- 0:01Namaskar. The topic of today's class is
- 0:05the Anahata chakra. The Anahata chakra
- 0:09is the center, the center of our being.
- 0:12Seven chakras, you remember, right? One
- 0:14is located at the tailbone, the
- 0:16Muladhara chakra, then the Swadhisthana
- 0:19chakra, the genitals, and the Manipura,
- 0:21the navel chakra. The Anahata chakra is
- 0:24right here; if you draw a line across
- 0:26the nipples and a line down, it's at
- 0:28the intersection of those two lines.
- 0:30Then the Vishuddha chakra is here at
- 0:32the throat. Next is the Ajna chakra
- 0:36here, and the Sahasrara chakra here.
- 0:39Those are the seven chakras. The upper
- 0:42chakras represent our divine nature.
- 0:45Here, you are no longer just human.
- 0:46Here, you are a deity. An embodied
- 0:49deity. Everything below represents our
- 0:52animal nature. And in the middle is the
- 0:55Anahata chakra, the connecting link
- 0:56between animality and divinity. This is
- 0:59the human. And here in the Anahata
- 1:02chakra, you can move toward animality;
- 1:05a person can choose that direction. A
- 1:08person stands on the shore, one foot in
- 1:11the water, the other foot on land. If
- 1:14they remain standing in that position,
- 1:16the water will wash them away. That is,
- 1:20animality will seize them, and in that
- 1:22turbulent current, they will lose
- 1:24themselves. But they can take a step
- 1:27onto the land. By pushing off with the
- 1:30foot that was standing, they can step
- 1:33onto the land and enter this promised
- 1:36land. It is the exact same for us. We
- 1:39have an animal nature in the lower
- 1:41centers and we have a divine nature. In
- 1:44between them lies the Anahata chakra.
- 1:46Your first steps into your, uh, into
- 1:50your divinity, your first foundation,
- 1:56is located in the Anahata chakra. Once
- 2:00you have firmly established yourself,
- 2:02directing energy into the Anahata
- 2:04chakra, truly settled there, you are
- 2:06only five minutes away from divinity,
- 2:09from radiance, from greatness. This is
- 2:11the center of the most important
- 2:14emotions for us. If we gain control
- 2:17over this center, we become truly great
- 2:20people. Anahata chakra, translated from
- 2:23Sanskrit, means "unstruck sound." Here,
- 2:26when the mind reaches this center in
- 2:29Samadhi, in a trance, we can hear a
- 2:32special sound. It is the sound of a
- 2:34flute. That is it. It is actually a
- 2:36manifestation of the sound Om, the
- 2:38eternal sound that arose at the
- 2:40beginning of the universe. And this
- 2:42sound manifests in the Anahata chakra
- 2:44as the sound of a flute. That is why it
- 2:48has such a name, the "unstruck sound."
- 2:50So, you can hear a flutist there in the
- 2:53Anahata chakra. Now, the Anahata chakra
- 2:56controls the air element. The air
- 2:59element is very mobile, very unstable.
- 3:01The same applies to the Anahata chakra.
- 3:03It is very mobile, very unstable, very
- 3:05restless, like the wind. And that means
- 3:10it requires great effort to stabilize
- 3:13it. Now, the Anahata chakra contains
- 3:17twelve emotions within it. The lotus
- 3:20cup and 12 petals around it. And now I
- 3:24will explain these petals. So, let's
- 3:27start analyzing the properties of the
- 3:29mind in the Anahata chakra. One of the
- 3:32most significant, useful, and important
- 3:35properties, without which we cannot
- 3:37conceive of ourselves in the Anahata
- 3:40chakra, is the property of effort. In
- 3:42Sanskrit, it is often called. What is
- 3:44effort? Effort is this very act of
- 3:46willful intention. That is, in order to
- 3:49achieve success in anything in life, we
- 3:52need to manifest this intention. Note
- 3:55that we manifest this intention not
- 3:57with the head, not with the mind, not
- 3:59with the intellect, but precisely with
- 4:02the heart. We manifest this intention.
- 4:04I mean, you can be 100%sure, you can
- 4:07have understanding, like I understand
- 4:11everything, but I just can't. Right?
- 4:14That is, if the energy in the Anahata
- 4:16chakra has run out, I understand
- 4:18everything, I know everything, I am
- 4:20aware of everything, but I cannot find
- 4:23the strength inside myself to do what
- 4:25needs to be done. This happens to many
- 4:28people when they start meditating and
- 4:30attending lectures; their consciousness
- 4:33expands, energy accumulates, and that's
- 4:36it. A person is absolutely sure that
- 4:38they will practice and be a star. A
- 4:42week goes by, and the person has
- 4:44neglected the instructions they were
- 4:46given. So, the energy they received
- 4:49during the lecture, or even if they
- 4:51received a dedication or initiation,
- 4:53they squandered that energy, and then
- 4:56they understand everything, they know
- 4:58it's necessary, but they can't find the
- 5:00strength. What does that mean? It means
- 5:03there is no energy here inside the
- 5:05Anahata chakra. That is, all this
- 5:08energy was wasted at the level of the
- 5:10lower chakras, at the level of
- 5:12attachments, at the level of lusts, at
- 5:14the level of physical desires, anxiety,
- 5:16and so on. Yes. So, this is a very
- 5:19important thing. No task can be
- 5:22completed if there is no energy present
- 5:25in the Anahata chakra. That is, we need
- 5:28to apply intention. Because when you
- 5:31have intention—of course, you can do
- 5:33things under duress, out of fear, and
- 5:36so on. Yes. But in the Anahata chakra,
- 5:39this independent effort—to perform an
- 5:42independent effort, we need energy.
- 5:46Here, for example, look, our action,
- 5:50any action at all, can be divided into
- 5:53several phases. The first phase of an
- 5:56action is, what phase is it, how do we
- 5:59begin? Suppose I am sitting on the
- 6:01couch and want to drink some water.
- 6:02What must happen first? First of all, I
- 6:05must want to. A desire arises. A desire
- 6:08has arisen. Then, the second phase. And
- 6:11in the second phase, I must visualize,
- 6:14I must see what I need to do to get
- 6:16from point A to point B. That is, what
- 6:18is the action plan? Tr. Here it is, the
- 6:22paid action plan. When I saw this, what
- 6:24did I have to carry out? Next comes the
- 6:27next phase, sankalpa. Sankalpa means
- 6:29intention, to manifest an intention.
- 6:32And this intention is formed right here
- 6:35. After that, you get up and do it,
- 6:38right? For example, another option: I
- 6:41want water again, but I’m depressed.
- 6:43Depression means the Anahata chakra is
- 6:46completely devastated, shattered,
- 6:48broken. The enemies burned down my home
- 6:50, there’s nothing left of it. The
- 6:51Anahata chakra. There. And in this
- 6:54state, I sit there and want water. I
- 6:56think, oh, I should have a drink of
- 6:58water. Then the next desire. There is a
- 7:00next phase. The next phase. I saw what
- 7:04needs to be done for this. Oh, that
- 7:05means I have to go to the kitchen and
- 7:07pour it. And the third phase doesn't
- 7:09work. The intention is not formed. I
- 7:11think, I’ll manage without water. Yes
- 7:13. This is a telling situation of what
- 7:17happens when our Anahata chakra isn't
- 7:21working. Meaning, the willpower
- 7:24disappears. You surely have people you
- 7:26can rely on. Meaning, you know if this
- 7:30person said it, if they promised, then
- 7:32100%even if an earthquake happens, any
- 7:34force majeure, this person will
- 7:36overcome anything possible, but they
- 7:38will fulfill their promise. What does
- 7:41this indicate? It indicates that they
- 7:44have a developed and strong Anahata
- 7:46chakra. And that means the person is
- 7:48capable of loving, capable of caring,
- 7:50and so on. Therefore, this is a very
- 7:53big sign. And if a person doesn't know
- 7:56how to keep their promises, doesn't
- 7:59fulfill their promises, or even worse,
- 8:01doesn't make promises at all, meaning
- 8:03they fear any responsibility, it means
- 8:06there are problems here in the Anahata
- 8:08chakra. Meaning, we are dealing with a
- 8:11mentally and psychologically weak
- 8:13person. A mentally and psychologically
- 8:16strong person has no problem making a
- 8:19promise and has no problem fulfilling
- 8:21that promise, because the Anahata
- 8:23chakra is strong. This is honest. Also
- 8:27here, the next emotion we have is
- 8:32called viveka. Viveka means the quality
- 8:37of distinguishing right from wrong, the
- 8:39ability to distinguish right from wrong
- 8:42, the temporary from the eternal, the
- 8:44appropriate from the inappropriate. How
- 8:48else do we call this ability? We call
- 8:51it conscience. And this is that very
- 8:54inner voice, the voice of the heart,
- 8:57which we are supposed to listen to.
- 9:01You've heard the phrase many times,
- 9:03right: "Listen to the voice of your
- 9:05heart, the heart won't deceive you."
