15 NEW ALDI Australia Finds You NEED to Buy in November 2026 (And 6 to AVOID) — Transcript

- 0:00One chocolate in Aldi this week costs
- 0:01you more than $88 a kilo. It's sitting
- 0:04right next to a machine that just got
- 0:05$50 cheaper than it was last year. And a
- 0:08Christmas seafood deal at its lowest
- 0:10price since 2022. Same store. Same
- 0:13Fortnite. One of them is the best buy of
- 0:15the season. The other is a trap with a
- 0:17cartoon on the box. And unless you know
- 0:19which is which, the supermarket is
- 0:21counting on you grabbing both.
- 0:23November is the most dangerous month of
- 0:25the year to walk into Aldi without a
- 0:27plan. The Christmas range has landed.
- 0:29The middle aisle changes twice a week,
- 0:31every Wednesday and every Saturday. And
- 0:33for the next 8 weeks, every single
- 0:35display is built to make you feel like
- 0:37you're saving money, whether you are or
- 0:39not.
- 0:40According to Aldi's own announcement on
- 0:42the 20th of October, its 2026 Christmas
- 0:44range has more than 100 festive products
- 0:47with more than half of them under $5.
- 0:49That sounds great. And a lot of it is.
- 0:52But under $5 isn't the same as a good
- 0:54deal. A $5 box can still be the worst
- 0:57value in the store. So, I went through
- 1:00every special buys drop from Saturday
- 1:02the 31st of October right through to
- 1:04Wednesday the 11th of November, plus the
- 1:06whole Christmas food range. I checked
- 1:09the prices against Coles, Woolworths,
- 1:11Kmart, BWS, and online retailers. I
- 1:15worked out the price per kilo where it
- 1:17mattered. And I found 15 things you
- 1:19should absolutely grab this month and
- 1:21six you should walk straight past. A
- 1:24couple of those six will surprise you
- 1:26because they're brands you already
- 1:27trust. If you care about what's really
- 1:29in your food and you're tired of the
- 1:31lack of transparency, hit the like
- 1:33button and especially the hype button
- 1:35right now.
- 1:36Every hype helps this video reach more
- 1:39people who deserve to know what's really
- 1:40going on behind many products and major
- 1:43corporations. Share this video with your
- 1:45friends and family. The more people see
- 1:47it, the harder it becomes to keep the
- 1:49truth hidden.
- 1:51Let's start with the one everyone's
- 1:52going to be fighting over. Number one.
- 1:55And this is a buy. The Ambiano slushy
- 1:57machine. It lands on Saturday the 31st
- 2:00of October for $149.
- 2:03Now, if you've been on social media at
- 2:05all in the last year, you know the
- 2:07slushy machine craze is real. Kids want
- 2:09them. Teenagers want them. Honestly, a
- 2:11lot of adults want them for cocktails.
- 2:13And the brand everyone talks about is
- 2:15Ninja.
- 2:16According to a 2026 price guide from
- 2:19Shop Back, Shark Ninja Australia's list
- 2:21price for its cheapest Ninja slushy
- 2:22model is $399.99.
- 2:26And the standard slushy professional is
- 2:28listed at $499.99.
- 2:32So, the Aldi version is $250 less than
- 2:35the cheapest Ninja at full price.
- 2:38But here's the part I really like. This
- 2:39isn't the first time Aldi has sold one.
- 2:42When Aldi brought out its Ambiano slushy
- 2:44maker in November 2025, it was $199
- 2:48according to the deal listing on Oz
- 2:50Bargain. This year, it's $149.
- 2:54That's $50 cheaper in 12 months. How
- 2:57often does anything get cheaper in 12
- 2:58months anymore? According to Aldi's
- 3:00product listing, it has five presets:
- 3:03slushy, frappé, milkshake, cocktail, and
- 3:06wine, plus a self-cleaning function, a
- 3:08digital touch panel, a built-in
- 3:10compressor, and an insulation mode that
- 3:12keeps drinks cold for up to 12 hours.
- 3:14Now, the honest bit, because I'm not
- 3:16here to sell you anything. Uh owners of
- 3:18last year's model on Oz Bargain said it
- 3:20takes around 10 minutes with cold
- 3:21ingredients, and about 20 minutes
- 3:23otherwise, and that drinks with no sugar
- 3:25or alcohol don't slush properly. That's
- 3:27physics, not a fault. Sugar is what
- 3:29stops the drink from freezing solid.
- 3:32One owner also said a frozen blockage
- 3:34can form at the outlet if it sits idle.
- 3:37So, if you're planning sugar-free
- 3:38slushies for the kids, this isn't the
- 3:40machine for that. And think about where
- 3:42the money actually goes. Say you're
- 3:43paying even $3 for a slushy from the
- 3:46servo or the drive-thru. If you've got
- 3:48three kids, and they each have two a
- 3:50week over the summer holidays, that's
- 3:52$18 every week. Over 6 weeks of
- 3:54holidays, that's $108, which covers most
- 3:57of the machine on its own. A bottle of
- 3:59cordial and a tray of ice costs a
- 4:00fraction of that. But for summer
- 4:02parties, school holidays, and Christmas
- 4:04Day,
- 4:05at $149,
- 4:07this is the best value frozen drink
- 4:08machine I could find. It's a buy, and it
- 4:10will sell out. Number two.
