 2:08at that moment wasn't what I truly
- 2:09aspired to. Then, during that period, I
- 2:11really started to read more, and I
- 2:13started following various creators on
- 2:15YouTube. The reason I am talking to you
- 2:17in this video today is thanks to that
- 2:18moment. I picked up a book, a book I
- 2:20had given very little chance in my life
- 2:22, or rather, I had just put it on a
- 2:23shelf, saying, "Okay, sooner or later
- 2:25I'll read it." And it's Atomic Habits.
- 2:27It’s a book I deeply love, and it’s
- 2:29a shitty book—I mean, it’s not even
- 2:31written well, translated in my opinion
- 2:33in a chilling way into Italian, and
- 2:34it's a book so basic in what it
- 2:36explains that you don't even want to
- 2:38read it, I assure you. But that book is
- 2:40a sort of life plan. If you read it
- 2:42with the idea that it is a system and
- 2:44not something narrative or meant to
- 2:46explain something to you, it lights up
- 2:48your existence. And there is a phrase
- 2:50that changed everything: I only
- 2:52understood it a few years later, and it
- 2:54sounds more or less like, "You do not
- 2:56rise to the level of your goals, you
- 2:58fall to the level of your systems." It
- 3:01instilled in me the idea that the
- 3:03problem was exactly the goals, the
- 3:05problem was my desires, what I wanted,
- 3:07that the problem was that I hoped to
- 3:09reach them—I hope to earn more, I
- 3:11hope my life goes well, I hope to find
- 3:13someone. The problem is that hope is
- 3:16not a plan; hope is simply hope. And
- 3:18the second thing I realized is that I
- 3:20was turning to the wrong people. I was
- 3:23looking at people who were too far
- 3:25ahead of me, while there were a lot of
- 3:27people who had been through it before
- 3:28me at that moment and who were just a
- 3:30few little steps further along the path
- 3:32, not in explaining existence to me,
- 3:33but in understanding how to live life.
- 3:36And so, a world truly opened up for me
- 3:38there, because I realized that if
- 3:39someone was a few steps ahead of me, if
- 3:41they had managed to take that little
- 3:43piece of the road before me, I could
- 3:44copy them and do it too. And the best
- 3:46news in the world and of this whole
- 3:48video is that you don't have to invent
- 3:50anything; you just need to see how the
- 3:52people you observe and follow every day
- 3:53made it happen. So what I want you to
- 3:55take away from this story, which is
- 3:57what I took away from that book and
- 3:58which will explain how to truly change
- 4:00your life in the next 6 months, is that
- 4:02a goal tells you where you want to go,
- 4:04while a system tells you what you need
- 4:06to do tomorrow morning at 7:00. For 20
- 4:08years I only had the goal part and I
- 4:09wondered why it wasn't enough, but then
- 4:11I understood. The real question,
- 4:13however, is another one and it's the
- 4:14one I asked myself that evening. Why 6
- 4:16months? Why not a year, as we all say,
- 4:19or 3 months, or a month, or two weeks?
