- 0:00Namaskar. Today's topic: Manipura
- 0:06chakra. Manipura. Manipura. Pura means
- 0:11city. Mani means treasure. City of
- 0:15treasures. And this center symbolizes,
- 0:21uh, the highest expression of
- 0:23arthavritti or psycho-physical longing,
- 0:25right? That is, in the Muladhara chakra
- 0:30, remember, there were four tendencies.
- 0:33And so, uh, the first tendency,
- 0:35kamavritti, that is, the one that gives
- 0:38energy, this tendency, it manifests
- 0:40through the Swadhisthana chakra, right?
- 0:44A crude form of desire, a crude form of
- 0:46longing. Now a more subtle form of
- 0:49longing, artha, psycho-physical longing
- 0:51, manifests through the Manipura chakra
- 0:53. And here, the extroverted tendency of
- 0:56a person reaches its apogee. That is, a
- 0:58person starts getting carried away by
- 1:00the external world, meaning they think:
- 1:03"Wow, everything, I want this, I want
- 1:05this, I want this, I want this." So the
- 1:07city of treasures, it becomes enchanted
- 1:09by the external world. All of this is
- 1:11at the level of the Manipura chakra. So
- 1:13this is the center where we feel
- 1:15ambitions, desires, materialism; it is
- 1:18all here in the Manipura chakra. But
- 1:20compared to the Swadhisthana chakra,
- 1:23this is a significant, significant
- 1:25growth in evolution. It's like, you
- 1:28know, there was a computer before—an
- 1:31IBM 286, and then bam, Pentium, and
- 1:34then bam, two cores. There. Something
- 1:38similar happens when we switch on, that
- 1:40is, we start feeling, having moved from
- 1:42the level of the Swadhisthana chakra to
- 1:44the level of the Manipura chakra. So
- 1:46the level of the Manipura chakra, when
- 1:48a person is at the level of the
- 1:49Manipura chakra, their energy is
- 1:51expressed through the Manipura chakra,
- 1:53they are completely adequate. That is,
- 1:56you can talk to them, communicate, and
- 1:58they understand how to conduct
- 2:00diplomacy, they negotiate. So here they
- 2:03are already fully adequate, the
- 2:05intellect is not blocked, it works well
- 2:07. This is Manipura. And let me remind
- 2:12you, it controls the element of fire in
- 2:14the body, right? So it is actually the
- 2:18furnace of our organism. It also
- 2:21controls the digestive system. There.
- 2:23And fire in the body. So being warm or
- 2:26cold depends on the Manipura chakra. If
- 2:28a person's Manipura chakra is strong,
- 2:30then they are warm and they are also
- 2:32not hot. That is, they can sit in a
- 2:34sauna at 100 degrees and it's no big
- 2:36deal to them. And they can also be out
- 2:38in the sun, under the scorching sun,
- 2:40and it's also no big deal. And they
- 2:43also tolerate cold well. That is the
- 2:45power of the Manipura chakra in this
- 2:47warmth, the fire of our body. Mm. So it
- 2:51controls the fire element.
- 2:53Uh-huh. The animal. The symbol here is
- 2:55a goat. A goat. Its thick hide, its
- 3:00thick wool symbolizes fire. And it is
- 3:03such an adventurous animal. It always
- 3:05wants to find adventures for itself. It
- 3:08climbs on rocks there and so on. This
- 3:12is what Manipura is here. And what else
- 3:15can be said about it in general? So,
- 3:19the emotions represented in the
- 3:21Manipura chakra correspond to the level
- 3:24of warm-blooded animals. That is, if
- 3:28the Swadhisthana chakra is cold-blooded
- 3:30creatures, then here we have
- 3:32warm-blooded creatures. And at this
- 3:35level, we already experience, well,
- 3:37maybe not love, but at least attachment
- 3:39. We experience warmth. We feel good
- 3:42because we have someone. If at the
- 3:44level of the Swadhisthana chakra, yes,
- 3:46snakes give birth to their young and
- 3:49immediately devour them, or fish devour
- 3:51their offspring. Ah, there is
- 3:53absolutely no attachment or anything
- 3:55like that. But at the level of the
- 3:57Manipura chakra, that is simply
- 3:59impossible. That is, instinct no longer
- 4:01allows it. You have an attachment, and
- 4:03if you are deprived of the object of
- 4:05your attachment, you will suffer. Yes,
- 4:07elephants raise their trunks to the sky
- 4:09. If they have lost a partner, the male
- 4:13or female, they raise their trunks to
- 4:15the sky and trumpet, expressing their
- 4:17grief. It turns out to be a very
- 4:21heartbreaking sight. That is the level
- 4:24of the Manipura chakra. And it must be
- 4:27said that in our current society,
- 4:29people actually live in the
- 4:30Swadhisthana and Manipura chakras. The
- 4:32Anahata chakra is rarely encountered,
- 4:34and the Vishuddha chakra is almost
- 4:36non-existent. That is, it is almost not
- 4:38there; it is not present. Now, the
- 4:40Manipura chakra is for civilization.
- 4:43That is, if a civilization lives at the
- 4:45level of the Swadhisthana chakra, it is
- 4:47a civilization of savages, while the
- 4:49Manipura chakra provides and creates
- 4:51civilization. That is, a civilization
- 4:53or society at the level of the
- 4:54Swadhisthana chakra is one where
- 4:56everything is allowed, and nothing is
- 4:58shameful. A primitive communal system.
- 5:00Everything is allowed, and nothing is
- 5:02shameful. Ah, and just enjoy yourself,
- 5:05just derive pleasure. Why not? That is,
- 5:08nothing is forbidden, there are no
- 5:11taboos there. Everything is possible,
- 5:13everything is just simple. You live
- 5:15like an animal and get pleasure. But
- 5:17the Manipura chakra? No, even if you
- 5:19don't understand the reasons for the
- 5:21prohibitions, at least you fear
- 5:23external judgment, and you behave
- 5:25decently. And thus, the elevation of
- 5:27the human personality takes place. That
- 5:30is, you move away from those things
- 5:32that truly corrupt the mind. That is,
- 5:35society creates certain frameworks, and
- 5:37due to shame and fear, you follow these
- 5:40frameworks, and gradually a very
- 5:42refined civilization emerges. Actually,
- 5:46we see the pinnacle of civilization in
- 5:49Manipura. That is, good art develops,
- 5:54and music, and a good culture of
- 5:56relationships develops, at the peak of
- 5:58the Manipura chakra's development.
- 6:02There. Well, beyond that, it is a
- 6:04transcendent culture, unknown to us, of
- 6:06a society in which the Anahata chakra
- 6:08would dominate. It simply does not
- 6:10exist on the planet at this moment. But
- 6:14I believe that the more of us there are
- 6:16practicing spirituality, the more we
- 6:18work on ourselves, the more these ideas
- 6:21and behavioral models that correspond
- 6:23to the higher chakras will take root,
- 6:25and the higher our culture will become.
- 6:29Yes. So, the Manipura chakra. Manipura,
- 6:34the city of gems, the fiery center
- 6:36representing intense emotions. There
- 6:39are 10 emotions in this lotus in total.
- 6:4210 petals. The most significant emotion
- 6:48of the Manipura chakra, the defining
- 6:50emotion, is attachment. We experience
- 6:53attachment. We become attached to the
- 6:56objects that are near us. Moreover,
- 6:58attachment is a quality of a fairly
- 7:01developed mind. That is, at the
- 7:03Svadhisthana chakra level, there is no
- 7:05attachment, just pleasure. You get
- 7:07pleasure, you use everyone, and there
- 7:09is no attachment or anything in return.