- 9:08And indeed, it is 100%true, because
- 9:11here this viveka, this quality of the
- 9:13mind, is very, very subtle. And here in
- 9:16the Anahata chakra, another layer of
- 9:18the mind is controlled. It is called
- 9:20Vijnanamaya Kosha. This Vijnanamaya
- 9:23Kosha right here, it is a high layer,
- 9:27meaning it's not the conscious mind,
- 9:28not the subconscious, it is an
- 9:30unconscious layer. And not even the
- 9:32first layer of the unconscious, but the
- 9:34second. So, there are three layers of
- 9:36the unconscious mind in total. Atimanas
- 9:38, Vijnanamaya, Hiranamaya. This is the
- 9:40second one. So, located there, in this
- 9:43layer, is perfect wisdom. And this
- 9:45perfect wisdom speaks to us through the
- 9:48heart. Things that your intellect
- 9:50cannot even imagine. Your heart's voice
- 9:53right here, it knows. So, deep inside,
- 9:55you feel what the right thing is. The
- 9:58first idea comes; it emerged from the
- 10:01unconscious. And your intellect says, "
- 10:03Oh, come on, drop it, that is
- 10:05absolutely unrealistic." After some
- 10:08time, you realize it was the most
- 10:09correct decision, the most adequate
- 10:11thing that could have been done. There.
- 10:15And this Viveka, if we have learned to
- 10:18listen to it, we will definitely be
- 10:21successful in life, because this higher
- 10:24consciousness, this higher entity,
- 10:26which is pure love and benevolence,
- 10:29guides us on the path of our highest
- 10:32good. And if you listen, you receive
- 10:35this highest good. There. If not, well,
- 10:39you simply receive your samskaras, your
- 10:41karma. That's how it is. If you listen
- 10:45to various stories of successful art,
- 10:48successful business, successful science
- 10:51, people talk about the same thing. In
- 10:56reality, they say, "Don't listen to
- 10:58anyone, listen to yourself, listen to
- 11:00the voice of your heart, what your
- 11:02heart prompts you, and do that." So,
- 11:05there are two problems here. Firstly,
- 11:06the problem is to hear it, and the
- 11:09second problem is to find the courage
- 11:11within yourself. To act according to
- 11:14the command of this heart. There. Well,
- 11:17and one problem is solved by calming
- 11:19the mind, that is, when the intellect
- 11:21settles down. They say there is a war
- 11:24between the mind and the heart. The
- 11:26heart wants one thing, the mind says
- 11:28another. And in this case, there could
- 11:32be, look, it could be a war between the
- 11:36mind and instinct, right? Or, let's say
- 11:43, a war between the Manipura chakra and
- 11:45the Swadhisthana chakra. The
- 11:46Swadhisthana chakra says, "Oh, I want
- 11:49this pleasure." Yes, an emotion. We
- 11:51experience an emotion like that, some
- 11:53attraction, or aversion, or something
- 11:55else. And we can mistake this emotion
- 11:57for what seems like our heart, as if
- 11:59these were our true feelings. But it is
- 12:01the opposite; it is actually much, much
- 12:04lower. And the Manipura is afraid, it
- 12:05says: "What are you doing? If you do
- 12:07this, then this, this, and this will be
- 12:09the consequences.""Don't even think
- 12:11about doing it." And so we say: "Why is
- 12:13it that my heart wants this, but my
- 12:15mind wants that?" And the mind here
- 12:18acts—the Manipura chakra acts in the
- 12:20form of a mind that is afraid and says:
- 12:21"No, you shouldn't do that." And it's
- 12:24right to do so, because you shouldn't
- 12:26be led by your instinctual nature. See.
- 12:28But could there be another conflict?
- 12:30Maybe deep down here in the Anahata
- 12:32chakra you hear it, intuitively you
- 12:34know: this is right, it's righteous,
- 12:36it's truly a good action, a powerful,
- 12:38excellent action. But it is afraid
- 12:42again. It says: "What are you doing? If
- 12:45you do it this way, there will be such
- 12:46and such consequences, you will have
- 12:48losses, you will have to sacrifice a
- 12:49lot.""Blah-blah-blah-blah-blah." See.
- 12:52And in one case, this Manipura chakra
- 12:54performs a positive function,
- 12:55controlling your instinctual nature,
- 12:58while in another, it performs a
- 12:59negative function. It holds you back
- 13:02from your great destiny. See. Well, and
- 13:05in order to learn to hear the voice of
- 13:07your heart, what must you do? You need
- 13:09your instincts to fall silent; when you
- 13:12have no cravings, no attachments, no
- 13:15deep-seated fear there. You have a
- 13:18chance to clearly feel your destiny.
- 13:23And your Manipura chakra, its fears,
- 13:25all of them must also fall silent. This
- 13:27usually happens in moments of
- 13:29meditation. In moments of meditation or
- 13:32some other elevation of the mind, for
- 13:34example. Well, for me, this mainly
- 13:36happens in meditation, that is, when I
- 13:38sit, meditate, and I have achieved a
- 13:41profound calming of the mind. It’s
- 13:43like receiving a text message. Ta-tan.
- 13:46That is, and suddenly I realize very
- 13:48clearly: this is it, this is my destiny
- 13:51, this is what I need to do. Along with
- 13:54that, in the package with this, the
- 13:56data was transmitted, yes, from that
- 13:57cosmic internet. Together with this
- 13:59data, together with this information,
- 14:01comes inspiration, that is, the
- 14:03strength to implement it. And it also
- 14:05happens when I sing a mantra, do kirtan
- 14:08, do lalit marmik, I sing and suddenly,
- 14:10"ting," and suddenly awareness comes,
- 14:13and inspiration, and clarity. So, when
- 14:17the mind is elevated, when you rise
- 14:19higher than the Manipura chakra, and
- 14:21all your fears, all your anxiety has
- 14:24gone quiet, you have reached this pure
- 14:26Anahata chakra, or you have risen
- 14:28higher, to where the Vishuddha chakra
- 14:31is. That’s it, in this moment you
- 14:34will hear the voice of your heart.
- 14:37Likewise, if we defile our heart, then
- 14:40this voice becomes weaker and weaker,
- 14:42and it will be harder to follow it. To
- 14:46defile the heart means, um, when you do
- 14:48something that goes against the rules.
- 14:51That is, if you perform actions that
- 14:54are against the laws of the Universe,
- 14:57which are prescribed for a person,
- 15:00against dharma, against the laws of
- 15:03spiritual harmony, you definitely
- 15:06experience heaviness here in your heart
- 15:10. Another influence turns on, called
- 15:12the feeling of guilt, anutapa, the
- 15:14quality of repentance. Why did I do
- 15:16that? Why did I say that? And when you
- 15:20have said it, when you have done
- 15:22something, right, say, you lied to
- 15:24someone or you offended someone, a
- 15:27heaviness sets in here, and you
- 15:29immediately feel how you have clipped
- 15:31your own wings. That is, there is no
- 15:34longer that confidence, that strength,
- 15:36that limitlessness that you have when
- 15:38you are pure, when you have a pure
- 15:39heart. That is why, in order for the
- 15:43anahata chakra to remain powerful, it
- 15:45is necessary to be a very, very honest,
- 15:48very, well, righteous person, so to
- 15:50speak. Every time we commit such an act
- 15:53, we are punishing ourselves in this
- 15:55way. And so, in order to get rid of
- 15:57this guilt complex, what needs to be
- 16:00done to get rid of it? How can it be
- 16:02alleviated? In Christianity, there is
- 16:05such a thing as confession, right?
- 16:07People go and talk to a priest and, in
- 16:10general, open their souls to him and
- 16:13tell him everything and repent. They
- 16:17say, "You know, I did this and that."
- 16:19This is a very, very powerful and
- 16:21effective thing. In yoga, we have a
- 16:23similar thing as well. We have a rule:
- 16:26if a mistake was made unconsciously or
- 16:30out of ignorance, it is necessary to
- 16:33immediately admit it and ask for a
- 16:36punishment. What does punishment mean?
- 16:40Punishment means, well, not in the
- 16:42sense that you should suffer, but you
- 16:45need to—well, usually people come
- 16:48either to their acharya or to a friend
- 16:51they trust very deeply. They know that
- 16:56this friend will not abuse the things
- 16:58that you have revealed to them. Yes.
- 17:01So. And you open up, and you say, "I
- 17:06did this and that." This is tormenting
- 17:11me, this is eating away at me. Help me,
- 17:13tell me what to do, how I can correct
- 17:17myself. So. And if the person possesses
- 17:20spiritual wisdom, or even if they just
- 17:22listen, you will release this burden.
- 17:25Because if you keep these, um, dark
- 17:27pollutions inside yourself, inside your
- 17:30heart, it will—it will eat away at
- 17:33you from the inside. When you have
- 17:36opened up, your heart is already
- 17:38halfway purified. So. And when a friend
- 17:41possesses some kind of spiritual wisdom
- 17:43, they will tell you exactly what you
- 17:45need to do in order to cleanse yourself
- 17:48. Well, there are very few such people,
- 17:50of course. But if you found the right
- 17:53person, they will tell you, for example
- 17:55: "Come on, as a punishment for this,
- 17:58as atonement for this, do a dry fast,
- 18:00observe a fast and perform this or that
- 18:03austerity.""Go, for instance, buy food
- 18:06and distribute it to the homeless, for
- 18:09example," right? And when you perform
- 18:12this austerity, you will feel: "Oh, my
- 18:14heart is being cleansed." Or, say, a
- 18:17friend might tell you: "Come on, do
- 18:20this practice, perform this or that
- 18:23austerity." And what is this for? It's
- 18:26not to cause you any pain, or to punish
- 18:28you, or as some sort of retribution.