- 4:12And this is our first don't buy.
- 4:15It drops on Wednesday, the 4th of
- 4:16November, and I guarantee you'll see it
- 4:18at the checkout end of the aisle where
- 4:20your kids can reach it. Advent
- 4:22calendars. Let's do the maths, because
- 4:24the box never does it for you.
- 4:26The Kinder Advent calendar at Aldi is
- 4:29$9.99
- 4:31for 113
- 4:33g. Aldi's own shelf ticket lists that at
- 4:36$8.84
- 4:38per 100 g. That's $88.40
- 4:42a kilo
- 4:43for milk chocolate. The Cadbury Dairy
- 4:45Milk Advent calendar is $4.99
- 4:49for 90 g, which Aldi lists at $5.54
- 4:53per 100 g. That's $55.44
- 4:56a kilo. And with 24 doors in 90 g, each
- 5:00piece weighs about 3.75 g. That's barely
- 5:03a mouthful. Now, compare that to the
- 5:05exact same chocolate in a block.
- 5:07According to price tracker Grocerize, a
- 5:09180 g Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut block
- 5:13is $5.50
- 5:15at Woolworths on special right now,
- 5:17which works out to $3.06
- 5:19per 100 g. So, the Advent calendar costs
- 5:22you nearly double per gram compared to a
- 5:25block on special. And the Kinder one
- 5:27costs nearly three times as much. You're
- 5:29not paying for chocolate, you're paying
- 5:31for cardboard, plastic trays, and 24
- 5:34tiny doors. And it doesn't stop there.
- 5:36The same drop includes a Bluey Advent
- 5:38calendar for $24.99
- 5:41and a Warheads sour Advent calendar for
- 5:44$4.49.
- 5:46I understand the magic of an Advent
- 5:48calendar. I'm not saying take that away
- 5:50from your kids. I'm saying make your
- 5:51own. Buy one block on special or a bag
- 5:54of individually wrapped chocolates, and
- 5:56put it in a reusable calendar. You'll
- 5:58get more chocolate for less money, and
- 5:59you'll use it every year. If you must
- 6:01buy one, at least go in knowing you're
- 6:03paying $88 a kilo. That's a don't buy.
- 6:06Number three, back to the good stuff.
- 6:09And this one's for anyone who wants
- 6:10Christmas lunch to feel special without
- 6:12paying restaurant prices. The curated
- 6:14collection premium lobster tails with
- 6:15garlic butter glaze. According to Aldi,
- 6:18the 380 g pack is $32.99
- 6:22down from $34.99
- 6:25last year. And the company says it's the
- 6:27lowest price since 2022.
- 6:29Better Homes and Gardens also reported
- 6:31the 2025 price at $34.99,
- 6:35so that $2 drop checks out. Now, $2
- 6:37doesn't sound like much,
- 6:39but think about what's happened to
- 6:40almost every other seafood price since
- 6:412022. Everything has gone up. Fuel,
- 6:44freight, wages, packaging. And here's a
- 6:47premium product sitting at its cheapest
- 6:49price in 4 years. TV chef Steph De
- 6:52Sousa, who partnered with Aldi on the
- 6:54launch, suggested building the whole
- 6:56Christmas meal around one hero dish like
- 6:59the lobster tails and keeping the rest
- 7:01simple. And that's actually smart
- 7:02advice, whoever's paying her.
- 7:05One impressive centerpiece with salads
- 7:06and sides you make yourself will cost
- 7:08you far less than five different fancy
- 7:10dishes. They're in the freezer section
- 7:12now and they've been there since
- 7:14Wednesday, the 21st of October. And
- 7:16here's a tip for this one. Because
- 7:18they're frozen, you don't have to wait
- 7:19until December. Buy them in November
- 7:22while the freezers are fully stocked.
- 7:24And you'll avoid the last minute
- 7:25scramble when everybody's grabbing
- 7:27whatever's left. Lobster tails at
- 7:29$32.99,
- 7:31lowest price in 4 years. It's a buy.
- 7:34Number four, this one surprised me. It's
- 7:36a name brand, it's alcohol, and it's
- 7:38actually cheaper at Aldi.
- 7:40Guinness draught. On Wednesday, the 4th
- 7:43of November, Aldi has a six-pack of
- 7:45Guinness draught cans for $24.99.
- 7:49Now, let's compare it to the biggest
- 7:51bottle shop chain in the country.
- 7:53At BWS, the same 470 ml Guinness draught
- 7:57cans are listed at $35 for a six-pack or
- 8:01$8 for a single can. $24.99
- 8:05versus $35. That's $10 saved on one
- 8:08six-pack. That's nearly 30% off. Buy two
- 8:11for the Christmas fridge and you've
- 8:12saved $20. And the beer is exactly the
- 8:14same beer, same brewery, same can, same
- 8:17widget inside that gives it that creamy
- 8:19head. This is the kind of name brand
- 8:21deal I love at Aldi because it's simple.
