$300 ROBOT MAKES YOUR PERFECT MAKEUP ROUTINE? — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Hello you guys, James Charles here and
- 0:02welcome back to my YouTube channel.
- 0:04Today's video could be monumental
- 0:06because we could be solving my
- 0:08foundation matching problems forever. We
- 0:11all know that in the beginning of my
- 0:12career, I was not exactly the best at
- 0:15getting my foundation color correct.
- 0:17Sometimes I was orange, sometimes I was
- 0:19yellow, sometimes I was plain old white.
- 0:21It was really challenging for me to be
- 0:23able to pick a great foundation shade.
- 0:25So, it is safe to say after eight years
- 0:26of doing makeup on both myself, some of
- 0:28the world's most famous faces, literally
- 0:30having my own makeup brand. Now,
- 0:31unfortunately, I have still not been
- 0:33able to master the art of perfect
- 0:35foundation matching. However, there is a
- 0:38new device on the market that may solve
- 0:40this problem once and for all. This
- 0:42video has been going viral all over
- 0:44social media of a custom foundation
- 0:46mixing robot. This device costs $300,
- 0:50but apparently, you take a photo of your
- 0:52skin. It comes with white, black,
- 0:54yellow, blue, and red pigment, and it
- 0:56can custom mix together your perfect
- 0:59shade of foundation every single time.
- 1:02So, of course, you guys know I bought
- 1:04it. And in today's video, we're going to
- 1:05put this to the test. Unpaid,
- 1:07unsponsored, unbiased, brutally honest
- 1:10review. Can this machine actually match
- 1:12my foundation once and for all? For
- 1:15$300, it better.
- 1:20If you guys are excited for today's
- 1:21video, if you think this robot can
- 1:23actually match my foundation, please go
- 1:24ahead and give this video a big thumbs
- 1:26up down below. Your love and support
- 1:27really helps me and the channel out
- 1:29quite a lot. And if you have not
- 1:30already, more than 80% of you guys that
- 1:32are watching our videos every single
- 1:33week are not actually subscribed. So,
- 1:35click that button as well as the bell
- 1:37icon next to it so you guys get a
- 1:38notification like this every time I
- 1:40upload a brand new video. Last but not
- 1:42least, if you're watching me on your TV,
- 1:44hello friends and family. You can swipe
- 1:46up on your remote and click my little
- 1:47profile picture right down here and
- 1:49subscribe that way. All right, let's get
- 1:51right into today's video. So, like I
- 1:53said, you guys, I saw the video all over
- 1:55social media of creators trying this
- 1:56custom foundation mixing robot, and I
- 1:58placed an order online. My total came to
- 2:01$300 from the brand Bold Hue. This is
- 2:04the box that it came in, but I also got
- 2:06a custom little note card as well, and
- 2:07it says, "From the bottom of our hearts,
- 2:09thank you. Your support means everything
- 2:10to us. We've worked tirelessly to bring
- 2:12Bolt Hugh to life driven by a mission to
- 2:14create a more inclusive beauty industry
- 2:16where everyone is seen, heard, and
- 2:17celebrated. I do appreciate that, but
- 2:19$300 is definitely um not accessible to
- 2:22everyone in order to be seen, heard, and
- 2:24celebrated. $300 is a lot of money.
- 2:26Granted, I understand the technology is
- 2:28certainly not cheap, but like if you
- 2:30want everyone to be seen, heard, and
- 2:31celebrated, baby, we're going to need to
- 2:32repric this to about 30 bucks. Okay,
- 2:34take a zero off the end of that. I can
- 2:36definitely appreciate the effort that
- 2:37went into the packaging and the custom
- 2:39little note for $300. At least they want
- 2:41me to be appreciated. Let's go ahead and
- 2:43open up this box and see what we have
- 2:47inside. We got a slow reveal. There we
- 2:50go. Okay. Says, "Be bold, be you, bold
- 2:53hue." Okay. Brand slogan. We have the
- 2:56user manual. Bold you custom foundation
- 2:58device. And we have the actual
- 3:00foundation mixing robot right here. Look
- 3:03at that. I have this box inside. We have
- 3:06blue, yellow, red, black, white, gray,
- 3:10gray. No, surely not. That's crazy.