- 18:30No. It is to return your mind back to a
- 18:33state of strength. That is, when you
- 18:36have transgressed, you have committed
- 18:38an act that goes against your heart,
- 18:40your mind falls, and you can't recover.
- 18:42It's like your sins won't let you near
- 18:45the altar of the Almighty. You approach
- 18:48, and this spiritual energy burns you.
- 18:50Meaning it is uncomfortable for you.
- 18:52That is how it happens. That is, you
- 18:55will feel, when you have a good,
- 18:57powerful meditation and you have done
- 18:59something wrong, something incorrect,
- 19:02especially at advanced stages—some,
- 19:04well, what you might call a sin, yes,
- 19:06although in Tantra we try not to use
- 19:08the word "sin" because it has a
- 19:10negative connotation. Well, you
- 19:12committed a transgression, you made a
- 19:14mistake. We also learn from mistakes.
- 19:16Right. And inside, instantly, this
- 19:18Viveka, this conscience of ours, and
- 19:21tapa, repentance, reacts and we feel
- 19:23pain, and we immediately become weak.
- 19:26And so, when you approach the higher in
- 19:29meditation again, yes, when you have
- 19:32drawn close to it, the same energy is
- 19:34radiated, but this energy no longer
- 19:37brings you joy, it burns you, it
- 19:39creates discomfort for you. You feel
- 19:42tension within your, uh, nervous system
- 19:46and so on, and it becomes uncomfortable
- 19:49for you to meditate. That is why many
- 19:52people cannot meditate, because too
- 19:54many sins have been accumulated, you
- 19:55have committed too many transgressions.
- 19:59And when you approach, yes, in
- 20:00meditation toward the divine, it all
- 20:02comes out of you. And then begins this
- 20:06process of painful repentance, of some
- 20:08kind of painful, uh, purification, yes.
- 20:12That is why it is important that we are
- 20:14never burdened by anything. The past is
- 20:16the past. Let it remain in the past.
- 20:18God gave us eyes in front so that we
- 20:20look forward, and never back. But when
- 20:23you, while practicing, have done
- 20:25something that is completely
- 20:27unacceptable to you personally, that is
- 20:30, your conscience says it is wrong. You
- 20:33need to cleanse your soul by telling it
- 20:37, repenting, and taking on some form of
- 20:42penance to fix it. This is the recipe
- 20:45that yoga prescribes. So, what did we
- 20:49have there? Anutapa. Anutapa. Next is
- 20:53the property of reflection. Reflection.
- 20:58Reflection means that, on one hand, it
- 21:02can be a positive trait, meaning it's
- 21:05imagination, creating a certain vision,
- 21:09and dreaming. Great things are
- 21:13generally born from dreams. Yes, that
- 21:17is, things that used to be the fruit of
- 21:19science fiction suddenly start becoming
- 21:22reality, right? So, imagination is the
- 21:25creation of a vision of the future, a
- 21:27look into the future. On the other hand
- 21:30, very often these fantasies have no
- 21:33fruit. They are fruitless fantasies.
- 21:36And they are often very base. That is,
- 21:38if they are based on the lower chakras,
- 21:40when a person fantasizes about
- 21:41something, about something that is
- 21:43absolutely, "Oh, I will build myself
- 21:45such a house, and I will live there
- 21:47like this, and travel there." And these
- 21:50fantasies have no substance; it is
- 21:52simply a pure waste of psychic power,
- 21:54of psychic energy. In this case, this
- 21:57state becomes negative. Often, a person
- 22:00is so possessed by this process of
- 22:03reflection that they cannot even fall
- 22:06asleep. For example, you were offered a
- 22:08new job. "Oh, a new job, what will I do
- 22:11there?" By night, you are already a
- 22:14small boss at this job. You are doing
- 22:16this, this, and this. By 3 a.m., you
- 22:18are already the ruler of all Russia and
- 22:21are making plans to conquer the
- 22:23universe. But no matter how hard you
- 22:25try to fall asleep, you cannot. You say
- 22:27, "Oh, that's it, sleep, sleep, sleep,
- 22:30tomorrow is the interview, I need to
- 22:32look good." Mmm. And when I have this,
- 22:35I will do this, and this, and this.
- 22:37Does that sound familiar? Yes, it
- 22:38happens to me sometimes too. This is
- 22:41the excitement in the Anahata chakra;
- 22:42the element of air inside the body has
- 22:44been stirred up. That is exactly how we
- 22:47feel, thinking, thinking, thinking in
- 22:48meditation as well. Sometimes it
- 22:52happens that there is some imbalance in
- 22:54the body, the air element is agitated,
- 22:56and the anahata chakra also falls out
- 22:58of balance, and you just can't stop
- 22:59thinking. Meditation also requires
- 23:01practice. And you think, and think, and
- 23:04think, and think, and think, and think
- 23:07—that is what is called chitta vritti
- 23:09. And it eventually transforms into
- 23:13anxiety. Anxiety. Will it work, won't
- 23:17it work, will it work, won't it work,
- 23:20will it pay off, won't it pay off, is
- 23:22it profitable, not profitable—yes,
- 23:24this is called anxiety. And this
- 23:26anxiety is very closely linked to the
- 23:28vritti of hope. Hope is also located
- 23:31here in the anahata chakra. And its
- 23:33positive quality is that, well, as long
- 23:35as there is hope, your heart is alive.
- 23:38That is, hope nourishes our heart. If
- 23:41there is hope, there is the strength to
- 23:44move forward. If there is no hope,
- 23:46that's it. Well, there's no hope, the
- 23:48project is closed, that's it, you stop.
- 23:50You've lost hope. Maybe there were even
- 23:53all the chances for success, but you
- 23:54lost hope. Your capacity for effort
- 23:56also left you. Right. But hope is a
- 24:00quality that can also be negative,
- 24:04because hope very easily flips into
- 24:07anxiety. We hope, we worry. We hope, we
- 24:12worry. So anxiety is a kind of fear, a
- 24:15mild fear that exists at the heart
- 24:17level. We have three types of fear
- 24:19according to these chakras. The first,
- 24:21the heaviest fear in the svadhishthana
- 24:23chakra, is insane terror, the terror of
- 24:25death. Manipura chakra. And this fear
- 24:28is paralyzing. Manipura chakra. Fear
- 24:31that is activating, that stirs you into
- 24:33action. Fight or flight. Anahata chakra
- 24:36. Anxiety. Will it work, won't it work.
- 24:39Will it work, won't it work—frenzy.
- 24:42So, we need to transform the quality of
- 24:46hope. There is a verse that describes
- 24:49the qualities of a saintly person. When
- 24:53I read it, I wondered, why is it like
- 24:56that? Because I always considered hope
- 24:58to be an exclusively positive quality,
- 25:00an absolutely positive quality. There
- 25:02is nothing more positive. And then I
- 25:05came across this verse. This is a very
- 25:08important tantric verse. It describes
- 25:11the quality of a saintly person. Asha
- 25:14pasha vinirmukta, adimadyanta nirmalam,
- 25:17anandena vartate nityam,
- 25:19akara-tase-lakshanam. This means "asha
- 25:23pasha vinirmukta"—one who has forever
- 25:26left the shackles of hope. "Adimadyanta
- 25:30nirmalam"—pure in the beginning, in
- 25:32the middle, and in the end. "Anandena
- 25:35vartate nityam"—eternally abiding in
- 25:39bliss. This is a person who has
- 25:42realized one component of holiness. So,
- 25:47"asha pasha vinirmukta," one who has
- 25:50left the shackles of hope. I think,
- 25:52somehow, the shackles of hope are
- 25:54actually just like that. So, someone
- 25:57who lives in the present moment, who
- 25:59listens only to their conscience, they
- 26:01don’t look to the future; they listen
- 26:03to their conscience and know that this
- 26:05action is right and righteous. And they
- 26:08don’t hope for whether this action
- 26:11will bring pleasant fruits or if it
- 26:13will bring them suffering. That is, in
- 26:18one fell swoop, they have renounced
- 26:22both anxiety and hope. And then that
- 26:26hope you had, which could be both
- 26:29positive and negative, transforms into
- 26:32a purely positive and absolutely
- 26:34positive quality called faith. Faith.
- 26:38And faith is a super powerful spiritual
- 26:40quality. Faith can move mountains. If
- 26:44you have faith in your heart, nothing
- 26:47can stop you. There. Well, I hope that
- 26:50is clear. Another quality of the
- 26:52Anahata chakra is vanity. We all
- 26:55absolutely have this; it’s an
- 26:57obsession with oneself, self-admiration
- 27:00, some kind of self-aggrandizement.
- 27:04Well, there is a positive side to it
- 27:06too. That is, a person strives to be
- 27:09better. There. And, well, the negative
- 27:11side is that a person is focused on
- 27:13themselves. There. And they just can't
- 27:16manage to make this transpersonal exit
- 27:19beyond their own persona, because we
- 27:21want infinity. And you won't experience
- 27:24infinity within your one little body
- 27:27and small mind. You need to go beyond
- 27:29those limits. That is, when you
- 27:32disconnect from your personality and
- 27:35turn your gaze toward infinity, when
- 27:37you shift from serving your own persona
- 27:40to serving all of humanity, the whole
- 27:42universe, that is when you experience
- 27:44this expansion, this transpersonal exit
- 27:47. And vanity, of course, stops you on
- 27:50this path in the spiritual sphere. That
- 27:53is, it blocks you; you are always
- 27:55thinking about yourself, taking selfies
- 27:57, looking in the mirror. And if you see
- 28:01a group photo, whose face do you look
- 28:03for first? Yes, everyone looks for
- 28:05their own face. Our persona possesses a
- 28:08certain magnetism that captivates us.