- 4:21Simply because the year is the wrong
- 4:23measure for getting things done, and
- 4:25the Americans understood this
- 4:27economically. We Italians are terrible
- 4:29at it because you start something in
- 4:31January and December seems like a very
- 4:32distant thing. December doesn't exist,
- 4:35you don't see it, and then you get to
- 4:36the end of October, November, and you
- 4:38say, "Damn, I'm behind, I have to do
- 4:39something," and we all rush to do
- 4:41something in that December. But in the
- 4:42meantime, we have wasted 11 months
- 4:44before that moment. The point is that
- 4:46if you don't see something, if you
- 4:48don't see the end, you can't feel it as
- 4:50real. The maximum distance we can look
- 4:52ahead as human beings psychologically
- 4:54is 12 weeks, which is exactly 3 months,
- 4:57and 6 months is two 12-week cycles. And
- 5:00one thing I understood is that the
- 5:01books and videos that changed something
- 5:03in me weren't the ones that hyped me up
- 5:04and gave me a blast, but were those
- 5:06that gave me a system to follow, that
- 5:08told me how I could set up my Sunday,
- 5:09Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and the
- 5:11weeks to come. So, if you also think
- 5:13these are the things you need,
- 5:14subscribe to the channel, so you let me
- 5:15know that this is the right path and
- 5:17that we can do it together. So, let's
- 5:19look at these five systems that will
- 5:20revolutionize your life in the next 6
- 5:22months, and the first one is not what
- 5:24you think; it’s not about money,
- 5:25it’s not about health, but it’s
- 5:27about the most important thing we have,
- 5:29which is time. And you have to start
- 5:31with time, because if you don't fix the
- 5:33way you organize your days, even if it
- 5:35feels like you have no time, you can't
- 5:36make room for all the other things
- 5:38you'll need to change your life. And so
- 5:41if you don't do this now in March, the
- 5:42following Monday, your birthday, or in
- 5:44September, you will be right back at
- 5:46square one. I already know what you're
- 5:48thinking, because I would think it too:
- 5:49oh, but I've already used tons of
- 5:51planners, I have tons of apps, tons of
- 5:53systems to organize things, but then in
- 5:54the end, after a little while, I can't
- 5:56use them anymore. And the reason is
- 5:58that we use planners or calendars in
- 6:00the wrong way. We put things in
- 6:02calendars and to-do lists that we think
- 6:04we want to do, not what we actually do.
- 6:08And so, after a week or two, more or
- 6:10less, planners and to-do lists become a
- 6:12list of reprimands against ourselves
- 6:14for the things that, for some reason,
- 6:16we weren't able to do or follow through
- 6:18on. So the first thing to do, the same
- 6:21one I did first, and it was truly
- 6:23counterintuitive, is not to write
- 6:24anything for a whole week; don't mark
- 6:26down the things you want to do, but
- 6:28mark down the things you do during the
- 6:30week. Write only what really happened
- 6:33in an analytical and detailed way, from
- 6:35when you wake up to when you go to
- 6:36sleep. It’s a truly crazy use of a
- 6:39planner, or rather, it might seem crazy
- 6:40, but then when you look at it at the
- 6:42end of the week, you discover two
- 6:43things. The first is where you actually
- 6:46spent your hours of time, and the
- 6:48second is that what you told yourself
- 6:50about your life 99%does not exist. We
- 6:52are truly poor as human beings at
- 6:54evaluating our lives and the commitment
- 6:56of our time. And here you discover why
- 6:58the other planners and other systems
- 7:00didn't work before, because you were
- 7:02trying to plan without knowing your
- 7:03life, without understanding where you
- 7:05could steal some time, and where
- 7:06instead you couldn't move it. The
- 7:08second week is for planning, and to do
- 7:10that, you start with the blocks that
- 7:12you cannot change: work, taking the
- 7:14kids to school, sleeping. And then you
- 7:17insert three first, very simple blocks:
- 7:19one for your mind, one for your body,
- 7:20and one for the project that will
- 7:22change your life. You start simple, 3
- 7:24hours a week, and those become your
- 7:26blocks, the non-negotiable ones, the
- 7:27ones where you don't say, "I'll move it
- 7:29again"; if it gets skipped for two
- 7:31weeks in a row, you don't change the
- 7:32block, you simply change the time,
- 7:34because you won't just "find" the time.
- 7:37There is no warehouse of time you can
- 7:38draw from somewhere, "look, the time
- 7:39warehouse, I'll go get myself a few
- 7:40more hours," no, the time is what it is
- 7:41. So if you want to do something
- 7:44important in your life, you necessarily
- 7:45have to take time away from something
- 7:46else. You absolutely must start
- 7:48choosing what you do in your life and
- 7:50what you really want. And what you will
- 7:52do on the last Sunday of the month is
- 7:54look at how many times you stuck to
- 7:55those blocks, and from there,
- 7:56understand how your life is evolving.