- 7:11Here, however, when there is attachment
- 7:13, a person is ready to lay down their
- 7:16life, sacrifice themselves, and work
- 7:18for the well-being of others because it
- 7:20means something very, very much to them
- 7:22; it is still a selfish feeling, but it
- 7:24is higher than just getting pleasure in
- 7:26the Svadhisthana chakra. So this
- 7:29attachment means: "The object of my
- 7:31enjoyment is very dear to me, and
- 7:32therefore I will do everything to
- 7:34preserve this object." Yes, that is
- 7:37attachment. We feel attachment to
- 7:40external things. We feel attachment to
- 7:45people, to animals, and to ideas,
- 7:47philosophies, and so on. This is a
- 7:52property of the mind that can manifest
- 7:54at different levels. And this society
- 7:59—we owe a lot to this society; it
- 8:01binds families and communities together
- 8:04. Yes. But at some point, we grow up,
- 8:08we move on, we become more than that.
- 8:12And so we begin to acquire the ability
- 8:14to love right here in the Anahata
- 8:16chakra. And then attachment becomes a
- 8:19very heavy burden. And one must
- 8:21understand that when attachment is
- 8:23formed, we have programmed ourselves
- 8:25for pain. So it is, on one hand, a
- 8:28positive quality when compared to the
- 8:31Svadhisthana chakra, and a negative
- 8:33quality when compared to the Anahata
- 8:35chakra. When you become attached to
- 8:39anything or anyone, you have programmed
- 8:41yourself for pain. I have told this
- 8:45story a few times. Someone gave me a
- 8:48computer. They said, "Yes, you only
- 8:50have one computer, here you go." Well,
- 8:53it was some used MacBook, an Apple
- 8:55computer. I thought, "What is this
- 8:58Apple thing? I don't understand it at
- 9:00all." At first, it just sat there; I
- 9:02didn't want to deal with it, but then I
- 9:04opened it and thought, "Alright, let me
- 9:06finally understand this technology."
- 9:09And then it turns out that, wow, it’s
- 9:11actually really great and convenient to
- 9:13work in this system. So I started to
- 9:15get attached. I think, hmm, now I have
- 9:19my own computer, and one day I was
- 9:21sitting there, and you know, the old
- 9:24versions had a power cord that plugged
- 9:26in, well, securely—not with a magnet,
- 9:29but firmly. And so, when I had become
- 9:34tightly attached to this computer, the
- 9:36power cord wrapped around my leg. I was
- 9:38sitting there working on something, the
- 9:40cord got tangled, and then my friend
- 9:42walked in and said, "Yeah, yeah, I need
- 9:44the keys." Well, I said, "Hold on," I
- 9:46stood up, yanked my leg, and before my
- 9:49eyes, that computer went flying down. I
- 9:51saw it just tumbling down,
- 9:53clack-clack-clack. I just...I pull it
- 9:58out, I look, and it’s not working.
- 10:01The light went out. I press the button,
- 10:03it doesn't work. I open it, close it,
- 10:06it doesn't work. I wipe the screen, it
- 10:09doesn't work. And, well, I realize
- 10:12that's it, that computer is done for.
- 10:17And there's this feeling of inner
- 10:19emptiness, meaning there was something
- 10:20that filled you, and now there’s a
- 10:22void. Oh, my precious, it’s gone,
- 10:26gone forever. That is that feeling. And
- 10:31I tell my friend, I say, "Leave me
- 10:33alone. I’ve decided to stay depressed
- 10:37until evening." I locked myself in my
- 10:40room. We experience this every time we
- 10:43lose an object of attachment. It could
- 10:46be something small, it could be sudden,
- 10:48like how I lost my computer, or it
- 10:50could be gradual, for example, if I
- 10:52became attached to a person. To be
- 10:56attached to a person means that I don't
- 10:58actually love the person. I love the
- 11:01image that I have in my mind. Meaning,
- 11:03I’ve formed some kind of image. That
- 11:06is you, or rather I met you and I liked
- 11:08you. Now, the version of you that I met
- 11:11—that is the one I love. You will
- 11:14change, but for me, those changes are
- 11:17unacceptable, they are painful. I will
- 11:20try to fix you in place, not let you
- 11:22change, and resist your evolution. When
- 11:28you have changed enough that you no
- 11:30longer match the image in my head, I
- 11:32will say, "But that’s not who I fell
- 11:34in love with." Yes, do you see? Girls
- 11:40say: "But that’s not who I fell in
- 11:42love with," or guys say, "That’s not
- 11:44who I fell in love with." And that
- 11:50right there is attachment. And a person
- 11:52experiences—naturally, what do they
- 11:54experience? They experience pain in
- 11:56this process. It hurts me that I had
- 11:58something, something dear, and I lost
- 12:01it. You either lost it bit by bit, or
- 12:05suddenly—for example, a computer
- 12:07broke or my wallet was stolen, I had
- 12:09money, then suddenly it was gone—I
- 12:11feel pain from that. So the result is
- 12:15always pain. If you get attached to
- 12:18something, be prepared that you will
- 12:20suffer. This nagging feeling that also
- 12:22empties the Anahata chakra, and you
- 12:25feel its pain, pain, pain, pain, pain
- 12:27from attachment. Yeah. Well, therefore,
- 12:31for those people who strive upward, it
- 12:34is necessary to try to transform this
- 12:36attachment, to try to feel love, to
- 12:38move from the level of attachment to
- 12:40the level of love here, above the
- 12:42Anahata chakra. What are the signs?
- 12:48Often people fall in love, for example,
- 12:51and it is true that you feel it right
- 12:53in the Anahata chakra, you feel it here
- 12:55, not here and not here, but here. That
- 13:01is, you really don't need anything from
- 13:03the person at all, you just want to
- 13:05love them. That is, you have a truly
- 13:08deep and pure feeling for them. It’s
- 13:11so great, so happy, it’s just
- 13:13fantastic. And you start to get
- 13:17attached to this happiness, to this
- 13:19idea that this is how it should be. And
- 13:23they act this way, express themselves
- 13:25this way, I am charmed by this. And
- 13:27suddenly, the mind slides down from
- 13:29here to here. And you start to have
- 13:32expectations. As soon as the mind
- 13:35slides down to the level of the
- 13:36Manipura chakra, you move from love to
- 13:39attachment, and manipulation begins,
- 13:41because you want exactly what gives you
- 13:43pleasure. That is, you have some kind
- 13:46of image, some expectation that gives
- 13:48you pleasure—a selfish sensation. So
- 13:52you actually don't care about the
- 13:53person, and you try to manipulate them
- 13:55to bring them to that standard. This is
- 13:58how very tense relationships are formed
- 14:00. That is exactly what attachment is.
- 14:04Even at funerals, what do people say: "
- 14:06Who have you left us to?" Yes, that's
- 14:11what they say. It’s not about the
- 14:13person at all. And, in general, I don't
- 14:15feel sorry for the person. Well,
- 14:16they’re gone, they’re gone. I feel
- 14:18sorry for myself. That is, you left me,
- 14:20I am suffering, I am suffering. That is
- 14:23the Manipura chakra. And we wrap all of
- 14:25this in such beautiful ideas about love
- 14:27. For example, a guy is singing, he
- 14:31says: You think: "My God, how can one
- 14:33sing like that?""Yeah. But nevertheless
- 14:36, the person is not ashamed. He sings
- 14:40there that it hurts, it hurts, this
- 14:43evil pain won't go away, yeah. So
- 14:49that's what's called love. Love is
- 14:52dying, right? No, if there is love,
- 14:54then there is no pain at all. That's
- 14:56not true, it doesn't hurt. Attachment
- 14:59is what hurts. And, of course, this is
- 15:02a very, very deep feeling, a very
- 15:04profound feeling. And it is very, very
- 15:07hard to overcome. That is why initially
- 15:12, before you get attached, before this
- 15:14feeling binds you, you need to work on
- 15:16your Manipura chakra and try to stay at
- 15:18the level of love. And even when you
- 15:22are attached, you need to transmute it
- 15:24into love because, look, here is how to
- 15:27transmute it into love. Attachment is
- 15:30selfish. But love, on the contrary, is
- 15:33selfless. Meaning, it gives. And when
- 15:38you start acting from selfishness,
- 15:40moving toward selflessness, you start
- 15:42to serve, you start to care, and think
- 15:45about how to make the other person feel
- 15:47good. That is when this attachment
- 15:50begins to pull away from you. It
- 15:53loosens its claws. And at some point,
- 15:57you will flutter out of those claws and
- 15:59start feeling a truly good emotion
- 16:01right here in the Anahata. There. But
- 16:05one way or another, we are talking
- 16:07about the Manipura chakra now, and this
- 16:09property of attachment is defining for
- 16:11the Manipura chakra. And the higher the
- 16:16degree of attachment, the stronger the
- 16:18other qualities begin to work as well.
