- 0:00I want to tell you something. See how
- 0:03the words that reach us in life end up
- 0:05being understood. I was reading a book
- 0:09and learned a subtle truth. You may be
- 0:12poor, but you shouldn't have a poor
- 0:14mindset. It's just a book; I read a
- 0:18couple of pages. Something is going
- 0:21deep inside; I am conveying it to you,
- 0:23see if you understand. A king was
- 0:25riding on a horse, and a beggar was
- 0:27sitting there. The king felt pity, so
- 0:28he tossed a copper coin at the beggar.
- 0:30Instead of catching it, the beggar let
- 0:32it fall into the gutter. The king
- 0:34became concerned. The king turned his
- 0:35horse around and went back, but the
- 0:37beggar was reaching into the gutter,
- 0:38searching for that copper coin. "Hey,
- 0:40don't look for it! Here, take this
- 0:42silver coin." He took the silver coin,
- 0:44but kept searching the gutter for the
- 0:45copper one. The king said, "I told you
- 0:47to stop! Isn't this enough for you?""
- 0:49Here, take this gold coin." The beggar
- 0:51took the gold coin too, but kept
- 0:53reaching into the gutter, still
- 0:54searching. "King, when will you stop
- 0:57that?" No, the king is talking, but the
- 0:59man is still searching the gutter. "
- 1:02Fine, I will make you a king," the king
- 1:04said, "I'll give you half my kingdom."
- 1:07If even that kingdom includes this
- 1:09gutter, what would you do with this
- 1:11mindset? The mind—it is reading that
- 1:15cleanses its filth. If you read, that
- 1:18filth will be washed away; nothing else
- 1:20can wash it. Only through knowledge and
- 1:23wisdom can the dirt in the mind be
- 1:24cleansed. That is why we must read.
- 1:28Shall I say a word? They all spoke,
- 1:30right? Brother, he spoke choosing only
- 1:32good words; everything comes across as
- 1:34good words. Take one word; there was a
- 1:37poet we all know whose wife could not
- 1:39have children. Because there were no
- 1:41children, they kept asking him to marry
- 1:43his sister-in-law. Namakkal Kavignar
- 1:45said, "I will not marry her." That girl
- 1:47waited for seven years, but he said, "I
- 1:49won't marry, my life is with you."
- 1:50Finally, after seven years, she said, "
- 1:52Are you going to marry me or not?""I
- 1:54won't eat," she said, and he asked her
- 1:56one word. "While you are alive, how can
- 1:58I marry another?" That night she died a
- 2:01natural death. A word can destroy. A
- 2:05word can kill. A man goes to his wife,
- 2:08driven by lust. She had gone to her
- 2:09mother's house, saying she could not
- 2:11stay with this man. He goes through a
- 2:13storm. The girl's house is on a
- 2:15mountain. He climbs the mountain. He
- 2:16climbs by grabbing onto roots. Only
- 2:18later did he realize those roots were
- 2:20snakes. When he stood before his wife
- 2:24with a filthy mind, she said, "Turn
- 2:26this lust you have for me into devotion
- 2:28and place it upon Rama." That is when
- 2:31Tulsidas wrote the Ramayana. This is
- 2:34how a word reaches us. We don't know
- 2:36which word will open our doors. I am
- 2:38going to say something; you shouldn't
- 2:39be afraid. Are there children at home?
- 2:42Are there wives? Is there a sister? Are
- 2:44there parents? Are there elderly people
- 2:47? Be careful. I heard something
- 2:50recently, and I'll share what I read.
- 2:53Ever since I learned that, my life has
- 2:54not been the same. I am very careful
- 2:57and always speak positive words. I do
- 3:00not use negative words because I know
- 3:02the universe listens to our words; a
- 3:04spoken word never disappears, it
- 3:06circles around and comes back to us. Be
- 3:10careful; there is a wealthy man who
- 3:12kept two dogs. I say it this way: Osho
- 3:16used to say that stories are understood
- 3:18faster by common people who claim they
- 3:20haven't studied anything, rather than
- 3:22by intellectuals. It's true—people
- 3:26say they don't know anything, but they
- 3:28have actually studied a lot. They have
- 3:31studied humans, politics, economics,
- 3:34and society. We study all eight just to
- 3:36bring some changes in them. That's all.
- 3:40There was a man who owned two dogs; he
- 3:42was a very rich man and went for a walk
- 3:44daily. A thief had been observing this
- 3:47rich man. I’ve been watching for a
- 3:50long time. I told him directly, "Hey,
- 3:52one day I will steal from your house.""