- 28:11And for us, that is an obstacle. A more
- 28:15extreme expression is another vritti.
- 28:17That is, vanity itself is, well, a
- 28:20somewhat innocent vritti. That is, it's
- 28:23a mistake, but it doesn't cause any
- 28:25real harm. Except for the fact that it
- 28:28focuses you on your own personality.
- 28:31There. But there is a more harmful
- 28:35vritti: arrogance. Arrogance is already
- 28:39a type of superiority complex. That is,
- 28:42you start looking down on others, and
- 28:46you get this feeling that you deserve
- 28:49more. You deserve more. And from it
- 28:55also arise several other vrittis. From
- 28:58it arise vrittis of greed, for example,
- 29:01labha. Labha means, for example, you
- 29:03sit at the table and take all the best
- 29:06things for yourself. Why? Because you
- 29:09have a feeling that you deserve more,
- 29:11right? You are a VIP, a very important
- 29:15person. There. And this kind of
- 29:18behavior, we usually don't like it.
- 29:20Arrogant people cause us to feel
- 29:22rejection. That is, we consider it
- 29:24unfair, it is wrong. There. But when a
- 29:27person has such a complex, they are as
- 29:29if blinded, and this blindness prevents
- 29:32them from seeing the inadequacy of
- 29:34their behavior. There is a verse in
- 29:36Sanskrit that describes these different
- 29:38types of pride. Abhimanam surapanam,
- 29:42gauravam rauravam dhruvam, pratistha
- 29:47sukara-vistha, trayan tyaktva harim
- 29:51bhajet. A very harsh verse, actually.
- 29:54It says abhimanam surapanam. A bloated
- 30:01ego is like drinking wine. That is,
- 30:05when you are influenced by vanity and
- 30:07arrogance, you become like a drunkard.
- 30:09You don't understand anything. Meaning,
- 30:11you have no adequacy at all. Often in
- 30:14the past, a motif in various historical
- 30:17detective stories and dramas is that
- 30:20flatterers with the poison of their
- 30:22flattery intoxicate the mind of a king
- 30:25or some influential person. And they,
- 30:29falling into such an inadequate state,
- 30:31do completely inadequate things. So, it
- 30:34is like drinking wine. You behave like
- 30:37a drunken person. Meaning, completely
- 30:40inadequately. Gauravam rauravam dhruvam
- 30:44, and self-aggrandizement leads you to
- 30:48the deepest hell. That is, your state
- 30:52when you inflate yourself, aggrandize
- 30:54yourself as a personality; for instance
- 30:57, you have a small rose growing in your
- 30:59garden, but you boast to everyone,
- 31:01saying, "I have such roses." growing.
- 31:04This is self-aggrandizement, pain. And,
- 31:07accordingly, you expect such treatment
- 31:09toward yourself; that is, you have
- 31:11puffed yourself up, like a toad
- 31:13inflates, it becomes so big, so big.
- 31:16There. But inside there is nothing,
- 31:17inside there is emptiness. And so you
- 31:19have inflated, and you expect a
- 31:21specific attitude toward yourself. That
- 31:23attitude does not come. If people mock
- 31:26you a little, make a joke somewhere,
- 31:29this joke is like a knife right to your
- 31:32heart. That is, it is perceived by you
- 31:36as very, very painful. That is why it
- 31:38is believed that a person who engages
- 31:41in self-aggrandizement is in the
- 31:43deepest hell. And then the harshest
- 31:46statement: pratistha sukara-vistha. The
- 31:50thirst for public acclaim, public
- 31:53prestige, is like the excrement of pigs
- 31:56. Leave these three and chant the
- 32:00glories of God. Right? I mean, I've
- 32:03already said in one of my videos that
- 32:06you can either sing your own praises or
- 32:09the praises of the Almighty. Right. And
- 32:12when you do not sing the praises of the
- 32:15Almighty—that is, your speech, your
- 32:17thoughts, your practice, your singing
- 32:20are not focused on the Almighty—it
- 32:22shifts to the other pole; it focuses on
- 32:25you yourself. That is why you need to
- 32:27redirect it like this. If you are to be
- 32:29proud of anything, you should be proud
- 32:32of the Almighty. Meaning, you should
- 32:35say, yes, all these amazing qualities
- 32:36that arise in people, both in me and in
- 32:39others, they come directly from God.
- 32:42How beautiful He is. Once you have
- 32:45accomplished this redirection, you will
- 32:47protect yourself from the dangers of
- 32:50vanity and arrogance. And from vanity,
- 32:53hypocrisy is also born. That is, a
- 32:56person strives for self-adornment; he
- 32:58wants everyone to admire him, everyone
- 33:00to adore him. And then, for the sake of
- 33:03this, he goes as far as to project an
- 33:06image. He wants to be loved. In reality
- 33:08, it is a need for love, isn't it? So,
- 33:12the desire to be loved both breeds
- 33:15vanity and breeds this hypocrisy. What
- 33:20does hypocrisy mean? It means two
- 33:21personalities living inside you. One
- 33:24personality on display for everyone,
- 33:26and a second personality inside for
- 33:28private use. And you understand, and
- 33:31you cannot acknowledge yourself. You
- 33:34lack the courage, you lack the boldness
- 33:36to acknowledge yourself as you truly
- 33:39are. You deceive yourself and create
- 33:42some false image of yourself; you live
- 33:44in self-deception. I am this, I am that
- 33:47, I am this, I am that. And you present
- 33:50this false image to people as well.
- 33:52That is why I say that you shouldn't
- 33:54try to be a saint before your time. It
- 33:56is fraught with various psychological
- 34:00deformations. That is, the psyche will
- 34:02be traumatized. When you are constantly
- 34:04deceiving, when you manifest this
- 34:06hypocrisy and you lie, your heart
- 34:08becomes contaminated, and it becomes
- 34:10very, very difficult to live. Actually,
- 34:13mental illnesses mostly arise because
- 34:17—well, you can go crazy from this gap
- 34:21between what is inside and what is
- 34:25outside. Especially in our time,
- 34:27simplicity has been lost, and society
- 34:29puts pressure on you. It demands a
- 34:32certain outward image from you. Even
- 34:34when you get a job, you have to apply
- 34:37makeup a certain way, have this or that
- 34:40specific dress code, and so on and so
- 34:43forth. You may not like it, you may not
- 34:45want it, but you just have to do it.
- 34:46You must look a certain way. You must
- 34:49smile when you don't want to smile, and
- 34:51so on, right? And this creates a
- 34:53conflict between the internal and the
- 34:55external. That is hypocrisy. On one
- 34:58hand, in a rite, it can also manifest
- 35:01as a certain kind of cunning. Meaning,
- 35:05cunning—on one hand, it's not bad if
- 35:09you don't abuse it. Cunning...well, is
- 35:13cunning a negative word? Maybe it’s
- 35:16cleverness, right? Meaning your mind is
- 35:19not that simple. My grandmother used to
- 35:23call me a simpleton. Like your dad.
- 35:28Simplicity is worse than theft. Exactly
- 35:31. And so she really disliked that
- 35:33guilelessness. And she was exactly the
- 35:36same way herself. And actually, this,
- 35:38well...We don't need—if guilelessness
- 35:44just means you are incapable, that you
- 35:47aren't intellectual, and not smart
- 35:49enough, that is not an indicator of any
- 35:52virtue. There you go. But if you are
- 35:55very smart, and at the same time you
- 35:58use your mind for benevolent purposes,
- 36:01for example, you can say words that
- 36:03kill a person, or, using your
- 36:06intelligence and mind, you can say
- 36:08things that inspire a person; in this
- 36:11case, one could say you are being
- 36:13cunning, but you are sincere, you truly
- 36:16believe in the person. You believe in
- 36:20the person, you see their potential,
- 36:22and you choose words that will inspire
- 36:24them. If you say, "Yes, you fool!"—
- 36:29bam! You kill them, and you stray from
- 36:33benevolent truthfulness. Therefore, in
- 36:36our time of developed intellect, when
- 36:39intellect is at the level of the
- 36:41Manipura chakra, everything is simple.
- 36:45When we rise to the Anahata chakra, we
- 36:47develop this sophistication, this
- 36:50cunning appears. If this cunning or
- 36:53this mind, this sophisticated mind, is
- 36:57directed benevolently, it is an
- 37:00advantage, right? Because, look, there
- 37:03are commandments: "do not kill,""do not
- 37:06steal," and so on. This is all called
- 37:09simple morality, right? It is the
- 37:12foundation of morality, so to speak.
- 37:14Exactly. But there are situations, for
- 37:17example, war, and in that situation,
- 37:20how you act depends on time, place, and
- 37:23circumstance. And if you strictly
- 37:27follow dogma and don't see the essence
- 37:29of the spiritual message—why these
- 37:32principles are given and what they are
- 37:35for—and you only see the form, you
- 37:38won't succeed in following morality.