- 16:20In general, the energy of emotions in
- 16:22the chakras, it is actually, in essence
- 16:25, one single emotion. It is one single
- 16:28emotion that has several different
- 16:30faces. And it turns this way, or that
- 16:33way. So, the energy is one and the same
- 16:35. Meaning the vibration is the same.
- 16:37Just different faces. There. And, well,
- 16:39different glands produce all these
- 16:41hormones, of course. There. But one way
- 16:43or another, the level is about the same
- 16:45. That is why if one emotion is strong,
- 16:49the others also, how should I say,
- 16:51everything is interconnected. If energy
- 16:55manifests at the Manipura chakra, we
- 16:57see that this emotion becomes strong,
- 16:59and that emotion becomes strong. There.
- 17:02And attachment, for instance, what is
- 17:04the direct emotion stemming from
- 17:06attachment? Fear. Fear. Fear. Have you
- 17:14analyzed what fear is? What is it? What
- 17:17are we afraid of? Afraid of the unknown
- 17:23, of snakes and spiders. Fear is always
- 17:33the fear of losing the object of your
- 17:35attachment. What is fear of the unknown
- 17:37? What if in the future there won't be
- 17:40what gives me pleasure today? What
- 17:42makes me happy today? Yes, that is
- 17:44exactly what fear of the unknown is. If
- 17:46you were told," Yes, it is one hundred
- 17:48percent guaranteed that everything you
- 17:50have, you will have tomorrow, and you
- 17:52will have even more, and it will be
- 17:53even better. "Then that's it, there is
- 17:55no fear. If you know for 100%, then
- 17:58there is no uncertainty. And
- 18:01uncertainty is precisely the fear of
- 18:03losing, and the fear of death is the
- 18:05fear of losing one's body. And this is
- 18:10it, yes, fear stems from attachment.
- 18:13Fear enslaves us very strongly.
- 18:15Therefore, the less attachment a person
- 18:18has, the less they fear. Look at
- 18:20relationships, who manipulates whom.
- 18:25The one who is protected from
- 18:26manipulation is the one who has no fear
- 18:29, right? If you have no fear, how can
- 18:33you be manipulated?" Oh, I'm going to
- 18:36leave you. "" Well, okay, fine, "the
- 18:39manipulation falls apart, it doesn't
- 18:41work. But if there is a strong
- 18:44attachment, then on the basis of this
- 18:46attachment, you can be manipulated. And
- 18:50you try to manipulate too, because you
- 18:52try, but it doesn't work; if the other
- 18:54person isn't attached, you won't
- 18:56succeed in manipulating. So, fear stems
- 19:01from attachment. Next, there is one
- 19:06more property. From attachment arises
- 19:09craving, the desire to possess."
- 19:12Trishna "is what craving is called.
- 19:15Great, for example, well, you didn't
- 19:17want it before. How does advertising
- 19:21work? Advertising triggers an
- 19:24attachment inside you. That is, you
- 19:26constantly come into contact with an
- 19:28object, keep coming into contact, and
- 19:30some kind of connection with it appears
- 19:32. In the end, you start wanting, you
- 19:34become attached to the idea of this
- 19:36object. Now you start wanting it. Now
- 19:38you cannot let it go. I absolutely must
- 19:40watch this movie. I saw the ad for this
- 19:42movie 20 times. I 100%need to watch it.
- 19:45An attachment has been formed. And then
- 19:47, when the attachment is formed, that
- 19:50is when craving arises. Or, let's say,
- 19:52you see this girl constantly, you think
- 19:55:" Oh, she is nice, beautiful. "
- 19:57Gradually, a connection arises for you,
- 20:00an attachment arises. As a result, when
- 20:03the attachment is formed, then a
- 20:05craving for possession also arises. The
- 20:07stronger the attachment, the stronger
- 20:09the craving for possession will be.
- 20:11Trishna in the river. There. And from
- 20:15the craving for possession, a very
- 20:17great suffering arises. If it is not
- 20:19satisfied, this craving for possession,
- 20:21then the person suffers. The Buddha,
- 20:24yes, said that if you get rid of
- 20:26desires, you will get rid of suffering.
- 20:28That is, there is desire, there is
- 20:30suffering. No desire, no suffering. Yes
- 20:34, if a person is attached to alcohol
- 20:36and craves alcohol and doesn't get it,
- 20:38they have suffering. If a person is
- 20:42absolutely indifferent to alcohol,
- 20:44there is no suffering. Get rid of
- 20:46desire. You will get rid of suffering.
- 20:49There. But the foundation is attachment
- 20:51. No, not the inability to form an
- 20:54attachment. Moving on. Disgust. Hatred
- 20:58also depends on attachment. Disgust.
- 21:02Who do you feel more disgust toward?
- 21:07Your relatives or some hypothetical?
- 21:11people living in Africa. Of course, you
- 21:15hate your relatives more. Well, I mean
- 21:17hate. This means that we love our
- 21:20relatives, of course. But on the other
- 21:25hand, if your relative behaves in a way
- 21:28that annoys you, you feel that
- 21:29irritation much more acutely than if a
- 21:31distant person behaved the same way.
- 21:36Right? I mean, if your mother, your
- 21:39wife, or someone like that does it, the
- 21:41reaction will be much more powerful. Oh
- 21:44, distant people, I love everyone, I
- 21:46accept everyone, I am generally
- 21:48spiritual. How spiritual you are will
- 21:51be seen in your family. That is,
- 21:53someone once told me such a phrase. It
- 21:56really impressed me. She said her
- 22:00husband told her:" If you're such a
- 22:02yogi, why are you so angry? "I was
- 22:05really impressed by that phrase. It was
- 22:08just, well, like a bombshell. This can
- 22:11be a direct quote. If you're such a
- 22:14yogi, then why are you so angry? This
- 22:17is where everything is tested. How
- 22:19spiritual we are is tested in our close
- 22:21relationships. That is, those people
- 22:23who surround us, we form an attachment
- 22:25to them. There. And irritation,
- 22:28naturally, arises much more. Irritation
- 22:30is another child of the Manipura chakra
- 22:33. Anger is also in the Manipura chakra.
- 22:35Disgust is located there. Disgust, even
- 22:39using our body as an example, for
- 22:41instance, we are attached to...the
- 22:43closer objects get to our sense of self
- 22:46, the more likely we are to get
- 22:48attached to them. For example, inside
- 22:52our body, here, the tip of the big toe
- 22:54is the point furthest from our" I, "and
- 22:57we are least attached to this point.
- 23:00This point is the closest to our sense
- 23:02of self. And here we are maximally
- 23:05attached to this point. Imagine you
- 23:09bring a match to your leg, and you
- 23:11bring a match here—where are the
- 23:13sensations more unpleasant? Naturally,
- 23:17here. Or, let's say, you went walking
- 23:21through a meadow in summer, got lost in
- 23:23thought, and stepped into something
- 23:25warm. You think," Well, okay, I stepped
- 23:29in it. "You take a stick, clean it off,
- 23:32and keep walking. No big deal. It's all
- 23:36nature; whatever is natural is not ugly
- 23:38. There. But, suppose you were sitting
- 23:41by a campfire and did the same thing,
- 23:43and the same happened—the sensations
- 23:45would be different. If you suddenly did
- 23:48that, it would be a very, very
- 23:50uncomfortable feeling. Everything must
- 23:53be done just so that nothing remains on
- 23:54the face, because the degree of
- 23:56pleasantness here is much higher. See.
