  37. 1:17>> I'm doing good, sir. How about you?
  38. 1:20>> I am also doing good. Thank you so much
  39. 1:22for asking. Okay. Uh so we can start the
  40. 1:26interview and it's being recorded as
  41. 1:28well. So first of all can you please
  42. 1:30introduce yourself?
  43. 1:33Uh my name is Unim and currently I am a
  44. 1:36law student and uh I I am I have worked
  45. 1:40in customer representative as well as an
  46. 1:43appointment setter for a multinational
  47. 1:44US-based company and in the past I have
  48. 1:47some experience working uh for a medical
  49. 1:50billing company which is of our
  50. 1:52relatives and uh I I have learned a bit
  51. 1:55about uh AR uh and as well as medical
  52. 1:59coding a bit of that not much but I was
  53. 2:02interested in medical billing and that's
  54. 2:03why I took the course and uh
  55. 2:05alhamdulillah I have a hands-on grip on
  56. 2:08how what a revenue cycle management is
  57. 2:10and what is uh erra ehr and uh
  58. 2:15electronic remittance advice how who it
  59. 2:17is sent to and I I know that from your
  60. 2:19practical martial video as well I have a
  61. 2:22hands-on uh experience on how that
  62. 2:25software works as well and how the
  63. 2:26building is processed through that
  64. 2:29>> okay perfect so basically my next
  65. 2:31question to you was that what basically
  66. 2:33thing motivated you to join medical
  67. 2:35billing but you have already described
  68. 2:36that one.
  69. 2:37>> So I hope you have learned a lot
  70. 2:39hopefully uh basically what for what
  71. 2:41kind of a reason you just joined this
  72. 2:43one so you have just got that one in
  73. 2:44this one.
  74. 2:46>> Okay quite nice uh so we can move to our
  75. 2:49uh basic course questions. So first of
  76. 2:51all can you please let me know uh what
  77. 2:53is medical billing and medical coding?
  78. 2:55What are the basic differences between
  79. 2:57these two?
  80. 2:59Medical billing is just the process of
  81. 3:01translating healthcare services into a
  82. 3:03medical code which is a centralized code
  83. 3:06and uh it it is used for uh claim
  84. 3:10submission to the insurance payers and
  85. 3:13uh that is the whole process of medical
  86. 3:14billing and medical coding exactly is
  87. 3:17when a service is rendered or like we
  88. 3:19have different codes ICD code CPT codes
  89. 3:21Hickpis and it's about uh if if there's
  90. 3:24some instrument used then Hickpis codes
  91. 3:27will be used for that and if it if it's
  92. 3:30uh uh what disease it was that would be
  93. 3:32international classification of diseases
  94. 3:34ICD codes and CPD codes and this is just
  95. 3:36and we use modifiers to combine these
  96. 3:38things so uh that the payers can
  97. 3:42understand uh that it is all seamlessly
  98. 3:45in one place and uh the codes are uh
  99. 3:48easier to be processed for the payments
  100. 3:50to the provider.
  101. 3:51>> Okay. Okay. Perfect. That's quite well.
  102. 3:54Okay. So my next question to you is that
  103. 3:56uh can you please let me know uh what is
  104. 3:59a clearing house in medical billing?
  105. 4:03Uh clearing house is when when you uh
  106. 4:06submit uh a claim to an insurance. It is
  107. 4:10uh a clearing house system is used for
  108. 4:13filtering out basically any issues like
  109. 4:15if there's a change in format then
  110. 4:17clearing house will translate that
  111. 4:19format and uh cleaning house is just
  112. 4:22used for those kind of uh verification
  113. 4:24basically so that there are no issues in
  114. 4:27the uh claims that are submitted.
  115. 4:30>> Mhm. Quite well. Okay. Fair enough.
  116. 4:32Hopefully that was clear enough.
  117. 4:34>> Yeah, you just got the clear idea about
  118. 4:35that one. Okay, so we can move to the
  119. 4:38next question. So that is going to be
  120. 4:39can you please let me know uh what is
  121. 4:42the basically insurance verification?
