- 0:56interview without further ado let's jump
- 0:58into five fast facts for enterprise rent
- 1:01a car fact number one enterprise was
- 1:03founded in 1957. i always loved the
- 1:05story about how enterprise was founded
- 1:07by a former navy officer who essentially
- 1:11if i can remember correctly he basically
- 1:13bought five cars and said people would
- 1:16rent cars who couldn't afford to buy
- 1:17them and everyone just thought he was
- 1:19mad
- 1:20and then he brought enterprise rental
- 1:22car into one of the biggest companies
- 1:24rental companies in the world fact
- 1:25number two
- 1:27the founder jack taylor named the
- 1:29company after the world war ii aircraft
- 1:31carrier that he served on fact number
- 1:33three enterprise now has more than nine
- 1:35and a half thousand branches around the
- 1:37world fact number four enterprise prizes
- 1:40itself on being a family-owned global
- 1:43network fact number five enterprise
- 1:46received an award for best in the
- 1:48business environmental program back in
- 1:512019. remember you can use those fast
- 1:53facts plus your own when answering the
- 1:55question why do you want to work for
- 1:57enterprise rent a car so let's talk
- 1:59about the enterprise interview and
- 2:01application format there were four
- 2:03stages which candidates tended to
- 2:05identify
- 2:06took about two months to complete the
- 2:08whole stage after an online application
- 2:11you'll be asked to complete a phone call
- 2:13with some competency questions it was
- 2:14about 10 minutes you then have to do a
- 2:17video interview which is about 30
- 2:18minutes long the next stage is where you
- 2:20actually visit a branch an interview
- 2:22with an area manager and talk to you
- 2:24about the eight core values that
- 2:26enterprise holds and the last stage is
- 2:28an assessment center the regional head
- 2:30office which includes group activities
- 2:32and a final interview of a city manager
- 2:34we're going to be concentrating on in
- 2:36the interviews we're going to be talking
- 2:38about the eight most common questions
- 2:39that we came across which seem to really
- 2:41feature heavily for enterprises
- 2:43interviews and talk about how you want
- 2:46to think about answering those questions
- 2:48so let's jump into those eight questions
- 2:50question number one why enterprise so
- 2:52just like i did there with
- 2:55telling you um that little story about
- 2:57chuck taylor just like i did then
- 2:59telling you that story about jack taylor
- 3:01enterprise is really quite a fascinating
- 3:03company
- 3:04how it's grown there are lots of facts
- 3:07out there you can learn it from the
- 3:08website the about us page history
- 3:11and your reports
- 3:12just general business news and one thing
- 3:15you really want to think about when
- 3:16talking about why you want to work this
- 3:18company is make sure that the facts are
- 3:19specific to the company that they're
- 3:21interesting and interesting to you and
- 3:24also what your opinion is about it or
- 3:26why does this move you why does this
- 3:28motivate you to work for this company i
- 3:30know that sometimes candidates kind of
- 3:32struggle with this they're like oh i'm
- 3:33not really bothered but you want to be
- 3:35bothered look imagine if this was your
- 3:37company if someone was coming to work
- 3:38for
- 3:39you in your house for example you want
- 3:42to know that they're really motivated to
- 3:43be there they didn't seem that motivated
- 3:46then you probably wouldn't want them in
- 3:47the house uh you don't want a negative
- 3:50nelly work and exactly the same goes for
- 3:52this we want people around us who are
- 3:54sort of motivated ambitious energetic
- 3:56and confident and we can feed off their
- 3:58own question number two why this role
- 4:00this is a two-part so first of all when
- 4:03talking about why this role what are you
- 4:05going to do at enterprise are you going
- 4:07to be a store manager an area manager
- 4:10are you going to work in corporate what
- 4:11is it that you're going to be doing
- 4:13explain to me what you'd be expected to
- 4:15do on a daily basis look if somebody
- 4:17goes into mcdonald's and asks for a job
- 4:20one of the first things that a manager
- 4:21is going to say is like what do you
- 4:22think you're going to do here i'll be
- 4:24like oh well actually i think i'm just
- 4:26going to uh you know sit around and play
- 4:28on my ipad and you know maybe take an