- 3:54In my house?""Yes, try to stop me if
- 3:56you can." Three days later, in the
- 3:58morning, someone knocked on the door;
- 4:00when he opened it, it was the thief. He
- 4:02brought a box, opened it, and said, "
- 4:04Look at everything in front of you—is
- 4:05it your stuff?""Yes, I took all this
- 4:07from your house last night.""Just to
- 4:09show my capability, that's why.""I
- 4:10don’t want it, no, no. You told me
- 4:12you would come, and I wasn’t careful.
- 4:14If you had told me you earned this, I
- 4:15would have taken it.""I don’t want it
- 4:17, thank you, sir," and he just left!
- 4:19The man who was leaving was stopped;
- 4:21this is the message for you and me. The
- 4:24wealthy man stopped him and asked, "
- 4:26Everything is fine, but how did you
- 4:28handle these two big dogs?""Two German
- 4:31Shepherds—a bite would mean a
- 4:33quarter-kilo lost!""How did you handle
- 4:35them?""They are loyal dogs. I’ve been
- 4:36raising them since they were little
- 4:38pups for seven or eight years.""How did
- 4:39you handle them?" The thief said one
- 4:41word; keep it in your mind. Don’t
- 4:43share it with anyone. Keep it inside
- 4:45and make some changes. "What do you
- 4:48feed these dogs daily?""Mutton and
- 4:51chicken, right?""Yes.""I noticed for
- 4:54three days what you were feeding them.
- 4:56I gave them sardines." Okay, he left.
- 5:02He closed the door, brought both dogs,
- 5:03made them stand in the middle of the
- 5:05house, and they were sitting there.
- 5:07Both dogs. Do you know what the rich
- 5:09man did? He fell at the feet of both
- 5:11those dogs. He fell and said, "Forgive
- 5:14me, brothers.""Father, I made a mistake
- 5:17.""I didn't raise you by feeding you
- 5:19your favorite food, did I?""As soon as
- 5:21someone from outside fed you, you ate
- 5:22it.""I am the reason you behaved
- 5:24thanklessly. Please forgive me," he
- 5:27cried out loud. Do you know one thing?
- 5:29In that spot where those two dogs were
- 5:31sitting...After that, those two dogs
- 5:32never moved anywhere. One died after
- 5:35nine days of hunger, and the other died
- 5:37after 11 days of hunger. Both died.
- 5:40From the third day, he kept begging, "
- 5:42Father, I spoke wrongly, forgive me,
- 5:44it’s okay." If you take forgiveness
- 5:47to heart like that, that’s it—
- 5:48consider it learned. You understand
- 5:51what words to speak to whom and what
- 5:53words not to speak to whom. Otherwise,
- 5:55we end up being the victims. To avoid
- 5:57becoming a victim, we must study. There
- 5:59is Bihar, right? I will tell you a
- 6:00story told among the tribes there. I
- 6:02study, I keep studying continuously. I
- 6:06am sharing this to convey something to
- 6:07you, to bring some light into your life
- 6:09. There was a flock of pigeons. The
- 6:13head pigeon, the one who protected
- 6:15everyone from hunting, looked at a
- 6:17small pigeon in that flock, and that
- 6:19pigeon asked, "Leader, whom should we
- 6:20fear the most?" The dove said, "You
- 6:24should be afraid of the hunter who
- 6:25takes aim." I asked your mother, "Does
- 6:28your son say it right?" She said, "Yes,
- 6:30one must fear the hunter who takes aim.