- 23:58And the principle is clear, right? That
- 24:00is, this disgust and hatred are also
- 24:03vritti. Disgust, hatred. And this
- 24:06Manipura chakra vritti increases the
- 24:08more attachment there is. See. And the
- 24:13more you interact, I mean, we can be
- 24:14attached to something positively, we
- 24:16can be attached to something negatively
- 24:18. Positively means the object of
- 24:20attachment evokes positive feelings in
- 24:22you. And negatively means the object of
- 24:26attachment evokes negative emotions in
- 24:28you. But one way or another, you still,
- 24:31for example, someone likes to criticize
- 24:34, and they specifically find objects
- 24:36that they will criticize. Well, if you
- 24:38don't like it, just don't watch. No,
- 24:40they can't live without it, because
- 24:42they are attached to it. See. But they
- 24:44have a negative attitude toward it,
- 24:46right? That is, if there were a
- 24:47positive attitude there. That means I'm
- 24:50getting pleasure. Here, I am also
- 24:52getting a kind of pleasure, but with a
- 24:54minus sign. I hate this, I get pleasure
- 24:57from the hatred. Is it clear how it
- 25:00works? And we also have shame in the
- 25:04Manipura chakra. Fear. Shame. And what
- 25:08about shame? And if we experience fear,
- 25:10what does it throw you into? Heat or
- 25:12cold? It throws you into the cold. You
- 25:16start to shake. The digestive system.
- 25:20If you experience fear, the digestive
- 25:22system stops, and you can run, and
- 25:25everything is released, yes, the bowels
- 25:27. See. And shame throws you into a heat
- 25:32, your face turns red. Also an
- 25:34imbalance of the Manipura chakra, right
- 25:36? Remember, it is connected with fire
- 25:38for us, with the heat of our body.
- 25:42Shame does not allow you to act. Such a
- 25:45hot emotion. Once, I remember, I was
- 25:50conducting a training for yoga
- 25:52instructors. See. And I said:" Okay,
- 25:56give a lecture. "I watch and listen to
- 25:58how a person practices their oratorical
- 26:01skills. And she says:" I can't, really.
- 26:05"I say:" Why can't you? "She says:" I
- 26:08can't, there's some kind of block. "
- 26:10This block is shame in the Manipura.
- 26:12And it just stops you. You can't do
- 26:15something. On one hand, it is a
- 26:18positive emotion, because due to shame
- 26:20we don't do antisocial things. Because
- 26:23of fear and because of shame. Right? If
- 26:25there were no fear, if there were no
- 26:27shame, this society would be one solid
- 26:29society of thugs. Yes, that is the
- 26:32Svadhishthana chakra, savages of
- 26:34society. Here, because of shame and
- 26:36fear, we are civilized people. Right.
- 26:39But at a further stage of development,
- 26:41both shame and fear become a hindrance,
- 26:44because at that stage, your conscience
- 26:46has already developed here in the
- 26:48Anahata chakra. And when conscience is
- 26:51developed, shame doesn't help; it gets
- 26:53in the way of that conscience. So, what
- 26:56is shame exactly? Shame is like Vaska
- 26:58the cat. Vaska the cat, you know, Vaska
- 27:01the cat. You come home, and he’s
- 27:03sitting on your table eating sour cream
- 27:05. And you say to him:" Vasya, how could
- 27:08you? You betrayed me. I trusted you to
- 27:13guard the house, and you go and devour
- 27:15my sour cream. "If you scold Vaska, he
- 27:18will react. He will crawl under the bed
- 27:21and stay there. When you glare at him
- 27:23with fiery eyes, he immediately reacts.
- 27:26He feels shame, this cat really feels
- 27:28ashamed. That's because warm-blooded
- 27:30creatures have a Manipura chakra. Vaska
- 27:32feels ashamed. He lowers his eyes. You
- 27:35have surely seen this in pets. But as
- 27:37soon as you go out, Vasya forgets
- 27:39everything immediately. As soon as
- 27:41there’s no pressure, he’ll climb
- 27:42back on the table and eat the sour
- 27:44cream again. That's it. Meaning, he has
- 27:46no conscience, but he feels ashamed
- 27:48externally. So, when there is external
- 27:51pressure or influence, you feel ashamed
- 27:53. Right. But sometimes you feel your
- 27:56conscience inside, knowing that doing a
- 27:58certain thing would be right, yet you
- 28:00are afraid to do it. That is, you feel
- 28:04shame because you wonder what people
- 28:06will think or say about you; even if
- 28:08it's the right action, they might think
- 28:11you're foolish or inappropriate, so you
- 28:13think:" Oh, I won't do that. "Right.
- 28:16And it often happens that shame stops
- 28:19some truly genuine, powerful, good
- 28:21things. Who do we value? Who do we like
- 28:24? We like people who are spontaneous.
- 28:28Meaning, a creative impulse is born
- 28:30inside them. And they express
- 28:32themselves. They express themselves
- 28:34very innocently, very beautifully, very
- 28:36spontaneously. And we watch, and we
- 28:38applaud them inwardly. We say:" Wow, I
- 28:40wish I could do that too, but I have a
- 28:43block. "There are people who have no
- 28:45problem singing, dancing, and so on.
- 28:47Right? We like them for it, but when I
- 28:50try to sing or dance, I have this block
- 28:52inside my Manipura chakra that won't
- 28:54let me. Right. And so, people who are
- 28:57full of shame, they are all so correct,
- 29:00but so boring. And people who have
- 29:04overcome their shame, broken through
- 29:06their shame, and risen here above to
- 29:08the Anahata chakra, they are simply a
- 29:10sight to behold, yes, these people.
- 29:12There. And so, shame and conscience are
- 29:14in conflict for them. That is, in
- 29:17relation to the shamelessness that is
- 29:19located in our Svadhishthana chakra,
- 29:21this is so-called negative
- 29:23shamelessness, right? That is, simply
- 29:25having no shame or conscience. What is
- 29:28called shame in the Manipura chakra is
- 29:30progress. But in relation to conscience
- 29:34, which is located in the Anahata
- 29:36chakra, shame is an obstacle. So, a
- 29:41yogi needs to strive to be positively
- 29:43shameless and have a good understanding
- 29:45of what is good and what is bad, that
- 29:48is, a good conscience. That is all
- 29:53about shame. And next, here there is
- 29:59Paishunya. Paishunya means a demonic
- 30:04trait, a desire to cause harm to others
- 30:07. Sadism, revenge, vengefulness. All of
- 30:13this is Paishunya. You scratch my back,
- 30:16I scratch yours, an eye for an eye, a
- 30:18tooth for a tooth. Again, in relation
- 30:24to the Svadhishthana chakra, where you
- 30:26just laugh and giggle, drift along, and
- 30:29take no adequate measures regarding
- 30:31injustice. Just as long as it is
- 30:34comfortable. You are an opportunist.
- 30:36Not here. There is a principle. A tooth
- 30:38for a tooth, an eye for an eye. The
- 30:40principle of the inevitability of
- 30:42punishment. This was very important for
- 30:44society to develop. I mean, otherwise,
- 30:46human life would be worth nothing if
- 30:49there were no retribution, right? So,
- 30:52in relation to the Svadhishthana chakra
- 30:54, this is positive, that is, it is a
- 30:57breakthrough. But in relation to the
- 30:59Anahata chakra, it is a very flawed
- 31:01thing. And so we say that inside each
- 31:03of us, this sadism exists. Actually, if
- 31:07you look closely, you will find it. Yes
- 31:10, you did something unjust, but God
- 31:13sees everything. That means a person is
- 31:15speaking in veiled language, or they
- 31:17say," The world is round, you'll get
- 31:19what's coming to you. "They say," When
- 31:21things go bad for you, that’s when
- 31:23there will be a holiday on my street, I
- 31:25will be happy. "Meaning, I will rejoice
- 31:28when I would like God to show you there
- 31:30. Let it be like that for you. What is
- 31:33this? This is nothing other than a
- 31:35manifestation of vengefulness. This is
- 31:37a manifestation of this malice of yours
- 31:39. If you analyze it, it’s there; the
- 31:42desire to take revenge is there, maybe
- 31:44not to take revenge physically, but for
- 31:46the person to understand what’s what,
- 31:48right? So, this is inside us. Right.
