3 Terrifying TRUE Night Out Stories — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:13Last year, when all my friends [music]
- 0:15were home from college for the summer,
- 0:17we decided to go out and party as much
- 0:19as we could, especially since some of
- 0:21them were moving away for good after
- 0:23that summer.
- 0:24All of us were old enough to go out and
- 0:26drink legally by then. So, most nights
- 0:28we just hit up the local bars until they
- 0:30closed.
- 0:31One specific weekend, while a big group
- 0:33of us was out, my parents just happened
- 0:36to be out of town.
- 0:37Instead of staying out until 2:00 or
- 0:393:00 in the morning, I suggested that we
- 0:41go back to my parents' place to continue
- 0:42the party.
- 0:44Everyone loved the idea.
- 0:46I told everyone that they could drink as
- 0:47much as they wanted as long as they
- 0:49crashed at my place, which everyone
- 0:51agreed to.
- 0:52We went back to the house around 11:30
- 0:54that night.
- 0:55I suspected a decent amount of people,
- 0:57but was surprised at just how many
- 0:59people showed up.
- 1:01My parents had a huge house, and the
- 1:02closest neighbors were at the end of the
- 1:04street. So, usually we could be as loud
- 1:06as we wanted without being disruptive.
- 1:09They also had a pool, which usually got
- 1:11my friends excited.
- 1:13I started looking around at all the
- 1:14people, and I noticed that there were
- 1:15several of them I didn't recognize.
- 1:18When I asked one of my friends who all
- 1:19these people [music] were, they just
- 1:21gave me the generic friend of a friend
- 1:22response.
- 1:24At first, it didn't seem so weird.
- 1:27Most of the strangers that I didn't
- 1:28recognize were surrounded by people that
- 1:30I did recognize.
- 1:32They were joking around and being an
- 1:33active part of conversations.
- 1:36At 2:00 in the morning, a bunch of the
- 1:37people at the house decided to jump into
- 1:39the pool.
- 1:40There must have been 15 people in the
- 1:42pool.
- 1:43I didn't jump in because I was sitting
- 1:45on the deck with my girlfriend just
- 1:46talking.
- 1:48While I was listening to her talk, I
- 1:50noticed that there was a strange guy
- 1:51standing in the living room of the house
- 1:53looking out the window at the pool.
- 1:55He had a red cup in his hand just like a
- 1:57lot of other people did.
- 1:59Something about this guy was off,
- 2:00though.
- 2:01He looked older than us. Not like old
- 2:04man old, but definitely older than his
- 2:06early 20s.
- 2:07My girlfriend could tell I was
- 2:08distracted and asked me what was wrong.
- 2:11I asked her if she knew who that guy
- 2:13was, and she told me she didn't.
- 2:15She said our friend Shane may know who
- 2:17it is.
- 2:18I stood up on the deck trying to locate
- 2:20Shane.
- 2:21While I was standing there scanning
- 2:23everyone in the pool,
- 2:24my girlfriend said the same thing I did.
- 2:27She thought the guy seemed a little off,
- 2:28also.
- 2:30I didn't have to look very far for
- 2:31Shane, because he ended up walking onto
- 2:33the deck right at that moment.
- 2:35I asked him about the weird guy in the
- 2:36living room, and he didn't know who it
- 2:38was, either.
- 2:40He said he was pretty sure that he came
- 2:41in with Dustin's cousin.
- 2:43Of course, Dustin's cousin was also
- 2:45someone I didn't know very well.
- 2:47I was going to ask Dustin about this
- 2:49guy,
- 2:50but Shane informed me that Dustin, as
- 2:52well as his cousin, had left already,
- 2:54since neither one of them had been
- 2:55drinking.
- 2:56I figured that was just my luck.
- 2:59I ended up confronting the strange man
- 3:01and asked him what his name was.
- 3:03He just stared at me with a blank
- 3:04expression.
- 3:06It was like I asked him an impossible
- 3:08question.
- 3:09Then, he started to make this weird
- 3:11humming sound.
