- 0:00Have you ever found yourself lying awake
- 0:02at night worrying about something you
- 0:04can't control?
- 0:05Maybe it's your finances. Maybe it's
- 0:07your health. Maybe it's your family.
- 0:10Or maybe it's the uncertainty of the
- 0:12future.
- 0:13Worry has become so common that many
- 0:16people see it as a normal part of life.
- 0:19In fact, some people believe worrying
- 0:21simply means they care.
- 0:23But what if worry is stealing more from
- 0:25you than you realize?
- 0:27What if Jesus had something important to
- 0:29say about the anxiety, fear, and stress
- 0:33that so many people carry every day?
- 0:36The truth is that Jesus spoke about
- 0:38worry more than many Christians
- 0:39remember.
- 0:40And his words are just as powerful today
- 0:43as they were 2,000 years ago.
- 0:46Because while the world tells us to
- 0:47expect anxiety, Jesus offers a different
- 0:50way to live.
- 0:51A life marked by peace, trust, and
- 0:54confidence in God.
- 0:56Today we're going to explore five
- 0:58powerful things Jesus said about worry
- 1:01that most people forget.
- 1:03And by the end of this video, you may
- 1:05find yourself looking at your problems
- 1:07very differently.
- 1:09Let's begin.
- 1:10One. Do not worry about tomorrow.
- 1:14One of the most famous things Jesus ever
- 1:16said about worry is found in Matthew
- 1:186:34.
- 1:19He said, "Therefore, do not worry about
- 1:22tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about
- 1:24itself."
- 1:26At first, that sounds simple.
- 1:28But it's actually one of the most
- 1:29challenging teachings Jesus ever gave.
- 1:33Why? Because most people spend a large
- 1:35part of their lives worrying about
- 1:37things that haven't happened yet.
- 1:39We worry about next week, next month,
- 1:42next year. We imagine worst-case
- 1:45scenarios.
- 1:46We create problems in our minds that may
- 1:48never become reality.
- 1:50Jesus understood something that we often
- 1:52forget. Tomorrow is not under our
- 1:55control.
- 1:57But it is under God's control.
- 1:59When we constantly focus on tomorrow, we
- 2:02often miss the blessings God has placed
- 2:04in front of us today.
- 2:06Worry pulls us out of the present
- 2:08moment. It steals our peace. It steals
- 2:11our gratitude. And it steals our ability
- 2:14to trust God.
- 2:15Jesus wasn't saying we shouldn't plan.
- 2:18He wasn't saying we shouldn't be
- 2:19responsible.
- 2:21He was saying we shouldn't carry
- 2:22tomorrow's burdens before tomorrow
- 2:24arrives.
- 2:25God gives grace for today.
- 2:27And when tomorrow comes, he will give
- 2:30grace for that day, too.
- 2:32Two.
- 2:33Your heavenly Father knows what you
- 2:35need.
- 2:36One reason people worry is because
- 2:38they're afraid their needs won't be met.
- 2:41Will I have enough money? Will things
- 2:43work out? Will God provide?
- 2:46Jesus addressed these fears directly.
- 2:48In Matthew 6:32, he said, "Your heavenly
- 2:52Father knows that you need them."
- 2:54Think about that for a moment. Before
- 2:57you ever prayed about your need, God
- 2:59already knew.
- 3:00Before the problem appeared, God already
- 3:03knew.
- 3:04>> [snorts]
- 3:04>> Before the fear entered your mind, God
- 3:06already knew.
- 3:08This truth changes everything because
- 3:11worry often begins with the assumption
- 3:13that we're facing life alone.
- 3:15But Jesus reminds us that we have a
- 3:17father,
- 3:18a loving father, a father who sees, a
- 3:22father who knows, a father who cares.
- 3:25The same God who knows the number of
- 3:27hairs on your head knows exactly what
- 3:29you're facing today.
- 3:31And if he knows your needs, you can
- 3:33trust him with your future.
- 3:35You may not know how he will provide.
- 3:38You may not know when he will provide.
- 3:40But you can trust that he sees what you
- 3:42need.
- 3:43Three.
- 3:44Look at the birds of the air.
- 3:47Jesus often used simple examples to
- 3:49teach profound truths.
- 3:51One day he pointed to the birds.
- 3:54In Matthew 6:26 he said, "Look at the
- 3:57birds of the air. They do not sow or
- 3:59reap or store away in barns, and yet
- 4:02your heavenly father feeds them."
- 4:05Imagine the disciples hearing that.