- 31:53And because of this, we constantly
- 31:55violate the principles of Ahimsa. The
- 31:57Yama and Niyama. The moral principles
- 31:59of yoga. This is a set of principles
- 32:01designed to keep you at least at the
- 32:03level of the Anahata chakra. Not to
- 32:06fall, right? If you take—So, this
- 32:13message, the Christian message found in
- 32:15the New Testament, what is it really?
- 32:18It is truly a transition from the
- 32:20Manipura chakra level, an eye for an
- 32:23eye, a tooth for a tooth, to the
- 32:25Anahata chakra level. I’m not saying
- 32:27that society should abolish systems of
- 32:29punishment and retribution, no. But
- 32:32it’s about an internal transformation
- 32:34, like when Christ said that if you are
- 32:36struck on one cheek, turn the other.
- 32:40This doesn’t mean you should simply
- 32:42submit to evil or allow the
- 32:44permissiveness of the Svadhisthana
- 32:46chakra and this barbaric society to
- 32:48flourish. No, barbaric force must be
- 32:51controlled by civilized power. But
- 32:56internally, I will not have the desire
- 32:58to cause harm, I won't. I will want
- 33:02what is good for the other person.
- 33:05These are different chakras, different
- 33:07levels. Yes. So, benevolence is here,
- 33:10while vengefulness is here. This is
- 33:12like some kind of mechanical system.
- 33:14It’s based on the fact that you want
- 33:16to take revenge or feel a sense of
- 33:18disgust. If you have, for instance,
- 33:20disgust, that is a positive emotion in
- 33:22relation to the Svadhisthana chakra.
- 33:25You won't let your home get dirty or
- 33:26allow anything unhygienic there. You
- 33:29just feel unpleasant, it makes you
- 33:32cringe, you feel disgust, and that is
- 33:34positive. Exactly. But compared to the
- 33:37Anahata chakra, it is negative, because
- 33:39you have disgust, and you aren't acting
- 33:42out of love, you act out of disgust.
- 33:45Some people start practicing yoga out
- 33:47of disgust, too. I hate myself, I’m
- 33:50unpleasant to myself, so I want to
- 33:52change myself to become pleasant to
- 33:54myself. That is not out of love. It’s
- 33:57a very stressful approach, a very
- 33:59painful approach. Here, it’s
- 34:02completely different. And true progress
- 34:06is achieved here, because spiritual
- 34:08practice, deep spiritual practice,
- 34:10begins from the higher centers in a
- 34:12state of goodness. Like that. Sadism—
- 34:19causing harm to others, or pain, or
- 34:22retribution. This also includes all
- 34:27sorts of jokes, teasing, trying to
- 34:29sting someone, feeling that the other
- 34:31person felt pain. Uh. Envy, envy is
- 34:41also a very, very strong feeling. To
- 34:45envy. There was an incident in a
- 34:48village. Well, I lived in a village for
- 34:51a time. Yes. And two neighbors didn't
- 34:54like each other, one in particular. And
- 34:58they had a conflict based on the fact
- 35:00that one grew good tomatoes, and the
- 35:01other didn't. They try to grow these
- 35:07tomatoes as if they were for an
- 35:09exhibition of achievements. And one has
- 35:13them growing, while the other doesn't.
- 35:16And so one woman, she was angry, she
- 35:18was angry, and one day she got ready,
- 35:20went, that is, in this burst of envy,
- 35:23she went and poisoned her neighbor's
- 35:25pig. That is, such burning envy that I
- 35:29can no longer tolerate the successes of
- 35:32this, uh...Of this person, yes, and the
- 35:37person acts. Meaning envy is also at a
- 35:40level where, compared to the
- 35:42Swadhisthana chakra, where there is
- 35:44aimlessness and just receiving pleasure
- 35:46—that is, an absolutely meaningless
- 35:49existence. Compared to that, this is a
- 35:52positive quality, because when you are
- 35:54envious, you want to be first, I want
- 35:56to be first, forward, forward, I
- 35:58absolutely need to get ahead, more,
- 36:00further, stronger, and so on. This is,
- 36:02actually, well, well, positive. Yes.
- 36:05But here, uh, here there are much
- 36:07sweeter emotions. You cannot experience
- 36:10them. That is, if in the Anahata chakra
- 36:12there is this soulfulness, there is
- 36:14love, there is openness, then here you
- 36:16will never be able to reach that,
- 36:18because you are always envious, you are
- 36:20always rivaling, always competing. That
- 36:23is why, if you relate it to the Anahata
- 36:25chakra, it will be a negative trait.
- 36:30Yes. That is, envy, envy. Next we have
- 36:36kashaya—that is irritability.
- 36:39Irritability. Mmm, irritability
- 36:42generates stress very strongly. It is
- 36:46directly linked to the emotion of
- 36:47stress. Mmm, I look at you and you
- 36:52irritate me. Yes, that is what
- 36:55irritability is. Oh, many, many
- 36:57different little wires, some threads.
- 37:00Ah, yes, these situations in life,
- 37:03nothing is working out. Irritability,
- 37:06or when a person is stuck in traffic.
- 37:09Uh, you know, drivers, they sometimes
- 37:11express their irritability that way. We
- 37:13are not going to judge. I once saw, uh,
- 37:15I was riding on a bus and I look, a car
- 37:18stopped. A man gets out of the car,
- 37:20that is, the driver from the car, and
- 37:22there is a pedestrian, uh, who did
- 37:23something wrong, violated something.
- 37:25The driver gets out and with a right
- 37:27hand sends him into a knockout. The
- 37:28pedestrian didn't say a word, not half
- 37:30a word. Just bang. I was, well, my eyes
- 37:33popped out of my head. I think, well,
- 37:35how can that be? Is this even possible?
- 37:37Yes. And this is what irritability is.
- 37:39Meaning such an impulse that sets you
- 37:41on fire from within. And we experience
- 37:45stress. Stress is a very destructive
- 37:47emotion, yes, this irritability, these
- 37:49are very destructive emotions. And
- 37:52there is an interesting description.
- 37:55Doctors who deal with cardiovascular
- 37:57problems give a characterization of a
- 37:59person who is psychologically, well,
- 38:01called a type A person. This person
- 38:05will most likely develop cardiovascular
- 38:07diseases. That is, by these emotions,
- 38:10one can identify your potential client,
- 38:13your, uh, patient. Yes. And they say:"
- 38:17He is hostile, angry, impatient,
- 38:19fearful, and has digestive problems. "
- 38:23That is, exactly, because digestion is
- 38:26controlled by the Manipura chakra.
- 38:28There you go. And we are talking about
- 38:30a person whose Manipura chakra emotions
- 38:33are completely unbalanced. So, what
- 38:36happens to us? There is such a thing as
- 38:38a stress reaction. Stress comes from
- 38:41the distant, distant past. When we
- 38:44encounter a situation, a dangerous
- 38:46situation, we need to mobilize. To
- 38:50mobilize, the fight-or-flight response
- 38:52kicks in. Now, at the level of the
- 38:55Svadhishthana chakra, there is also
- 38:57fear, remember? The fear of death. But
- 38:59it will drive you into a stupor. I mean
- 39:01, if a fire breaks out, where do you
- 39:02look for a person dominated by the
- 39:04Svadhishthana chakra? You have to look
- 39:06for them in the closet. They are
- 39:07sitting there curled up, unable to move
- 39:09a muscle. But if a fire breaks out,
- 39:11where do you look for a person
- 39:13dominated by the Manipura chakra? They
- 39:15are already far away; they've run off,
- 39:17are sitting up in a pine tree watching,
- 39:19and don't even know how they climbed up
- 39:21there. Basically, they switched on,
- 39:23adrenaline started releasing from their
- 39:25adrenal glands, and they gained immense
- 39:27physical strength. You know those
- 39:31stories where a grandmother got scared,
- 39:33ran out because a child was under the
- 39:35wheels, and she lifted the bus with one
- 39:37hand to pull the child out. And no one
- 39:40can understand how that happened. So,
- 39:42that release of adrenaline provides
- 39:45colossal physical energy. This is
- 39:47actually a defense mechanism for
- 39:49getting out of a stressful situation.