- 3:12I thought the guy was about to overheat
- 3:14from the question.
- 3:16I took the red cup from his hand and
- 3:17told him to sit on the couch.
- 3:20I honestly thought that this guy just
- 3:21had entirely too much to drink.
- 3:24I figured I would let him sleep here,
- 3:25since there was no way I was letting
- 3:27this guy into a car.
- 3:29I had to basically force the guy to sit
- 3:31on the couch, and when he did, he just
- 3:33continued staring in front of him.
- 3:36It was probably the weirdest interaction
- 3:37I've ever had in my entire life.
- 3:40Once he was on the couch, I went back to
- 3:42Shane and my girlfriend, and I told them
- 3:44that I was going to hurt Dustin tomorrow
- 3:46for leaving the strange dude at my
- 3:47house.
- 3:49I tried calling and texting Dustin, but
- 3:51he didn't answer.
- 3:53For the next couple of hours, people
- 3:55continued to party a little bit, but
- 3:56eventually they all started to fade.
- 3:59During that time, I would look over to
- 4:01the couch and the strange man was still
- 4:02just sitting there staring at nothing.
- 4:06I started to suspect that this guy might
- 4:07have been partying with something else.
- 4:10At 4:00 in the morning, almost everyone
- 4:12was asleep.
- 4:13My girlfriend went to bed about 30
- 4:15minutes prior.
- 4:16When I went into the living room, there
- 4:18were about seven people asleep on the
- 4:20couches and floor,
- 4:21but the strange guy was gone.
- 4:23I asked one of my friends in the living
- 4:25room who was still awake if he saw the
- 4:26strange guy,
- 4:28and he said that he saw him leave about
- 4:2920 minutes ago.
- 4:31I was upset that he left in the
- 4:32condition he was in, but deep down I was
- 4:35just happy he wasn't in my house
- 4:36anymore.
- 4:38I got into my bed next to my girlfriend
- 4:39and I fell asleep almost instantly.
- 4:42I had that strange sensation when you're
- 4:44sleeping and you feel like someone is
- 4:46watching you.
- 4:48I'm not sure of the exact time, but it
- 4:50was still dark in my room when the
- 4:51sensation woke me up.
- 4:53I basically sat up in bed quickly, and
- 4:55when I did, I saw someone leaving my
- 4:57room.
- 4:58I thought it was my girlfriend going to
- 5:00the bathroom
- 5:01until I went to lie back down and saw
- 5:03that my girlfriend was next to me, still
- 5:05asleep.
- 5:06I jumped out of bed.
- 5:08I was terrified and honestly a little
- 5:10confused.
- 5:11The only thing that came to mind was
- 5:13that one of my friends had to be drunk
- 5:15and probably accidentally wandered into
- 5:17my bedroom.
- 5:18I went downstairs and I could hear a
- 5:20weird noise.
- 5:22It sounded like someone was digging for
- 5:23something in a drawer or cabinet.
- 5:26I passed through the living room where I
- 5:27saw a bunch of my friends still asleep.
- 5:29Next to the living room is the kitchen
- 5:31where I expected to see one of my messed
- 5:33up friends, but nobody was in there.
- 5:36Down the hall that's off of the kitchen,
- 5:38I saw light coming from the room on the
- 5:40right.
- 5:41That's my dad's office.
- 5:43I snuck down the hall and hid behind a
- 5:44giant plant that's outside my office.
- 5:47In that room was the strange guy from
- 5:49before, and he was rummaging through all
- 5:52my dad's [music] desk drawers.
- 5:54Part of me wanted to confront this guy
- 5:55and act like a hero,
- 5:57but for some reason I was terrified.
- 5:59I could see his face from where I was
- 6:01hiding, and he still had [music] that
- 6:03expressionless look on his face as he
- 6:04was going through all the desk drawers.
- 6:07I didn't want him to see me,
- 6:09so before he left the office, I snuck
- 6:11back down the hall and into the kitchen.
- 6:14Before I could make it to the stairs,
- 6:16I heard him coming down the hall.
