  1. 0:00The M5 iPad Pro has now been out for one
  2. 0:02whole year, and I'm going to respect
  3. 0:03your time, so let's talk about it. And
  4. 0:04if you like anti-AI slop tech channels
  5. 0:06that respect your time, please
  6. 0:07subscribe. We're on our way to 50,000,
  7. 0:08and it really does help. Okay, so this
  8. 0:10is the M5 iPad Pro, and man, it is so
  9. 0:13freaking sweet. Like, the amount of
  10. 0:15stuff that Apple packed into this is
  11. 0:16crazy, especially considering how just
  12. 0:19absolutely razor thin this guy is. I
  13. 0:22mean, I can't even fathom the fact that
  14. 0:24there is a full M5 chip in here that
  15. 0:27would be in something like a Mac mini.
  16. 0:29So, that's kind of the first thing I
  17. 0:30want to get across is this thing has so
  18. 0:32much headroom. I don't know a single
  19. 0:34person in my whole life that would
  20. 0:36actually put the M5 iPad Pro to its full
  21. 0:39use. If you're editing video, you can do
  22. 0:41that. If you're animating, you can do
  23. 0:42that. If you're doing office work and
  24. 0:44watching videos and all those kind of
  25. 0:45things, the M5 iPad Pro can do that, but
  26. 0:48at what cost? I mean, this thing is so
  27. 0:51expensive. The M5 iPad Pro starts at
  28. 0:53$1,199. That is so much money for an
  29. 0:57iPad. Like, I like unfathomable amounts
  30. 1:00of money. Now, they do pack so much tech
  31. 1:02into here, the beautiful screen, all of
  32. 1:03that, but that's just so much money,
  33. 1:05especially when you think about this.
  34. 1:07You're probably still going to need a
  35. 1:09full laptop. Now, I hear you keyboard
  36. 1:11warriors, you say, "No, but I use an
  37. 1:12iPad Pro for my full computer." I get
  38. 1:15it, but for most people, the workarounds
  39. 1:17that you're going to have to do are
  40. 1:18still bit clunky. So, to pay $1,200 for
  41. 1:21this plus having to get a laptop on top
  42. 1:23of that or a Mac mini, it is hard to
  43. 1:25recommend. But, if your concern is,
  44. 1:26"Man, can this actually pull off the
  45. 1:28workflow that I have?" The answer is
  46. 1:30probably. I mean, it is an absolute
  47. 1:31beast of a iPad, and you're going to be
  48. 1:33able to get a lot of stuff done with it,
  49. 1:34but you have to be a specific type of
  50. 1:36person with a specific type of workflow.
  51. 1:37If you don't know what you're going to
  52. 1:39be working on in the next 5 months, you
  53. 1:40can't really go with this because you
  54. 1:41don't know what type of stuff you're
  55. 1:43going to run into. All right, let's talk
  56. 1:44the screen. It is a tandem OLED screen.
  57. 1:46It is the single most gorgeous screen
  58. 1:47I've ever seen on any device. I mean,
  59. 1:49look at this screen. Beautiful dark inky
  60. 1:52blacks, the colors pop, it is so
  61. 1:55incredibly gorgeous. I cannot explain to
  62. 1:57you how gorgeous it is. You're seeing it
  63. 1:59through YouTube and the compression and
  64. 2:00all that, but it's amazing. Having the
  65. 2:01120 Hz display is fantastic. I do always
  66. 2:04say that you do get used to a 60 Hz
  67. 2:06display, so if you go with the Air, I
  68. 2:08don't think that big of a deal, but if
  69. 2:09you're paying this much money, you want
  70. 2:10the best screen possible. But what
  71. 2:11really makes me love the iPad Pro is not
  72. 2:13even the iPad Pro, it's actually the
  73. 2:15Magic Keyboard. I absolutely love the
  74. 2:17Magic Keyboard. If you are trying to
  75. 2:19replace your laptop with it, you have to
  76. 2:21get that Magic Keyboard. It feels great
  77. 2:23to type on. this is my my like favorite
  78. 2:26thing to type on is this Magic Keyboard.
  79. 2:28It feels smooth, the sound is great, and
  80. 2:31even the key travel is pretty solid.
  81. 2:32Yes, there are some keyboards out there
  82. 2:34with more key travel, but this one is
  83. 2:36definitely good enough for my needs. The
  84. 2:38trackpad on here feels really nice and
  85. 2:40responsive. I get feels like a MacBook
  86. 2:42trackpad. The Apple Pencil Pro is
  87. 2:44awesome. I don't really use it all that
  88. 2:46much. I don't I really don't feel like
  89. 2:47unless you are somebody who's actually
  90. 2:49doing animations, you're probably not
  91. 2:51going to use the Apple Pencil Pro. It's
  92. 2:52very expensive. But having used it
  93. 2:54earlier in the year, it is definitely
  94. 2:55good if that's that's kind of your need,
  95. 2:57but for most people, probably not what
  96. 2:59you're into. Saying if that's what
  97. 3:00you're into always reminds me of Flight
  98. 3:02of the Conchords. So here's the bottom
  99. 3:03line for me, the iPad Pro the M5 is just
  100. 3:06absolutely phenomenal. It is There's no
  101. 3:07way that Apple can beat it right now.
  102. 3:09It's just absolutely fantastic. But you
  103. 3:11better be willing to shell out that kind
  104. 3:12of money for something that's this good
  105. 3:14without having the need to add anything
  106. 3:17else to your workflow. So you don't need
  107. 3:18a full laptop or a desktop computer. And
  108. 3:20I think most people would be better
  109. 3:22served by just getting themselves a
  110. 3:24laptop because there is no weird
  111. 3:26workarounds that you have to do with the
  112. 3:27file system and all that kind of stuff.
  113. 3:29iPadOS has come a really, really long
  114. 3:31way, but it's still not macOS. And we
  115. 3:33know this, Apple could put macOS on
  116. 3:35this, but they decided not to cuz
  117. 3:36they're not going to cannibalize the
  118. 3:38different sections of their company.
  119. 3:39They're very smart as business people.
  120. 3:41So 1 year later, can I recommend the M5
  121. 3:43iPad Pro? Only if this is going to be
  122. 3:44your only computing device. If you're
  123. 3:46going to use anything else, it is not
  124. 3:48worth the money. I would say go to the
  125. 3:50iPad Air because you're going to get
  126. 3:52almost like 90% of the way there as you
  127. 3:54would with a Pro, but you're going to
  128. 3:55save a lot of money in the process. Let
  129. 3:57me know in the comments below, what do
  130. 3:58you think of the M5 iPad Pro? Let me
  131. 4:00know if I respected your time, and if I
  132. 4:01did, I would appreciate you helping us
  133. 4:03get to 50,000 subs. I love you guys. I
  134. 4:05turned 38 this past week, and I threw
  135. 4:07out my back the first day. 38 is not a
  136. 4:09fun, but there's nowhere to go but up
  137. 4:11from here. So, thank you for watching.
  138. 4:12I'll see you all in the next one.