- 3:13Okay, we also have foundation jar, so we
- 3:15can put our custom little colors in. And
- 3:16it comes with a beauty blender as well,
- 3:18which I can love and appreciate. We do a
- 3:20lot of videos on the Painted account
- 3:21talking about beauty blenders, and a lot
- 3:22of you guys think that like I have beef
- 3:24with beauty blender. I love these
- 3:25things. They're a great sponge. I still
- 3:26have several in my makeup collection.
- 3:28They're just expensive. And
- 3:29unfortunately, they're out of a lot of
- 3:30people's budget to be spending $20 on a
- 3:32makeup sponge every single time you have
- 3:34to get ready. That's why I love the
- 3:35painted sponge. It is double the size,
- 3:37even bigger when you actually get it
- 3:38wet, but half the price at only 10
- 3:39bucks. So, I would recommend painted
- 3:41sponge instead, but if you want to get a
- 3:42beauty blender, it's great. Love this.
- 3:44Download the app. [ __ ] I have an app
- 3:46that I need to download. Oh my gosh.
- 3:48Okay, get started here. Download the
- 3:50app. Okay. Bold to Perfect Match. Oh,
- 3:53out of three ratings, it has five stars.
- 3:55We're going to download Little Face ID.
- 3:57It says open Volt Hugh. Welcome to the
- 3:59game-changing color matching revolution.
- 4:01In just a few minutes, you'll be ready
- 4:02to make your custom foundation. First
- 4:04time setup. Place Voltu upright on a
- 4:06table surface. Connect it to a USB cable
- 4:08and power adapter not included, [ __ ]
- 4:12Press the center button to turn it on.
- 4:13Make sure your phone's Bluetooth is
- 4:14enabled in order to connect your Bold
- 4:16Hue. Okay, so we're going to plug in the
- 4:18back of the thing. Then we're going to
- 4:20press the middle button on top to turn
- 4:22it on. There we go. Bold Hue. Okay. Oh,
- 4:26the screen's twitching. Oh, that can't
- 4:27be good. Find your bold hue. Device not
- 4:30found. Oh my god. What is this not
- 4:31working? If I said $300 and this [ __ ]
- 4:33doesn't work, I'm going to be so mad.
- 4:35Oh, device found. That must be this,
- 4:37right? Okay, I'm going to click connect.
- 4:39Update Bold Hughes firmware. After the
- 4:41install, Bold Hue screen will go dark.
- 4:43When this occurs, press the power button
- 4:45for about 30 seconds until the Bold Hue
- 4:47powers back on. Repair with Bluetooth
- 4:48through this app after the update. Oh my
- 4:50god, I just bought this last week. How
- 4:52is it not up to date? Oh my god. Okay,
- 4:54updating. How is my phone updating this
- 4:58device without being connected together?
- 4:59Like, how does Bluetooth really work?
- 5:01Let's clock that T. Let's have that
- 5:03discussion connected to Bold Hugh 2B47.
- 5:06Remove back panel. Okay, that is
- 5:09this. Oh, look at that. Okay. Unbox
- 5:14cartridges and shake vigorously. Okay,
- 5:16so we're going to unbox our blue first.
- 5:18Shake, shake, shake. Oh, shake shake
- 5:21shake. Shake your bold hue. to shake
- 5:24your bowl, too. Okay, we're going to
- 5:26remove the cap. I must place this like
- 5:28upside down, right? I assume. Push and
- 5:30twist until you hear or feel a click.
- 5:32Oh, there we go. Clicked. Okay, there we
- 5:34go. Let's do white. Next, white pigment
- 5:37concentrate. Let's put white right in
- 5:39here. Now, red. Oh my god, this is a lot
- 5:41of work. I feel like I'm back in my days
- 5:43at the frozen yogurt shop preparing the
- 5:45machines for all of our clients. God, I
- 5:47miss frozen yogurt. Can we bring back
- 5:49that
- 5:50trend? Good talk. Thanks, team. And then
- 5:53last but not least, we have our black.
- 5:56Load it in. And a nice click. I think
- 5:59that is the machine herby fully loaded.