- 6:18I didn't want this guy to know I was
- 6:19awake, so I basically grabbed a blanket
- 6:21from one of my sleeping friends, and I
- 6:23dove onto the ground in the living room
- 6:25and pretended like I was asleep.
- 6:27I heard the guy walk into the living
- 6:29room, and he just stood there.
- 6:31I could hear him breathing.
- 6:33He probably [music] stood there for 5
- 6:35minutes, which felt like an eternity.
- 6:38Every once in a while, [music] when he
- 6:39was standing there, he would make that
- 6:41weird noise he was making before.
- 6:43After those 5 minutes, he went back into
- 6:46the kitchen.
- 6:47Just like in the office, I could hear
- 6:49him going through one of the drawers.
- 6:51He wasn't in the kitchen very long.
- 6:54Before I knew it, he was back in the
- 6:55living room, and it sounded like he was
- 6:57stomping over in my direction.
- 7:00I felt useless.
- 7:01It felt like he was charging at me.
- 7:04I didn't know what to do.
- 7:06He was practically standing over me, and
- 7:07then he grabbed [music] the sliding
- 7:09door, which I didn't even realize I was
- 7:10lying right next to.
- 7:12He walked outside and closed the door.
- 7:15I waited a good 15 minutes before I got
- 7:18up and locked the door.
- 7:19I ran back to the front door,
- 7:22and I made sure I locked that as well.
- 7:24As soon as the doors were locked, I went
- 7:26to the office to see if this guy had
- 7:27stolen anything.
- 7:29I spent a while going through
- 7:30everything, and I couldn't tell if
- 7:32anything was stolen.
- 7:34To me, it looked like everything was
- 7:35still there.
- 7:36When I went into the kitchen, it didn't
- 7:38look like anything was out of place,
- 7:41until I noticed one of the knives from
- 7:42my dad's knife set was missing.
- 7:45I looked everywhere for the knife and I
- 7:46couldn't find it anywhere.
- 7:48I didn't sleep the rest of that night.
- 7:51I was on edge that this weird guy was
- 7:52going to come back.
- 7:54The next morning, I asked every one of
- 7:56my friends if they knew who that guy was
- 7:57and nobody did.
- 7:59When I finally talked to Dustin and
- 8:01asked him about the guy, he had no idea
- 8:03who he was either.
- 8:05I asked if his cousin knew him and
- 8:07Dustin told me that the guy was being
- 8:09weird and he was freaking them out.
- 8:11He kept following Dustin's cousin around
- 8:13but not saying anything.
- 8:15He was just acting like a super creep,
- 8:18which is why they ended up suddenly
- 8:19leaving and not saying goodbye.
- 8:21Thankfully, I never saw the guy again.
- 8:24I truly have no idea who he was.
- 8:27He just showed up at the house and
- 8:28started acting like a creep.
- 8:30He had to be the one who took the knife
- 8:32and I don't even want to begin to think
- 8:33why.
- 8:35The more I've reflected on that night, I
- 8:37was able to confirm that it was
- 8:38definitely the creepy guy I saw leaving
- 8:40my bedroom when I woke up.
- 8:42I have no idea what he wanted and I
- 8:44think that's what freaks me out so much
- 8:45about this story.
- 8:57Several years back, one of my best
- 8:59friends, Riley, worked here in town as
- 9:01something called a location manager
- 9:03or location producer.
- 9:06What that means is that he would scout
- 9:07local areas for directors who would be
- 9:09shooting movies here.
- 9:11At the time, our small town was trying
- 9:13[music] to entice filmmakers to come
- 9:15here and shoot movies for cheap.
- 9:17During that time, some no-name director
- 9:19wanted to come here and shoot a horror
- 9:21movie since the area looked like every
- 9:23location from every Stephen King novel.
- 9:26When the director came to visit the
- 9:27town, Riley took him all around and
- 9:29showed him this one house, which,
- 9:31according to local lore,
- 9:33is supposed to be cursed or haunted.