- 39:51Right. But times have changed. Because
- 39:55if you used to experience stress when
- 39:58you met a mammoth in the woods, and you
- 40:00would jump, carry a massive rock, bash
- 40:03that mammoth, bash, bash, finally take
- 40:05it down, and drag it by the trunk back
- 40:07to your cave—and then you would relax
- 40:10and have absolutely no stress—now
- 40:12that doesn't happen. Now we have stress
- 40:16every single day. It’s like when your
- 40:19boss frowns at work. You didn't talk
- 40:22back to the boss, because you aren't
- 40:24supposed to. The boss might have been
- 40:26wrong, but they are always the boss.
- 40:28Right. And you kept that inside
- 40:30yourself as tension. So, adrenaline was
- 40:34released, you didn't burn it off, then
- 40:36you sat in traffic, then you waited for
- 40:39the elevator, then you couldn't get
- 40:41tickets at the box office, and on and
- 40:43on, and you kept accumulating this
- 40:45tension. Eventually, the system crashes
- 40:49. Because if that tension kept building
- 40:52up and up with no outlet. And what
- 40:55could the outlet be? For example,
- 40:57sports—running or jumping—to burn
- 40:59off that adrenaline through physical
- 41:01activity. You didn't have a choice.
- 41:05Then, where things are weakest, they
- 41:08break—cardiovascular diseases,
- 41:10stomach ulcers, digestive system
- 41:12problems. In the case of cardiovascular
- 41:16issues, what exactly is happening with
- 41:19these diseases? Well. Usually, this is
- 41:23also accompanied by greed—eating a
- 41:25lot of food, fatty things, and so on.
- 41:28So, this is a Manipura chakra problem.
- 41:34And since the vessels are clogged with
- 41:36cholesterol—meaning they are narrow
- 41:38—and you have constant high blood
- 41:40pressure because you have too much
- 41:42adrenaline, it’s a sure path to
- 41:44cardiovascular disease. So, at some
- 41:50point, it just goes" bang "—a heart
- 41:52attack or a stroke. And this is, in
- 41:54fact, a problem of the Manipura chakra.
- 41:57It is the number one killer in the
- 41:58world. It’s not war that is the
- 42:00number one killer. The number one
- 42:02killer is heart attacks and strokes.
- 42:04And they arise from constant stress.
- 42:06Meaning the inability to control your
- 42:08Manipura chakra. A person lives in
- 42:10tension. Touch them here—it’s
- 42:12become like steel, like wood. The whole
- 42:15body, all their muscles are wooden.
- 42:17What does that mean? It means that a
- 42:19hormone is present. It tenses the
- 42:21muscles. So, what is the effect of
- 42:23adrenaline? Muscles tighten, teeth
- 42:27clench, the heart starts beating faster
- 42:29, blood pressure rises, breathing
- 42:32quickens, digestion stops. There you
- 42:35have the signs of stress. That’s how
- 42:37it happens. And in the end, it turns
- 42:40into illness. That’s why people are
- 42:43trying—we have this culture now—to
- 42:45find ways to relax. And how do people
- 42:48relax? They consume alcohol, um, well,
- 42:50they do things like that. But in the
- 42:53end, if you look into it, that actually
- 42:55increases stress even more, right?
- 42:56Alcohol is a poison. And ultimately, it
- 42:59destabilizes your Svadhishthana chakra,
- 43:01your Manipura chakra, and every other
- 43:04chakra possible; it destabilizes and
- 43:06drains your energy, leading to
- 43:08hangovers, headaches, and in the end,
- 43:10the stress just increases, and
- 43:12increases, and increases. And that’s
- 43:14why you sometimes see people. It’s
- 43:16even written on their face—the face,
- 43:19the expression is not relaxed; there is
- 43:21no kind, benevolent, soft energy there.
- 43:25It’s just…the face is tense, the
- 43:27muscles. And why is it tense? Because
- 43:30they can’t relax. I have students in
- 43:33my yoga class, and you say," Alright,
- 43:36now let’s lie down and relax. "And
- 43:38they say," Yeah, yeah, I don’t
- 43:40understand what it means to relax. "" I
- 43:42just can't. "They lie there in a pose.
- 43:44Well, like a log. The person is just
- 43:46that tense. They say," I just can't
- 43:48relax. "And why can’t you relax?
- 43:50Because the hormone won't let you relax
- 43:52. The hormone tenses your muscles, and
- 43:55you end up in this state of numbness.
- 43:57This is a very, very dangerous state.
- 44:00That is, this state is fraught with
- 44:02physical problems. So, you need to
- 44:05learn how to relax. I will speak now, I
- 44:07will finish the story about emotions. I
- 44:09will talk about what needs to be done
- 44:11to take control of the Manipura chakra.
- 44:14And, in particular, in order to relax.
- 44:19And then we have...And two more
- 44:25interesting vrittis, they are, so to
- 44:27speak, the opposite, a lack of Manipura
- 44:30chakra energy, which is melancholy.
- 44:33Melancholy is, well, like, I don't want
- 44:35to live, I don't want to live. I was
- 44:39listening to a song on the radio, and
- 44:42it had the words:" Nobody, nobody's...
- 44:44""...for me. "And it means:" Everyone,
- 44:51everyone, everyone, everyone, everyone,
- 44:53everyone, everyone, everyone, everyone
- 44:56doesn't care about me. "And this
- 44:58feeling of disappointment in life, why
- 45:00does this world exist? Everything is
- 45:02bad, there is no point in anything.
- 45:04This is also, by the way, a
- 45:05prerequisite for a kind of spirituality
- 45:07. That is, you've become disappointed
- 45:09in everything, the Manipura chakra,
- 45:10that's it, it means you need to move on
- 45:12here to the Anahata chakra. But the
- 45:13problem is that this state completely
- 45:15drains your strength. Why? What is the
- 45:18point? What is the point of going
- 45:20anywhere? What is the point of
- 45:21competing with someone? What is the
- 45:23point of achieving something?
- 45:24Everything is vanity, everything is
- 45:26meaningless, right? This is exactly
- 45:28what not wanting to live is. Melancholy
- 45:31is a Manipura chakra problem. And there
- 45:35is also Sushupti. Sushupti means
- 45:38laziness, lethargy, static nature.
- 45:41Sitting idle and not moving anywhere.
- 45:45Saving energy. Staying in energy-saving
- 45:49mode. This is the portrait of the
- 45:51Manipura chakra. That is, such a
- 45:56spiteful, competitive, irritable one,
- 45:58causing pain to other people, getting
- 46:01attached, experiencing strong feelings
- 46:03of attachment, and calling it love at
- 46:06the same time. This is it, and this is
- 46:10us. That is, we spend a lot of time, a
- 46:14lot of energy at the Manipura chakra
- 46:16level. A great many people actually
- 46:19suffer from Manipura chakra problems.
- 46:21Our main problems of human psyche, our
- 46:24emotions, psychology, are problems of
- 46:26the Swadhisthana chakra and Manipura
- 46:29chakra. Master these two chakras, and
- 46:32you will become an extraordinary person
- 46:34. That is, in our time, you already
- 46:36become an extraordinary person, a
- 46:38special person. People will say:" Wow!
- 46:41"Because you are, well, sort of special
- 46:43. Indeed, you are special. You have no
- 46:45fear, and you have no malice whatsoever
- 46:48. You are both kind and courageous.