- 6:02Next, return back
- 6:04panel. Here we go. Start a new scan.
- 6:07Activating wand. Calibrating sensors.
- 6:09Checking cartridge levels. Remove the
- 6:11wand and wait for the glass end to light
- 6:15up. It's lit. Okay. Start scanning
- 6:18forehead, chin, and neck. Okay. Here we
- 6:20go. Let me move my hair.
- 6:22It vibrated. Okay.
- 6:24Chin. It vibrated. Did you hear that?
- 6:26Okay. Now, neck. It vibrated. Okay. Now,
- 6:29wand returned to its cradle. Okay. The
- 6:32wand is back in. Wand returned. Click my
- 6:34little button here. Bold. Who's
- 6:36analyzing your custom shade? You guys,
- 6:38this is thrilling. Here's your match.
- 6:40Oh, that is racially
- 6:43insensitive. Well, actually, maybe that
- 6:46is my color with the spray tan. Grab
- 6:47your foundation jar and click below.
- 6:49Okay. Make your match. Oh, that little
- 6:51compartment just opened up. Are you
- 6:53kidding me? Wait, gag. Watch the drawer
- 6:56opens. Remove the lid from your jar and
- 6:58place the jar flat inside. Then close
- 7:00the
- 7:01drawer. Are you kidding me? This is
- 7:04crazy. Okay, now I'm going to click the
- 7:06button right here that says make
- 7:09foundation. Preparing, you guys. Wait,
- 7:12this is crazy. This is so cool. Okay, is
- 7:14it doing
- 7:15anything? ASMR.
- 7:19A few moments later.
- 7:233:28
- 7:26a.m. tomorrow.
- 7:29It's taking a long time. You can also do
- 7:31other things while you're waiting.
- 7:33That's true. Oh, yeah. I could prime my
- 7:34skin. Why don't I go ahead and do that?
- 7:36That is a great suggestion, Trevor.
- 7:38Okay, let me go ahead and apply, you
- 7:40know, just a little bit of moisturizer.
- 7:41That way, our gorgeous foundation has a
- 7:43perfect base to sit on top of. Oh. Huh.
- 7:47Isn't Oh. Ah, there it is. Oh my god.
- 7:50Wait. Gag. Remove the jar and use the
- 7:54included mixing spatula to thoroughly
- 7:56mix your foundation. Wait, it's not even
- 7:59mixed together. Are you kidding me? It
- 8:00is literally just all the pigments
- 8:02dispersed in there. I have to do the
- 8:04mixing. There's no built-in blender in
- 8:06there. Come on. For $300, y'all surely
- 8:08could have included a [ __ ] blender.
- 8:10They want you have a little fun. That's
- 8:12true. It does make you feel like a
- 8:13little scientist. So, here is the custom
- 8:15little mixing spatula. This is cheap
- 8:17[ __ ] plastic. Again, for $300, if I'm
- 8:20going to mix it myself, at least give me
- 8:21some high quality metal. Come on. So,
- 8:24these are my custom colors. We have all
- 8:26of them in here. There is literally zero
- 8:28blue. Um, okay, that's concerning for
- 8:30sure. Oh, there is some blue in there.
- 8:32Maybe it was covered by something else.
- 8:33Okay, so we're going to mix it together.
- 8:34Oh, yep. That is definitely getting
- 8:36close to a skin tone shade. Let me keep
- 8:37mixing until there are no streaks. Okay,
- 8:40well, that is pretty much all mixed
- 8:42together. It definitely looks a little
- 8:43bit orange in the container,
- 8:48but all over my [ __ ] pants. Are you
- 8:51kidding me? These are nice pants, too.
- 8:54That is so annoying. Oh my god. Like,
- 8:56literally all over my [ __ ] pants.
- 8:58Great. I have to put these in the wash.
- 8:59I was going to wear these today. Next
- 9:01time to apply. Okay, I don't need
- 9:03[ __ ] help applying my [ __ ] I can do
- 9:05this myself. Oh, well, we officially
- 9:08have our James Charles March 28th Friday
- 9:12of 2025. We're going to go ahead and
- 9:14grab our little spatula here and we will
- 9:16apply this to the face and see if this
- 9:18is actually our perfect color match.