- 9:36Of course, nobody from this actually
- 9:38believed that, but it was fun that our
- 9:40town had its own little Amityville
- 9:42Horror campfire tale.
- 9:44When the director found out, he became
- 9:46obsessed with this house and practically
- 9:48insisted on filming some of his scenes
- 9:50in there.
- 9:51Riley wasn't as much of a skeptic as
- 9:53most of us are,
- 9:54so he was a little uneasy about trying
- 9:56to get access to the house,
- 9:58but ultimately, he didn't want to let
- 9:59the director down.
- 10:01So, the next day, Riley tracked down
- 10:03whoever owned the property and asked him
- 10:04if they could use the house for several
- 10:06scenes they wanted to film.
- 10:08Riley said the owner [music] was some
- 10:09creepy old guy who smelled like death.
- 10:12According to Riley,
- 10:14this guy gave him a really bad feeling.
- 10:17Riley was sure that the guy was going to
- 10:18put up a fight about using the house,
- 10:20but he said he agreed to let them use it
- 10:22with almost no fight back.
- 10:25The director was pumped and they
- 10:26continued to work on the pre-production
- 10:28of the film.
- 10:29That night, a few of the locals who were
- 10:31working on the pre-production aspects of
- 10:32the film decided to take Riley out to
- 10:34celebrate.
- 10:36Apparently, this was the last location
- 10:38they needed to lock down before setting
- 10:39up a schedule to record.
- 10:42He didn't want to go alone, so he
- 10:43dragged me with him.
- 10:45Those film crew people sure knew how to
- 10:47party.
- 10:48We started hopping from bar to bar and
- 10:50we were feeling good.
- 10:52There was a woman there with us
- 10:53partying.
- 10:54I don't know if she was a producer or
- 10:56what her role on the film was.
- 10:59All I know is that she was working on
- 11:00the film in some capacity.
- 11:03Anyway, I was starting to vibe with her
- 11:04throughout the night.
- 11:06Her name was Jade.
- 11:08A little after 1:00 in the morning, Jade
- 11:10suggested [music] to the group of us,
- 11:11which at this point was six people, that
- 11:14we go to the allegedly haunted house and
- 11:15check it out.
- 11:17Riley immediately shot it down.
- 11:19Since I didn't have anything to lose and
- 11:21I was trying to impress this girl,
- 11:24I basically teamed up with her and tried
- 11:25to get the group on board with the idea.
- 11:28When everyone else got on board, Riley
- 11:30finally caved in and agreed to join us.
- 11:33Jade said that we would have the perfect
- 11:34excuse if we got caught.
- 11:36We could just say that we were doing
- 11:38some pre-production work at night and
- 11:39knowing that the house is abandoned, we
- 11:41figured it would be less disruptive to
- 11:43the neighborhood doing it then.
- 11:45It sounded great to me, but that's not
- 11:47how this type of situation works.
- 11:49We would still need approval from the
- 11:51owner to enter the property and Riley
- 11:53was worried that if we got caught, we
- 11:55would lose permission [music] to use the
- 11:56house.
- 11:58It was a tense drive to the house.
- 12:00I could tell Riley was upset and I felt
- 12:02like a jerk that I didn't back him up.
- 12:05When we got there, I came to my senses
- 12:07for a brief moment and tried to get the
- 12:09group to reconsider going into the
- 12:10house.
- 12:12Jade started to call me a coward in a
- 12:13flirtatious way
- 12:15and my efforts to get them to reconsider
- 12:17evaporated right away.
- 12:19One of the guys tried to open the door
- 12:21and surprisingly, it was unlocked.
- 12:24The six of us walked in quietly.
- 12:26It was extremely cold in there.
- 12:28It wasn't exactly warm from outside, but
- 12:30it was noticeably colder inside the
- 12:32house for some reason.
- 12:34Everyone we were with looked fascinated,
- 12:36like they were looking at buried
- 12:37treasure, except for Riley who looked
- 12:40like he was going to be sick.
- 12:42He kept complaining about the smell, but
- 12:43none of us smelled anything.