- 6:33" But the leader said, "A hunter who
- 6:36takes aim will kill only one person;
- 6:37you should fear the hunter who doesn't
- 6:39know how to aim, for we might just be
- 6:41watching and get killed without even
- 6:43knowing he was targeting us." When we
- 6:47fundamentally understand some things
- 6:48said by indigenous people, we move in a
- 6:50different direction from the life we
- 6:52have lived so far. I keep telling you
- 6:54to read, and here is another reason why
- 6:55. I am quoting Parveen Sultana here;
- 6:57what I read yesterday is different from
- 6:59when I read the same sentence today, as
- 7:01I gain a different kind of wisdom,
- 7:02which is why one must read. I might
- 7:04have read a statement yesterday, and I
- 7:05just can't seem to understand that
- 7:07statement. Yesterday I understood it
- 7:08one way, but as I keep reading, today I
- 7:10understand it differently. I understand
- 7:11. I am asking you all for the meaning
- 7:13of a verse; tell me. "Epporul"(Whatever
- 7:16thing)...You know that, right? Does
- 7:23everyone know the meaning? No matter
- 7:26who says something, what should you
- 7:28look for, and what should you pay
- 7:29attention to? "Apporul meipporul
- 7:32kaanbadhu arivu"(To discern the truth
- 7:34in that thing is wisdom). Is the word "
- 7:36truth" too rough to use? Explain it so
- 7:40this young man understands: "Epporul
- 7:42yaar yaar vaai ketpinum apporul
- 7:44meipporul kaanbadhu arivu." It is here,
- 7:49I know it is here, but I don't know how
- 7:51to say it. It's not that I don't know
- 7:53it. Let me explain it now; see if your
- 7:56understanding changes even slightly.
- 7:59Look, there is a man lying down in a
- 8:01gutter after drinking. A young boy is
- 8:03going to the liquor shop to buy alcohol
- 8:05. The man lying down says, "Don't drink
- 8:08." What would the boy say to the man in
- 8:11the gutter? "You are lying there drunk
- 8:14yourself; what right do you have to
- 8:15tell me?" Then the man who fell says, "
- 8:19Who else could be more qualified than
- 8:20me?""I am ruined and lying in the
- 8:23gutter; who else can tell you better
- 8:24than me?""Don't drink." Do you
- 8:26understand now? "Epporul yaar yaar vaai
- 8:29ketpinum"—whoever says something, you
- 8:31should not make fun of them. If you
- 8:33make fun of them, I will call you up
- 8:35and make you speak. I know you are at a
- 8:36certain stage, right? Nobody fails in
- 8:39my class, and I don't let anyone fail.
- 8:45Look, Akbar was sitting in his court.
- 8:48Birbal was present in that court. Akbar
- 8:50took Birbal and went into a separate
- 8:52room. He sat in the private room and
- 8:54performed penance. He asked, "I am
- 8:55meditating; see if I am doing it
- 8:57correctly." Birbal watched him doing it
- 8:59all wrong, and he kept watching.
- 9:01Thinking he would go mad if he kept
- 9:03doing penance like this, he said
- 9:04something. The guard ran out from
- 9:07inside. As soon as he ran out, Birbal
- 9:10said, "Arrest Akbar." The guard stood
- 9:13still. Akbar said, "Arrest Birbal, who
- 9:16told you to arrest me." The guard
- 9:18immediately arrested Birbal. The guard
- 9:21knew this voice. "Epporul yaar yaar
- 9:24vaai ketpinum"—you should listen to
- 9:26what others say in many situations.
- 9:29Sometimes, this becomes a place where I
- 9:31understand a second meaning: that you
- 9:33should only listen to those things when
- 9:35the right person says them. While you
- 9:39keep searching for thoughts—like what
- 9:41I said at the Chennai Book Fair under
- 9:43the title "The Wing Called a Book"—
- 9:44there is this tendency to argue or just
- 9:46provoke and observe things when sitting
- 9:48idle. These things are becoming very
- 9:52widespread today. How do we control
- 9:55these things that are becoming so
- 9:57widespread? When you are in a position
- 10:00of responsibility, if you want to stand
- 10:02tall in that role and grow to the next
- 10:03level, you must acquire some wisdom. My
- 10:07mother once told me a very subtle truth
- 10:09, and I am passing it on to you exactly
- 10:11as it is. Do you know why Krishna—my
- 10:14mother used to watch the Mahabharata—
- 10:16why did Krishna not gamble? Sultana
- 10:18asked me this. Why didn’t he gamble?
- 10:22Anybody? Because he knew it was wrong?