- 9:20Here we go. In 3 2
- 9:23[Music]
- 9:261. It's not bad. It is a little dark, I
- 9:31think, and a little
- 9:34orange. Oh, yeah. Look at that. That is
- 9:37way darker than my chin. Hold on. Woah.
- 9:39Woah. Woah. Woah. Woah. You guys, that
- 9:42is not a color match. For $300, I can do
- 9:45a way better job than this. Are you
- 9:47[ __ ] serious? Okay, I'm going to grab
- 9:49our painted sponge and let's see here.
- 9:50We're going to do half the face and
- 9:52we're going to see how this matches. I
- 9:54hope that it's a good coverage, too.
- 9:55This is so dark. Are you kidding me? I
- 9:58don't know, James. Trevor, use your
- 10:00eyeballs. Trevor Garcia, I swear you've
- 10:03just got a spray tan, so you are a
- 10:05little orangey. Yes. And so it matches.
- 10:07No. Look at the color difference between
- 10:09this side of my face and this side of my
- 10:11face for
- 10:13$300. Not even [ __ ] close. Did you
- 10:16scan the orange parts of your spray tan?
- 10:18I scanned where they told me to scan.
- 10:20Let's at least like test out the formula
- 10:22and we'll see if I can like layer up a
- 10:23little bit cuz it's also like really not
- 10:25giving much coverage. I wish that it
- 10:27would start off like super super super
- 10:28full coverage, but then if a user
- 10:30purchased and wanted it to be like a
- 10:32lighter coverage foundation day, you
- 10:34could click a button and there'd be
- 10:35another cartridge added in that like
- 10:37waters down the formula a bit to a more
- 10:39natural finish because this is looking
- 10:41pretty watery and light coverage. And
- 10:43again, for $300, I'm not looking for
- 10:46some, you know, [ __ ] ass little skin
- 10:48tint. I'm looking for house paint on my
- 10:50face. Oh my god, it is literally [ __ ]
- 10:52orange. Do it again. Okay, I'm down. I'm
- 10:54going to have to give it another shot.
- 10:56Lord knows it took me, you know, a
- 10:58thousand tries to get it right. That's
- 10:59fine. Look, I'm going to take a makeup
- 11:01wipe. Look at this. Here we go. Ready?
- 11:06It's not correct. Zoom in on my hand if
- 11:08you think it matches so closely. First
- 11:10of all, my face is very much darker than
- 11:11my hands. But here we go. Ready for
- 11:12this?
- 11:14You didn't scan your hand. You scanned
- 11:17your face. Okay. Okay. Just defend the
- 11:19[ __ ] robot. Unfortunately, first
- 11:22attempt at custom foundation mixing is
- 11:24definitely a fail, but let's try this
- 11:26again. We're going to click start a new
- 11:28scan on the app again and let's see if
- 11:30we can get this a little bit more
- 11:31accurate this time. How was your last
- 11:32match? Oh, here we go. Okay, loved it.
- 11:34Wasn't great. Okay, wasn't great. Have
- 11:36more to say. Leave us a comment. A
- 11:38little too orange and too dark. Feedback
- 11:42sent. That's good. I'm down for that.
- 11:44Let's try this again. Let's remove the
- 11:46marker here. And now we wait for the
- 11:48light to turn on. Is my forehead like
- 11:50too orange or something? Right in the
- 11:52middle. Okay, it vibrated. Now I'm going
- 11:55to do here instead of the chin. Okay,
- 11:58there. And then I'll do here on the
- 12:02neck. It vibrated. Okay, now we put the
- 12:05pen back into the machine. One returned.
- 12:08Great. Bolt 2 is analyzing your custom
- 12:10shade. Hopefully it'll be better this
- 12:11time. It wasn't awful the first time
- 12:13around. It was just a couple of shades
- 12:15off. This technology is super super
- 12:16super impressive, but for $300, I expect
- 12:19it to be a perfect match. Oh, here's
- 12:21your match. I mean, honestly, it looks
- 12:23extremely similar to the last time, but
- 12:25I guess it's going to make your
- 12:28match. That really gets me every time.
