- 0:01welcome and welcome back to another
- 0:04video
- 0:05today I want to talk about something
- 0:08really important for all of our lives
- 0:10especially in these days and that is the
- 0:14things that we should not speak with
- 0:17others according to Buddhist teachings
- 0:20now at first you might be thinking well
- 0:23I'm not a Buddhist so why should I care
- 0:26about these things
- 0:27here's the thing these principles can be
- 0:31applied to anyone's life regardless of
- 0:34their religion or belief system
- 0:37so that is why these speeches are called
- 0:41for unwholesome speeches that is what
- 0:45Buddha said about these speeches four
- 0:49unwholesome speeches so without any
- 0:51further Ado let's Dive In
- 0:54first of all we have lying now Buddha
- 0:58said stay away from lying
- 1:00now I know we all have said white lies
- 1:04here and there in all of our lives right
- 1:06but whether it is a white lie whether it
- 1:09is a black light gray light or a red lie
- 1:12no matter what the LIE is lying itself
- 1:15can be so harmful for all of our lives
- 1:19why is that
- 1:21when you lie it destroys your trust when
- 1:26you lie it destroys your character right
- 1:30so that is why it is very important to
- 1:34have trust between people in our daily
- 1:37relationships between people the most
- 1:39important component of a happy
- 1:41relationship is the trust
- 1:44so that is why Buddha said live a
- 1:46truthful life and it is very important
- 1:49to have that transparency and honesty in
- 1:52our relationships so the first thing
- 1:54that we have to stay away from is lie
- 1:57and next we have divisive speech
- 2:01what do you mean by divisive speech
- 2:04divisive speech is all about creating
- 2:06drama between people or creating
- 2:09conflicts between people using your
- 2:11words right it can be gossiping or it
- 2:15can be talking behind someone's back
- 2:17right I might say that when you talk
- 2:20these words or when you use this
- 2:22divisive speech it is not a good thing
- 2:25for your life and and also it is not a
- 2:28good thing for other people's
- 2:29relationships so Buddha said do not use
- 2:33this divisive speech do not break the
- 2:36relationships between people using your
- 2:39words most of the time we use the
- 2:43divisive speech out of jealousy or out
- 2:46of anger
- 2:47so that is why it's very important to
- 2:50stay away from divisive speech
- 2:52and the third one is Buddha said
- 2:55stay away from harsh speech
- 2:59now
- 3:00when someone is calling you or when when
- 3:03someone is treating you with rude words
- 3:05how do you feel now we all have been in
- 3:08this receiving end of such speeches now
- 3:11how did you feel
- 3:13we felt sad we felt depressed we felt
- 3:17down about ourselves
- 3:19so that is why Buddha said do not use
- 3:22your words to put someone down right do
- 3:27not use your words out of anger this is
- 3:31all about criticizing and name calling
- 3:33and putting someone else down with your
- 3:36words right so Buddha said stay away
- 3:39from
- 3:41harsh speech
- 3:43and finally Buddha said stay away from
- 3:47idle chatter
- 3:48what do you mean by idle chatter
- 3:51idle chatter is all about speaking
- 3:54meaningless or useless things right now
- 3:57that doesn't say that we cannot have a
- 4:00small chat or a fun talk with people you
- 4:03can you we can do that but we have to
- 4:06know where our limit is in our speech
- 4:09right we have to set the boundaries in
- 4:12our speech right we have to know where
- 4:15our speech become unproductive right
- 4:19when you use these words when you use
- 4:21your words in a meaningful way you can
- 4:24create a positive life and you can
- 4:27create a positive emotions or positive
- 4:30positive feelings in others lives too
- 4:32right so these are the four unwholesome
- 4:37speeches that we have to stay away from
- 4:41that our great teacher Supreme Buddha
- 4:43taught us according to the Buddha's
- 4:45teachings right so why all these things
- 4:48matter why these unwholesome speeches
- 4:50matter in our life well Buddha said the
- 4:55words that we speak can create either
- 4:58positive or negative karma in our life
- 5:01do not think lightly about this Karma
- 5:04right you have to be very careful about
- 5:08the karma so the intention behind your
- 5:11words really matters in your life and
- 5:14that is why we have to use our words
- 5:17wisely because it can make a huge impact
- 5:21in our lives as well as in others lives
- 5:24too so words that we speak are like a
- 5:29knife right you can use the knife to cut
- 5:32something useful right and also you can
- 5:36use the knife to kill someone else so
- 5:38let's use our words to create a better
- 5:41life for ourselves and for others so
- 5:44thank you for tuning in I hope you got
- 5:46some food for thought for your life so
- 5:50until next time I wish you all may all
- 5:53of you be well and happy and may all of
- 5:55you live in peace forever