- 8:23No loyalty card, no member price, no buy
- 8:26three to get the discount, just a lower
- 8:28price on the shelf. But remember, this
- 8:30is a special buy. When it's gone, it's
- 8:32gone and they won't restock it. So if
- 8:34your dad, your uncle, or your
- 8:35father-in-law is a Guinness drinker,
- 8:37this is your Christmas present sorted
- 8:39for $24.99.
- 8:41It's a buy. And stick around because
- 8:43I've still got four more don't buys
- 8:46coming up, including one on a coffee
- 8:48that millions of Aussies have in their
- 8:49pantry right now. Number five.
- 8:51This one's a don't buy and it hurts me
- 8:53to say it because these are my favorite
- 8:55chocolates, the Ferrero Rocher festive
- 8:57cone. It lands on Wednesday the 11th of
- 9:00November at Aldi for $17.99
- 9:03for 212 g. Here's the problem. At Kmart,
- 9:06the Ferrero Rocher 17-piece cone, 212.5
- 9:10g, is listed at $16. Same chocolates,
- 9:13same weight basically, same pretty gold
- 9:15cone, and it's $1.99 cheaper at Kmart.
- 9:19This is the thing you need to understand
- 9:20about Aldi. Most of the store is Aldi's
- 9:22own brands and on those the prices are
- 9:25usually very sharp. So when you see a
- 9:27big name like Ferraro sitting in the
- 9:29middle aisle, your brain assumes it must
- 9:31be a bargain, too. It isn't always.
- 9:33Aldi is a business. It uses its
- 9:35reputation for cheap prices to sell you
- 9:38name brands at normal prices, sometimes
- 9:40higher.
- 9:41$2 isn't a disaster, but if you're
- 9:43buying five or six of these for
- 9:44teachers, neighbors, and the office
- 9:46secret santa, that's $10 to $12 you've
- 9:48just handed over for nothing. Buy it at
- 9:50Kmart. Don't buy it here. Number six.
- 9:53Now this is where Aldi absolutely
- 9:55smashes it. Mantovani panettone.
- 9:58According to Aldi, the 900 g traditional
- 10:01fruit panettone and the 750 g choc chip
- 10:04panettone are both $9.99
- 10:07and and available now. There's also a
- 10:09Mantovani mini panettone 100 g for
- 10:12$3.99.
- 10:14Now, compare that.
- 10:16In December 2025, Better Homes and
- 10:19Gardens listed the Coles Aldegisa
- 10:21classic panettone 900 g at $20. That's
- 10:25double. And the Woolworths Dolce Segreto
- 10:28Gianduia panettone was listed at $35.
- 10:32But, here's what really convinced me. In
- 10:34that same Better Homes and Gardens
- 10:36article, the writer picked the Aldi choc
- 10:38chip panettone as her all-time favorite,
- 10:40saying, "If I had to choose one
- 10:42panettone, it would have to be the Aldi
- 10:44chocolate chip panettone." She praised
- 10:47its buttery texture and noted, "It's
- 10:48made in Italy."
- 10:50And here's my value tip. Panettone isn't
- 10:52just for Christmas morning. Slice it
- 10:54thick, use it for French toast on Boxing
- 10:56Day, or make a bread and butter pudding
- 10:58with the leftovers. One $9.99 loaf can
- 11:02do three different jobs over the
- 11:03holidays.
- 11:04Half the price of Coles, made in Italy,
- 11:07and a food writer's number one pick.
- 11:08It's a buy. Number seven, if you only
- 11:11buy one Christmas treat from Aldi this
- 11:13year, make it this one. Festive
- 11:14Selection Fruit Mince Pies. According to
- 11:17Aldi, the six-pack is $3.99
- 11:21for 360 g. That's 66 cents a pie. But,
- 11:25price isn't the reason I'm putting it on
- 11:26this list. In December 2025, Canstar
- 11:29Blue surveyed more than 1,500
- 11:32Australians, and Aldi was rated the best
- 11:35supermarket for fruit mince pies. It
- 11:37also won for Christmas pudding, turkey,
- 11:39and leg ham. These are real customers
- 11:41rating the products they actually ate,
- 11:43not a panel of chefs, not a sponsored
- 11:45taste test. And if you want something a
- 11:47bit fancier, there's another option this
- 11:49year.
- 11:50The Curated Collection Fruit Mince
- 11:52Tarts, a six-pack of 290 g in Jamaican
- 11:55rum or almond, are $7.99,
- 11:59which Aldi calls a new low price. Here's
- 12:01a hosting hack. Put them in the oven for
- 12:035 minutes before you serve them, then
- 12:05dust them with icing sugar. Nobody at
- 12:07the table will ever know they cost 66
- 12:09cents each. Award-winning, under $4 a
- 12:12box. It's a buy. Number eight, and this
- 12:15one pairs perfectly with the last one.