- 12:30We're going to plop the new jar right
- 12:31in. And we'll go ahead and get this
- 12:33closed. And I'll click make foundation.
- 12:35In the meantime, I will go ahead and
- 12:37open up my custom little beauty blender.
- 12:39And I will get this
- 12:41wet. It already opened. Oh my gosh, that
- 12:44was so much faster than the last time.
- 12:46Okay, should I name my hue? Let's try
- 12:48it. Take two. I'm done. So, here is what
- 12:51take two looks like. Our updated color
- 12:53pigments. And I'll go ahead and mix
- 12:55these all together until we have the
- 12:56perfect pigment. I will say already off
- 12:59the bat, this looks much closer to my
- 13:02actual skin tone. It is definitely
- 13:03lighter, which means there's more white
- 13:05pigment, and it is less orange, which
- 13:07means there's more blue pigment. Both
- 13:09great things in this case. Maybe this is
- 13:11going to be the perfect match this time.
- 13:12Okay, if you guys are excited for take
- 13:14number two, go ahead and give this video
- 13:15a big thumbs up down below. Maybe this
- 13:17foundation shade will finally be the
- 13:19color for me. Oh, these colors are very
- 13:21different. You guys can already see just
- 13:23in the jar, this one is much more orange
- 13:25and much darker. This one is a bit more
- 13:27neutral. It looks a little yellow, I'm
- 13:30going to be honest, but it is definitely
- 13:31lighter. Let's see if take two is our
- 13:34perfect foundation shade. Okay, here we
- 13:36go. In three, two, one.
- 13:42I don't know. See, cuz now this looks
- 13:45too yellow. Like look at this in
- 13:47comparison to like this area of the
- 13:48chin.
- 13:50That's yellow. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh
- 13:53my god. The other one was better. What
- 13:55are you, Trevor? Are you color blind?
- 13:58This look bad. The last one was [ __ ]
- 14:00orange. It looked more natural than
- 14:02this. What? Okay, let me see. Let me
- 14:04give a little bit on my finger and I'll
- 14:05just apply the rest to the forehead. I
- 14:07look like I'm from the [ __ ] Simpsons.
- 14:09Are you kidding me? Oh my gosh. Okay,
- 14:11let's blend this in with our beauty
- 14:12blender. Oh my god, I have not used one
- 14:13of these in like [ __ ] 2 years. It's
- 14:16so
- 14:18[Applause]
- 14:26small. That is [ __ ] yellow. Are you
- 14:29kidding me? Oh my god. Oh my god. Again,
- 14:32it's not so far off that I couldn't make
- 14:35this work. Like I could easily use a
- 14:37nice lighter concealer, a pink under eye
- 14:39setting powder, the right shades of
- 14:40contour. I could fix this up. If this
- 14:42was my only option, it's fine. But for
- 14:46$300, $300 [ __ ] dollars for a
- 14:49foundation. The second this stupid
- 14:50spatula touches my skin, that better
- 14:52blend in. It better be so seamless, so
- 14:55perfectly matched. Okay, for $300, oh my
- 14:58god, I could buy half of the Sephora
- 15:00foundations. You think the first color
- 15:01was better? I think this one's better
- 15:03for sure. Now that it oxidized, the
- 15:05pigment is not great either. It's like
- 15:08so light coverage. Okay, we'll do it one
- 15:10more time. I think that I'll keep jar
- 15:12number two just in case jar number three
- 15:14gets worse. And I will clean out jar
- 15:17number one because this was [ __ ]
- 15:18terrible. Okay, let's clean this out and
- 15:20get ready for take number three. I'm
- 15:23also going to leave this color on too.
- 15:24That way when we get our last and final
- 15:26mix, we can see them compared side to
- 15:28side. Let's try this one last time. Bold
- 15:31two. Start new scan. How was your last
- 15:34match? I'll say wasn't great again.
- 15:36Close match, but a little too yellow.
- 15:40Okay, feedback sent. Thank you for the
- 15:41feedback. You're welcome. Should I match
- 15:43it to my hand? I have an idea. I have an
- 15:45idea. I'll use my arm. Like this area.