- 12:46We didn't walk very far.
- 12:47The front door led to mostly empty
- 12:49living room.
- 12:51We were all still standing in that room
- 12:52just using our phones as a flashlight
- 12:55when we heard movement coming from
- 12:56upstairs.
- 12:57I'm well aware that houses like this
- 12:59make all sorts of crazy noises since
- 13:01everything is wooden and old, but this
- 13:03noise we heard upstairs was unmistakably
- 13:05footsteps.
- 13:07It was clearly the pattering of steps
- 13:08going from one side of the room to the
- 13:10other.
- 13:11We all stood completely still.
- 13:13Jade insisted that we check it out.
- 13:16Riley put his foot down and he said he
- 13:17was leaving.
- 13:19The other guys in the group also didn't
- 13:20want any part of a confrontation, so
- 13:22they all went outside with Riley.
- 13:24Unfortunately, I couldn't let Jade go
- 13:26upstairs alone.
- 13:28Even though I wanted nothing to do with
- 13:30whoever may be running around up there.
- 13:32We quietly snuck up the stairs,
- 13:34>> [music]
- 13:34>> which were in the back of the house.
- 13:36Right next to the stairs was a door.
- 13:38I tried to open it just to see what was
- 13:40behind it, and it was locked.
- 13:42I found it incredibly weird that this
- 13:44door was locked, but the front door was
- 13:46open.
- 13:47When Jade started to go upstairs, I
- 13:49followed closely behind her.
- 13:52I noticed when we were on the stairs
- 13:53that the footsteps had stopped.
- 13:55We were tiptoeing as quietly as we
- 13:57could.
- 13:58When we got upstairs, it was eerily
- 14:00quiet up there.
- 14:02No sounds at all.
- 14:04We took a few steps forward down the
- 14:05hall, and I expected that at any moment
- 14:08someone was going to run at me. But
- 14:09nothing ever happened.
- 14:11I was starting to think that this woman,
- 14:13Jade, whom I just met, had some kind of
- 14:16death wish because she decided to shout
- 14:18into the darkness if anybody was there.
- 14:20I almost fainted when she did this, but
- 14:23no response.
- 14:24We looked in all the rooms upstairs, and
- 14:26there wasn't anybody in any of the
- 14:27rooms.
- 14:28I won't lie, I was freaked out.
- 14:31We clearly heard movement upstairs, but
- 14:33there was clearly nobody up there.
- 14:35We started going downstairs, and Jade
- 14:37made a joke about how she was sad that
- 14:39we didn't get to see a ghost.
- 14:41When we got to the first floor,
- 14:43the door that was next [music] to the
- 14:44staircase that had just been locked a
- 14:46few minutes ago
- 14:47was now randomly opened.
- 14:50I don't just mean unlocked, I mean the
- 14:52door was legitimately wide open.
- 14:54I looked at the open door and noticed
- 14:56that it led to a pitch black basement.
- 14:59Jade looked terrified for the first time
- 15:00[music] since we entered the house.
- 15:02Instead of being scared, I was starting
- 15:04to think that this was a practical joke.
- 15:07It just seemed so unbelievable.
- 15:09I attempted to go into the basement, and
- 15:11Jade grabbed my hand and begged me not
- 15:13to.
- 15:14I admit I was being ignorant here.
- 15:17I was blatantly ignoring her because I
- 15:18was sure I was being messed with.
- 15:21I went downstairs, and it was even
- 15:23colder down there than the rest of the
- 15:24house,
- 15:25which made sense to me since this was
- 15:27the basement after all.
- 15:29It was so dark down there and it smelled
- 15:31horrible.
- 15:33I figured the smell was some kind of
- 15:34backed up sewage.
- 15:36I was trying to use my cell phone
- 15:37flashlight, but it was barely doing
- 15:39anything.
- 15:41As I was whipping my phone around the
- 15:42room, I thought I saw something move
- 15:44near some boxes on the floor.
- 15:46It made me jump just out of sheer shock,
- 15:49but I instantly decided in my head that
- 15:51it was just the shadows from my
- 15:52flashlight that freaked me out.