- 12:18Festive Selection Mini Puddings.
- 12:20According to Aldi, it's a two-pack for
- 12:22$4.99
- 12:24in fruit, salted caramel, or chocolate.
- 12:27And they've been available since
- 12:29Wednesday the 28th of October. As I
- 12:31mentioned, Canstar Blue's 2025 survey
- 12:34named Aldi the best supermarket for
- 12:37Christmas pudding, and Aldi says it's
- 12:39puddings have been recognized every
- 12:41single year from 2018 to 2025.
- 12:45Now, that 8 years in a row claim is
- 12:48Aldi's own marketing line, so take it
- 12:50with a pinch of salt.
- 12:52But the Canstar result is independent,
- 12:54and it lines up with it.
- 12:56Why mini puddings? Because a full-size
- 12:58pudding often ends up half-eaten in the
- 13:00fridge until New Year. The mini ones are
- 13:03portion-controlled. If you've only got
- 13:05two or three people who actually like
- 13:06pudding, you're not wasting a whole one.
- 13:08And the salted caramel and chocolate
- 13:10versions are a great way to get the kids
- 13:12to try something they'd normally turn
- 13:13their noses up at. Less waste, less
- 13:15money, award-winning. It's a buy. Before
- 13:18we keep going, if this is already saving
- 13:20you money, hit like and subscribe so you
- 13:23don't miss the next one.
- 13:25Because the next two are a pair, and
- 13:26they show you exactly how a supermarket
- 13:28can make you pay more for less in the
- 13:30same week in the same store. Number
- 13:32nine, don't buy Ingham's Sweet Chilli
- 13:35Chicken Tenders.
- 13:37On Wednesday, the 4th of November, Aldi
- 13:39has these at $6.99
- 13:42for a 440 g box, which Aldi lists at
- 13:45$15.89
- 13:47per kilo. Now, $15.89
- 13:50a kilo for chicken doesn't sound
- 13:51terrible.
- 13:52But this isn't a kilo of chicken.
- 13:54According to the ingredients list on
- 13:56Ingham's own website, the sweet chilli
- 13:59chicken tenders are just 43% chicken.
- 14:02The rest is flour, water, vegetable oil,
- 14:05wheat gluten, starch, soy protein, and a
- 14:07long list of additives. The label also
- 14:10lists flavor enhancer 635
- 14:13and sodium of 819 mg per 100 g. To put
- 14:17that in perspective, a 200 g serve gives
- 14:20you more than 1,600 mg of sodium, which
- 14:23is a big chunk of the daily amount most
- 14:25adults are told to aim for. Let's do the
- 14:27real maths. 440 g * 43% is about 189 g
- 14:32of actual chicken. $6.99
- 14:35for 189 g of chicken works out to around
- 14:38$37 per kilo of chicken. $37 a kilo?
- 14:42That's more than premium steak in some
- 14:44stores. You're paying for crumb and
- 14:46water. So, what should you buy instead?
- 14:48That's the next one. Number 10, and this
- 14:50one's a buy. Broad Oak Farms Australian
- 14:53RSPCA
- 14:55approved chicken tenderloins value pack.
- 14:58On Wednesday, the 11th of November, Aldi
- 15:00has them at $12.99
- 15:02per kilo in roughly 1 kilo packs. That's
- 15:05100% chicken, and they're RSPCA
- 15:09approved, which means the farm is
- 15:11assessed against the RSPCA's
- 15:14welfare standards. Compare that to the
- 15:15competition.
- 15:17According to Grocer Eyes, a 600 g pack
- 15:20of RSPCA
- 15:22approved chicken tenderloins at Coles is
- 15:24currently $10.50,
- 15:26which is $17.50
- 15:29per kilo.
- 15:30Coles also has a two for
- 15:33which brings it to $15 a kilo. So, even
- 15:36with the multi-buy, Aldi is $2 a kilo
- 15:38cheaper. Without it, Aldi is $4.51
- 15:42a kilo cheaper. Now, put it next to the
- 15:44Ingham's tenders. $12.99
- 15:47a kilo for pure chicken versus around
- 15:50$37 a kilo for the chicken inside a
- 15:54crumb box. And here's the thing. You can
- 15:57make your own sweet chili tenders in
- 15:59about 20 minutes. Flour, egg,
- 16:02breadcrumbs, a splash of sweet chili
- 16:04sauce into the air fryer. Speaking of
- 16:06which, I've got a good one coming up on
- 16:08this list. Better chicken, better
- 16:10welfare, way cheaper per kilo. It's a
- 16:13buy. Freeze half of it the day you get
- 16:15home. Number 11, Christmas turkey.
- 16:18Festive selection of Australian turkey
- 16:20breast roast. According to Aldi, the 1
- 16:23kilo roast is $18.49.
- 16:26And if you want it stuffed, the Curated
- 16:28Collection Premium Stuffed Turkey Breast
- 16:31Roast 1 kilo in apple and cranberry or
- 16:33sage and onion is $21.99.