- 10:29Did he think it was a mistake? That’s
- 10:32not it. Krishna knew that if a god
- 10:35gambles, he won’t win; Shakuni would
- 10:37win, and Krishna knew that. I am
- 10:42telling all of you, don’t gamble; a
- 10:44god never wins in gambling, which is
- 10:46why a god doesn’t gamble. "Shakuni
- 10:50will win, no matter what, Shakuni will
- 10:52win"—this saying, this thought, stays
- 10:54with me. I get alert at times. I will
- 10:57tell you one more thing; humility—you
- 10:59only realize this when you read—that
- 11:01being humble is a royal virtue. Being
- 11:03arrogant is not a royal trait. That is
- 11:05just a quality of leadership; it is not
- 11:07the quality of a servant. You must read
- 11:12to understand the wisdom of knowing
- 11:13where to bow and where not to bow. For
- 11:18example, look at Corona; how small a
- 11:21virus it is. How very small a virus! It
- 11:24is tiny, isn't it? Just a microorganism
- 11:27! How afraid we were, where were we,
- 11:30and how were we then? Why? You must
- 11:36learn what to fear and what not to fear
- 11:38, and realize what you need to
- 11:39understand and remain humble there;
- 11:41when you read, you realize that
- 11:42everything is within us. I told my son
- 11:46to wake up at 5:30 in the morning, go
- 11:48for a walk, have a coffee, read the
- 11:49newspaper, and then come home. He is 23
- 11:52years old. Do you know what his reply
- 11:53was? He gave the typical reply of
- 11:55today's youth. "Everything is available
- 11:57right here, Mom." Will he get the
- 11:59experience of going out, walking around
- 12:01, having coffee, seeing people, and
- 12:02reading the paper there? Will that
- 12:04experience be there? You can listen to
- 12:06this speech on your device while
- 12:07sitting here. But will you get the
- 12:08experience of sitting here and
- 12:10listening like this? This is what I
- 12:12feel I must tell you. That is why I
- 12:14feel one must read; let me tell you
- 12:16something you will really like. People
- 12:18argue, right? My domestic help told me,
- 12:23"Ma'am, my daughter talks back too much
- 12:26; I thought of making her a speaker
- 12:27like you," but a loud-mouthed person
- 12:29cannot be a speaker. Are they fighters?
- 12:36They are not fighters. Those who think
- 12:38so are the ones who fail. Eight crore
- 12:40people, six crore people are talking.
- 12:43It's just millions of people talking,
- 12:45isn't it? If six crore people talk,
- 12:49only ten people rule the discourse. If
- 12:53you want to know the difference, to
- 12:54understand that this is not that, look
- 12:56at this line by Jayakanthan that stirs
- 12:58your deepest soul: "Children should not
- 13:00die." Jayakanthan writes that children
- 13:03should not die; that is very tragic.
- 13:06But even more tragic is those children
- 13:08dying in stories. Why? You only know
- 13:12that if you read, right! If a child
- 13:13dies within the pages of a book while
- 13:15you are reading, that is all there is
- 13:17to us. That is why we say, when we read
- 13:20, we surround ourselves with all those
- 13:22things. I have read books like "Men,
- 13:26Women, and Children" by Sundara
- 13:28Ramaswamy, and I have sat motionless
- 13:30for 48 hours without doing anything;
- 13:32that is how deeply it affected me.
- 13:35After reading "The Deep Sea World" by
- 13:38Jody Cruz, I just sat there, sitting
- 13:40for 12 to 18 hours. The collection
- 13:43titled "Why Do You Get Angry If I Speak
- 13:45?" by Thanthai Periyar has completely
- 13:47dismantled me. I would challenge you to
- 13:53read the 34 volumes of Ambedkar's
- 13:55speeches in Parliament, read the "Wings
- 13:57of Fire," try reading "My Experiments
- 13:59with Truth," read the entire Quran,
- 14:01read the full Bible, read all 1330
- 14:03couplets of the Kural, and try reading
- 14:05and understanding the 12,000 stanzas of
- 14:07Kamba Ramayanam with their meanings. If
- 14:14you read, you will realize things
- 14:16according to your capacity; the merit
- 14:17of the life you have received, you gain
- 14:19the fruits of seven lifetimes through
- 14:21the education you learn. So, please
- 14:24read and see how things become clear to
- 14:26us. Recently, someone said something
- 14:29and left; it was just words, but it
- 14:31created an image within me. There was a
- 14:33donkey; we all use "donkey" as an
- 14:35insult when we get angry, saying, "Ugh,
- 14:37donkey." Why do we insult others by
- 14:39calling them a donkey? I only learned
- 14:41this after reading that story, because
- 14:42many times we just don't know. "A house
- 14:45entered by a tortoise," what is that?