- 46:50Well, in general, a hero. An all-around
- 46:52hero. And so the first phase of
- 46:57spiritual practice mainly implies, well
- 46:59, the struggle to subdue, to gain
- 47:01control over these lower centers. You
- 47:06have mastered them, which means you are
- 47:08no longer just human, you are, in fact,
- 47:10a superhuman. And then, because your
- 47:13emotions are already manifesting here
- 47:15and here, in the higher centers. You
- 47:17behave in a very, very special way. Our
- 47:22master used to tell us:" You must not
- 47:24allow yourselves to remain in the lower
- 47:26centers. At the very least, you must
- 47:31never allow your mind to fall below the
- 47:33Anahata chakra. In other words, the
- 47:36Anahata chakra is the absolute minimum,
- 47:38the final limit you can afford. You
- 47:41were born in a human body; be worthy of
- 47:43this human body. "That is a
- 47:46characteristic of animals. We are not
- 47:48animals; we are humans. A human is not
- 47:51a rational animal. If a human were a
- 47:53rational animal, then an animal would
- 47:55be a moving vegetable or a moving plant
- 47:57. No, we are living beings, but we are
- 47:59not rational animals; we are humans.
- 48:02And completely different emotions befit
- 48:04us. And so, when you allow animalistic
- 48:08emotions to work within you, they
- 48:10destroy you. When you sustain human
- 48:15emotions—I will talk about the
- 48:17Anahata chakra and you will understand
- 48:19—they, on the contrary, support you;
- 48:22they give you good health, good energy,
- 48:24and a very powerful personality. That
- 48:29is why you must make a great effort to
- 48:31curb the Manipura chakra. Now I will
- 48:33list the techniques. What can be done
- 48:36to strengthen the Manipura chakra?
- 48:44First, regarding the Manipura chakra,
- 48:46it starts with proper nutrition: eating
- 48:49correctly and not consuming food—as I
- 48:51mentioned for the Swadhisthana chakra
- 48:53—that stimulates crude energy within
- 48:56us. That means giving up meat, fish,
- 48:59eggs, onions, garlic, mushrooms,
- 49:01alcohol, and tobacco. Also, use less of
- 49:05the food that stimulates the energy of
- 49:07the Manipura chakra. This includes
- 49:10coffee, tea, and carbonated drinks—
- 49:13yes, Rajas. The principle of dynamic
- 49:16food. Proper nutrition and a balanced
- 49:19diet mean so much for the balance of
- 49:21the Manipura chakra. I will soon
- 49:26release a nutrition course, where I
- 49:27will give several lectures explaining
- 49:29the basic principles of how to eat
- 49:31properly and hold a few cooking classes
- 49:33. So stay tuned, it will be about good
- 49:37nutrition. Second, the practice of
- 49:40fasting. The practice of fasting
- 49:43cleanses the digestive system very
- 49:44effectively. The intestines, the
- 49:47stomach, the liver, the kidneys—
- 49:49everything gets cleaned out. And this
- 49:51clean system, to which you have given a
- 49:53rest. If you have fasted, your toxins
- 49:56have been eliminated and your system [
- 49:58has recovered]. Imagine if you had
- 50:01lived for 20 years without a single day
- 50:04off; that is roughly how your liver,
- 50:06intestines, and stomach feel. And so,
- 50:10when we fast regularly twice a month—
- 50:13or even four times a month, as some
- 50:15people like to do—it turns out you're
- 50:17giving your digestive system a
- 50:19well-deserved break. We fast without
- 50:23food and without water. Those who are
- 50:26healthy, and those for whom dry fasting
- 50:28is contraindicated due to health
- 50:30conditions, especially kidney problems,
- 50:32these people fast with water. If they
- 50:35can't fast with water, then they do it
- 50:37on juices. If they can't fast on juices
- 50:39, then on fruits. If they can't fast on
- 50:41fruits, then at least remove grains and
- 50:44legumes from their diet. So, fasting is
- 50:47also a very, very powerful practice for
- 50:50developing this Manipura chakra of ours
- 50:52. Third. Hardening. Hardening by taking
- 50:57a cold shower. The Manipura chakra is
- 51:00responsible for fire, after all. And
- 51:02this practice of hardening sustains
- 51:04this fire. And accordingly, if you
- 51:06harden yourself, you develop other
- 51:09qualities of the Manipura chakra; you
- 51:11become more fearless, calmer, and so on
- 51:13. It also develops positively. The
- 51:15practice of hardening. Next is physical
- 51:18education and sports. Physical
- 51:20education and sports burn off
- 51:21adrenaline, and you calm down. You also
- 51:24become more balanced. Next is the
- 51:28practice of relaxation. Relaxation.
- 51:32Lying in the corpse pose and relaxing.
- 51:35That is, you relax yourself from your
- 51:37big toes to the crown of your head.
- 51:39This is a very interesting practice
- 51:41because it triggers the so-called
- 51:43relaxation response. And the brain
- 51:46begins to release not stress hormones,
- 51:48but rather relaxing ones. And when this
- 51:52has happened—that is, the brain's
- 51:54mind has switched from stress mode to
- 51:57relaxation mode, and the hormones have
- 51:59been received—you stay in a more even
- 52:01, relaxed state all day long. It's also
- 52:05important not to over-relax, because a
- 52:07certain amount of stress—a certain
- 52:10amount of this motivation and
- 52:11stimulation in life—is important. If
- 52:15you just go totally limp, that's not
- 52:17good either. There was a guy, what was
- 52:21his name? The doctor's miraculous cure.
- 52:26Hmm, okay, I don't remember right now.
- 52:29Well, that's not important. In general,
- 52:31there was a doctor who had miraculous
- 52:33cures. He took patients with
- 52:36cardiovascular diseases who could only
- 52:38be helped by surgery. And he prescribed
- 52:43them these three important things. He
- 52:47had them do meditation to remove stress
- 52:50, asanas for physical exercise, and a
- 52:52vegetarian diet. These are the pillars,
- 52:56yes, of yogic practice. And his
- 52:58patients recovered. So, this simple
- 53:01regimen cleared the blockages in his
- 53:03patients 'vessels. And because of that,
- 53:05other doctors just shrugged their
- 53:07shoulders. They said," Well, we can't
- 53:09explain this from the perspective of
- 53:11medical science. "And they called it
- 53:12the miraculous healing of Dr. Spencer,
- 53:15I think. Yes. That miraculous cure.
- 53:20Naturally, your adrenaline level drops,
- 53:22you relax, and well, your health
- 53:24improves significantly. That's why this
- 53:27relaxation, the Savasana practice, I
- 53:29will also record and dictate it. I will
- 53:32speak with my voice:" Relax this, relax
- 53:34this, relax this. "And it will
- 53:37significantly improve our condition.
- 53:40That's Savasana. Yes. Well, and, yes, I
- 53:47think that's it. And the asanas remain.
- 53:51That is, the asanas for the Manipura
- 53:53chakra. I'll show them sitting now,
- 53:56then standing. Actually, not sitting,
- 54:00but like this. The first asana is
- 54:05called Mayurasana. Yes. Although, you
- 54:16know what, I won't show them to you,
- 54:18I'll just name them. Check my" Asanas "
- 54:21playlist. These are Mayurasana, Peacock
- 54:27pose, Chakrasana, Wheel pose Navasana.
- 54:34Boat pose Kurmasana, Tortoise pose,
- 54:42Padahastasana, Hand-to-foot pose, Utkat
- 54:44Paschimottanasana, Seated forward fold,
- 54:47Matsyendrasana, twist—these are all
- 54:50asanas that have a very beneficial
- 54:52effect on the Manipura chakra. Partly,
- 54:58Cobra also affects the Manipura chakra.
- 55:00Yes. And I'll also show what isn't in
- 55:03my playlist yet, what we haven't
- 55:05recorded—well, it will appear later
- 55:07too. It's called Agnisara mudra.