- 7:58By the end of that first month,
- 7:59you’ll have a number that tells you
- 8:01more about yourself than you’ve
- 8:02understood in previous years, I assure
- 8:04you. And when you start using this
- 8:06block-based life planning system, after
- 8:08a few weeks, you'll find that you know
- 8:10where your time goes, and another
- 8:12question will start to come to mind:
- 8:13where the hell does my money go? And
- 8:17this always happens; it happened to me
- 8:18too, because we can complain, or be the
- 8:20type who says, "No, no, money doesn't
- 8:21interest me." But in reality, money is
- 8:24part of our life and is a fundamental,
- 8:26central element for having freedom in
- 8:28our lives. And I tell you this because
- 8:30I know exactly what it means to have no
- 8:32money. I know what it means to scrape
- 8:34together coins or break open the piggy
- 8:36bank, because I really did have a piggy
- 8:38bank to buy groceries for Christmas.
- 8:41And I’m not telling you this to get
- 8:42praise or sympathy—I couldn't care
- 8:44less about that—I’m telling you
- 8:45this to explain why this is the part of
- 8:47this video that is closest to my heart.
- 8:49In fact, money doesn't buy happiness,
- 8:51but it buys something much more
- 8:52important: it buys time, the very thing
- 8:53we were talking about before. Because
- 8:55those who are truly wealthy don’t buy
- 8:57a Ferrari or a Rolex; they buy the
- 8:58possibility to choose. They have the
- 9:01possibility to decide whether to work
- 9:02or not, whether to go somewhere or not;
- 9:04they have the possibility to pay
- 9:05someone to do something, the
- 9:06possibility to travel with their family
- 9:08, to choose their own life. So they
- 9:10have more options than everyone else.
- 9:12Therefore, saying that money doesn't
- 9:14bring happiness is total nonsense. And
- 9:16to manage my money and understand where
- 9:17it goes, to build the life I want and
- 9:19achieve my goals, I use a very simple
- 9:21system. I divide all my income, all my
- 9:23money, according to a formula called
- 9:2515-65-20. 65%of what I earn is
- 9:28earmarked for my daily expenses: the
- 9:30mortgage, bills, groceries, everything
- 9:33I need to live. 20%goes to investments;
- 9:36there are no two ways about it, every
- 9:38month what comes in, 20%goes straight
- 9:40into an investment. And 15%is a buffer;
- 9:43I can use it for luxury expenses, as
- 9:45they say, to do whatever the hell I
- 9:47want, to put it more simply, or it can
- 9:49end up being invested, or end up
- 9:51somewhere else. In short, 15%is the
- 9:53buffer between what I earn and what I
- 9:55know I’ll set aside because I want to
- 9:56be a financially responsible person.
- 9:59The point, however, isn’t the numbers
- 10:01or how much you earn, but the decision
- 10:02you make to change your financial life.
- 10:05It’s an agreement you make with
- 10:06yourself, and you stick to it forever.
- 10:08And personally, the first thing I did
- 10:09was eliminate my debts. I can't stand
- 10:12debt, especially because most of the
- 10:14debts we take on are for things that
- 10:16aren't worth the money—like a car, a
- 10:18phone, or a vacation. Generally, the
- 10:21first thing to do when you decide to
- 10:23change your financial life is to pay
- 10:24off all high-interest debt as quickly
- 10:26as possible. The only debt I consider
- 10:29reasonable, if done intelligently, is a
- 10:32mortgage to buy a home or debt used to
- 10:34invest and generate more money.
