  1. 0:00Hello everyone. Today I’ll tell you
  2. 0:02about how I’m currently learning
  3. 0:04English. I’ve had experience with
  4. 0:07Duolingo, Lingualeo, Anki, and so on,
  5. 0:10but it never really clicked. My current
  6. 0:13method lets me stay entirely within my
  7. 0:15favorite app, Obsidian, and learn
  8. 0:17everything in one place. For those who
  9. 0:20don't know, I'm a frontend developer,
  10. 0:23tech lead, and instructor. There is a
  11. 0:25link to my Telegram in the description.
  12. 0:27Subscribe, like, and all that good
  13. 0:29stuff. So, what do we need to make this
  14. 0:32method work? Well, obviously, we need
  15. 0:35Obsidian itself. Installing it is no
  16. 0:37trouble at all. Next, we need the
  17. 0:39Spaced Repetition plugin. Click on the
  18. 0:42gear icon, community plugins, and
  19. 0:44browse. The Spaced Repetition plugin
  20. 0:47will appear here. Here it is. 600,000
  21. 0:50downloads. The name reflects its
  22. 0:53essence: we review something at certain
  23. 0:56intervals. Once installed, we can close
  24. 1:00that window. And here we toggle it to
  25. 1:03ensure the plugin is active. That’s
  26. 1:06it, the plugin is installed. But now,
  27. 1:07there is a problem. We need a bank of
  28. 1:11words to review. Create a folder here
  29. 1:15named "Foreign Languages" or "English
  30. 1:17Language." Inside that, create a folder
  31. 1:20, for example, "Vocabulary." Once the
  32. 1:23folder is created, right-click and
  33. 1:25select "Show in system explorer." Now,
  34. 1:29right-click again and select "Open with
  35. 1:32Code." This will open our folder in
  36. 1:36your IDE, the code editor. But the most
  37. 1:40important thing here is, of course, our
  38. 1:43AI agent. We will use it to generate
  39. 1:47notes with words for us to review. The
  40. 1:51prompt for the note depends on your
  41. 1:53level. If you don't know any English at
  42. 1:55all, your prompt looks like this. Hi, I
  43. 1:58want to learn English. Create a note
  44. 2:00for me with the top 500 words for the
  45. 2:03Spaced Repetition plugin. Basically,
  46. 2:07that's it. It will think for a moment.
  47. 2:10By the way, you can use a simpler model
  48. 2:12, not Opus 3.5, because this isn't the
  49. 2:14most complex task. If you're already
  50. 2:18advanced, you can create notes on
  51. 2:20specific topics, like body and health,
  52. 2:22weather, city and nature, hotels, food,
  53. 2:24shopping, and so on. What will you get
  54. 2:28as a result? You will get a note like
  55. 2:30this. That is: word, double colon,
  56. 2:36translation. That's it. Once our note
  57. 2:40is created, we can safely close VS Code
  58. 2:43and head back to Obsidian. By the way,
  59. 2:46the notes we created will automatically
  60. 2:48load here as well. So, what do we do
  61. 2:51next? This is essentially working
  62. 2:53exclusively for us now. First, we make
  63. 2:57sure to open Obsidian every single day
  64. 3:00and click here to study the flashcards.
  65. 3:03So, I’ve clicked on study flashcards.
  66. 3:05I have a lot of them here. We can
  67. 3:09collapse some and start studying a
  68. 3:11specific word bank we’ve chosen. How
  69. 3:15does it work? I clicked on the IT
  70. 3:17Architecture note. Here is the term "
  71. 3:21Blue Green Deployment." I remember this
  72. 3:23one, for example. I click "show answer"
  73. 3:26and then "easy," because I recalled it
  74. 3:29easily. It’s entirely up to your own
  75. 3:32integrity and judgment how you choose.
  76. 3:35We click "easy." Failover, for example,
  77. 3:38I don’t remember. I click "again,"
  78. 3:41and in one minute, it will show me this
  79. 3:45note again. For example, this one is
  80. 3:49hard. And that’s how we study these
  81. 3:51words. What did I want to say? Any
  82. 3:54advice? Don't spread yourself too thin.
  83. 3:57You can see here that I have eight
  84. 3:59words in training, 16 here, and 73 here
  85. 4:02. You need to go in order. Perfect one
  86. 4:06bank. Then move on to the next bank.
  87. 4:10And in this way, we’ll build a
  88. 4:13foundation for our vocabulary. That’s
  89. 4:17pretty much it. This is my entire
  90. 4:19method. I wouldn't call it complex, nor
  91. 4:21simple, but it works for me, and maybe
  92. 4:24it will work for you. Thank you for
  93. 4:27your attention. Subscribe to the
  94. 4:28channel, hit the like button, and bye.