- 37:43Often there is, well, not often, but
- 37:45sometimes there is a conflict between,
- 37:47uh, morality in essence, yes, well,
- 37:49real morality, which, in general, is a
- 37:51manifestation of love. And some kind of
- 37:54simple, that is, a dogma, like this,
- 37:56like this, like this, just like this.
- 37:59And in order to figure out what is
- 38:01right and what is wrong, you need a
- 38:03developed mind. That is, with a simple
- 38:05mind, you won't figure it out. You'll
- 38:07say: "Eh, well, it's written right here
- 38:08." And that's it. To figure it out, you
- 38:12need a developed mind. But this very
- 38:15developed mind is a real devil. That is
- 38:18, if it works extrovertedly, if it
- 38:20works not benevolently, but toward
- 38:23acquiring some physical things, toward,
- 38:26uh, how to say, that is, your intellect
- 38:29is directed toward matter, and not
- 38:31toward spirit, not toward evil, but not
- 38:34toward benevolence, then it is a very
- 38:37fast tool for your downfall. Therefore,
- 38:41you need to be smart, but at the same
- 38:43time intentionally preserve your
- 38:45simplicity, that is, intentionally not
- 38:48fall, that is, not drift into this
- 38:50hypocrisy, that, that is, on one hand,
- 38:53it shouldn't be like a drunkard, where
- 38:55what's on the mind is on the tongue. On
- 38:59the other hand, it shouldn't be that
- 39:01inside you have one picture, right, and
- 39:02outside another. That is, you
- 39:05demonstrate a different personality for
- 39:07sale, and you have a different
- 39:09personality for your own use. That's it
- 39:12. But how to get rid of hypocrisy?
- 39:15Because hypocrisy creates crookedness
- 39:18in the mind. And crookedness means,
- 39:20that is, look, here is the soul, the
- 39:23mind, and the body. The spirit is an
- 39:26infinite source of energy. If your mind
- 39:29is straight, all this energy seeps
- 39:31through. If you are simple and straight
- 39:34, artless, without not this murky,
- 39:39complex way, then your energy, uh,
- 39:42soulful, spiritual, it shines through,
- 39:45it shines on everyone. Charisma appears
- 39:48, strength appears. You have clarity
- 39:51inside, you have the energy to make
- 39:53efforts. But you start to weave it,
- 39:55weave it, and all this energy gets
- 39:57tangled up. It will never reach the end
- 39:59consumer. That is, your mind will never
- 40:01be satiated with this spiritual energy.
- 40:03And that is why you constantly feel
- 40:05weakness. Therefore, you need to get
- 40:08rid of hypocrisy. How to get rid of
- 40:10hypocrisy? That is, we have two
- 40:12standards. On one hand, you need to
- 40:15make your external standard a little
- 40:17bit simpler. That is, don't try to act
- 40:19like a saint. I am just who I am,
- 40:21ordinary. Not a golden egg, a simple
- 40:24one. I represent a simple egg, not a
- 40:28golden one. And on the other hand,
- 40:30constantly work on your internal
- 40:32standard. If you have already spoken,
- 40:35if you have boasted, well okay, since
- 40:37you've boasted, just live up to it now.
- 40:40It wasn't your achievement yet, but
- 40:42make sure that you didn't lie. It turns
- 40:45out you sort of boasted, just a little
- 40:48bit in advance, but essentially you
- 40:50told the truth. There. And by
- 40:53constantly pulling your internal
- 40:55standard up to the external one, and
- 40:57making the external standard simpler,
- 40:59eventually, these two things will meet
- 41:01one day. When they meet, you will be a
- 41:04very healthy, mentally stable, and very
- 41:07happy person. So, what did we cover? I
- 41:11covered hypocrisy, vanity, and this,
- 41:16this arrogance I covered, greed. Yes, I
- 41:19mentioned greed. Greed is when you
- 41:21think, uh, that is, you lay claim to
- 41:24everything. First of all, you have
- 41:26envious eyes and grasping hands. Well,
- 41:30greed in the Manipura chakra is a form
- 41:33of thirst. I want it, I saw something,
- 41:36oh, I want it, I can't help it, I just
- 41:39need it. If I don't get it, I will
- 41:42suffer. In the Anahata chakra, it's
- 41:44different; it doesn't cause such
- 41:45intense suffering. Well, for instance,
- 41:47when you walk into a supermarket and
- 41:49suddenly there's some kind of sale, and
- 41:51you think: "Oh, I need this, and I need
- 41:53that, and I need that." You have
- 41:55envious eyes, grasping hands, and then
- 41:57you've grabbed so much stuff, you get
- 42:00home. Why did I buy all this? It often
- 42:03happens, by the way, that the Anahata
- 42:06chakra—it’s where our positive
- 42:09emotions are, hope and effort, and
- 42:11depression is also found here.
- 42:16Sometimes people, you have shopaholics,
- 42:19it's considered a psychological
- 42:21disorder, where when a person gets the
- 42:24blues, they head straight to the store,
- 42:27buy themselves 10 dresses, buy them,
- 42:29and suddenly, oh, they feel better. Or,
- 42:35uh, I have a friend who, when he gets
- 42:39the blues, he goes to IKEA or some
- 42:43Makita store and buys tools, nails,
- 42:47screws. He gathers so many of these
- 42:50tools, he has five chainsaws lying in
- 42:51his garage. One of this kind, another
- 42:53of that kind, and another. There.
- 42:55Meaning he doesn't buy them for any use
- 42:57, he just feels better. So when he
- 42:59feels down, he goes to the store, goes
- 43:01shopping, and starts to feel good.
- 43:03After that, yes, so in this way you
- 43:06sort of turn on your greed, and by
- 43:09doing so, you activate the Anahata
- 43:11chakra. It’s quite a paradoxical
- 43:14thing. There. And it, uh, basically,
- 43:16well, there is a positive effect here,
- 43:18it slightly supports your Anahata
- 43:20chakra's energy, but it's mostly a
- 43:21negative effect. That is, when a person
- 43:25acts greedily, keeping everything for
- 43:27themselves with the feeling that they
- 43:29deserve more, that is very unpleasant
- 43:32and unattractive behavior. Then we also
- 43:37have a vritti of the Anahata chakra
- 43:39here—the vritti of talkativeness. And
- 43:42talkativeness, I mean, uh, did I talk
- 43:45about that or not? Talkativeness, yeah?
- 43:52Vitarka. The first manifestation is
- 43:56that The Anahata chakra wants to talk.
- 44:02We are social beings, meaning we need
- 44:05to live in a pack. This is our normal
- 44:10habitat. We are pack animals. And it's
- 44:13important for us that someone
- 44:15understands us. We need to share. And
- 44:19this is a positive vritti, when you are
- 44:22capable of sharing, telling someone
- 44:26about how you are feeling. You know,
- 44:29sometimes you meet an old friend and
- 44:31talk to them. A friend came to visit me
- 44:35recently, and we started talking, and
- 44:37we talked until 4:00 AM. I said, "
- 44:39That's it, let's stop. I'm going to the
- 44:43bathroom, and you go to sleep. When I
- 44:46come back, you pretend I'm asleep."
- 44:48Otherwise, we won't get any sleep. We
- 44:51talked with him until 4:00 in the
- 44:52morning. You talk and talk, and there
- 44:54is satisfaction in the Anahata chakra.
- 44:56This person understands me, and I
- 44:59understand them. It doesn't matter what
- 45:01you were talking about, there is a
- 45:03pleasant feeling of satisfaction. You
- 45:04are supporting your Anahata chakra. And
- 45:07that's why the grandmas sit outside,
- 45:09why do the grandmas sit there? Day
- 45:11watch. At night, the youth sit, night
- 45:15watch there by the entrance. And during
- 45:17the day, the older generation takes
- 45:20over. And so they sit on watch and
- 45:23discuss everyone. Whoever walks by,
- 45:26they talk with only one goal: to
- 45:27support their Anahata chakra. So,
- 45:30communication provides support. There
- 45:32is even research showing that people
- 45:35with serious illnesses, like cancer or
- 45:39alcoholism, create support groups and
- 45:42share their progress in these groups.
- 45:46Like, "I'm practicing this method," or
- 45:49"I'm doing this,""this helps me," or "
- 45:51I'm hanging in there, I barely managed
- 45:54not to relapse." And because of this
- 45:57exchange, because of this mutual
- 45:59support, the Anahata chakra is
- 46:00sustained, and so the intention returns
- 46:02. Remember I told you? That is, a
- 46:05person starts meditating, they have an
- 46:06intention. From what? From the fact
- 46:09that we sat at the lecture and
- 46:10communicated with each other. That's
- 46:12how it is. Some mutual understanding
- 46:14occurred, some kind of synergy, alchemy
- 46:16, and the person felt power inside the
- 46:20anahata chakra, got nourished, filled
- 46:22their anahata chakra with energy. Now
- 46:24they are certain, 100%. Yes, I will. I
- 46:26ask: "Will you meditate?" When a person
- 46:28comes, asks for initiation, and says: "
- 46:30Will you definitely meditate?" Yes, yes
- 46:33, yes, yes, I intend to, I will 100%.
