  1. 0:15Hello everyone. I recently decided to
  2. 0:17read the "Umineko When They Cry" manga.
  3. 0:19I got curious about what kind of
  4. 0:20powerful verse it really is. And now
  5. 0:22you will find out what the deal with
  6. 0:24the seagulls is, actually. Before we
  7. 0:25start the main topic, don't forget to
  8. 0:27subscribe to Boosty. Because the fight
  9. 0:29between Satoru Gojo and Madara, as well
  10. 0:31as a video about Batman, are already on
  11. 0:33Boosty. So, in the comments under my
  12. 0:35videos, people often wrote to me about
  13. 0:36Featherine and the Umineko characters.
  14. 0:38Allegedly, they are super strong. I
  15. 0:40started reading the manga. And imagine
  16. 0:43my disappointment when I read the first
  17. 0:45episode, and it was just a story about
  18. 0:48a murder on an island. I thought, "Well
  19. 0:50, in the second part, there will be
  20. 0:52something fun." The second episode
  21. 0:54begins, and they reset the story and
  22. 0:56start it over, showing the characters '
  23. 0:58relationships from a different angle
  24. 1:01and presenting the story differently.
  25. 1:03The locations where people are killed
  26. 1:05change, and the sequence of deaths
  27. 1:07changes. At the same time, Battler, who
  28. 1:10supposedly died in the first episode,
  29. 1:12denies the existence of magic and
  30. 1:13witches and sits in a room with
  31. 1:15Beatrice. Battler, even seeing a
  32. 1:17supposed witch in front of him, refuses
  33. 1:19to believe in her. Then Beatrice starts
  34. 1:22playing games and highlighting the
  35. 1:24facts she speaks in red. These facts
  36. 1:27are 100%reliable. After Battler solved
  37. 1:31the mystery of how the killer managed
  38. 1:33to pull off the murder in the chapel,
  39. 1:35it becomes clear that there is no magic
  40. 1:36in this universe, as all murders are
  41. 1:38committed by a person or group of
  42. 1:40people. It’s just that Battler,
  43. 1:42because he doesn't want to suspect any
  44. 1:44of the eighteen people who were on the
  45. 1:46island, cannot find the killer. While
  46. 1:48reading the second part, I was confused
  47. 1:50by the fact that Kanon and Shannon
  48. 1:52started using magic, since by that
  49. 1:54moment I had already realized there was
  50. 1:56no magic in the verse. These two really
  51. 1:59confused me. So, there are no mages in
  52. 2:01the story at all. This is an ordinary
  53. 2:03detective story. Moreover, all magical
  54. 2:05murders can be explained, as the
  55. 2:07killings are committed by ordinary
  56. 2:08people. Plus, as I understood from the
  57. 2:11restart in the second part and the
  58. 2:13beginning of the third, subsequent
  59. 2:14parts will reset the story, changing
  60. 2:16the locations for the murders and the
  61. 2:17sequence of the murders themselves.
  62. 2:20Since the manga follows the visual
  63. 2:22novel, I dare to assume that each of
  64. 2:23these restarts is an alternative plan
  65. 2:25for eliminating the family. Also, based
  66. 2:28on the fact that the servants in the
  67. 2:30house were so insistently proving the
  68. 2:31existence of this Madame Beatrice back
  69. 2:33in the first part, one of the servants
  70. 2:35is cooperating with the killer, helping
  71. 2:37them eliminate the others, and then
  72. 2:39becoming a victim themselves. It is
  73. 2:41also said in the first part that
  74. 2:43Beatrice might be Kinzo's illegitimate
  75. 2:45child. Apparently, Kanon and his sister
  76. 2:47are Kinzo's illegitimate children, and
  77. 2:49they are eliminating their relatives.
  78. 2:52While writing the script for this video
  79. 2:53, I googled information about the canon
  80. 2:55, and everything fell into place. Kanon
  81. 2:57, Shannon, and Beatrice are
  82. 2:59personalities of the same person. There
  83. 3:01is one more personality that I haven't
  84. 3:03seen in the manga yet, but I will get
  85. 3:05to it. Just as I thought, the murders
  86. 3:06are committed by ordinary people. There
  87. 3:08is no magic in the verse. I certainly
  88. 3:10suspected that the characters weren't
  89. 3:12anything serious, but for the witches
  90. 3:14themselves to be mere fantasies of a
  91. 3:16mentally ill girl—that is just too
  92. 3:18much. I managed to read a little bit of
  93. 3:20the third part. There, Beatrice started
  94. 3:23saying that for a witch of infinity,
  95. 3:24the concepts of life and death do not
  96. 3:26exist. Naturally, they don't. She is
  97. 3:29just an alternate personality in the
  98. 3:30girl's head. Even the manga itself
  99. 3:33gives a heavy hint that everything
  100. 3:34happening on the island is just a
  101. 3:35fabrication. That is, the events we see
  102. 3:38and the witches are purely Sayo's
  103. 3:40fantasies. We have already been shown
  104. 3:43two other witches who interact with
  105. 3:45Beatrice. They are Lambdadelta and
  106. 3:47Bernkastel. I will finish reading the
  107. 3:49story in the manga, and then I'll
  108. 3:50probably play the visual novel, which I
  109. 3:52have already downloaded. Something
  110. 3:53tells me that all these witches are
  111. 3:55simply alternate personalities inside
  112. 3:57people's heads. If that is true, then
  113. 3:59naturally, there are no power levels in
  114. 4:01the verse, and the verse itself is
  115. 4:03infinitely overrated and not even worth
  116. 4:04considering in terms of power scaling.
  117. 4:07The most interesting thing is that the
  118. 4:09title explicitly states through
  119. 4:10Battler's words that there is no magic
  120. 4:12and that every action can be explained
  121. 4:13without using magic if one finds the
  122. 4:15right perspective. Battler would have
  123. 4:17found a normal explanation for all this
  124. 4:19, but because he does not want to
  125. 4:21believe that one of the house's
  126. 4:22residents is a killer, he remains
  127. 4:24confused and even gives in to Beatrice,
  128. 4:26only to pull himself together later and
  129. 4:28continue the fight. So, the work itself
  130. 4:30, through the struggle between Battler
  131. 4:32and Beatrice, shows the battle between
  132. 4:34fantasy and reality. The manga drops
  133. 4:36heavy hints that the majority of the
  134. 4:38events on the island and in the story
  135. 4:40as a whole are pure fiction, having
  136. 4:42nothing to do with reality. I don't
  137. 4:45know why no one else notices this. Or
  138. 4:47maybe they just don't want to notice.
  139. 4:49The story itself isn't the worst,
  140. 4:51actually. Although I am not a big fan
  141. 4:53of detective stories, I will definitely
  142. 4:55finish the manga and make another video
  143. 4:57about this title. I am noticing a trend
  144. 5:00where supposedly strong universes
  145. 5:02become weak or even fall apart into
  146. 5:03pieces when you actually get to know
  147. 5:05them. With that, this video has come to
  148. 5:07an end. Like the video and subscribe to
  149. 5:09the channel.