- 15:54I started walking over to the boxes to
- 15:56investigate [music] it myself.
- 15:58While I was walking over, I started to
- 16:00think about the possibility of someone
- 16:02being over there,
- 16:03maybe a homeless person, and I didn't
- 16:05want any trouble.
- 16:07I know homeless people can be harmless,
- 16:08but where I live, they're usually
- 16:10dangerous and I was not equipped in any
- 16:12way to defend myself. [music]
- 16:14When I was a few feet away from the
- 16:15boxes, I clearly saw a shadow get up
- 16:18from behind the boxes and run over to
- 16:19the other side of the room.
- 16:21He was so fast and so dark that I
- 16:23couldn't see anything or make out any
- 16:25details besides [music] just the shadow
- 16:27from my phone light.
- 16:29I felt the wind hit me in the face when
- 16:30he rushed by me.
- 16:32I had no idea [music] what this was and
- 16:34I didn't want to find out.
- 16:35I ran over to the stairs and I announced
- 16:37to whatever was down there that I was
- 16:39leaving and that I was sorry for
- 16:40intruding.
- 16:42Just before turning and running up the
- 16:43stairs,
- 16:45I heard a whisper from the basement say
- 16:46to me,
- 16:47"Don't leave just yet."
- 16:49I paused for a second and then freaked
- 16:51out and ran out of the basement.
- 16:53Jade was still standing there at the top
- 16:55of the stairs.
- 16:56She heard the whisper as well and was
- 16:58hysterical.
- 17:00We ran out of the house and Riley was
- 17:01[music] still outside with the other
- 17:03guys.
- 17:04We got into the car and started driving
- 17:06away.
- 17:07I told them what happened and they
- 17:09looked terrified.
- 17:11I still wasn't sure if somehow these
- 17:12guys were messing with me.
- 17:14However, the way they were all acting
- 17:16made me feel like they weren't messing
- 17:18with me.
- 17:19Joker not, this night messed up Riley.
- 17:22He didn't want anything [music] to do
- 17:23with that house.
- 17:24The next day, he called the director and
- 17:26told them that he couldn't film there
- 17:27for safety reasons.
- 17:29He made up some excuse about the house
- 17:31just not being safe to film. And the
- 17:33cast and crew could get hurt working
- 17:34inside there.
- 17:36The director was upset, but gave up
- 17:38fighting after a while.
- 17:40When Riley told the owner of the
- 17:41property that they weren't shooting
- 17:42there anymore, the man just left and
- 17:44thanked Riley [music] for his
- 17:45consideration.
- 17:47A few months later, the project fell
- 17:49through and they didn't even shoot that
- 17:50specific movie here.
- 17:52Apparently, the director wanted a
- 17:54ridiculous amount of money to fund the
- 17:55movie.
- 17:56And it just wasn't possible.
- 17:58Whenever I relive that night, I still
- 18:01can't believe what I witnessed.
- 18:03It doesn't make any sense to me. Part of
- 18:05me still feels like it had to be a
- 18:06prank, but what would be the point of
- 18:08continuing the joke all these years
- 18:10later?
- 18:11I saw the fear in all of their eyes and
- 18:13that wasn't fake.
- 18:15I don't know that I fully believe the
- 18:17house is haunted, but something is for
- 18:18sure not right in that house.
- 18:20And I'll be happy never going back and
- 18:22finding out for sure.
- 18:36Some people in this world are just
- 18:38messed up.
- 18:39I never realized just how crazy some
- 18:41people can be until one night I had a
- 18:43horrifying encounter I will never
- 18:45forget.
- 18:46One of my best friends was getting
- 18:48married and his best man literally paid
- 18:50for all of us groomsmen to travel to
- 18:51Cape Cod.
- 18:53Usually, I would be annoyed to have to
- 18:55spend a lot of money to travel for a
- 18:56bachelor party. But I wasn't going to
- 18:58complain about basically a free trip
- 19:00with my boys.