- 15:47Okay. Wand. Here we go. Wait for the
- 15:49light to turn on. Lights on. Okay. We're
- 15:52going to do right here. Okay. We're
- 15:54going to do right
- 15:56here. Just kidding. Okay. Then we're
- 15:58going to do my hand. Let's or my arm.
- 16:00Let's do right here. Okay. Now, let's
- 16:03see what it comes up with. Juan
- 16:05returned. Bolt, he was analyzing your
- 16:07custom shade. I'm so smart. I'm a
- 16:09[ __ ] genius. I should wait until we
- 16:11see the color before I start saying
- 16:12that. Ooh, here's your match. That color
- 16:15looks better. Make your
- 16:17match. Are you kidding me? Modern
- 16:19technology is so fun. We're going to
- 16:20place jar number one back in the drawer.
- 16:23Close it up. And then on my little
- 16:24phone, we're going to click make
- 16:26foundation. Here we go. This could be
- 16:28when we finally get our custom little
- 16:30match. Thank you, So again, this is what
- 16:33it looks like. Slightly different
- 16:34pigment this time around. Let's close
- 16:36this up. Okay, name your hue. Take
- 16:39three. I'm done. Let's go ahead and mix
- 16:41this together and we'll try take number
- 16:44three. Okay, right off the bat, it's
- 16:46definitely lighter again, which is
- 16:48great. Maybe this time around it'll be
- 16:50more accurate. Also, it looks a little
- 16:51bit yellow. I'm not putting enough blue
- 16:53in it. Here is take number three. So,
- 16:55once again, you guys, we still have take
- 16:57number two on this side of my face. Our
- 16:58last and final mix together. Here we go.
- 17:03Oh my god. Concealer. Let's brighten up
- 17:06the inner parts of our face.
- 17:14Oh my god, this machine has no idea what
- 17:16color I am. It is literally just
- 17:17randomizing it as it goes. This again is
- 17:20really, really, really yellow
- 17:21undertoned. Oh my gosh. Okay, we'll do
- 17:24the forehead. Let's blend this in. You
- 17:26know what? I just had a theory. Maybe
- 17:27the reason they made the foundation
- 17:28formula so light coverage is because
- 17:29they know that it's not really great at
- 17:31matching colors. So that way if it's
- 17:32light, it'll just blend right in because
- 17:34this is literally blending to like
- 17:35nothing. That color does look the best,
- 17:37right? Out of all three of them. That's
- 17:39me. Yeah, you're right. I should stop
- 17:40asking for your opinion. Definitely the
- 17:43best of the three for sure. It looked
- 17:44really crazy on my skin before I blended
- 17:46it in, but I do think that actually
- 17:48looks pretty good. At this point, I'm
- 17:49going to take off shade number two and
- 17:51we will attempt to do a base routine
- 17:52using shade number three. I don't know
- 17:54if this is the best match that I've ever
- 17:56used. It is decent, that's for sure. The
- 17:58robot did its job. But aside from the
- 18:00color being perfect, for $300, the
- 18:03formula better be incredible, too. Let's
- 18:05actually put this to the test. Okay,
- 18:07we're going in shade number two. I'm
- 18:08literally just going to use my finger
- 18:10from this stupid jar. I'm going to layer
- 18:12on quite a lot, too, because you guys
- 18:13know me. I like my full coverage glam.
- 18:15I'm definitely not looking for a light
- 18:17makeup kind of day. I will say I didn't
- 18:19really use full jar one or two to put on
- 18:21the foundation. So maybe it really does
- 18:23make enough for like a full face, full
- 18:25coverage glam because when I actually
- 18:26stick my finger in there and try to
- 18:27layer it up, we're getting somewhere.
- 18:29Okay, we'll use the excess on the neck.
- 18:31Making sure we get the ears as well.
- 18:33Literally just going to shove my painted
- 18:34sponge right into this little jar and
- 18:36we'll get the rest on there. And let's
- 18:38go ahead and blend this in. So the
- 18:40foundation is all applied. This is what
- 18:41it looks like right off the bat. The
- 18:43color is okay. I think it did a good job
- 18:45matching the different areas of my skin.