- 4:07Jesus was essentially saying, "Look
- 4:10around you. Creation itself is evidence
- 4:13of God's care.
- 4:14Birds don't spend their days worrying
- 4:16about tomorrow, yet God provides for
- 4:18them.
- 4:19Flowers don't worry about how they'll be
- 4:21clothed, yet God dresses them
- 4:23beautifully."
- 4:25Then Jesus asked a powerful question.
- 4:28"Are you not much more valuable than
- 4:29they?"
- 4:31Think about that. If God cares for
- 4:33birds, if God cares for flowers, how
- 4:36much more does he care for you?
- 4:39You were created in his image. You are
- 4:41loved by him. You are valuable to him.
- 4:45Worry often makes us forget our worth in
- 4:47God's eyes.
- 4:49But Jesus reminds us that the God who
- 4:51sustains creation is fully capable of
- 4:54sustaining us.
- 4:56Four,
- 4:57can worry add a single hour to your
- 4:59life?
- 5:00Jesus asked one of the most practical
- 5:02questions in scripture.
- 5:04In Matthew 6:27 he said, "Can anyone of
- 5:08you by worrying add a single hour to
- 5:10your life?"
- 5:12The answer, of course, is no.
- 5:14Worry feels productive,
- 5:16but it isn't. It consumes energy without
- 5:19solving problems. It creates exhaustion
- 5:22without creating solutions. It steals
- 5:25sleep. It steals joy. It steals peace.
- 5:29But it doesn't change the future.
- 5:31Think about how many hours people spend
- 5:33worrying every year.
- 5:35Now imagine if that same time was spent
- 5:38praying,
- 5:39>> [clears throat]
- 5:39>> trusting God, growing spiritually,
- 5:42helping others. The reality is that
- 5:44worry It control, but delivers
- 5:47frustration.
- 5:48Faith, on the other hand, places control
- 5:51where it belongs, in God's hands.
- 5:54Jesus wasn't being harsh. He was helping
- 5:56us recognize the futility of worry.
- 5:59Because once we understand that worry
- 6:01cannot solve our problems, we're free to
- 6:04place those problems in God's care.
- 6:06Five, seek first the kingdom of God.
- 6:10Perhaps the most important thing Jesus
- 6:12said about worry comes just a few verses
- 6:15later.
- 6:16In Matthew 6:33, he said,
- 6:18"But seek first his kingdom and his
- 6:20righteousness, and all these things will
- 6:23be given to you as well."
- 6:25Notice what Jesus does. He doesn't
- 6:27simply tell us what not to do. He tells
- 6:30us what to do instead.
- 6:32Instead of focusing on worry, focus on
- 6:35God.
- 6:36Instead of obsessing over problems,
- 6:38pursue God's kingdom.
- 6:40Instead of living in fear, live in
- 6:42faith.
- 6:43Many people spend their lives chasing
- 6:45security, but Jesus says true security
- 6:48is found in putting God first.
- 6:51When God becomes our highest priority,
- 6:53our perspective begins to change.
- 6:55We stop viewing life through the lens of
- 6:57fear.
- 6:58We begin viewing it through the lens of
- 7:00faith.
- 7:01And as we do, we discover something
- 7:03remarkable.
- 7:04The closer we grow to God, the less
- 7:06power worry has over us. Because trust
- 7:09and worry cannot rule the heart at the
- 7:11same time.
- 7:12One will always replace the other.
- 7:15And Jesus invites us to choose trust.
- 7:18Conclusion.
- 7:20If there's one thing Jesus wanted his
- 7:22followers to understand about worry,
- 7:24it's this.
- 7:25You do not have to carry life's burdens
- 7:27alone.
- 7:28Remember what he said. Do not worry
- 7:31about tomorrow. Your heavenly Father
- 7:33knows what you need. Look at the birds
- 7:35of the air. Can worry add a single hour
- 7:38to your life?
- 7:39Seek first the kingdom of God.
- 7:42These aren't just comforting words,
- 7:44they're invitations.
- 7:46Invitations to trust God more deeply, to
- 7:49surrender fear more completely, and to
- 7:51experience the peace that comes from
- 7:53knowing God is in control.
- 7:56So, if you've been carrying a burden
- 7:57lately, take a moment today and give it
- 7:59to God.
- 8:01Pray about it. Trust him with it. And
- 8:03remember, the same God who has carried
- 8:06you through every challenge in your past
- 8:08is more than capable of carrying you
- 8:10through whatever comes next.