- 16:37Here's why it's a buy.
- 16:39In Canstar Blue's 2025 Christmas food
- 16:41survey, Aldi was rated the best
- 16:42supermarket for turkey. And according to
- 16:44Aldi, the turkey roast can go from
- 16:46freezer to oven and be ready in about 90
- 16:49minutes. No defrosting the day before.
- 16:52No getting up at 5:00 in the morning.
- 16:53For a lot of families, that alone is
- 16:55worth it. Now, in fairness, I have to
- 16:57tell you the other side. When Canstar
- 16:59Blue compared Christmas prices in
- 17:01December 2023, the Aldi turkey breast
- 17:05roast was $15.99.
- 17:08So, it's gone up by $2.50
- 17:11in 3 years. That's around 16%. It's
- 17:14still cheap for a Christmas roast. A 1
- 17:16kilo turkey breast feeds four to six
- 17:18people. That's three or four dollars a
- 17:20head for the main event. But, don't
- 17:22assume everything at Aldi is frozen in
- 17:25time. Prices move here, too. Best-rated
- 17:27turkey, oven-ready from frozen, under
- 17:29$20. It's a buy.
- 17:32Number 12, don't buy. At least not this
- 17:34week. Festive Selection Australian
- 17:36Frozen Tiger Prawns, 1 kilo, $28.49.
- 17:41Let me be clear. This isn't a bad
- 17:43product. According to Better Homes and
- 17:44Gardens, the same 1 kilo pack was $29.99
- 17:48last Christmas. So, Aldi has actually
- 17:50dropped the price by $1.50.
- 17:52And they're Australian prawns, which I
- 17:54always support. The problem is the
- 17:56competition right now. According to
- 17:58Grocer Eyes, the Woolworths Australian
- 18:00Cooked Tiger Prawns, 1 kilo, are
- 18:02currently $25 on special. That's $5
- 18:05below their regular price and below
- 18:07their 90-day average of $28. And the
- 18:10Woolworths product page says those
- 18:12prawns are black tiger prawns farmed in
- 18:14Australia and sold frozen. So, it's
- 18:16Australian-farmed frozen prawns versus
- 18:19Australian frozen prawns. $25 versus
- 18:22$28.49.
- 18:24That's $3.49
- 18:26cheaper at Woolworths this week. Buy 2
- 18:29kilos for Christmas and that's almost $7
- 18:31difference. Here's the bigger lesson.
- 18:33Prawns are a classic loss leader in
- 18:35December. All three major supermarkets
- 18:38fight over them because they know it
- 18:39gets you in the door. Grocer I says the
- 18:41Woolworths prawns go on special roughly
- 18:43every 2 weeks. So don't rush. Watch the
- 18:46specials through November and buy
- 18:48whichever is cheapest the week you shop.
- 18:50Right now that's not Aldi.
- 18:52Number 13, buy.
- 18:54The Ambiano 6.5 L air fryer. It drops on
- 18:57Saturday the 31st of October for $59.99.
- 19:01According to Aldi's listing, it has 11
- 19:03preset programs, a temperature range
- 19:05from 40 to 200°, and a detachable
- 19:08nonstick rack. Let's compare it to the
- 19:10store most people would go to for a
- 19:11cheap air fryer. At Kmart, the 6.2 L air
- 19:16fryer is $62. But Kmart's own listing
- 19:19says its maximum food capacity is 5.3 L,
- 19:21and the only and the only controls it
- 19:23describes a temperature and a 30-minute
- 19:26timer. So the Aldi one is slightly
- 19:28cheaper, slightly bigger on paper, and
- 19:31comes with 11 presets. And that 40° low
- 19:34setting is handy because it means you
- 19:36can dehydrate fruit or proof dough. Now,
- 19:40is this going to outperform a $300
- 19:42Philips? Probably not. But for most
- 19:45households, especially if you're
- 19:46replacing a tired old fryer or buying
- 19:48for a uni student or a first apartment,
- 19:50this is exactly what you need. And
- 19:52Aldi's 60-day satisfaction guarantee on
- 19:54special buys gives you a safety net if
- 19:56it's not right for you. Keep your
- 19:58receipt and
- 20:00the box. Bigger, cheaper, and more
- 20:02programs than the Kmart equivalent. It's
- 20:05a buy. Number 14, buy.
- 20:08The Sterling 12-place stainless steel
- 20:11dishwasher. Saturday the 31st of
- 20:13October, $299.
- 20:15Let's look at the history because this
- 20:17is where it gets interesting. When Aldi
- 20:19sold this same type of Sterling 12-place
- 20:22dishwasher in October 2025, it was $349
- 20:27according to the Oz Bargain listing. So,
- 20:29it's $50 cheaper this year. That listing
- 20:32showed six programs including pre-wash,
- 20:34a three-star energy rating, a 4.5-star
- 20:37water rating, delay start, child lock,
- 20:40and a three-year warranty with a 60-day
- 20:42satisfaction guarantee. That 4.5-star
- 20:45water rating is the number I'd pay
- 20:46attention to. Every load uses less
- 20:48water, which saves you money every
- 20:50single week for years.