- 18:47It took us a couple of tries, that's for
- 18:49sure. But I do think this color is good.
- 18:51Is it worth $300? I don't know about
- 18:53that. However, now we need to put the
- 18:55actual formula to the test, especially
- 18:56with the rest of the products. So, let's
- 18:58go ahead and do our regular base
- 19:00routine. First, I will add on a little
- 19:01bit of contour. I'm going to use the new
- 19:03Anastasia Beverly Hills contour sticks.
- 19:05I'm going to use the shade shadow, which
- 19:07I know is extremely dark, but don't
- 19:08worry, it'll blend out. Using our
- 19:10painted J15 brush, literally makes it so
- 19:12easy. Do a little bit of nose contour as
- 19:14well. What I'm noticing right away as
- 19:16I'm trying to blend on these cream
- 19:17contours is that everything is kind of
- 19:19slipping around. This foundation formula
- 19:21is very wet and it isn't really drying
- 19:23down or setting in place at all, which
- 19:25is fine, but while I'm trying to like
- 19:26blend out these contours, everything is
- 19:28kind of disappearing and dispersing as I
- 19:31blend. And that is not my favorite. Let
- 19:34me add on a little bit of concealer. I'm
- 19:36going to grab Natasha Denona and I'll
- 19:38just do a little bit right underneath
- 19:39the eyes. Snatch the nose. Let's blend
- 19:42this out and see. And obviously, you
- 19:44guys, I know I use quite a lot of
- 19:45concealer. My goal is definitely not to
- 19:46make this a full face of concealer,
- 19:48especially because it has more
- 19:49pigmentation to it. However, whenever
- 19:51I'm trying out a new foundation or
- 19:52something in my base routine, I like to
- 19:54do every other step the same exact way
- 19:55that I normally do it. That way, it gets
- 19:57a fair shot. So, I usually use a lot of
- 19:59concealer. Nothing is new. We're going
- 20:00to do the same exact thing today, and
- 20:02hopefully the foundation will work just
- 20:03as well underneath it. Everything is
- 20:05just like slipping around. I literally
- 20:07need to go back in with my contour
- 20:08because in that blending process,
- 20:10everything disappeared. Last but not
- 20:11least, let's apply some blush. I'll of
- 20:13course grab a little bit of painted. I'm
- 20:14going to grab the shade girly pop for
- 20:16today. I'll do a little dip in with our
- 20:18J15. Have this right on top of the
- 20:19cheeks just for a little pop of pink.
- 20:21Gorgeous. Here's how it is looking so
- 20:23far. Just creams and liquids. But let's
- 20:26add some powder and set this in place.
- 20:28Underneath the eyes, we'll get the nose,
- 20:30center of the forehead. Wow, it's set in
- 20:32place pretty nicely. I got to keep it
- 20:34real. One thing that I always judge a
- 20:36new foundation on is whether or not it
- 20:38stays on the corners of my nose because
- 20:40that is always the one place that I
- 20:42start to lose products on and it is
- 20:44completely gone. I'll give you guys an
- 20:46up close and personal. Oh yeah, you can
- 20:47really see it on my phone. Oh my god, my
- 20:49[ __ ] the side of my nose. That looks
- 20:53[ __ ] Absolutely not. I mean, that
- 20:56alone is enough for me to say I'm never
- 20:58[ __ ] using this again. The color is
- 21:00great. I got to be real. The color ended
- 21:02up looking really, really, really good.
- 21:03This is a phenomenal match. The problem
- 21:06is, you know, you can have a great color
- 21:07all day long. If the formula sucks, I'm
- 21:09not putting it on my face. And this
- 21:11looks really [ __ ] bad. It looks
- 21:14terrible on this main camera. It looks
- 21:16beautiful. It looks smooth. But you guys
- 21:17saw the close-up footage. It is dry. It
- 21:19is textured. You can see the pores. You
- 21:21can see every single thing underneath.
