2 aircraft out of Houston collided at air show in Dallas, Federal Aviation Administration says — Transcript

4. 0:07Dallas where two planes from the Conroe
5. 0:09area collided midair during the Wings
6. 0:11Over Houston excuse me over Dallas air
7. 0:13show this is a very challenging time for
8. 0:16those families it it's difficult for me
9. 0:19to talk about it because I know all
10. 0:21these people these are family and
11. 0:23they're good friends
12. 0:25good evening and thanks for joining us
13. 0:26I'm cione Rhodes the FAA and NTSB
14. 0:29launching investigations into what
15. 0:31happened during the Wings Over Dallas
16. 0:32air show that Collision involving two
17. 0:35historic military planes at Dallas
18. 0:37Executive Airport just before 1 30 this
19. 0:39afternoon this is video from the scene
20. 0:42it is very hard to look at the crash
21. 0:44causing a large fire in plumes of black
22. 0:46smoke billowing into the sky right now
23. 0:48officials say they do not know how many
24. 0:50people were on board those planes we do
25. 0:52know that those planes came from the
26. 0:54Conroe area our Rochelle Turner live
27. 0:56there tonight with the very latest
28. 0:57Rochelle
29. 0:59Xeon we're at the general Aviation
30. 1:02Services were those aircrafts were
31. 1:04stationed and we spoke to employees who
32. 1:07work with the pilots right now there's
33. 1:09still a lot of questions as to what
34. 1:11happened and investigators are trying to
35. 1:14contact next of kin now as you mentioned
36. 1:17that video is very difficult to watch
37. 1:20video on social media shows the Boeing
38. 1:23B-17 Flying Fortress and a bail p63 king
39. 1:28cobra colliding and crashing at the
40. 1:30Wings Over Dallas air show at Dallas
41. 1:32Executive Airport around 1 20 this
42. 1:35afternoon at this time it's unknown how
43. 1:37many people were on both aircrafts the
44. 1:40CEO and president of the commemorative
45. 1:42Air Force says the incident is not about
46. 1:45the aircraft and the pilots go through a
47. 1:48strict training process and some have
48. 1:50been flying for the CAF for 20 to 30
49. 1:52years
50. 1:54the aircraft are great aircraft they're
51. 1:57safe they're very well maintained the
52. 1:58pilots are very well trained so um
53. 2:02it's difficult for me to talk about it
54. 2:04because I know all these people these
55. 2:06are family and they're good friends
56. 2:10both aircrafts were stationed in Conroe
57. 2:13Jaden Robinson works at general aviation
58. 2:15services and chaired these pictures and
59. 2:18videos with us of the rare vintage B17
60. 2:21that was part of the collection of the
61. 2:24commemorative Air Force it was nicknamed
62. 2:26Texas Raiders we spoke to employees at
63. 2:28General Aviation Services who knew the
64. 2:31pilots
65. 2:32it's kind of surreal to think about that
66. 2:35I saw these guys on Thursday and that I
67. 2:38see them every Tuesday and Thursday that
68. 2:40I come into work and they always walk in
69. 2:43and crack jokes or they'll talk to the
70. 2:45front desk girl or have a conversation
71. 2:47with us
72. 2:49and the FAA is already on scene the NTSB
73. 2:53is expected to arrive in Dallas around
74. 2:559pm tonight of course we will keep you
75. 2:58posted on any new developments we
76. 3:00learned throughout this evening