- 46:36Well, what do you think? Nine out of
- 46:39ten people, they do not meditate. That
- 46:41is why I decided not to initiate anyone
- 46:43. Meaning, I will only initiate those
- 46:46who prove their fitness for practice.
- 46:49That is, if they practice for half a
- 46:51year straight, for half an hour twice a
- 46:53day, then I will initiate. Well, anyway
- 46:56, I digressed from the topic. So, there
- 46:59was an intention, then that intention
- 47:02disappeared somewhere. And this
- 47:04intention means the anahata chakra has
- 47:06weakened again. I mean, what I was
- 47:08saying is that when we have support,
- 47:10for example, Alcoholics Anonymous, they
- 47:12gather together, they talk about the
- 47:14difficulties they are going through,
- 47:16about their victories, and you get
- 47:18inspired simply by the inspiration of
- 47:20another person. This is communication
- 47:23at the level of the anahata chakra. The
- 47:26anahata chakra turns on, and
- 47:27accordingly, you get the intention to
- 47:30move forward, yes, to achieve success,
- 47:32to move further. So. That is definitely
- 47:35a positive trait in this case. Yes. But
- 47:38sometimes it goes out of balance. If
- 47:40the anahata chakra is out of balance,
- 47:43this trait turns into talkativeness.
- 47:46Talkativeness. A person can no longer
- 47:49control themselves. They talk and talk
- 47:51and talk, and the subject of the
- 47:52conversation is constantly "I". "And I
- 47:55did this.""And I have carpets on the
- 47:57floors, carpets on the walls." An
- 47:59acquaintance of mine used to say that.
- 48:01Showing off, bragging. That is when the
- 48:05imbalance of the anahata chakra has
- 48:07begun. If the mind becomes more
- 48:10spiritualized and introspective, then
- 48:13this trait recedes. That is, the person
- 48:16simply loses the desire to talk about
- 48:18themselves, loses the desire to show
- 48:21off, brag, and so on. They feel good as
- 48:23it is, because the anahata chakra is
- 48:24already filled. Otherwise, they just
- 48:26demanded attention to support their
- 48:28anahata chakra. But now they don't need
- 48:29it. They have a strong anahata chakra.
- 48:31They can support another person with
- 48:33their anahata chakra. Yes. And an even
- 48:37more severe manifestation is
- 48:39quarrelsomeness. So, look: conversation
- 48:43, the ability to talk, to share your
- 48:45own. Then talkativeness, an
- 48:48uncontrolled manifestation. Then comes
- 48:50quarrelsomeness. Quarrelsomeness is,
- 48:52well, keep track of this phrase. Some
- 48:56people say, "Yeah, but, yeah, but,"
- 48:58they seem to agree, but they can't let
- 49:00you have the last word because then
- 49:02you’d be the important one. And they
- 49:05don't want you to be important; they
- 49:06want to be the important ones. That's
- 49:08why they say, "Yeah, but, yeah, but."
- 49:11You see how all these vrittis are
- 49:12interconnected. Vanity, everything,
- 49:14talkativeness, greed, hypocrisy,
- 49:16arrogance—it's all woven into one
- 49:18tangle. It’s the same energy of this
- 49:22level, which can manifest very
- 49:24positively or very negatively. And
- 49:33ultimately, a very damaged Anahata
- 49:35chakra—meaning broken or destroyed—
- 49:39manifests the same trait of this
- 49:41constant arguing as crankiness. Maybe
- 49:46you’ve heard of people who keep
- 49:49pacing back and forth, right? That is,
- 49:52you make sarcastic remarks, this
- 49:55critical nature awakens in you, you
- 49:58want to say something negative, and so
- 50:02on. This is also a disturbance in the
- 50:04functioning of the Anahata chakra. And
- 50:09next, we have the quality of depression
- 50:15here in the Anahata chakra. Depression
- 50:18often arises from fear. Fear arises in
- 50:22the Manipura chakra. Energy leaves the
- 50:25Anahata chakra. There is no energy here
- 50:28, and you fall into a state of
- 50:30depression, a mental stupor. Meaning, I
- 50:33don't want anything, I won't do
- 50:35anything, fear paralyzes me. There. Or
- 50:38it arises from hopelessness, this
- 50:40depression. There. And there is a very
- 50:42interesting observation. And it is, in
- 50:45fact, a scientific study. Doctors have
- 50:49conducted many studies on this topic
- 50:52regarding the influence of hope and
- 50:55hopelessness on immunity.
- 50:59Psychoneuroimmunology is the subject of
- 51:02this science. It turns out that our
- 51:06emotions strongly influence our
- 51:09well-being. And it turns out that
- 51:13people who are lonely—and by lonely,
- 51:16I mean those who are truly lonely—are
- 51:19much more susceptible to any illness.
- 51:23The risk of contracting a serious
- 51:25disease is nearly 10 times higher than
- 51:28that of a person who has loved ones.
- 51:31Moreover, a lonely person can be
- 51:32surrounded by many people; they might
- 51:34be married, have brothers and sisters,
- 51:36it doesn't matter, they are lonely at a
- 51:37deep level. They feel that no one
- 51:39understands them, no one shares their
- 51:41feelings. You see, right? The
- 51:42connection to the immune system. We
- 51:45have the Anahata chakra here, and the
- 51:47thymus gland is located here. Not much
- 51:49was known about it for a long time.
- 51:52When immune diseases like AIDS appeared
- 51:55, they began to research the immune
- 51:58system in general and encountered this
- 52:01thymus gland. And it turned out that in
- 52:04childhood it is large, then it becomes
- 52:07proportionally smaller relative to the
- 52:10body. Right. And, well, they thought it
- 52:12was some kind of atavism, that it
- 52:13wasn't needed for anything. Right. But
- 52:15then they found out that it is a very
- 52:17important organ. That is, this gland
- 52:19secretes the hormone thymosin, and it
- 52:23processes blood cells with this
- 52:25thymosin so that they turn into
- 52:27T-killer cells. These T-killer cells,
- 52:31activated by the thymus—the thymus
- 52:33gland—and the hormone thymosin, they
- 52:37become the police force of your body.
- 52:42It's like training police officers;
- 52:44they ride around on motorcycles and in
- 52:47SUVs, catching someone and saying, "Hey
- 52:49, show me your ID." They show their ID.
- 52:53Oh, it's the flu virus—shoot it down.
- 52:57So, this is the police and army of our
- 52:59body. If our Anahata chakra is
- 53:03suppressed, emotionally suppressed, the
- 53:05immune system's function is also
- 53:08suppressed. And this has been proven. I
- 53:10mean, there's a lot of evidence. The
- 53:12same goes for nursing homes. Suddenly,
- 53:14children put their parents in a nursing
- 53:17home. It's a blow. You think, what did
- 53:18I even live for? I don't understand.
- 53:20What is the point of my life? The
- 53:21meaning of life is lost, hope is lost.
- 53:24You have nothing to get up for, nothing
- 53:25to live for. People get sick quickly
- 53:27and die. But if they find something
- 53:30that motivates them—some new
- 53:32relationships, a new friendship, or
- 53:35you’re simply taking care of a flower
- 53:38or a hamster, something that gives you
- 53:40meaning, started writing a book—
- 53:43something that gives you meaning,
- 53:45people live good, fulfilling lives.
- 53:49There is a statistic that when people
- 53:51retire, it's like opening Pandora's box
- 53:53; all their ailments start pouring out
- 53:55because when they were working, they
- 53:58felt needed. I am indispensable. There
- 54:00is meaning in my life, there is hope.
- 54:03How will they manage without me?
- 54:04Without me, the world will stop. Who
- 54:05could do my job like that? They retire,
- 54:08and it turns out the work gets done,
- 54:10everything goes on. And what am I
- 54:12needed for? What is the point? You see
- 54:13how we are wired. It is very important
- 54:16for us to realize this great meaning in
- 54:18our lives. Otherwise, we can't even
- 54:20remain healthy. We fall into depression
- 54:22. A whole Pandora's box opens up for us
- 54:25. You don't maintain your mental
- 54:26strength, your personal power. It is
- 54:28very important to have this meaning in
- 54:31life. That's it. And so, one way or
- 54:34another, in the Anahata chakra, meaning
- 54:37when they manifest, it means energy is
- 54:39flowing through the Anahata chakra.
- 54:42Your immune system is stimulated, and
- 54:46your life force is manifested. The
- 54:50aspiration, the ability to achieve your
- 54:53goals is attained. There. So, this is
- 54:55very positive from this perspective.
- 54:57There. But they can turn around and
- 55:00work negatively, pushing you toward
- 55:02materialism. Also, that. And the final
- 55:06thing here, the most important one that
- 55:08I haven't mentioned yet regarding the
- 55:09heart. What what emotion is it? The
- 55:12most key one is love. Love. And it
- 55:16turns out that love doesn't just have a
- 55:19good emotional impact on us; the
- 55:21emotional impact is such that you can
- 55:24move mountains if it is true love. Our
- 55:26Guru said it like this. He says: "Love
- 55:28is the feeling that makes the mind
- 55:31smooth, strong, and steady even in a
- 55:34state of pain." Meaning even if there
- 55:38is some monstrous discomfort or a
- 55:40serious trial in life, if you have love
- 55:43, there is no force that can break you.