- 21:23For
- 21:25$300, it's going to be an absolute
- 21:28[ __ ] no from me. In comparison, okay,
- 21:30for example, Huda Beauty Easy Blur. love
- 21:32this foundation. It is $37. So 300
- 21:35divided by 37, you can buy eight shades
- 21:38of this. You can literally go to your
- 21:39Sephora and buy eight different shades
- 21:41that you think could be a great match,
- 21:43okay? And test out all of them and
- 21:45return the other seven for the same
- 21:46price of this machine. Anastasia
- 21:48foundation, 46 bucks. You could buy six
- 21:50and a half shades to find out your
- 21:51perfect color. Even Maybelline Fit Me,
- 21:53okay? One of the best drugstore
- 21:54foundations. This is $11. For $11, you
- 21:58could buy 27 different shades of
- 22:01Maybelline foundation to find your
- 22:02perfect color. Okay, 27. That is almost
- 22:04the entire shade range for the price of
- 22:06this one machine. Here's the thing. I
- 22:08think that this company, Bold You, is
- 22:10really on to something here. There are
- 22:12clearly millions of people worldwide
- 22:14that love makeup and want to wear
- 22:15foundation, but have trouble figuring
- 22:17out their perfect shade. Myself
- 22:19included. Okay, I have no problem
- 22:21admitting that. So, I think it is very
- 22:22smart to try to take advantage of that
- 22:24gap in the market. However, to me, it
- 22:27comes across like this is a technology
- 22:29company, not necessarily a makeup
- 22:32company. I think that the whole
- 22:33experience of mixing the colors
- 22:34together, scanning the face, and coming
- 22:36out with the perfect shade is really,
- 22:39really cool. And in the end, it took us
- 22:41a couple of tries clearly, but we were
- 22:43able to get a really good color. I mean,
- 22:45this is a great match. It looks good on
- 22:47the face. It looks good next to my
- 22:49hands. It blends out nicely. I would
- 22:51wear this foundation out. However, the
- 22:53actual formula kind of sucks. it is
- 22:55really wet but then somehow ends up
- 22:57looking dry once you set it in place. It
- 22:59emphasizes texture. It doesn't have
- 23:00enough coverage. I would not ever reach
- 23:03for this foundation formula again. And
- 23:05that's saying a lot considering it costs
- 23:09$300. And speaking of that price tag,
- 23:11their whole motto that they had in their
- 23:12little note card is making sure everyone
- 23:14is seen, heard, and celebrated. For
- 23:17$300, most people can't afford to be
- 23:20seen, heard, and celebrated. So, to me,
- 23:22I don't really see this as like a
- 23:23consumerf facing product. I think this
- 23:25would be way more useful in a retail
- 23:27location like an Ulta or a Sephora where
- 23:29it makes your custom shade based on the
- 23:31scan and then you have the little swatch
- 23:33and you can walk around to the different
- 23:34aisles and find the perfect shade of
- 23:36foundation from an existing brand that
- 23:38way. Kind of like Sephora's color
- 23:40matching machine that they already have,
- 23:41but this is a whole lot better. I will
- 23:43give them credit. All in all, this is a
- 23:45really cool product and I definitely had
- 23:46a lot of fun filming this video today.
- 23:48But I got to be honest, I don't think
- 23:50that I can recommend this to you guys,
- 23:52especially not for
- 23:53$300. $300 is a lot of money that I know
- 23:56most people do not have lying around for
- 23:58a custom foundation machine. The idea of
- 24:01AI picture makeup and robots doing all
- 24:03these tasks for us, I know seems cool
- 24:05and fun in theory, but at the end of the
- 24:07day, we have makeup artists for a
- 24:09reason. Go to your Ulta, go to your
- 24:11Sephora, go to your local makeup store
- 24:13and talk to an employee to help get your
- 24:15perfect color match. They're going to be
- 24:17able to tell you your undertone. They're
- 24:18going to be able to tell you exactly
- 24:19what shade you need, but more
- 24:20importantly, the formula and brands that
- 24:22you should be using that are going to
- 24:24work on your skin and give you the dream
- 24:26foundation that matches your makeup
- 24:29preferences. A robot will never be able
- 24:31to do that job for you. All in all, I
- 24:33think that is everything I have for
- 24:34today's video. You guys tagged me so
- 24:36many times on Instagram and Tik Tok
- 24:38showing off this machine. So, I really,