- 4:30order or two it's like yeah i don't
- 4:31think this job is for you one of the
- 4:33most important things that employers are
- 4:35looking for is for candidates to really
- 4:36understand what they're going to be
- 4:38doing
- 4:38and the best way to think about this
- 4:40simply is just what would a typical day
- 4:42look like in the job
- 4:44the second part of this question is you
- 4:46picking out the important skills whether
- 4:49they be soft skills like communication
- 4:51interpersonal leadership
- 4:53skills and those types of things
- 4:55behavioral skills
- 4:56that you think are important and how you
- 4:59can demonstrate those would that be from
- 5:01work experience from extra curricular
- 5:03activities from volunteering from clubs
- 5:06and societies or just from school and
- 5:08how you can demonstrate that you have
- 5:09those roles for example if you're
- 5:11working as a branch manager an
- 5:13enterprise you need to be pretty good
- 5:14with people so you're going to be
- 5:16dealing with customers dealing with
- 5:18staff dealing with complaints dealing
- 5:19with kind of weird and wonderful things
- 5:22that people are looking for you're going
- 5:23to need to be pretty good with dealing
- 5:25with people and also with resolving
- 5:27conflict in some form or fashion and
- 5:29developing
- 5:30or having some good level of client
- 5:33service otherwise it's a job that you're
- 5:35really going to struggle with also do
- 5:36you need any hard skills for the role
- 5:38for example do you need a particular
- 5:39qualification do you need to speak a
- 5:41certain language do you need to code do
- 5:43you have those skills is that something
- 5:45that they've identified in their job
- 5:47description they're
- 5:48really looking for candidates to have
- 5:49question three why do you think you
- 5:51would be a good fit for enterprise so
- 5:54enterprise has got a really good
- 5:55reputation as a family-run business and
- 5:57also for retaining staff something you
- 5:59really want to think about is tie back
- 6:01into enterprises eight core values which
- 6:04they you know we already saw in the
- 6:06interview process i really think about
- 6:08the language that they're using um
- 6:10they're looking to develop leaders
- 6:12they're looking for people to develop in
- 6:13the company to move from like a branch
- 6:15manager to an area manager to
- 6:17a country manager and so on and so forth
- 6:20and also what is it that really
- 6:21interests you
- 6:22about doing this job is it about serving
- 6:25people is it about being part of the
- 6:27rentals industry
- 6:30really think about what makes you a good
- 6:32fit maybe you're just great with people
- 6:33and you really love a sales environment
- 6:35maybe you're ambitious and want to have
- 6:37experience at a world-class company
- 6:39whatever it is you know have a think
- 6:41about it and really try to
- 6:43develop out that process into a
- 6:44compelling answer section four where do
- 6:46you see yourself in five years here the
- 6:49answer is always at this company
- 6:51depending upon the the structure of the
- 6:54company itself you might say i'd hope to
- 6:56be an area manager i'd hope to be
- 6:58managing a couple of branches and i'd
- 7:00still want to be learning and growing at
- 7:02enterprise any time you get answered
- 7:04where do you see yourself in five years
- 7:05it's always here question five what your
- 7:07strengths and weaknesses as we've spoken
- 7:09about before in other past interview
- 7:10videos they ask for your strengths and
- 7:12weaknesses i generally say to say pick
- 7:14one strength one weakness unless you
- 7:16know that you're going to be given more
- 7:18than two minutes to answer this is quite
- 7:20a lot to say
- 7:21in two minutes a lot of candidates will
- 7:23just run out of time so they'll kind of
- 7:25talk about five strengths that they have
- 7:27and they go oh my god
- 7:28my biggest weakness is that i can't say
- 7:30no or something like like that so when
- 7:32you're answering this question
- 7:34um think about what's a good strength
- 7:36for the job and give me some proof give
- 7:38me an example a time
- 7:40that you did that thing and when you're
- 7:42thinking about weakness don't think
- 7:44about something that's necessarily false
- 7:47but think about something that is in a
- 7:49sense compelling is teachable as well so
- 7:52it could be
- 7:54organization time management missing a