- 55:46There. So, the emotional significance
- 55:48is very great. And it turns out there
- 55:50is even a physical effect. There was an
- 55:54experiment with Mother Teresa, where
- 55:57people were shown a recording of Mother
- 56:00Teresa caring for her wards. And she
- 56:03was a very sincere woman. She was a
- 56:06person of great love. And she cared for
- 56:09her wards so sincerely and with such
- 56:11love. People were watching, and tears
- 56:14even came to their eyes. And people
- 56:16were watching, and before this viewing,
- 56:20their level of, let's say, immune
- 56:22system performance was measured. And
- 56:26after. And it turns out that after
- 56:29watching this video, when those same
- 56:30things resonated and awakened in their
- 56:32Anahata chakra, their immune system, it
- 56:34turns out, was working better than it
- 56:36had before. So, you see, we are
- 56:39actually machines of enlightenment, you
- 56:41and I. We are fully, completely tuned
- 56:44to move higher and higher. We are tuned
- 56:47to walk a noble path. But the ignoble
- 56:50path, the path of insignificance, the
- 56:54path of this pettiness, the path of
- 56:57fixation on one's small personality,
- 57:00leads us to suffering because our
- 57:03chakras do not accept this. They say: "
- 57:06No, this is wrong, it shouldn't be this
- 57:08way." And then you you experience
- 57:10various ailments. If for animals it is
- 57:13prescribed, that is their dharma, their
- 57:15destiny. That is, when they live
- 57:17selfishly, caring only about themselves
- 57:19, fulfilling the instincts of their
- 57:21lower centers, they are very healthy
- 57:22because, well, that's how it should be.
- 57:25But when a person acts this way, they
- 57:28begin to suffer. They begin to suffer.
- 57:30They lose this harmony, they lose their
- 57:32strength. So, for a person to be strong
- 57:35, they must move into the transpersonal
- 57:38sphere and be aimed at the well-being
- 57:41of others. I actually read an article
- 57:44recently saying that people are
- 57:47altruistic by nature. That is, in
- 57:49essence, we are all good, we are born
- 57:51good, we are born altruistic. Flaws in
- 57:54upbringing and flawed philosophy
- 57:57distort us in such a way that we move
- 58:00away from our nature, and naturally, we
- 58:03suffer. Yes. But what is prescribed for
- 58:06the Anahata chakra? How do you develop
- 58:09the Anahata chakra? The question of
- 58:12questions. If you achieve a strong,
- 58:15powerful Anahata chakra, we will get,
- 58:18the whole world will get, a new,
- 58:20shining, magnificent personality. And
- 58:23it is possible. It is 100%possible. I
- 58:26see how guys who truly engage and
- 58:30practice—I watch as magnificence is
- 58:34born. I look and, ah, I get immense
- 58:37pleasure and satisfaction just watching
- 58:41these people who blossom and unfold
- 58:44through spiritual practice. I mean,
- 58:48these chakras are balanced, and the
- 58:50Anahata chakra is filled. It is just
- 58:52very pleasant to see. I am absolutely
- 58:55sure that everyone can do this. If only
- 58:57there were courage. And courage is
- 58:58needed; yes, you have to let the bird
- 59:01in your hand go to grasp the one in the
- 59:03sky. So, you need to step away, you
- 59:06need to dare to step away from old
- 59:08patterns of behavior and thinking. You
- 59:11need to retune yourself from this
- 59:13egoism. That sounds like heresy, right?
- 59:20We are so used to thinking that egoism
- 59:22is right, everything for yourself, for
- 59:24yourself, for yourself, for yourself.
- 59:28First, you need to at least
- 59:30intellectually reprogram yourself for
- 59:32the well-being of others. Move from "I"
- 59:35to at least "we." Not "I," but "we." We
- 59:39, humanity. Feel it like that. I live
- 59:42for the common good of all. Yes. And
- 59:47what do you need to do for your Anahata
- 59:49chakra to shine? The first is that your
- 59:53conscience must be clear; follow moral
- 59:56principles, the yamas and niyamas. Next
- 1:00:00. If you suddenly do something that
- 1:00:03contradicts your conscience, that goes
- 1:00:05against you, you need to repent. You
- 1:00:08need to tell a person you trust about
- 1:00:11it, someone you know won't misuse what
- 1:00:14you've told them. Someone whose wisdom
- 1:00:18you believe in. Yes. And you need to
- 1:00:21take on some austerity that will
- 1:00:23correct this defect. So, deep
- 1:00:26repentance and austerity cleanse the
- 1:00:29heart and fill it with energy. Next.
- 1:00:33And the most important thing of all for
- 1:00:37the Anahata chakra is good company. If
- 1:00:40you have good company, your Anahata
- 1:00:42chakra will always shine. Remember, I
- 1:00:44once talked about our need for social
- 1:00:46connection. Yes. But when we interact,
- 1:00:48good company leads you to the heavens,
- 1:00:51it leads you to liberation, while bad
- 1:00:54company enslaves you more and more. The
- 1:00:57best company is the company of people
- 1:00:59who are just as focused on the heights
- 1:01:02as you are. In other words, yogis need
- 1:01:05to unite. And not just unite to get
- 1:01:08together, eat, drink tea, and so on.
- 1:01:11Unite for the purpose of spiritual
- 1:01:12practice. And they need to plan how
- 1:01:15they will bring well-being to the whole
- 1:01:17world. Gathering and planning this
- 1:01:21total transformation of the earth, when
- 1:01:23you feel this mission is yours. Maybe I
- 1:01:26am small, but little me will do
- 1:01:28something for a great mission. You must
- 1:01:31always think that as long as my heart
- 1:01:34beats, I will not stop making efforts
- 1:01:36to save this world. No more, no less.
- 1:01:39At the very least, one must think that
- 1:01:41way. We need to think globally. And act
- 1:01:44locally. And we will start saving the
- 1:01:47world by cleaning up our own entryway.
- 1:01:50Because if our neighbors are happy,
- 1:01:52that is already significant; that is
- 1:01:55how happiness spreads. From this point,
- 1:01:59it spreads to the entire building.
- 1:02:01Right. So, interact with that purpose,
- 1:02:05that is, use and unite into groups of
- 1:02:09people with shared interests. Unite for
- 1:02:13the purposes of practice and for some
- 1:02:16kind of beneficial activity. That is
- 1:02:19one. We perform collective meditation
- 1:02:22as a practice. A very, very important
- 1:02:25thing. You need this recharge, this
- 1:02:27reboot at least once a week. And during
- 1:02:30collective meditation, interaction
- 1:02:31happens naturally. Because I haven't
- 1:02:33told you yet that "satsang," or
- 1:02:35spiritual company, comes in two types.
- 1:02:38One type of spiritual company is
- 1:02:39external. This means having people with
- 1:02:42whom you can share your innermost
- 1:02:43spiritual thoughts. Yes, it is hard to
- 1:02:45share with most people. You start
- 1:02:47telling them about what inspires you in
- 1:02:49the spiritual realm. They will say, "
- 1:02:52Why?" Well, you just don't find mutual
- 1:02:54understanding. And so, with people who
- 1:02:56are truly just like you, spiritual
- 1:02:58seekers, you have something to share
- 1:03:00with them, and they have something to
- 1:03:02share with you. Right. But that is
- 1:03:05external company, it isn't always
- 1:03:06available. You don't always find people
- 1:03:09who are truly like-minded, with whom
- 1:03:12you can simply talk in a real way. That
- 1:03:16is why another important thing is
- 1:03:19internal satsang, internal company. And
- 1:03:23that is your relationship with God,
- 1:03:25with the higher consciousness. I
- 1:03:27remember when I announced that I wanted
- 1:03:30to become a monk, that I wanted to
- 1:03:33dedicate my life to service and so on.
- 1:03:37My Dada, my mentor, he said: "Do you
- 1:03:39know what it means to be a monk?" I
- 1:03:42said: "Dada, I don't know what it is."
- 1:03:44He says: "I will tell you one word that
- 1:03:47defines us." I say: "Yes, what word?"
- 1:03:50He says: "Solitude." I'm like: "Well, I
- 1:03:55don't really feel alone, there are so
- 1:03:57many people around me." And he says: "
- 1:03:59Yes, you are here right now, living the
- 1:04:01high life, like a cat in clover.""But I
- 1:04:05am sending you to another city now, and
- 1:04:06there you will experience a different
- 1:04:08situation." So I went to that city, and
- 1:04:11I had no friends, no loved ones,
- 1:04:13nothing there. And I just, well, I
- 1:04:15couldn't share anything deeply with
- 1:04:18anyone, there was no depth to it. And I
- 1:04:21got the blues. I got depressed, started
- 1:04:23feeling lonely, started sensing some
- 1:04:25kind of meaninglessness in life. It was
- 1:04:28hard. And then one day I remember,
- 1:04:31something happened to me. I picked up
- 1:04:34my guitar and started to sing, but I
- 1:04:37sang like I had never sung before. I
- 1:04:39was truly singing for the Almighty, you
- 1:04:41see? I mean, I was dancing, singing,
- 1:04:44and I felt Him right there next to me.
- 1:04:46And it was so incredibly sweet, so
- 1:04:50incredibly wonderful and beautiful. In
- 1:04:53that moment, I felt a powerful presence
- 1:04:56, that God is always near me, always
- 1:04:59outside and inside of me. And then I
- 1:05:02thought, I can endure any solitude.