  122. 4:47>> Insurance verification right? So
  123. 4:49insurance verification is the first step
  124. 4:51when uh we are registering or we are
  125. 4:54scheduling an appointment for a patient
  126. 4:56to the provider. Uh insurance
  127. 4:58verification is the most important
  128. 5:01crucial step to uh to understand if the
  129. 5:05insurance is under the same provider as
  130. 5:07uh sorry under the same patient and the
  131. 5:09services are rendered from the same
  132. 5:11provider that the patient is uh booking
  133. 5:13an appointment for and uh we check the
  134. 5:16numbers for that uh I I believe they're
  135. 5:18like uh insurance verification numbers
  136. 5:20basically and there all the patient
  137. 5:22social security numbers if it's matching
  138. 5:23with the insurance so that there are no
  139. 5:25problems later on after the services are
  140. 5:28rendered because the services the
  141. 5:29providers are providing they're quite
  142. 5:31expensive so we have to make sure that
  143. 5:33uh the insurance is going to pay for it.
  144. 5:35Yeah, quite well. Perfect. Okay, so next
  145. 5:38question to you is that can you please
  146. 5:40let me know what is the basic difference
  147. 5:41between in network provider and out of
  148. 5:43network provider?
  149. 5:46All right. So in network providers are
  150. 5:49basically if there's this insurance
  151. 5:50company that has uh like Medicare and
  152. 5:53Medicaid insurance company that is
  153. 5:55working directly with that. So those uh
  154. 5:58providers that fall with the insurance
  155. 6:02company they are like contract to they
  156. 6:05are in network
  157. 6:10with the contract obligations allowed
  158. 6:19amount
  159. 6:21of network
  160. 6:24insurance
  161. 6:31it's not linked with that insurance so
  162. 6:33it will be out of network and the
  163. 6:35charges will be more hence
  164. 6:37>> means they don't have any any kind of a
  165. 6:39specific agreement with that specific
  166. 6:41insurance
  167. 6:42>> yes yes
  168. 6:43>> okay perfect got it okay so second last
  169. 6:46question to you is that uh can you
  170. 6:47please let me know uh what are the
  171. 6:49co-ayments and deductibles in medical
  172. 6:51billing
  173. 6:54Okay. So, deductibles are the amount
  174. 6:56which is uh required by the patient to
  175. 6:58pay before the insurance start covering.
  176. 7:00And uh sorry, the next one you asked was
  177. 7:03uh co-ay or
  178. 7:04>> co-ay or co-ayments?
  179. 7:05>> Copay. Yeah,
  180. 7:07>> co-ayments. Yeah, co-ayments are
  181. 7:09basically the fixed amount that a
  182. 7:10patient has to pay when they come for
  183. 7:12the uh services that they need.
  184. 7:15>> Right. Okay. Got it.
  185. 7:16>> And then co- insurance is just the which
  186. 7:18some person that have to pay.
  187. 7:20>> Okay. Very well. So I can ask you a very
  188. 7:24very tough question. So can you please
  189. 7:25let me know what is the abbreviation of
  190. 7:28HIPPA?
  191. 7:30>> HIPPA is held uh health international uh
  192. 7:37health.
  193. 7:37>> I thought it was quite you know quite
  194. 7:39easy but I just said it's a tough
  195. 7:41question and you are making it tough.
  196. 7:45Yes. Whenever I prepare for something
  197. 7:48easy,
  198. 7:50I know what was uh it's just kept out of
  199. 7:54my mind. I'm really sorry.
  200. 7:56>> Okay, no problem. That's basically
  201. 7:58Health Insurance, Portability and
  202. 7:59Accountability Act.
  203. 8:01>> Accountability Act. Yes.
  204. 8:04>> Okay. No worries. So overall it was
  205. 8:06quite well and quite good. You just
  206. 8:07answered in a good way. So I'm really
  207. 8:10impressed. And one more thing I just
  208. 8:12need to get some uh feedback regarding
  209. 8:14our medical billing course. So how was
  210. 8:15your basically journey about our
  211. 8:17complete uh medical billing course
  212. 8:21sir? It was amazing actually.
  213. 8:27It's really great to talk to you person
  214. 8:29to person. It's been amazing
  215. 8:33and you put your effort into each
  216. 8:35student and you answer each queries
  217. 8:36afterwards as well
  218. 8:39afterwards discussion
  219. 8:43that was like
  220. 8:46throughout and your practical sessions
  221. 8:48like I went through the website portal
  222. 8:50as well EHR
  223. 8:53it was like hands on experience it feels
  224. 8:55like
  225. 8:59was not just a course even
  226. 9:02felt like
  227. 9:13students
  228. 9:16No problem at all. So that is my
  229. 9:18basically responsibility to deliver
  230. 9:19everything which I have which I know so
  231. 9:22in my best way. So that's what I did and
  232. 9:25thank you so much for your kind words as
