  1. 0:01[Music]
  2. 0:02let's talk about candles why and how we
  3. 0:05can import them
  4. 0:06backlisting records data so if i sort
  5. 0:08this practice without importing data
  6. 0:10first it should fail
  7. 0:14the error is pretty clear it's telling
  8. 0:16me no candle for binance but soul usat
  9. 0:18is present in my database so let's start
  10. 0:20importing the needed candles to do that
  11. 0:22open the import candles page
  12. 0:24choose the exchange
  13. 0:26the
  14. 0:28symbol and the starting date
  15. 0:32notice that i entered the same starting
  16. 0:34date as my backtest was
  17. 0:37the ending date is not required because
  18. 0:39it always assumes the current date
  19. 0:42notice that there is no option for the
  20. 0:43time frame either that is because jesse
  21. 0:45only records the one minute timeframe
  22. 0:47data and generates the rest of the time
  23. 0:49frames from them let's start the
  24. 0:51importing process
  25. 0:53this should take a while so i'll skip
  26. 0:55the video
  27. 0:56let's run the backers again
  28. 0:58this time it fails again that's because
  29. 1:00the starting date of the backtest is
  30. 1:02exactly the date that we use for
  31. 1:04importing candles which means we forgot
  32. 1:06to consider the warm-up candles
  33. 1:12warmer candles are the data that is
  34. 1:14loaded before starting the back
  35. 1:16decisions let's say in your strategy
  36. 1:18you're using a moving average with a
  37. 1:20period of 50. warm-up candles allow you
  38. 1:22to have access to that value since the
  39. 1:24beginning of the practice instead of
  40. 1:26just waiting 50 candles just so you can
  41. 1:28estimate the value of the moving average
  42. 1:30by default the warm-up period value is
  43. 1:32set to 210. you can change it from
  44. 1:35within the settings page if you needed
  45. 1:36to
  46. 1:37my backtest is using the minute time
  47. 1:39frame so 210 multiplied by 5 equals 1050
  48. 1:43minutes which is slightly shorter than a
  49. 1:45day so if i import candles from just one
  50. 1:47day earlier it should do it
  51. 1:49this time we should go way faster
  52. 1:51because we only need candles for one day
  53. 1:53so jesse will skip the days that it
  54. 1:55already has now if i run the back test
  55. 1:57again it should work just fine
  56. 1:59and the reason new trades were executed
  57. 2:01here is because the strategy i'm using
  58. 2:03is empty however an easier way to deal
  59. 2:06with volume candles is to simply import
  60. 2:08candles since a few years ago so you
  61. 2:10don't have to worry about candles during
  62. 2:12development at all
  63. 2:19in case your database is empty and you
  64. 2:21want to import candles as fast as
  65. 2:23possible you can do that by opening
  66. 2:25multiple tabs for instance while this
  67. 2:28session is importing candles i can open
  68. 2:30a new tab and import other candles
  69. 2:34however even though jesse allows you to
  70. 2:36it's best not to import simultaneously
  71. 2:39from the same exchange because you might
  72. 2:41hit the rate limit of the exchange and
  73. 2:42get banned for a while instead you could
  74. 2:44import from another exchange for example
  75. 2:47in this case instead of binance spot i
  76. 2:49could import from binance perpetual
  77. 2:50features
  78. 2:54i have to mention that importing handles
  79. 2:56is not required for live trading in live
  80. 2:58trading at the beginning of the live
  81. 3:00session jesse will automatically import
  82. 3:02the required candles for you in the next
  83. 3:03video we're gonna talk about how
  84. 3:05strategies work in jets