- 20:52But, here's the honest part. Owner
- 20:54feedback on Oz Bargain was mixed. One
- 20:57owner said their older model lasted
- 20:58about 6 years with daily use and cleaned
- 21:01well. Another said it does the job. And
- 21:03another called the one they inherited
- 21:06pretty terrible. So, this is not a Bosch
- 21:08or a Miele. It's a budget machine at a
- 21:10budget price. If you're renting, setting
- 21:13up an investment property, or your
- 21:14current dishwasher just died a week
- 21:16before Christmas, $299
- 21:18is hard to argue with. Just check the
- 21:20boxing store to confirm the warranty is
- 21:23still 3 years on this year's model
- 21:24because that's what makes a budget
- 21:26appliance a safe bet. And use the right
- 21:28detergent and rinse aid. Owners on Oz
- 21:30Bargain who were happy with theirs said
- 21:32they used Aldi's own tablets and rinse
- 21:34aid. A cheap dishwasher with good
- 21:36tablets will often beat an expensive one
- 21:38with bad tablets. It's a buy. Just
- 21:40measure your cavity before you go
- 21:42because it's a free-standing unit.
- 21:44Number 15, don't buy.
- 21:46And this is the coffee I warned you
- 21:47about, Moccona Classic Instant Coffee
- 21:50400 g, medium roast or dark roast. On
- 21:53Wednesday, the 11th of November, Aldi
- 21:55has it at $25.99.
- 21:58Now, that looks like a solid deal
- 22:00because according to Grocerize, the same
- 22:02400 g jar is $37.50
- 22:06at Coles right now. So, why is this a
- 22:08don't buy? Because at Woolworths, the
- 22:11400 g Moccona Classic is currently $26
- 22:14on special, a saving of $11.50.
- 22:17That's 1 cent more than Aldi.
- 22:20Exactly the same deal. And according to
- 22:22Grocerize, this jar has been on special
- 22:24seven times in the last 12 months, but
- 22:27it gets worse. On Oz Bargain, Woolworths
- 22:30had the 400 g jar for $19.50
- 22:34in both February and May 2025 at half
- 22:37price. And the same $25.99
- 22:41Aldi price was also posted back in
- 22:43February 2026. So, this isn't a special
- 22:46Christmas discount. It's just Aldi's
- 22:48regular special buy price for Moccona.
- 22:51So, here's my advice. If you drink
- 22:53Moccona every day, don't buy it because
- 22:54it's in the middle aisle. Wait for the
- 22:56half-price cycle at Coles or Woolworths,
- 22:58and when it hits, buy two or three jars.
- 23:01Instant coffee lasts for months
- 23:02unopened. That's how you save $6 a jar,
- 23:05not $0.01. Number 16, buy Choceur Flake
- 23:09Truffles. According to Aldi, the 200 g
- 23:13box is $5.99
- 23:15in dark, milk, or white, and it's
- 23:17available now. They're so popular that
- 23:19Yahoo Lifestyle Australia called them
- 23:22"wildly popular" when Aldi unveiled its
- 23:25Christmas range. Now, remember the
- 23:27advent calendars? $88 a kilo for Kinder.
- 23:31$55 a kilo for Cadbury.
- 23:34These truffles work out to $29.95
- 23:38a kilo. That's about a third of the
- 23:40Kinder calendar per gram. And they look
- 23:43a lot fancier on a Christmas table.
- 23:45They're individually wrapped, which
- 23:47makes them perfect for a homemade advent
- 23:49calendar, too. Remember what I said? Buy
- 23:52a box of these, drop one in each pocket
- 23:54of a reusable calendar, and you've got a
- 23:56better calendar for less money.
- 23:58They're also a great teacher gift. One
- 24:00box, a nice ribbon, done. $5.99.
- 24:05Compare that to some of the boxed
- 24:07chocolates from the big brands that are
- 24:09double the price for half the weight.
- 24:10It's a buy. Number 17, buy Terry's
- 24:14Chocolate Orange. On Wednesday, the 11th
- 24:16of November, Aldi has it for $6.69.
- 24:20At Kmart, the 157 g Terry's Chocolate
- 24:23Orange is $8. That's $1.31 cheaper at
- 24:27Aldi. Now, hang on.
- 24:29Didn't I just tell you Kmart beats Aldi
- 24:31on the Ferrero cone? Yes. And that's
- 24:34exactly the point. There is no store
- 24:36that's cheapest on everything. Aldi wins
- 24:39on this one. Kmart wins on the Ferrero.
- 24:42The only way to know is to check. One
- 24:44quick note though.
- 24:45Aldi's website lists the size as 154
- 24:48grams in one place and 145 grams in
- 24:52another. So, check the weight on the box
- 24:54before you buy. If it's 157, it's a
- 24:57clear win. If it's smaller, the saving
- 24:59shrinks, but at $1.31 less, it's still
- 25:02the better price. It's a buy and it's
- 25:04the perfect stocking stuffer.
