- 5:02>> Now it's your turn to practice. Imagine
- 5:06you are Sarah. You are standing outside
- 5:10your home, ready to take a taxi to the
- 5:14station. Take a breath. Listen
- 5:17carefully. Then repeat each sentence
- 5:21slowly and clearly.
- 5:26I need a taxi to the station.
- 5:31Could you take me to the station,
- 5:34please?
- 5:37Is this the taxi for Sarah?
- 5:42Yes, that's right.
- 5:46Could you put my bag in the trunk,
- 5:49please?
- 5:52Thank you.
- 5:56Now, imagine you are sitting in the

- 6:05about the route.
- 6:09Do you prefer the highway or the city
- 6:12route?
- 6:15Whichever is faster, please.
- 6:20Now the car feels a little warm. You
- 6:24want some fresh air. Say it's a little
- 6:28warm in the car.
- 6:31Could
- 6:33you turn on the AC, please?
- 6:38Thank you. That feels much better.
- 6:44Now, you want to open the window. Say,
- 6:48could you roll down the window a little,
- 6:52please? I'd like some fresh air.
- 6:57The taxi continues through the city.
- 7:00There is some traffic. The driver says
- 7:05there is a little traffic today.
- 7:10You can answer. I can see that the road
- 7:14is very busy.
- 7:18Now ask an important question. How long
- 7:22will it take?
- 7:26The driver answers, "We should be there
- 7:28in about 15 minutes."
- 7:34Now, imagine you can see the station.
- 7:37You are almost there. Say, "I can see
- 7:41the station."
- 7:44Great. We're almost there.
- 7:49The driver asks, "Where should I drop
- 7:52you off?"
- 7:55your answer just by the main entrance,
- 7:59please.
- 8:02That would be perfect. Thank you.
- 8:07The taxi stops. Now it is time to pay.
- 8:11Ask how much is the fair.
- 8:16The driver says the fair is £1450.
- 8:24You are paying with cash. Say, "Okay,
- 8:28I'll pay in cash."
- 8:32Here is £14.50.
- 8:38The driver gives you some change. Say,
- 8:42"Thank you. I'll put it in my bag."
- 8:47Now, finish the conversation naturally.
- 8:50Thank you for the comfortable ride.
- 8:55Have a great day. Take care.
- 9:01Now, let's practice a complete mini
- 9:04conversation.
- 9:05Driver, are you Sarah?
- 9:11Sarah? Yes, that's right. Good morning.
- 9:17Driver, where are you going?

- 11:38driver. Have a great day.
- 11:44Sarah, you too. Goodbye.
- 11:51Your speaking challenge.
- 11:57Now try to answer these questions
- 12:00without looking at the answers. Where
- 12:03are you going?
- 12:06How would you ask the driver to take you
- 12:09to the station?
- 12:12What would you say if the car feels too
- 12:15warm?
- 12:18How would you ask to open the window?
- 12:23How would you ask about the travel time?
- 12:28How would you tell the driver where to

- 12:39How would you tell the driver that you
- 12:41are paying with cash?
- 12:46And how would you thank the driver?
- 12:52Excellent work. You can now practice a
- 12:56complete taxi conversation in English
- 12:58from getting into the taxi, choosing the
- 13:01route, talking about traffic, asking
- 13:04about the AC, arriving at the station,
- 13:07paying with cash, and saying goodbye.
- 13:10Keep speaking slowly. Keep practicing
- 13:14every day. And remember, you do not need
- 13:17perfect English to communicate. You just
- 13:20need to keep speaking. Thank you for
- 13:23learning with me and I'll see you in the
- 13:25next lesson.
- 13:32I'm finally here at the station. The
- 13:35taxi ride was easy and comfortable. I
- 13:38paid the fair with cash and received my
- 13:41change. Thank you for learning with me
- 13:44and I'll see you in the next lesson.