- 14:48Has a tortoise entered your house? Why
- 14:50do we say that? The tortoise is the
- 14:52only creature in this world that lives
- 14:53for 800 years. The tortoise is an
- 14:55animal that travels longer distances
- 14:57than a whale in the ocean. Does it swim
- 14:59very fast? It doesn't swim that way; it
- 15:01travels by moving along with the ocean
- 15:03currents. The tortoise is an animal
- 15:04with a great sense of direction. Should
- 15:06I tell you about the elephant? You can
- 15:08control all parts of an elephant, but
- 15:10you cannot control its eyes. Its eyes
- 15:12will never come under your control. You
- 15:16can never predict its sixth sense. The
- 15:19elephant is no ordinary beast. The book
- 15:21"The Earth That Has All This Knowledge"
- 15:23was written by Theodore Baskaran. If
- 15:24you can, read it. He talks about the
- 15:26Sarus crane and the fox. The fox, you
- 15:29know, lives only with its one mate. If
- 15:33the mate dies, it also dies without its
- 15:35partner; the fox does not join another
- 15:37mate. When we read things, many matters
- 15:41become clear to us. Look, there was a
- 15:44donkey, and that donkey ate a lot of
- 15:45grass until its stomach was full. It
- 15:47kept walking through the forest. It saw
- 15:49a tiger in the forest and got a little
- 15:51scared. But since its stomach was full
- 15:54of grass, it felt a sense of arrogance.
- 16:00"I have eaten my fill, I know what I
- 16:02eat, but I eat grass," it said, and
- 16:04fearing it had to do something, it
- 16:06blurted out, "The grass I ate is blue."
- 16:10"I don't eat grass, and I know it's
- 16:12green," said the tiger, and an argument
- 16:13broke out between them. "Let's do one
- 16:15thing, let's take this dispute to the
- 16:16lion for a panchayat (arbitration)."
- 16:17The lion called them. "What is the
- 16:19dispute, donkey?""Sir, he is arguing
- 16:21about the color of the grass I eat.""He
- 16:22doesn't even eat grass, sir.""The grass
- 16:24is blue, sir; I have been eating it
- 16:25since I was born.""I know you don't eat
- 16:27grass, sir, so please tell him what
- 16:29color it is," asked the donkey. The
- 16:30lion said, "Why are you talking so fast
- 16:33?""What are you saying now?""The grass
- 16:35I eat is blue, sir.""Tell this tiger to
- 16:38shut its mouth.""Hey, did you eat it?""
- 16:41I ate it.""Since when have you been
- 16:42eating it?""I have been eating it since
- 16:43I was born.""What color is it?""Blue.""
- 16:45In which forest do you eat it?""In this
- 16:48forest.""Fine, it's blue, go!" Sir, he
- 16:52argued with me, please give him some
- 16:54punishment, sir! Hey Tiger, you
- 16:56shouldn't speak for five months, get
- 16:58out! The donkey left happily. The tiger
- 17:03stood, turned back and asked, I accept
- 17:05the punishment you gave, you are the
- 17:07king, tell me the reason. Didn't I just
- 17:10speak the truth? How many days have we
- 17:11been punished for speaking the truth
- 17:13like that! We speak the truth at home,
- 17:16and one was born to speak unfairly.
- 17:19Father, even for speaking the truth a
- 17:21bit earlier, I have been beaten so much
- 17:23. What kind of talk is that without
- 17:26respect for elders? Then what is this "
- 17:28big girl" respect? You are playing with
- 17:30small children. I have an elder brother
- 17:31, an elder sister, a younger brother, a
- 17:33younger sister, and I am in the middle.
- 17:35If I talk to them, I get scolded; if I
- 17:37talk to these, I get scolded. The tiger
- 17:39was scolded with bad words. You have no
- 17:42sense, you shouldn't speak for five
- 17:43months, go! Why the punishment for me?
- 17:45Tell me, it is green color, right? Just
- 17:47because it says it is blue, you lied.
- 17:49Why are you arguing with me? Didn't I
- 17:52tell the truth? You talk like this,
- 17:54stay silent. Do you know why you got
- 17:57this punishment? It is a donkey, you
- 17:59are an intelligent animal. If you are
- 18:01excellent at calculations, everyone
- 18:03will call you a tiger. They are humans,
- 18:05if one is truly brave, then being a
- 18:07tiger in bravery is a very big thing.
- 18:10Then why did you punish me? You argued
- 18:12with a donkey, that is your punishment,
- 18:14go! Do not argue with donkeys. Shall I
- 18:19tell you why? Do you know the nature of
- 18:21a donkey? It will never change what it
- 18:24believes. No matter how much you say,
- 18:27it won't be corrected. If someone tries
- 18:29to correct it, it will put us in a bind
- 18:31and keep going its own way. That is why
- 18:33you shouldn't argue with it, you should
- 18:35only pass a judgment. By learning such
- 18:38a thing, don't you know who to argue
- 18:40with and who not to argue with?