- 19:01The entire trip was going to be three
- 19:03overnights, which is excessive for a
- 19:05bachelor party in my opinion, but it was
- 19:07still cool.
- 19:08We spent the days on the beach and at
- 19:10night we would go out and drink at some
- 19:12of the bars.
- 19:14We especially liked this one bar that
- 19:15was right on the water.
- 19:17The first night out, I met a girl named
- 19:19Britney.
- 19:20She was a local girl, and we hit it off
- 19:22right away.
- 19:23The next day, we were texting the whole
- 19:25time.
- 19:26That night, we all went out again.
- 19:28My friends wanted to find a different
- 19:30bar, but I decided to stay at the one
- 19:32from the night before, so I could hang
- 19:33out with Britney.
- 19:34>> [music]
- 19:35>> In my defense, he insisted that I hang
- 19:37out with her.
- 19:38So, that's exactly what I did.
- 19:40We spent a couple of hours at the bar
- 19:41having some drinks and just talking and
- 19:43getting to know each other.
- 19:45Once we were feeling really good from
- 19:47the beverages we'd consumed, she asked
- 19:49if I wanted to go for a walk on the
- 19:50beach.
- 19:51I thought this would be a great way for
- 19:53the two of us to get some alone time, so
- 19:55without hesitation, I was ready for our
- 19:57beach walk.
- 19:58We walked for a while.
- 20:00For the first big chunk of the walk, we
- 20:02were walking on what I assumed was a
- 20:03private beach because there were houses
- 20:05that backed up against the beach.
- 20:07She told me that we were okay walking
- 20:09here, and who knows, maybe we were.
- 20:12We eventually walked far enough that
- 20:14there were no more houses.
- 20:16We were traversing rocks.
- 20:17It was dark enough that it was kind of
- 20:19hard to see where we were going.
- 20:21I didn't care about any of that.
- 20:23What I cared about was that it finally
- 20:25seemed like we were completely alone.
- 20:27I was mentally preparing to make a move
- 20:29when I noticed Britney making a weird
- 20:31face as she looked off into the distance
- 20:33a little bit.
- 20:34I asked what she was looking at, and she
- 20:36pointed at a rock cluster that was about
- 20:3820 ft away from where we were standing.
- 20:41With a confused voice, she asked if I
- 20:43could see that guy standing over there.
- 20:46I was squinting and trying to focus my
- 20:47eyes in the dark, and I didn't see
- 20:49anything.
- 20:51I asked her where she saw this guy.
- 20:53She doubled down and pointed even
- 20:55harder.
- 20:56She kept saying that it's right there.
- 20:59And she was almost annoyed that I
- 21:00couldn't see what she was talking about.
- 21:02I finally saw what I thought she was
- 21:04talking about.
- 21:05I I her it was just a rock, hoping that
- 21:08I could get her attention back.
- 21:10However, she couldn't [music] let it go.
- 21:12She was adamant that it was a person.
- 21:15It was just way too dark out there to
- 21:17tell for sure.
- 21:18She said that she was going to move in
- 21:19closer to get a better look and to prove
- 21:21to me that [music] it was a person.
- 21:23As I was telling her that it was clearly
- 21:25a rock, I saw the figure move.
- 21:28I stopped her from moving forward and
- 21:30admitted that I thought she may be
- 21:31right.
- 21:32We were only about 10 ft away now and I
- 21:34could clearly see that it was a person.
- 21:36He almost looked like he was partially
- 21:38kneeling on the rock.
- 21:40As my eyes were getting more used to the
- 21:42darkness, I was able to clearly see that
- 21:45he was wearing a worn-out maroon-colored
- 21:46hat.
- 21:48I felt like an idiot that I couldn't
- 21:49tell whether it was a person before
- 21:50getting this close.
- 21:52I quietly leaned over to Brittany and
- 21:54told her that we should probably leave
- 21:56just in case.
- 21:57She agreed.
- 21:58>> [music]
- 21:58>> We quietly retreated off the rocks and
- 22:00started heading back the way we came.