- 1:05:05Meaning, whatever happens to me, I am
- 1:05:07no longer afraid. Yes. And when Dada
- 1:05:10arrived, I said: "Dada, you know, this
- 1:05:12happened to me, and now I feel
- 1:05:14completely different." I constantly
- 1:05:16feel a sweetness in my life. I
- 1:05:20constantly feel this love that doesn't
- 1:05:22come from any person, but comes from
- 1:05:25the Universe itself, that I fell in
- 1:05:27love with creation, I fell in love with
- 1:05:30this supreme entity, and I feel a
- 1:05:32reciprocal love. And Dada smiled and
- 1:05:36said: "And this is our path." He says:
- 1:05:40"Well yes, now I believe you are ready
- 1:05:43to be a monk, because you have
- 1:05:46understood this idea of inner satsang."
- 1:05:50That is, when you have this inner
- 1:05:52satsang, you are not dependent on
- 1:05:54anyone, and you stop begging for
- 1:05:56affection. Yes. That's why people talk
- 1:05:59about vanity and hypocrisy, right?
- 1:06:02Because, love me, love me, please, give
- 1:06:04me some, give to me. I am so poor, I am
- 1:06:06so, I am so thirsty for this love. As
- 1:06:09Rilke wrote, he says: "Oh, God, if I
- 1:06:13weren't so, ah, so poor and
- 1:06:16insignificant, I would throw you a
- 1:06:20grand banquet." But I, he says, am now
- 1:06:23before you with an outstretched hand. I
- 1:06:26thirst for this love. There. And when
- 1:06:30this need for love is realized on a
- 1:06:31subtle level, it is resolved through
- 1:06:33your meditation, through your
- 1:06:35relationship with the Almighty, then
- 1:06:37you are no longer with an outstretched
- 1:06:39hand. Now truly capable of loving, you
- 1:06:42are now capable of giving. You are
- 1:06:45capable of sharing because you do not
- 1:06:46expect anything from others. You do not
- 1:06:49expect to be praised. You can praise
- 1:06:51others sincerely. And when someone else
- 1:06:53is praised, you have no envy. You have
- 1:06:56satisfaction. You have pleasure. Do you
- 1:06:58understand, right? This is internal and
- 1:07:00external satsang. But to experience
- 1:07:02internal satsang, you need to walk
- 1:07:04toward it for quite a long time. And
- 1:07:06external satsang helps a great deal.
- 1:07:10That is, external satsang, sanga, means
- 1:07:12contact with the Almighty, or with
- 1:07:15eternity. Contact with eternity. And
- 1:07:18this is satsang, when you gather
- 1:07:21together, meditate together, magic is
- 1:07:24created. And there is a full sense that
- 1:07:27God has come. And He is also among you.
- 1:07:29He is also enjoying this mutual
- 1:07:32kindness, mutual love, this flight of
- 1:07:35high thought, this noble aspiration.
- 1:07:39You have brought the Almighty into your
- 1:07:41circle, right? And this feeling is very
- 1:07:44important. And when you catch it,
- 1:07:46gradually you become established in it,
- 1:07:49that is, you have practiced collective
- 1:07:51meditation very regularly and
- 1:07:53powerfully, and one day you can
- 1:07:55discover it alone too. There. Both are
- 1:07:58needed, both are necessary. Both
- 1:08:00internal and external. At first, you
- 1:08:02just have a need, then you need it as a
- 1:08:05service, as a way to serve. That is,
- 1:08:08you are in the company of other people
- 1:08:11because you can also give something to
- 1:08:13them. So, we had conscience, correct
- 1:08:19moral principles, repentance, atonement
- 1:08:22, spiritual company, and chanting
- 1:08:25mantras. Yes, when you sing, love is
- 1:08:28all there is. What could be better for
- 1:08:30the development of the Anahata Chakra?
- 1:08:32And remember, I told you about the
- 1:08:35Lalita Marmika dance. In Lalita Marmika
- 1:08:38, there are two gestures. One is like
- 1:08:40this. You place your hands at the level
- 1:08:43of the heart, your feelings of the
- 1:08:44heart are manifested, the very subtle,
- 1:08:46noble qualities of your heart are
- 1:08:48activated. And the second is this
- 1:08:50gesture. This is completely open, wise,
- 1:08:54and hands raised upward. And the
- 1:08:58sensation here is this, and the
- 1:08:59ideation here is this. I am emerging
- 1:09:02from my shell. I cast aside the shell
- 1:09:06of my ego, my greed, my attachments, my
- 1:09:09pride and so on, my fears. This shell
- 1:09:12remains, I don't want it anymore. That
- 1:09:15is the past, those are my skeletons. I
- 1:09:17open myself up to the world. Now I am
- 1:09:19ready for love. I love and I accept
- 1:09:22love. Like that. And when you sing and
- 1:09:26dance like this, chanting a mantra, an
- 1:09:29exceptionally strong state of mind
- 1:09:32arises. All complexes are erased,
- 1:09:35inferiority complexes, superiority
- 1:09:37complexes. All of this is shattered by
- 1:09:40sincere love for the higher. This is
- 1:09:44also for the anahata chakra. This is
- 1:09:46for the anahata chakra. You can find
- 1:09:48them in the playlist. This is the basic
- 1:09:52cobra, yes, we do a backbend like this.
- 1:09:56This is dhanurasana or naukasana, it is
- 1:09:59called differently. The boat pose or
- 1:10:01the bow pose. Chakra asana. This is
- 1:10:05bhavasana. Bhavasana. The pose of
- 1:10:07ideation. This is the plow pose. This
- 1:10:14is...This is shavasana. Shavasana, the
- 1:10:17pose of consciousness within it. This
- 1:10:20is the very asana that heals vanity,
- 1:10:22yes, it makes you much more humble.
- 1:10:25There. Well, those are the basics. And
- 1:10:27there are breathing exercises, that is,
- 1:10:29just like we did for the lower chakras,
- 1:10:32remember, I told you, you inhale and
- 1:10:35you visualize that energy, the vital
- 1:10:37force, is being absorbed into the
- 1:10:39manipura chakra. So here you shift it
- 1:10:42to the anahata chakra, but you don't do
- 1:10:44it lying down, you do it sitting. And
- 1:10:46so you inhale and move your arms back,
- 1:10:51and you feel how your anahata chakra is
- 1:10:54being filled with this energy. Then
- 1:10:57exhale, arms forward, and you kind of
- 1:11:00release this vital force from yourself,
- 1:11:03and it returns to the ocean of energy
- 1:11:06around you. And that is how you inhale
- 1:11:09and exhale. Inhale and exhale. Seven
- 1:11:12times. Seven such movements. It charges
- 1:11:14the anahata chakra very strongly. So,
- 1:11:18asanas, these exercises, moral
- 1:11:21principles, good conversations, good
- 1:11:23literature—things that resonate with
- 1:11:26the feeling of the heart. You can
- 1:11:29experience noble aspirations, a sense
- 1:11:33of mission in life, a sense of purpose
- 1:11:37in life, spiritual friends, collective
- 1:11:41meditation, chanting mantras and
- 1:11:44dancing. That is what is needed for the
- 1:11:47development of the anahata chakra. I
- 1:11:50will tell you, the more you are
- 1:11:52together, if you have even three people
- 1:11:54in the city who are like you,
- 1:11:56meditating in the same system, doing
- 1:11:58the practice, you gather together,
- 1:12:00stick together, be together as much as
- 1:12:02possible. Understand that these things
- 1:12:07like, I don't know, earning money,
- 1:12:09building a nest and so on, that will
- 1:12:10all come. And it will all come easily.
- 1:12:15Invest time in your spiritual
- 1:12:17development. Be at group meditations
- 1:12:21more often, be at retreats more often.
- 1:12:25Of course, you still need to work,
- 1:12:27study, and so on. You need to invest in
- 1:12:30intellectual development and physical
- 1:12:32development. Yes. But make it a
- 1:12:33priority. Invest more in spiritual
- 1:12:36development. Even when you think, "I
- 1:12:39don't know, I'm busy with all these
- 1:12:42things.""I'm involved in social
- 1:12:45activities, I do service, I do
- 1:12:46meditation, and I have nothing left.""
- 1:12:49And I'm barely getting by.""Maybe I'm
- 1:12:52short on money somewhere or something
- 1:12:55else." Believe me, it will all pay off
- 1:12:58one day, because once you have
- 1:13:00developed your spiritual strength, all
- 1:13:03other achievements—material,
- 1:13:05intellectual—come very easily. I see
- 1:13:09this to be true. The most important
- 1:13:11thing is for you to ground yourself, to
- 1:13:13establish yourself as a spiritual being
- 1:13:16. Once you have done that, everything
- 1:13:19else will also come easily to you. Yes.
- 1:13:23And for that, you need to be in satsang
- 1:13:25, in spiritual company, as much as
- 1:13:27possible. Never miss an opportunity to
- 1:13:29be in spiritual company. Never miss out
- 1:13:33on this, this most golden thing. This
- 1:13:36is what is pure nectar for you. Yes.
- 1:13:41Well, I have basically finished with
- 1:13:44the Anahata chakra. It is an important
- 1:13:46center. The next center will be
- 1:13:49superhuman. Vishuddha chakra. We have
- 1:13:52talked about human emotions. All the
- 1:13:54best.