- 18:45Education gives me the knowledge of
- 18:46where our intellect goes in many tasks
- 18:48and levels, where it gets trapped,
- 18:50where we should escape, and whom we
- 18:51should not get stuck with. I am
- 18:55speaking at the peak of education. In
- 18:58the north, we have cockfights, they
- 18:59have something like silk-bird fights. I
- 19:02read a story. In silk-bird fights, a
- 19:04silk-bird with a colored crest would be
- 19:06worth one lakh rupees; Nawabs used to
- 19:08raise them, 50 years ago such a fight
- 19:10would happen and they would bet lakhs
- 19:12of rupees on the bird. The people
- 19:14watching would be IAS officers, they
- 19:16were the spectators. My mentor Moosa
- 19:18Raza, who was a Padma Bhushan and Chief
- 19:21Secretary. He mentions it in the book
- 19:22he wrote. I had gone to a party. There
- 19:24I saw the silk-bird fights. They gave a
- 19:26one lakh rupee prize to the winning
- 19:28bird. Then they gave it a golden cage.
- 19:30They gave it a blanket. They adorned it
- 19:32with many garlands. It walked
- 19:33majestically and went inside the golden
- 19:35cage. Do you know the punishment for
- 19:37the defeated bird, respected audience?
- 19:40The person who owns the defeated bird
- 19:42is not allowed to participate in races
- 19:44anymore, and besides that, they would
- 19:46cut off its crest. They would cut the
- 19:48silk-bird's crest and let it fly away
- 19:50outside. He ends the story like that.
- 19:52He ends the article like that. Moosa
- 19:55Raza IAS says, "I feel sorry for the
- 19:58winning bird, and I am happy for the
- 20:00defeated bird." What do we lose and
- 20:03what do we gain? Only when knowledge
- 20:05comes does one realize it. "Knowledge
- 20:07is the shield that protects from ruin,"
- 20:08"What can be achieved without wisdom?",
- 20:11"Treating others 'suffering as one's
- 20:13own,""Education is the wealth that
- 20:15cannot be stolen"—how much Valluvan
- 20:17tells us! Education is our final weapon
- 20:19. My Tamil kin, if India today stands
- 20:22ahead of other states in self-respect,
- 20:24it is because it has sustained itself
- 20:26through the standard of education. That
- 20:30is why Bharathi said, "Tamil Nadu is a
- 20:32land excelling in education." Let us
- 20:35further cultivate that knowledge. Let's
- 20:37cultivate it. As I studied, I learned
- 20:39something; as I studied, I learned
- 20:40something, and I will share it before I
- 20:42go. My speech will end in 30 seconds. I
- 20:44am but a sparrow. In reality, I am just
- 20:47a sparrow. I do not have any great
- 20:49background. Just a sparrow. But as I
- 20:53studied, my wings unfurled. When they
- 20:57did, I looked at them and identified
- 20:59myself—I realized I am not a sparrow,
- 21:01but an eagle. I studied until I earned
- 21:05my PhD. I never failed anywhere.
- 21:08Whatever I studied, I studied it
- 21:10completely. Education is the only
- 21:14weapon; it is the only thing that gives
- 21:16us our identity, our respect, our
- 21:18influence, our fame, our position, and
- 21:20our journey. Study for that. That is
- 21:25why Ambedkar said, "Study, study." He
- 21:28truly said it. Study; he even imported
- 21:31books by the ship-load to read. He is
- 21:33one of the two people who read every
- 21:35single book in that London city library
- 21:37. Karl Marx is one, and Ambedkar, the
- 21:40father of our nation's constitution, is
- 21:42the other. Periyar says, "Study, study,
- 21:45" not just to follow others, but to use
- 21:47your intellect. Use your intellect and
- 21:50take up the weapon called education. As
- 21:53I said, when I spread my wings, the sky
- 21:55became mine. Today, I am spreading my
- 21:58wings and flying. My Tamil hearts, my
- 22:01Tamil kin of Villupuram, try spreading
- 22:03your wings! You will realize that you
- 22:06are not a pigeon, a parrot, or a
- 22:08sparrow; you are also an eagle. Come,
- 22:10let us fly together; the sky is waiting
- 22:12. We shall meet again. Goodbye.