- 7:56deadline just something that actually at
- 7:58the time provided you with a really good
- 8:00learning experience thinking well i need
- 8:02to be better i need to put a system or
- 8:04process into place that's going to help
- 8:06me you know do this more effectively
- 8:10but don't try and think of a weakness
- 8:12that's not a weakness it's not really
- 8:14attack that i particularly like to use
- 8:16over the years i think if you're honest
- 8:18and open it tends to be more compelling
- 8:21it tends to make for a better story and
- 8:22a better answer question number six tell
- 8:24us about a time when he demonstrated
- 8:26teamwork teamwork's absolutely crucial
- 8:28enterprise as the same with a lot of
- 8:30other companies um mainly because
- 8:32uh i don't know if you've ever rented a
- 8:34car i've been in this car rental it's
- 8:36really busy right so you get people who
- 8:39pile off of an airplane i'm talking
- 8:41about an airport obviously there are
- 8:43other offices
- 8:44and places where people rent cars but
- 8:46people come to rent a car i generally
- 8:48like they're short on time they're a
- 8:50little bit crabby
- 8:51particularly if they've just got off a
- 8:53really long flight
- 8:54and they want somebody who is
- 8:57you know bright sunny who's going to be
- 8:59able to give them a good level of
- 9:00service who's really going to be able to
- 9:02help them when they won't really be able
- 9:03to help themselves and you want somebody
- 9:05in a team who's going to be able to help
- 9:07out for example if you're short stuff
- 9:09just being you know ultimately what
- 9:11makes a good team member someone who's
- 9:13just super helpful someone who's
- 9:15available who's helpful who's willing to
- 9:17go the extra mile who's kind of really
- 9:19knows that what makes up the frame of a
- 9:21team is their attitude and their
- 9:24application towards their work question
- 9:26seven what do you know about our company
- 9:28so this is very similar to why this
- 9:29company and it'd be the same thing if
- 9:31you had those five or six fast facts
- 9:34it'll be unlikely that you get this
- 9:35question twice but you might get it the
- 9:37same over two interviews and again just
- 9:39having those lists of facts and thinking
- 9:42about why this is compelling and
- 9:44meaningful to you
- 9:46question number eight tell us about a
- 9:47time that you showed good leadership
- 9:49enterprise particularly for graduates is
- 9:51going to be looking for leaders they're
- 9:52going to be looking for managers they're
- 9:54going to be looking for people who are
- 9:56going to be able to
- 9:59drive towards targets hire people fire
- 10:02them
- 10:03manage a team and a lot of times
- 10:04particularly for graduates you may be
- 10:06managing somebody who's twice your age
- 10:08and that can often be quite a
- 10:09challenging thing for young people
- 10:11because they feel inexperienced and
- 10:13capable and a lot of time what makes a
- 10:15good leader is really just organization
- 10:18um why are leaders good leaders because
- 10:20they kind of know where we're going when
- 10:21you think about the captain of a ship or
- 10:24um the pilot on a plane why do we have
- 10:26confidence in them because i don't know
- 10:28where we're going like i can't fly a
- 10:30plane to turkey um i'm just i'm assuming
- 10:34that you know what you're doing because
- 10:35you're flying the plane and that's what
- 10:37give us that level of confidence a lot
- 10:39of times in my experience of leadership
- 10:42and also fostering leadership you give
- 10:44people that sense of autonomy and
- 10:45responsibility and some structure that
- 10:48they can work to and sometimes that
- 10:49involves additional work that involves
- 10:52you being able to kind of um put the
- 10:55extra time in so it might be you come in
- 10:57a bit earlier you leave a little bit
- 10:59later but you're able to turn up at work
- 11:01or whatever you're doing the next day
- 11:03and actually you're the most organized
- 11:04person there and that helps you to
- 11:06really be able to lead others because
- 11:08often people want to be led people want
- 11:11someone say like oh you go here you go
- 11:13there you do this you do that and
- 11:14they're like okay that sounds cool guys
- 11:16i hope you enjoyed this video for
- 11:18enterprise i wish you the best of luck
- 11:20with your upcoming interview don't
- 11:22forget if you want this research note