- 25:06Number 18, don't buy Kit Kat candy cane
- 25:09share pack.
- 25:10On Wednesday the 11th of November, Aldi
- 25:12has it for $7.99
- 25:15for about 261 grams, which Aldi lists at
- 25:18$3.06
- 25:19per 100 grams. Here's the comparison. At
- 25:22Kmart, the 18 pack of Nestle Kit Kat
- 25:25peppermint candy cane flavor, 252 grams,
- 25:29is $7. Let's do the unit price. $7
- 25:32divided by 252 grams is $2.78
- 25:35per 100 grams. So, Kmart is about 9%
- 25:39cheaper per gram. And $1 cheaper on the
- 25:42shelf. Now, $1 on a bag of Kit Kats
- 25:44won't break your budget. I know that.
- 25:46But this is the pattern I want you to
- 25:47see. Ferrero, Kit Kat, Macona, Kinder,
- 25:52Cadbury.
- 25:54The big name brands in Aldi's middle
- 25:56aisle this month are very often not the
- 25:57deal they look like. Aldi's own brands
- 26:00are where the savings are. When you see
- 26:02a famous logo in these special buys,
- 26:04that's your cue to slow down and check
- 26:06the unit price. That's a don't buy.
- 26:08Number 19, buy Gordon's gin, 700 ml. On
- 26:12Wednesday the 4th of November, Aldi has
- 26:15it for $44.99.
- 26:17According to price comparison site Buy
- 26:20Wisely, the lowest price it tracked for
- 26:22Gordon's London dry gin, 700 ml, across
- 26:2610 online offers was $47.99
- 26:29with prices up to $54.00 and $99.00. So,
- 26:33at Aldi you're saving at least $3.00 and
- 26:35up to $10.00 compared to those online
- 26:37prices. Bottle shop prices do move
- 26:39around and there may be a special
- 26:41somewhere that beats it on a given week.
- 26:43But as a base price, $44.00 and $99.00
- 26:46is solid.
- 26:48Add a couple of bottles of tonic and
- 26:49some fresh limes and that's a Christmas
- 26:51drinks gift for under $55.00. And while
- 26:53you're there, the same drop also has a
- 26:55few other liquor buys. There's Guinness
- 26:58which we already covered and a BrewDog
- 26:59Maverick session pale ale four-pack for
- 27:02$14.00 and $99.00. But Gordon's is the
- 27:05one I checked and it's the one
- 27:07I'd grab. It's a buy. Number 20, buy.
- 27:1125th Avenue pre-lit Christmas trees.
- 27:13On Saturday the 7th of November, Aldi
- 27:15has a 6-ft pre-lit tree for $89.99 and a
- 27:187-ft pre-lit tree for $149. Now, here's
- 27:21the thing that impressed me. According
- 27:22to OzBargain, Aldi's 25th Avenue 6-ft
- 27:25tree was $89.99 in 2025 and the 7-ft
- 27:29luxury tree was $149. So, the price
- 27:31hasn't moved in a year. In a year where
- 27:33almost everything else went up, that's
- 27:35worth noting. And here's the real world
- 27:36test. One OzBargain user said their 7-ft
- 27:39luxury tree was in its fifth year. The
- 27:41branches didn't fold back as well as
- 27:43they used to, but it still did the job.
- 27:455 years out of a $149.00 tree is about
- 27:48$30.00 a year. A real tree from a lot
- 27:51can cost you more than that every single
- 27:53Christmas. Plus, you're vacuuming pine
- 27:54needles out of the carpet until March.
- 27:57Another user said the pre-lit lights
- 27:58alone are a huge time-saver. Anyone who
- 28:01has ever untangled fairy lights at 11:00
- 28:03at night knows exactly what they mean.
- 28:05One tip, a user asked about the base
- 28:07diameter and couldn't find the specs
- 28:09online. So, measure the corner you want
- 28:11to put it in before you go. A 7-ft tree
- 28:13is a lot wider than you think. Same
- 28:15price as last year. 5 years of use. It's
- 28:17a buy.
- 28:18Number 21, and this is my last buy and
- 28:21it's the one that will make you a legend
- 28:23with the kids on Christmas morning.
- 28:25Carrera Go Mario Kart slot set.
- 28:29On Wednesday the 11th of November, Aldi
- 28:31has it for $99.00 and $99.00. Here's why
- 28:34it's on this list. According to buy
- 28:36wisely, the Carrera Go Nintendo Mario
- 28:39Kart 8 Mark 8 set is listed online from
- 28:42$145.99
- 28:45with prices across 18 offers going up to
- 28:47$249.99.
- 28:50So, even against the cheapest price
- 28:51online, you're potentially saving around
- 28:53$46. Against the top price, it's $150.