- 10:37Otherwise, debt is just a trap where we
- 10:39end up paying much more than things are
- 10:41actually worth. You can have all the
- 10:43money in the world and all the time you
- 10:45want, but it’s completely useless if
- 10:46you get home in the evening feeling
- 10:48like trash, a rag thrown on the sofa—
- 10:49an old rag, as my grandmother would say
- 10:51. To feel good and not like an old rag,
- 10:54you don’t need strange diets, gyms,
- 10:56or special workouts; you don’t need
- 10:59to perform alchemy, because health is
- 11:01based solely on three pillars:
- 11:03nutrition, sleep, and physical exercise
- 11:05. So, everything else is just marketing
- 11:08, and for nutrition, what I changed in
- 11:10my life was my approach; I didn't
- 11:12follow a fad diet, a guru, or anything
- 11:14specific. I started to be more aware of
- 11:17what I was eating. I got informed, I
- 11:19went to a nutritionist who explained
- 11:20the difference between fats,
- 11:22carbohydrates, and proteins, and I
- 11:23started drinking more, meaning I
- 11:25hydrated more. I always had a water
- 11:27bottle nearby, I cut out
- 11:28ultra-processed foods, and I reduced
- 11:30alcohol to almost nothing. I only drink
- 11:32wine on occasion, I’ve limited sugar
- 11:34and caffeine, and every meal I have is
- 11:36composed of protein, fats, and
- 11:38carbohydrates. And the thing that
- 11:39allowed me to maintain this routine is
- 11:41the system. I meal prep on Sunday
- 11:43evenings, and most importantly, I only
- 11:45keep good food in the house because if
- 11:46you don't have junk food, you end up
- 11:48not eating it. It’s like when you
- 11:50quit smoking: you don’t keep
- 11:51cigarettes in the house, so you can’t
- 11:52smoke. Then there is sleep, which is
- 11:54the thing we all absolutely
- 11:55underestimate, myself included, but
- 11:56it’s the thing that influences
- 11:58everything else the most. It affects
- 12:00your mood, your health, and your
- 12:01productivity during the day, and as you
- 12:03get older, it becomes much harder to
- 12:05have healthy sleep. And here, the thing
- 12:07that has influenced me most wasn't so
- 12:09much the number of hours, but what I
- 12:11suggest is finding a set bedtime,
- 12:13keeping a maximum variation of 30
- 12:15minutes for falling asleep and waking
- 12:17up. Even on the weekend, it doesn't
- 12:19work like it did when we were teenagers
- 12:21, when we could sleep for like 16 hours
- 12:22and make up for the seven days we
- 12:23hadn't slept. And then there is
- 12:25physical exercise. You can't expect to
- 12:27have a happy life, you can't expect to
- 12:29change your life if you can't handle it
- 12:30physically. And here too, there's no
- 12:32need to become a triathlete. You can
- 12:34start with three workouts a week, nice
- 12:36and easy, nothing fancy, or just some
- 12:37simple cardio. And know that there are
- 12:39plenty of days when I look at my gym
- 12:41bag, or look at the slot on the
- 12:43calendar that says "workout" and I
- 12:44don't feel like it; but I assure you,
- 12:46the moment you put it in your schedule,
- 12:48you go just to keep the commitment to
- 12:49yourself. And that is the reason why
- 12:51you need to organize your time in
- 12:52blocks. Then there is the fourth thing,
- 12:54the fourth system that everyone leaves
- 12:56aside, but it is the one that keeps all
- 12:57the others standing and it is not
- 12:59motivation. It is something extremely
- 13:01more boring, because, in fact,
- 13:02motivation doesn't exist and. That
- 13:04system is your mind, it's the way you
- 13:06think, and to fix it, 20 minutes of
- 13:07reading a day is enough. You just need
- 13:10to buy a Kindle; I know you like paper
- 13:11books, I like paper books too, I have
- 13:13them everywhere, but the Kindle changes
- 13:15your reading life and you just need to
- 13:16start reading for 20 minutes a day.