- 22:03I didn't realize it right away, but
- 22:04after a few minutes of walking, I
- 22:06noticed that the man we saw was
- 22:08following us.
- 22:09He was a good distance behind us, but it
- 22:11was him for sure.
- 22:13We could see the same maroon hat.
- 22:16Brittany looked a little nervous and I
- 22:17tried to tell her that it was nothing to
- 22:19worry about. He's probably just walking
- 22:21in the same direction as us.
- 22:23She didn't agree. She told me that
- 22:25random guys like this don't just [music]
- 22:27walk on this specific part of the beach
- 22:29at this hour of night.
- 22:31I thought she was overreacting
- 22:33until I looked back again.
- 22:35And now the guy was moving toward us
- 22:36with a little more zip in his step.
- 22:38Brittany started to freak out and I was
- 22:40scared myself now.
- 22:42I suggested that we run and she agreed.
- 22:45We were moving fast and when I turned
- 22:47around, the man in the maroon hat was
- 22:49now also sprinting like we were.
- 22:51There was no denying it this time.
- 22:53This guy was running after us.
- 22:56We eventually got to the part of the
- 22:57beach where the houses were.
- 22:59I told Brittany to trust me and I
- 23:01grabbed her hand and we ran to the
- 23:02backyard of one of the houses.
- 23:04We jumped the fence and instead of
- 23:06running down the road, we got on the
- 23:07ground and hid under the Jeep that was
- 23:09in the driveway.
- 23:11Britney was holding her hand over her
- 23:12mouth and I was just trying to keep my
- 23:14composure.
- 23:15I was freaking out on the inside.
- 23:17[music]
- 23:18I was hoping that the man wouldn't chase
- 23:19us off the beach.
- 23:21Unfortunately, that hope didn't get me
- 23:23anywhere.
- 23:24While we were under the Jeep, I saw the
- 23:26man walk down the driveway.
- 23:28I could see his feet.
- 23:30They were bloody and dirty.
- 23:32They were a foot or two away from my
- 23:34head.
- 23:35The scariest part was that the man
- 23:36wasn't running anymore.
- 23:38It was like he knew we were hiding.
- 23:41We just stayed completely still so
- 23:43hopefully the man wouldn't have any idea
- 23:44where we were.
- 23:46Maybe the strangest part of this
- 23:47encounter wasn't the man or the
- 23:49disgusting feet,
- 23:51but it was the noise the man was making.
- 23:53He was making a clicking sound with his
- 23:55tongue.
- 23:56While he was walking by, I noticed that
- 23:58he was carrying something shiny in
- 24:00[music] his hand.
- 24:01I know this is going to sound crazy, but
- 24:03I swear that this guy had a machete.
- 24:06He was holding it and it was swinging on
- 24:08the side of his leg.
- 24:10If not that, [music] then it was a very
- 24:11large knife.
- 24:13It took a while, but he finally passed
- 24:15the Jeep.
- 24:16I could see him slowly walking down the
- 24:18street.
- 24:19When he was several houses down, I
- 24:21gestured to Britney to shimmy out from
- 24:23under the Jeep and quietly head back to
- 24:24the beach.
- 24:25We did just that and once we were back
- 24:28on the beach, we sprinted all the way
- 24:30back to where we started.
- 24:32Every minute I looked back expecting to
- 24:33see the maroon hat running after us, but
- 24:36he never came back.
- 24:38When we got back to the bar, we were
- 24:39both still on edge from the strange man
- 24:41on the beach.
- 24:42We called an Uber and went back to the
- 24:44Airbnb where my friends were hanging
- 24:46out.
- 24:47The guys were creeped out and I didn't
- 24:48blame them.
- 24:50Britney and I were basically still
- 24:51shaking.
- 24:53That was the first time I had ever had a
- 24:55a encounter and I hope it's the last.
- 24:58I'm lucky to have left this physically
- 24:59unharmed.
- 25:01Wherever that man is today, I hope he's
- 25:03not still terrorizing people on the
- 25:04beach.