- 28:58Now, I have to be careful here. Aldi's
- 29:00listing doesn't say which Mario Kart set
- 29:02it is. Carrera makes several versions
- 29:04with different track lengths. So, before
- 29:06you buy, check the model number on the
- 29:08box, then look it up on your phone in
- 29:10the aisle. It takes 30 seconds. If it's
- 29:13the same set, it's a massive saving. And
- 29:16even if it's a slightly smaller set at
- 29:18$99.99,
- 29:20a genuine Carrera Mario Kart slot set is
- 29:23still a great price. This is the kind of
- 29:25toy that sells out on the first morning.
- 29:27So, if it's on your list, be there
- 29:28early. It's a buy. So, that's our 15
- 29:30buys and six don't buys. And before you
- 29:33head to the shops, I want to give you
- 29:34the rules that make all of this work
- 29:36because the products change every week,
- 29:39but these don't. Rule one, know the
- 29:41dates. Aldi's special buys land every
- 29:43Wednesday and Saturday. According to
- 29:45Aldi's website, Saturday the 31st of
- 29:47October is the electrical sale.
- 29:50Wednesday the 4th of November is Advent
- 29:52calendars, Christmas sweets, and liquor.
- 29:55Saturday the 7th is Christmas trees,
- 29:57lights, and decorations. And Wednesday
- 29:58the 11th is Christmas gardening, toys,
- 30:01and grocery specials.
- 30:03Popular items can be gone within hours.
- 30:05If you really want something, go early
- 30:07on the first day. Rule two, read the
- 30:09unit price, not the big number. The big
- 30:12number is what the supermarket wants you
- 30:14to see. The small number on the ticket,
- 30:16the price per 100 g or per kilo, is the
- 30:20truth. That's how we found that a Kinder
- 30:23Advent calendar costs $88 a kilo, and
- 30:25that crumb chicken tenders can cost you
- 30:27$37 a kilo for the chicken inside. Rule
- 30:31three, name brands at Aldi aren't
- 30:34automatically cheap. Ferraro, Kit Kat,
- 30:37Moccona, Kinder, Cadbury.
- 30:40All of them failed my test this month.
- 30:43But Guinness, Gordon's, and Terry's
- 30:44passed. The only way to know is to
- 30:46compare. And the two stores to check
- 30:48against for Christmas chocolate are
- 30:50Kmart and Woolworths, not just Coles.
- 30:52Rule four, read the ingredients on
- 30:54anything crumbed, coated, or marinated.
- 30:57If chicken is only 43% of the box,
- 30:59you're buying flour and water at meat
- 31:01prices. Rule five, keep your receipts.
- 31:04Aldi's 60-day satisfaction guarantee on
- 31:06special buys only works if you can prove
- 31:08what you paid. Snap a photo of the
- 31:10receipt on your phone before it fades.
- 31:12Thermal paper doesn't last. Rule six,
- 31:15overall, Aldi is still the cheapest
- 31:17supermarket in Australia.
- 31:19In September 2026, Choice found Aldi's
- 31:2217-item basket cost $68.89
- 31:25compared with $74.47
- 31:28at Woolworths, $76.79
- 31:30at Coles, and $92.69
- 31:33at IGA.
- 31:35That's real. But cheapest overall
- 31:37doesn't mean cheapest on every item.
- 31:39You've just seen six examples. Shop Aldi
- 31:41for the basket, shop smart for the
- 31:43exceptions. Let me give you the quick
- 31:45recap. Buy the Ambiano slushy machine
- 31:47for $149.
- 31:49Grab the curated collection lobster
- 31:50tails at their lowest price since 2022.
- 31:53Pick up Guinness for $10 less than BWS.
- 31:56Mantovani panettone for half the price
- 31:58of Coles. The award-winning festive
- 32:00selection fruit mince pies and mini
- 32:02puddings. RSPCA approved chicken
- 32:06tenderloins at $12.99 a kilo. The
- 32:09Canstar winning turkey roast. The 6.5 L
- 32:12air fryer. The $299 Sterling dishwasher.
- 32:16Choceur truffles. Terry's chocolate
- 32:17orange. Gordon's gin. The 25th Avenue
- 32:20trees. And the Carrera Mario Kart set if
- 32:22the box matches. And skip the Kinder and
- 32:25Cadbury advent
- 32:26calendars. The Ferraro Rocher cone. The
- 32:29Ingham's tenders. The tiger prawns this
- 32:32week. The Moccona and the Kit Kat candy
- 32:34cane pack. The supermarket's best trick
- 32:36in November isn't a fake discount, it's
- 32:39the feeling. The music, the lights, the
- 32:41red and green tickets, the countdown to
- 32:44Christmas. All of it is designed to
- 32:46switch off the part of your brain that
- 32:47does maths. You don't need to be a cynic
- 32:49to beat it, you just need to keep one
- 32:51question in your head every time you
- 32:53pick something up. Is this actually
- 32:54cheaper or does it just feel cheaper?
- 32:56Now, I want to hear from you. Which of
- 32:58these are you grabbing first and is
- 33:00there an Aldi Christmas item you buy
- 33:02every single year that I should check
- 33:04for next time? Tell me in the comments
- 33:06because the best tips always come from
- 33:08you.