- 55:10Agnisara mudra or the fire gesture.
- 55:12It's done like this. An exhale is
- 55:14performed, see? Right? I press inward,
- 55:26and the internal organs scatter
- 55:28wherever they can." Every man for
- 55:30himself, "so to speak. It's called. And
- 55:32it gives a very good massage to our
- 55:34digestive system. And there is also,
- 55:36well, I'll show it sitting. It's
- 55:38usually done standing like this. It's
- 55:40sometimes done sitting too. Like this.
- 55:43Sitting, it's called Upavistha Uddiyana
- 55:45mudra. And standing, just Uddiyana
- 55:47mudra. Like this. Or they call it a
- 55:49bandha. Uddiyana bandha. See, I pulled
- 55:57my stomach in. These are the kinds of
- 56:01exercises. They provide a massage, work
- 56:04the area, remove blocks, and restore
- 56:06blood circulation in the digestive
- 56:08sphere. And most importantly, they act
- 56:11on the glands located in the Manipura
- 56:13chakra area. And in this way, they
- 56:16balance the emotions of the Manipura
- 56:18chakra. So, on a physical level, it
- 56:21provides a lot. It balanced things on
- 56:23the physical level. I remember one day
- 56:25I had a very, very stressful situation,
- 56:27and it got to the point where I wanted
- 56:29to grab the phone and just throw it at
- 56:32the wall. That kind of irritation. I
- 56:34thought," What's going on, am I a yogi
- 56:36or not? "And I started doing Chakrasana
- 56:38—well, the Wheel pose or bridge, as
- 56:40we call it. And then, the forward fold.
- 56:43Just 3 days. After 3 days, I was as fit
- 56:45as a fiddle; no stress, nothing,
- 56:47everything calm, excellent self-control
- 56:49. So, on a physical level, the stress
- 56:51was eliminated and resolved. Yes. Well,
- 56:54the breathing exercise is called"
- 56:56Agnisara mudra. "Focus here and imagine
- 56:58inhaling prana, the life force, during
- 57:01the inhalation into the manipura chakra
- 57:03. And as we exhale, we release it. It
- 57:06is done lying down. It is also
- 57:08performed in the morning. This agni and
- 57:11pranayama is prescribed in special
- 57:14cases, this pranayama with
- 57:15concentration on the manipura chakra.
- 57:18Ah, yes, yes. This is basically all
- 57:27correct nutrition, hardening, fasting,
- 57:30relaxation, breathing into the manipura
- 57:33chakra, asanas, and pranayama into the
- 57:35manipura chakra. I am missing something
- 57:42else. Ah, and of course, the most
- 57:44important thing is meditation on the
- 57:46chakras, but only in the case of
- 57:48personal meditation lessons. This is
- 57:51the most powerful thing, it is what
- 57:53truly develops you on a mental and
- 57:55spiritual level. And this development
- 57:57then trickles down to the physical
- 57:59level. So we are approaching it from
- 58:01two sides, right? And I forgot to say,
- 58:03a very, very important thing, but it is
- 58:05for all chakras and can always be a
- 58:07solution to all problems. That is,
- 58:09meditation. When you meditate, stress
- 58:12dissipates. People sometimes come, they
- 58:15start meditating, and you hear them
- 58:17after 5 minutes, what happened? They
- 58:23say:" Yes, yes, I keep falling asleep.
- 58:26What is happening to me? "I say:" Well,
- 58:29my dear, you have simply relaxed for
- 58:31the first time. "This is when a person
- 58:35sits down and the magic of meditation
- 58:37begins to work. Their muscles start to
- 58:40relax, and their brain begins to
- 58:42release relaxing hormones. And all the
- 58:45fatigue that has accumulated, which the
- 58:47person did not even notice due to
- 58:48stress hormones, has been ignored. They
- 58:52walk around like a log with bulging
- 58:54eyes, and their body is crying out for
- 58:56help, but they ignore it. But here,
- 59:01when you meditate, that won't happen
- 59:03because there is a balance of
- 59:04relaxation and tension. And if there is
- 59:07fatigue, it comes out, you fall asleep.
- 59:10This is a positive moment. Right. So,
- 59:12as a relaxation practice, meditation is
- 59:15also very, very important. So, you need
- 59:17to practice meditation. Therefore,
- 59:20those who practice meditation and yoga
- 59:22are usually, well, without bad habits.
- 59:27Not just because bad habits are harmful
- 59:29, but because bad habits are not needed
- 59:31for a yogi. Since there is no tension,
- 59:35there is nothing to release. So, there
- 59:39is no need for alcohol, cigarettes, or
- 59:42anything else. That is why a very
- 59:46effective method for treating all these
- 59:48different addictions is spiritual
- 59:49practice. This is actually the only
- 59:53method of healing, because even
- 59:55Alcoholics Anonymous say:" Alcoholism
- 59:57is incurable. "No, it is curable. It
- 1:00:00isn't cured easily, because it's a
- 1:00:02problem with the svadhishthana chakra.
- 1:00:05It is a long-term effort, long-term
- 1:00:07sadhana, long-term practice. But it is
- 1:00:10curable, and then it goes away without
- 1:00:12a trace forever. Bye-bye. That's how it
- 1:00:15is. So, I think we learned important
- 1:00:20things today. And if you have any
- 1:00:24questions, write them in the comments,
- 1:00:26and I will answer. Right. And you can
- 1:00:28also tell your friends. Because I think
- 1:00:32many will recognize themselves in this
- 1:00:33video with these emotions and recognize
- 1:00:38their acquaintances. Right. Yes,
- 1:00:40because we are all like that. It
- 1:00:42doesn't matter, whether you are a saint
- 1:00:44or the most fallen, corrupt person. I
- 1:00:47mean, everyone's chakras are the same.
- 1:00:49The only difference is that some people
- 1:00:51control these chakras, and others don't
- 1:00:53. Some people control these emotions,
- 1:00:55and others don't. And gradually, any
- 1:00:58person at all can be brought into a
- 1:01:00good state through yoga practice,
- 1:01:02turning them into a good, wonderful
- 1:01:04person who is useful to society and
- 1:01:06happy themselves. Right. Well, on that
- 1:01:10note, I’ll say goodbye to you. Until
- 1:01:12the next chakra. Dear friends, thank
- 1:01:16you for watching the video. It is part

- 1:01:48arriving. In these video lessons, some
- 1:01:51practice is given, followed by homework
- 1:01:53. You receive it, practice it, and then
- 1:01:56the next lesson arrives. And in this
- 1:01:59way, you very systematically,
- 1:02:01competently, and smoothly master this
- 1:02:03science, this subtle science of
- 1:02:05meditation. The course turned out to be
- 1:02:07very inspiring. I receive wonderful
- 1:02:10feedback from students, a lot of very
- 1:02:12kind words. And I am inspired myself. I
- 1:02:15didn't think one could teach like this
- 1:02:17over the internet. Actually, it turns
- 1:02:20out to be even more effective than
- 1:02:22in-person training because there is an
- 1:02:24unshakeable system here. Right. So
- 1:02:28subscribe, and when you don't want to
- 1:02:31wait 3 days for the next release, you
- 1:02:33can use the YouTube channel; subscribe
- 1:02:35to it, and you will receive all the
- 1:02:37freshest updates and all the
- 1:02:38inspirations that suddenly dawn and
- 1:02:40arrive, and they get recorded—so they
- 1:02:43are all yours. And the atmosphere on
- 1:02:46the YouTube channel is very democratic
- 1:02:48and broad. So there are long lectures,
- 1:02:51if someone likes listening to 2-hour
- 1:02:53lectures, there are short bits of
- 1:02:55inspiration, physical practices,
- 1:02:57meditative practices, and philosophical
- 1:02:59topics. There. Well, that's it, dive in
- 1:03:02, subscribe, and if you like this,
- 1:03:04share it with your friends. I am very
- 1:03:06grateful for that too. All the best.