- 13:19Those 20 minutes that I used to waste
- 13:20in the bathroom on my phone, I now use
- 13:22to read obviously, or that time you
- 13:23spend on the train, subway, or bus—I
- 13:24won't say in the car because you have
- 13:26to drive. And 20 minutes is more or
- 13:28less 10 pages a day. And 10 pages for
- 13:31180 days makes 1800 pages. Eight books,
- 13:33eight more books in your life, eight
- 13:35books that could give you a lead, a
- 13:36stimulus, an idea without changing
- 13:38anything in your routine. And reading
- 13:39is the thing that has influenced my
- 13:41existence the most. If I am here
- 13:42talking to you today, it's because I
- 13:43started reading again a few years ago,
- 13:45and it truly changed my life. And what
- 13:47if reading is the first half? The
- 13:48second half of this system for our mind
- 13:50is writing. And no, I am not telling
- 13:53you to become a novelist, but I am
- 13:54simply telling you to write three lines
- 13:55about your life every evening. I
- 13:58started a few years ago with a book
- 13:59called One a Day, actually a small
- 14:01diary that allows you to write one line
- 14:03a day that you can review over 5 years,
- 14:04so on every page, you have 5 years of
- 14:06your life. Then, a few years later, I
- 14:08moved to an app called Day One. It’s
- 14:11an incredible app and the most useful
- 14:12thing you can do in your existence
- 14:14because you can understand how your
- 14:15mind thinks during certain periods, you
- 14:17can go back to see what you talked
- 14:18about before, and you can also remember
- 14:20what you’ve done in your life, which
- 14:22is really cool. And this allows you to
- 14:24do a sort of psychological self-therapy
- 14:26every time you pick it back up. And the
- 14:28last of these systems is the only one
- 14:30that doesn't depend on you,
- 14:31unfortunately, but personally, it’s
- 14:33also the one that changed my life the
- 14:34most and influenced me, making me the
- 14:36person I am today. And this system is
- 14:38social networks, or rather, it concerns
- 14:41people. We all say it's social media's
- 14:43fault. We all say we waste a lot of
- 14:44time on Instagram, on TikTok, on
- 14:46YouTube, or on any kind of social media
- 14:48that is full of nonsense, people doing
- 14:50dances. The truth is that we are simply
- 14:52lazy, because these systems are indeed
- 14:54made to keep us glued, they are
- 14:56engineered to keep us scrolling, to
- 14:58keep capturing our attention. But if
- 15:01you remove all these distractions and
- 15:02all this nonsense that we love so much,
- 15:04obviously, what remains is the most
- 15:06incredible thing there is. You can
- 15:09learn from the real experience of
- 15:10billions of people who have certainly
- 15:12had your problem before you, and it
- 15:13allowed me to overcome a huge block.
- 15:16Because, unfortunately, we don't choose
- 15:18where we are born (or fortunately,
- 15:19sometimes), and therefore we are often
- 15:21surrounded by people who don't
- 15:23stimulate us, by people who don't have
- 15:25our same ambitions, who can't teach us
- 15:27anything, and who, unfortunately,
- 15:28negatively influence our life. Social
- 15:30networks allow us to overcome this. So
- 15:32what I tell you is to start following
- 15:34people who inspire you, start following
- 15:35people who are a small step ahead of
- 15:37you. What I’ve done over the last few
- 15:39years is what I do today, and it’s
- 15:41what truly influenced my existence,
- 15:42allowing me to change it in 6 months.
- 15:44Don't worry, don't be afraid. The worst
- 15:47thing that can happen is they don't
- 15:48reply, maybe because they're jerks,
- 15:49maybe they don't feel like it, or maybe
- 15:50they don't have the time. But you
- 15:52should write to these people; everyone
- 15:54replied to me. Maybe one out of 10
- 15:56didn't answer, and I found people to
- 15:58truly engage with, through whom I
- 16:00experienced incredible personal growth.
- 16:02I’ve gained much more from strangers
- 16:04I saw on social media than from people
- 16:06I’ve known my whole life. And now the
- 16:08most important thing in this entire
- 16:10video, in this whole system for
- 16:11changing your life: after 3 months,
- 16:13draw a line, take those five areas we
- 16:15talked about and draw a simple line
- 16:16asking, "Okay, where have I reached,
- 16:18how can I improve them?" Because this
- 16:20is what will guide you in the following
- 16:22three months, which will lead you to
- 16:24say, "Damn, who was I 6 months ago?"
- 16:26And despite social media, we still have
- 16:28to deal with people. And if you want to
- 16:30know how I changed my relationship with
- 16:32others and started to truly make them
- 16:33respect me, I’ll show you in this
- 16:34video on the right. I truly wish you
- 16:36the best and send you a hug.
