  7. 0:15touch on it just yes or no do you
  8. 0:16believe nicotine is not addictive I
  9. 0:19believe nicotine is not addictive yes Mr
  10. 0:21Johnston uh Congressman cigarettes and
  11. 0:25nicotine clearly do not meet the classic
  12. 0:28definitions of addiction there is no
  13. 0:30intoxication we'll take that as a no and
  14. 0:32again time is short if you could just I
  15. 0:35think each of you believe nicotine is
  16. 0:36not addictive we just would like to have
  17. 0:38this for the record I don't believe that
  18. 0:40nicotine or our products are
  19. 0:43addictive I believe nicotine is not
  20. 0:47addictive I believe that nicotine is not
  21. 0:50addictive I believe that nicotine is not
  22. 0:54addicted and I too believe that nicotine
  23. 0:56is not addict all right Dr Campbell I
  24. 0:59assume that you're aware that your
  25. 1:01testimony and you said uh in your
  26. 1:03testimony that nicotine is not addictive
  27. 1:05is contradicted by an overwhelming
  28. 1:08number of authorities and associations
  29. 1:11for example in 1988 the Surgeon General
  30. 1:13of the United States wrote an entire
  31. 1:15report on this topic the Surgeon General
  32. 1:18of course is the chief Health advisor to
  33. 1:20our government I assume you have uh
  34. 1:22reviewed that report yes I have sir all
  35. 1:28right e
